BAD START TO THE DAY
A morning vehicle collision led to the arrest of
a man police say hit another vehicle while trying
to escape on November 30.
According to reports, a Lawton officer tried
to stop a vehicle on Sheridan Road near Gore
Boulevard at approximately 8:47 a.m. The driver, later identified as Dashawn Dearing, tried
to get away from the officer by attempting to
squeeze through two cars that were stopped at
the light. Dearing hit one of the vehicles. He was
then hit by another car that was traveling east.
Dearing’s car came to rest in the intersection,
where he was unable to drive it anymore. He
jumped out of the car and took off running, but
he was quickly apprehended by police officers.
Dearing admitted to officers that he threw
away a gun while trying to escape. Officers located the firearm near the site
of the collision.
While searching the man, officers found $1,567 in cash. In the man’s vehicle, they found Roxy M30 pills, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam pills.
Officers conducted a search warrant at the man’s home, where they found
several uncovered firearms, empty magazines, $220 in cash, and some amphetamines and codeine pills.
Dearing allegedly admitted to selling Roxy M30 pills.
Dearing is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs (fentanyl), using
a communication facility or telephone device to facilitate the commission of
a felony, to-wit distribution of fentanyl, endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude a police officer, acquire proceeds from drug activity, leaving the scene of an accident involving damage, possession of a controlled
dangerous substance, resisting an officer, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, required position and method of turning, and possession of
a firearm after a former felony conviction.
His bond was set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
January 18, 2022.

GO DOWN FIGHTING
A 19-year-old Lawton man who was arrested the evening of November 17 is facing even more charges after he allegedly
attacked three detention officers after being
placed in a cell.
According to court records, Isaiah Derant
Carpenter was booked into the Stephens
County Jail at approximately 11:36 p.m.
for breaking and entering, resisting, and attempting to escape. Officers placed the man
in a single-person cell that was monitored by
CCTV.
Around 11 a.m. the next morning, detention
officers noticed that something was covering
the camera. They told Carpenter to move the
object off the camera, but he refused. The
detention officers entered the cell and a struggle ensued.
Carpenter hit two of the DOs in the face, and he spit in the face of the other
DO. The DOs ran out of the cell, but Carpenter followed, pushing open the
door and escaping the cell. He again hit two of the detention officers in the
face.
When two more law enforcement officers arrived to assist, Carpenter
walked back into his cell and refused to leave. Deputies removed Carpenter
from the cell and put him in a restraint chair. While they were trying to strap
the man down, Carpenter spit in their faces.
One of the detention officers suffered a broken nose in the attack. Another
sustained three different facial fractures.
Carpenter is being charged with aggravated assault and battery upon a
peace officer, attempted escape from a penal institution, and a prisoner placing body fluid on a government employee. His bond was set at $250,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on February 16, 2022.

Marine veteran single-handedly disarms robber at gas station in Arizona
YUMA, Az. -- A Marine veteran took
matters into his own hands when he
disarmed a robber at a gas station in
Arizona.
Dramatic surveillance video released
by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Department shows the man standing inside
the store near the checkout counter
when two masked robbers come through the entrance behind him.
One of the suspects was armed and came in close contact with the man.
The video then shows the man instantly disarm the suspect, knocking him
to the ground.
The sheriff’s office said the veteran helped detain him until deputies arrived to the scene. Two other suspects got away and remain on the run.
When deputies asked the customer how he was able to take control of
the situation, investigators said he responded saying, “The Marine Corps
taught me not to [mess] around.”

On any given day in America, an average of 63 of our mothers,

IDENTITY OF ‘KIOWA COUNTY JANE DOE’
IDENTIFIED 16 YEARS AFTER REMAINS FOUND
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) announces the skull found in Kiowa County on July 13, 2005, which became
known as ‘Kiowa County Jane Doe,’ is positively identified as Rebecca Jean Boyd. Boyd
was reported missing by her estranged husband on July 30, 2002. She was 29-yearsold at the time of her disappearance and the
mother of two small children.
On July 13, 2005, a farmer in Kiowa County
notified the Sheriff’s Office that he found a skull
on his land. No other remains were found. At
that time, investigators determined the skull
was human and belonged to a female that was between 18-29 years old
and that she had been deceased between 3-20 years.
Over the past 16 years, multiple attempts were made by investigators
to identify the skull including creating a facial reconstruction that generated several leads and entering her profile into the National Missing and
Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). The skull was also submitted to
the University of North Texas (UNT) Center for Human Identification. Additionally, the DNA profile obtained from the skull was run against numerous
other missing women cases in Oklahoma.
In September 2021, UNT notified the OSBI that the DNA profile match
from Kiowa Jane Doe matched Rebecca Jean Boyd, whose profile was
also entered into NamUs.
“Kiowa County Jane Doe has a name. She is Rebecca Jean Boyd and
she has a family that loves and misses her,” said Ricky Adams, OSBI Director. “We are happy that Rebecca’s family has her back and can give her
the proper burial that she deserves. Now our Cold Case Unit is going to
determine how she ended up in that field and who is responsible.”
Rebecca Jean Boyd was last seen in Lawton on July 26, 2002. She lived
in Muskogee with a relative but was known to visit Lawton to see family
that lived in the area.
If you have any information on Rebecca Jean Boyd’s disappearance,
please contact the OSBI at (800) 522-8017 or [email protected]. You can
remain anonymous.
BOYD
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless
