Wardens John Grellner and Tyler Howser
need your help in
catching two poachers.
Saturday morning,
November 26, 2016
at approximately
7:30am, two suspects in a red pickup
(unknown make and
model but likely a 1/2
ton) shot this buck,
from County Road
2560 near County
Road 1340. This is just south of Fort Cobb, OK. After shooting the buck,
the suspects sped away. The witness says the pickup had an extremely
loud exhaust system (not factory). The suspects were last seen heading
north on County Road 2560, toward County Road 1340.
If you have any information about this case, please contact Warden
Grellner at (405)-590-5696 or Warden Howser at (405)-850-1960. You
may also call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-522-8039. Callers can remain anonymous and information leading to an arrest and conviction can
result in a cash reward. Thank you!

Oklahoma Game Warden Daniel Perkins received a call from a vigilant
landowner about someone using a spotlight on November 25. The landowner reported the suspect was southwest of Elmer, OK near the Red
River.
Warden Billy Bob Walker, of Tillman Co., assisted Warden Perkins and
they were able to observe a powerful spotlight in the area described by
the landowner. After observing for approximately 30-45 minutes, Wardens
stopped the suspects.
Wardens discovered a freshly killed buck in the truck bed. The suspect
did not possess the required hunting license, and it was also determined a
deer license (tag) had been purchased at or very near the time the buck was
likely killed. The suspect possessed multiple firearms during the poaching.
While searching for additional evidence, Wardens located a substance believed to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) Trooper Hayes came to assist our
Wardens, and Trooper Hayes arrested the suspect for unlawful possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and possession of drug
paraphernalia.
Wardens list the following as possible charges:
1. Unlawful possession of wildlife (deer) not legally taken.
2. Hunting without a Valid hunting license.
3. Hunting deer without a valid deer firearms license (tag).
4. Head-lighting (spotlighting) wildlife (deer).
All charges are pending in Jackson County District Court.
Wardens Perkins and Walker wish to thank the vigilant landowner for
reporting the poacher, immediately. They also wish to thank Trooper Hayes
for his assistance!

Jailbirds.rocks is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the
huge social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Both State Questions 780 and 781 passed on November 1. Do you think these new
laws will help or hurt our justice system?
To refresh your memory:
State Question 780 would reclassify certain offenses, such as simple drug possession
and property crimes, as misdemeanors rather than felonies. The reclassification of the
drug possession offense is intended to be applied to persons who use the drugs, not to
those who are selling or manufacturing the drugs. The measure also would change the
dollar amount threshold for property crimes charged as felonies from $500 to $1,000.
The goal of this measure is to reduce the size of the state’s prison population and to
reduce the amount of state funds being spent on prisons. SQ 780 proposes to change
Oklahoma statutes, not the constitution.
SQ 781 would create the County Community Safety Investment Fund. That fund would
hold any cost savings achieved by reducing numbers of people incarcerated—a decrease
resulting from reclassifying certain property crimes and drug possession as misdemeanors. The new In-vestment Fund would be a revolving fund not subject to fiscal year limitations. Any savings or averted costs would be calculated by the Office of Management and
Enterprise Services.

Molly E: Lmao y’all acting like our current system is working. Mental health issues
and trauma are the driving forces behind drug abuse. Just locking addicts up won’t help
the cause of the problem. Making them felons just guarantees that they won’t be able to
get a decent paying job to try and turn their lives around and will be stuck in a vicious cycle
of poverty and drug abuse
Adam C: Mental health issues and trauma? Funny. Majority of people I used to know
that are druggies didn’t have mental health issues. They made the decision to do drugs
and got hooked. I work with adults with legitimate mental health issues and not one of
them are like that. Maybe instead of making excuses for them let them take responsibility
for their actions.
Colton B: Can’t do the time,don’t do the crime.addiction is not a disease.its a
choice
Skylar L: It’s going to be bad, very bad. Those who say it won’t make a difference
must have a cushy little job not in Law Enforcement. Smh
Judy H: No cushy job! House wife, mother, grandmother and raising my grandchildren! Just saying ! Skylar L and no my husband is self employed and we have to work and
save for everything we get.
Amy W: I found it interesting that those so opposed were linked to the money side.
Felony charges for simple possession is a positive change.
Michael M: Let’s see... you steal $800 worth of stuff to buy drugs and get caught
with drugs you’re using (and not enough to “distribute”) and both are misdemeanors.
Yeah, that’ll help reduce crime.
Jessie V: They are going to be very bad. The current system isn’t necessarily working but the hidden items in these two bills are going to make things a WHOLE lot worse.
And seriously, who do you guys think is going to pay for this? The state and the feds are
react-text: 392 ... /react-text See More
Ann B: it will make crime worse . now they can have a small amount of drugs and
get a slap on the wrist again no matter how many times they are caught. The liquor one
made it easier for people to shop lift booze with alcohol content. it will be easier for kids
to steal from Walmart.
Norm S: Forget “small” amounts - they can have LARGE amounts (up to 19g of
METH!) and get a ticket and walk away. 780 will have the same effect that the identical
Prop47 had on California. It WILL make crime go up. 780 passed because of the ignorance of voters who think that people actually go to prison for the crimes addressed by
780. 780 was nothing more than a money grab by Kris Steele and his “ministry” - to divert
state money to their pockets tax free.
Candace L: My hope is it will help people who do turn their lives around obtain
gainful, legitimate employment by not having a felony on their record. Probably not a popular opinion here. 🙈
Britny E: I agree

Hobart woman Shauna Marie Monday, 34,
and her alleged pot dealer were arrested on November 3 after she allegedly threatened to kick
her brother’s girlfriend’s ass.
According to the police report, a Hobart officer
was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block
of Lincoln Street for a disturbance at approximately 7:42 p.m. A man at the residence said
his sister, identified as Monday, had come to his
residence with a male friend. When he told her
to leave, she threatened to “beat [his girlfriend’s]
ass” the next time she saw her.
Monday’s friend said, “Whoa, whoa. I’m just
her pot dealer.”
Dispatch contacted him at approximately 8:44
p.m. and told him Monday had returned to the
victim’s residence. The woman’s brother said
his sister was parked in a driveway about two
houses north of his.
The officer found Monday sitting in the driver’s
seat. A man was in the passenger’s seat. He
asked both parties to step out of the vehicle. As
they exited the car, he immediately smelled the
odor of alcohol.
The officer told the woman if she returned to
the residence, she would be arrested. He then
asked if she had been drinking. She told him she and her passenger,
25-year-old Cordell man Aaron Maggard, had been drinking earlier that
night at a local bar.
The officer conducted standard field sobriety testing on the woman, but
she didn’t pass. At one point, she flipped off another officer while trying to
balance on one leg.
Officers searched her vehicle due to her comments that Maggard was
her pot dealer, but he didn’t find any drugs or paraphernalia.
The couple was placed under arrest.
Monday started flailing around and refused to put her hands behind her
back. She called the officers some obscene names and told them she was
going to turn them into the sheriff’s office.
The couple was transported to jail and during booking, Monday told an
officer, “I guess I am pretty buzzed.”
Maggard pled guilty to the charge of public intoxication.
Monday is being charged with threaten to perform act of violence, public
intoxication, and resisting an officer. Her bond was set at $200, and she is
scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2017.
A GIRL AND HER DEALER
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Comanche man Justin Dillon Upchurch, 19, was arrested in Walters after
he allegedly defaced a vehicle with a knife
on November 4.
According to the affidavit, a Walters officer was headed west on South Boundary shortly after 11 p.m. when she noticed
the football players’ vehicles parked at
the field house because they were at an
away game. As she pulled into the east
entrance, she saw a man who standing
near a black truck duck down. She immediately recognized him as Upchurch and
was aware that he didn’t live in Walters.
Upchurch told her they were just waiting for some girls. When she asked who
“they” were, he pointed toward a blue
SUV and another man exited the vehicle. He also told the officer they were
just there to meet some girls.
The officer walked to the area of the black truck where she had seen Upchurch standing when she first pulled into the parking lot. The fuel door was
open on the truck and there were several fresh gouges in the paint on the
driver’s side. When she asked Upchurch if he was responsible for damaging
the truck, he told her that it was below his paygrade and he didn’t do small
stuff like that.
Officers searched around the truck and they found a knife near the front
end of the truck that had some white dust on the tip.
Both men said they didn’t recognize the knife.
When the officer asked why the fuel door was open on the truck, Upchurch said his shirt had caught it and pulled it open when he walked by
the truck.
The officer walked toward her patrol car to grab an evidence bag for the
knife. Upchurch’s accomplice approached her and said he was going to be
completely honest about the situation. He said he had stolen the knife from
a steakhouse a “long time ago.” He and Upchurch were in Walters to meet
some girls, but Upchurch wanted to stop at the fieldhouse. He asked the
man if there was anything in his truck that could be used as a tool. The man
said he handed Upchurch the knife, and he used it to deface the truck.
Upchurch is being charged with malicious injury to property over $1,000.
His bond was set at $5,000, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on
November 15, 2016.

