DEPUTIES SIT DOWN FOR LUNCH, FIND
FUGITIVE EATING NEXT TO THEM
AROUND THE NATION
While deputies with the Perry County (Tennessee) Sheriff’s Office were out to lunch,
they noticed something that turned a lunch
break into deputies making an arrest.
“We finally slowed down enough to eat
lunch, me and several other of the guys. And
while we were eating, we noticed a known
fugitive that we’ve actually been looking for,”
said Tony Eversole, the Perry County Sherriff’s Office chief deputy.
Eversole said Neil Martin was eating lunch
at the Captain D’s in Hazard, Kentucky right
across from him. He said that Martin is wanted in multiple states for fraudulent business
reasons.
“We had been actively looking for him for several months,” said Eversole.
“He’s wanted by four or five states.”
Eversole said that they did not know how Martin would react, so they let
him finish his meal and waited for him to leave the building.
“We let him eat so we wouldn’t cause any trouble inside the restaurant, and
then we got up as he left and followed him outside and made the arrest in the
parking lot,” said Eversole.
Deputies say that although it was a serious situation, they made a little light
of it after the arrest.
“We wanted to know if he was going to order his dessert to go,” said Eversole.
Martin is being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Duncan man in jail for shooting
wife, stepfather
A Duncan man is being held without bond
after he allegedly shot and killed his wife and
his stepfather at a residence on November
29.
Reports say Duncan officers were dispatched to a home in the 1400 block of Mimosa at approximately 6:45 p.m. A man had
called in and advised that his wife and stepfather were dead.
A second call came in shortly after from a
woman who said her son had just shot her
husband.
Officers arrived on scene to find 31-year-old
Shane Josiah Kirk standing outside holding
an infant and standing next to another child.
The man was separated from the children and placed in a patrol car.
Officers found the bodies of the victims inside the home. They both appeared to have been shot to death.
When police spoke to the man about the incident at the jail, Kirk denied
knowing who had shot his wife and his stepfather.
The man’s mother said mental illness may have played into the shooting.
She said Kirk suffers from PTSD and had been becoming increasingly paranoid and suspicious. She said her son thought people were trying to hurt him.
According to reports, Kirk advised during his bond hearing that he wanted
to represent himself. The judge, who denied bond for the man, advised him
against it.
Kirk is being charged with two counts of murder in the first degree with
deliberate intent. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on February 27, 2018.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Four arrested in Altus burglary, assault
Three Altus men and a Burns Flat woman were arrested for the alleged burglary and assault of a man
on November 28.
According to the police report, an Altus officer met
with the victim in the ER around 2 a.m. The victim
said he heard a knock at the door, and three men
forced their way into his home and started hitting him
with fists and a bat. During the attack, the victim was
able to remove a mask from one of the assailants –
he identified the culprit as 28-year-old Johnny Ray
Casias.
Another man pointed a gun at him, but the victim
was able to escape and flee the residence. When
he ran outside, he saw a vehicle in the driveway. A
woman, who was later identified as Shaley Phillips,
22, was sitting behind the steering wheel.
The other assailants would later be identified as
Vincent Nickolas Furr and Carlos Malquides Mata Jr.,
both 28.
The officer took the victim home and searched his
residence. He saw blood on the floor and walls, and
found a mask from a Halloween costume on the living
room floor. He later found a car matching the suspect
vehicle description at the residence in the 1100 block
of Burns, where the officer knew Mata lived. When he
entered the residence, he saw a bat that appeared
to have blood on it. He found Mata and Casias inside the house. Casias was arrested for unrelated
warrants. The man was also wearing pants that had
blood on them.
Mata refused to speak to the officer.
Casias said he and the two other men got in the
car with Phillips behind the wheel. She took them to
the victim’s residence, where they entered the home.
Casias said the men started beat the victim and
searched through his possessions. There was a bat
and gun involved during the assault, but he wasn’t
sure which man had what weapon.
All three men are being charged with burglary in
the first degree and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Their bonds were set at $250,000,
and they are scheduled to appear in court on January
16, 2018.
Phillips is being charged with two counts of accessory after the fact. Her bond was set at $100,000,
and she is scheduled to appear in court on January
19, 2018.

Wanted man found
driving stolen car
A Lawton man, who police had been looking for for weeks, was finally placed under arrest when he was found driving a stolen vehicle on December 17.
Walters police officers were advised that
the man, identified as 31-year-old Lucas
Dante Christon, was at a home on Ohio Avenue. According to reports, Christon was a
wanted man who had been accused of stealing a vehicle weeks prior. He had a warrant
for his arrest out of Kiowa County.
After receiving the tip that Christon was in
Walters, officers went to the residence at approximately 1 p.m. They found the man in an
alley near Central Street and Ohio Avenue.
Christon wasn’t going to jail that easily, though. He sped off from the scene
in a vehicle, and led officers on a chase that only lasted around 6-8 minutes.
Even though the short pursuit ended near where it had started, Christon
was able to take out a few fences with the vehicle. He also tried to flee from
the scene on foot, but an officer caught up to him and placed him under arrest.
Stealing vehicles must be Christon’s thing, because the car he was driving
during the pursuit was identified as one that had been reported stolen from
Lawton on December 15.
Christon is being charged with endangering others while attempting to
elude police officer, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked and
malicious injury to property under $1,000. His bond was set at $50,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2018.

WHAT IS SUBSTANCE
ABUSE TREATMENT LIKE?
Everyone entering treatment
for a substance use disorder is
unique. That is why the patient
and the treatment staff work
together to develop an individualized treatment plan. It may
include some type of behavioral treatment (“talk therapy”)
designed to engage the patient in the treatment process, alter destructive
attitudes and behaviors related to drug use, and increase healthy life skills.
Behavioral treatment can also enhance the effectiveness of medications that
might be available and help patients stay in treatment longer.
Treatment for substance use disorders can be delivered in many different
settings using a variety of different approaches. The following treatments are
a few of many:
• detoxification (the process by which the body rids itself of a drug)
• behavioral counseling
• medication (for opioid, tobacco, or alcohol addiction)
• evaluation and treatment for co-occurring mental health issues such as
depression and anxiety
• long-term follow-up to prevent relapse
A range of care with a tailored treatment program and follow-up options
can be crucial to success. Treatment should include both medical and mental
health services as needed. Follow-up care may include community- or family-based recovery support systems.

Thank you and God Bless

good doggie!!
Two people were taken into custody after
a Chickasha officer’s K9 companion alerted
him to the presence of drugs during a traffic
stop.
According to the Chickasha Police Department, on December 6, at approx. 10:24 pm,
Officer Zach Pineira of the Chickasha Police
Department stopped James Dale Scott, 54,
of Ninnekah, for suspicion of Driving Under
the Influence in the 2100 block of S. 19th
St in Chickasha. Officer Pineira observed the
pickup that Scott was driving, traveling westbound in the 1600 block of W. Grand Ave, as
it changed lanes from outside to inside and
drove with it’s driver side tires entirely across
the lane line into the center left turn only lane.
As the truck approached S. 19th St, it moved
fully into the left turn lane and made an extremely wide turn to the south onto S. 19th
St, striking the outside curb and going off the
road to the right, into a gravel parking lot.
The vehicle was then immediately stopped
in the parking lot of the University of Science
and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) tennis courts.
Contact was made with Scott, who was
exhibiting signs of being impaired by some
substance. While Scott was being interviewed by Officer Pineira, Cpl.
Ryan Rahlf deployed K-9 Officer Ori. Ori alerted on the passenger door
of the vehicle a short distance from the passenger, Brittiny Dawn Alexander, 25, of Chickasha.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and approx. 118g of methamphetamine, 62g of marijuana, and $8,125.00 in small US bills were
located inside the vehicle. Both Scott and Alexander were arrested and
are being held at the Grady County Law Enforcement Center.
Scott on charges of Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel, Improper Right
Turn, Driving Under the Influence of Any Intoxicant, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, and Possession of CDS With Intent to Distribute Within
2000’ of a School. Alexander on charges of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession of CDS With Intent to Distribute Within 2000’
of a School.

Mohammad Ashan, believed to be a low-level member of the Taliban, turned himself
in in order to collect the reward for his own capture. The reward was apparently about
$100.
Michael Fuller went to Walmart and tried to buy a vacuum, a microwave and a few
other items. The cashier knew that Fuller was up to no good when he attempted to
pay for his purchases with a $1 million bill.
Lukasz Chojnowski reportedly broke into an elderly couple’s home while they were
away on vacation. When the couple returned home, they found Lukasz sleeping in
their bed, earning him the nickname “Goldilocks” in the press. Reportedly, Lukasz did
such a good job of tidying up the house and reorganizing it that the couple offered to
hire him as their butler.
Logan James decided to play a game of cat and mouse with the local police department, posting “catch me if you can” on the department’s Facebook page. Well,
shortly after James posted his poorly thought out comment, the police did just that;
they caught him and booked him.
Klaus Schmidt tried to rob a bank. Unfortunately, Klaus is deaf and couldn’t hear the
alarm blaring as he attempted to clean out the place. He didn’t hear the police coming,
and the whole thing was an epic fail.
John Pearce was attempting to burglarize a home when he got his foot caught
in a bay window. He was left dangling there for about 30 minutes before police and
paramedics arrived.
Tiffany Campbell and John Arwood were apparently on a lot of meth when they
wound up hiding in a janitor’s college at Daytona State College in Florida. Apparently,
Campbell and Arwood thought they were locked in the closet, so they stayed there for
two days before finally calling the police. As it turns out, the closet was unlocked the
entire time. Apparently, meth makes things very confusing.
Joey Miller and Matthew McNeilly reportedly broke into several apartments while in
deep disguise. Evidently, when the police pulled them over, they still had their permanent-marker disguises scribbled on their faces.
Gary Rough held up a bookmaker’s in Scotland with what the clerk believed to be a
firearm. As it turns out, it was a cucumber with a sock on it. Rough earned a 40-month
sentence for his produce-related crime.
A lady in Costa Rica attempted to steal a flat screen TV by putting it up her dress,
between her legs. Apparently, store employees noticed that something about the
woman looked off.
Dorian Walker-Gaines and Dillan Thompson stole an iPad and some other belongings from a man’s truck in Houston. The two then posted some celebratory selfies,
which made it easy for police to apprehend them, thanks to the owner’s iCloud.
Darren Kimpton reportedly attempted to rob a house that was full of police. He had
reportedly just robbed the home, and investigators were still at the premises when
Kimpton decided to strike again.
Andrew Hennells posted on Facebook that he was planning to rob a Tesco store.
A few minutes later, he did exactly that. He certainly made things easier for the police.