A Palm Beach Gardens man is facing charges that he pointed a gun at another motorist during a road rage incident, according to an arrest report.
If the accusation proves true, then Jack Michael Haberkorn picked the
wrong victim.
The person Haberkorn allegedly threatened turned to be an off-duty Palm
Beach Gardens police officer.
Haberkorn, 22, is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly
weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, improperly exhibiting a firearm and
possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and is being held
in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $81,000 bail.
The road rage incident took place eastbound on PGA Boulevard and began
when a 2014 Volkswagon Jetta driven by Haberkorn cut in front of the off-duty
officer and “continuously” braked hard, the report said.
The officer said she pulled up along the Jetta and said, “Really … really?”
Haberkorn allegedly responded by reaching down and pointing the weapon
out the window and at the woman while stating, “You better watch who the
[expletive] you’re [expletive] with,” the report said.
The officer alerted police and followed the Jetta until it ran a red light at the
intersection of PGA Boulevard and Lake Victoria Gardens Avenue.
Police tracked down Haberkorn and found a loaded .40-caliber Glock in his
possession as well as Xanax and burglary tools inside his vehicle. The off-duty
officer positively identified Haberkorn as the person who pointed the weapon
at her.
Authorities say an assistant principal at a Tampa area high school ended up
going to a hospital and then to jail after she tried some pot-laced cookies for
her 50th birthday.
Pasco County Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Doll says Donna Lynch Haff overdosed Monday on cookies made with cannabis oil.
He says the educator’s daughter, 19-year-old Allison Haff, had obtained the
cookies from a co-worker and brought them home after her mother said she
wanted to try marijuana for her 50th.
Doll says both were released from jail that day and that they were charged
with felony possession of a controlled substance.
It’s unclear if the women have retained attorneys.
School district officials say the assistant principal has been placed on administrative leave from her high school in Holiday.
A woman was arrested after she injured her husband with a sword after an
argument over drugs and their relationship, deputies say.
The Clay County Florida Sheriff’s Office responded Nov. 5 to a home in the
1680 block of Baxley Road in Middleburg.
During an argument, Brandi Oberdeck, 25, threw a wrench at Peter Oberdeck and hit him in the thigh, deputies said.
Peter Oberdeck got a sword, caused damage to the home and dropped the
sword, the report said.
CCSO said Brandi Oberdeck grabbed the sword and struck the victim’s
stomach, forearms and right side.
Peter Oberdeck was taken to Orange Park Medical Center for treatment.
Peter and Brandi Oberdeck have been married for about four years.
Deputies said it appears that they were under the influence of alcohol or
drugs. Deputies found two swords inside the home.
Brandi Oberdeck is charged with aggravated battery. CCSO said she was
placed on suicide watch.

Oklahoma Game Warden
Billy Bob Walker received a
call on November 24 about
some poachers shooting from
a vehicle and county road.
An observant hunter gave
a detailed vehicle description,
number of occupants and
what clothing each occupant
was wearing.
Warden Walker recognized
the vehicle from contact with
a local rancher/farmer that noticed the same vehicle in the
area earlier, and wrote down
the license plate number.
Warden Walker contacted the Tillman County Sheriff's Department and
Frederick Police Department informing them of the vehicle description and
violations. Deputies and officers were able to locate the vehicle in Frederick, and the resulting interview led to admissions of the accused violations.
Charges are pending in Tillman County District Court for:
1. Unlawful possession of wildlife (deer) not legally taken.
2. Hunting with the aid of a motor driven conveyance (vehicle).
3. Shooting from or across a public roadway/right of way.
4. Transporting a loaded firearm.
In addition to any fines and/or court costs, restitution may be ordered
by the court. Depending on the official size measurement of the rack, the
restitution amount could be up to $5,000.
The rifle was seized for evidence and may be forfeited by the court.
Warden Walker is especially thankful for the observant hunter and vigilant rancher/farmer for helping apprehend these poachers!
Warden Walker is also appreciative for the assistance of Tillman County
Undersheriff Mike Burton, Deputy Michael Ebner and Frederick Police Officer Jason Brown!

The Chickasha police chief requested OSBI investigate
a fatal officer-Involved shooting that occurred overnight
November 19.
Six OSBI special agents responded to the scene at
1908 W. Montana. Investigators learned that several officers responded to a disturbance call at that location at
approximately 2 a.m. Officers were told the man causing
the disturbance had a gun. When officers went inside the
house and approached the room where the subject and a
family member were, officers announced they were there.
When officers entered the room, Steve Dwayne Vananda, 56, grabbed a handgun. Vananda and one officer
exchanged gunfire. Vananda was struck at least one time
and died at the scene.
The officer who fired his weapon is on routine paid administrative leave.
OSBI will gather information and evidence and present
that information in a written report to the district attorney.
The district attorney will determine whether the shooting
was justified. OSBI will not release the name of the officer
since he is the subject of the investigation.
