Lawton man Torrey Shawn Scallion, a convicted felon, is facing several charges after a
Christmas Eve crime incident.
Scallion was serving a suspended sentence at the time of his arrest.
According to reports, a man flagged down
a Lawton police officer in a parking lot at Second and Lee Boulevard. The man told the officer that a car he had reported stolen had
just went through the lot.
The officer stopped the suspect car and
made contact with the driver, identified as
Scallion. He told the man to turn off the vehicle and drop the keys out of the window.
Scallion didn’t do that – instead, he drove
off and parked the car in an alley between
SW Summit and SW Park. He then ran off on foot and went into an occupied
building on Park. Police tased the man as he left the building, but he was
undeterred; Scallion jumped a fence and went into another home on Summit.
Officers once again tased the man as he jumped out of a window.
An officer tackled the man, a struggle ensued, and Scallion tried to grab the
officer’s gun. He was eventually placed under arrest.
The vehicle he had been driving was positively identified as the one reported stolen.
Scallion is being charged with possession of stolen vehicle, eluding/attempting to elude police officer, aggravated assault and battery upon a police
officer, obstructing officer, breaking and entering dwelling without permission,
driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, unlawful possession of
drug paraphernalia, failure to wear seatbelt and failure to display current tag.
His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April
19, 2021.

6 | JANUARY 2021 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty COMANCHE COUNTY
Poor Chastity Eugina Hopson was so worried about her possibly-tainted meth that
she actually contacted the police about it. Officers at the Granite Shoals Police Department in Texas were trying to catch the county’s dumbest drug users when they posted
a fake Facebook story about Ebola-tainted meth. The post said, “If you have recently
purchased meth or heroin in Central Texas, please take it to the local police or sheriff
department so it can be screened with a special device. DO NOT use it until it has been
properly checked for possible Ebola contamination!””
Hopson, 29, saw the post and was understandably afraid that her meth could be...
wait for it... dangerous. She responded to the department’s post on Facebook, and
they gladly took her sample in for “testing.” Hobson was charged with possession of
less than one gram of a controlled substance.
18 year old Ruben Zarate wanted to rob a muffler shop in Chicago and demanded
money. Unfortunately it was mostly in the safe. Zarate decided that he would try again
later. To save himself some time, he left his cell phone number with the store employees. That way, they could call him when the manager returned.
Demetrius Robinson, 28, wanted to rob a Golden Pantry store late one night, but he
needed to pass the time as naturally as possible until he and the clerk were alone, so
he decided to fill out a job application. Not a bad idea, except he left his real name on
the application, along with his uncle’s phone number. After he robbed the store, it didn’t
take long for police to track him down. He didn’t get the job.
Before breaking into an apartment, Joey Miller and Matthew McNelly decided to put
on disguises. And by disguises we mean they covered their faces in permanent marker.
The thing about permanent marker is that... well it’s permanent.
After the burglary, the pair was pulled over by police and immediately recognized
because of their hair. Just kidding, it was their faces covered in permanent marker that
set them apart from the crowd.
A Kentucky woman was arrested after authorities caught her trying to shoplift merchandise while her son took part in a “Shop with a Cop” event. She was charged with
theft of less than $500 and not understanding irony.
Eoise Reaves stretched the limits of “to serve and protect” when she approached
a policeman and asked him to help her get her money back for the poor-quality crack
cocaine she’d just purchased. She showed him the crack, which she had tucked away
in her mouth, and he placed her under arrest. How does one know when crack has
gone bad?
Things were looking up for Frank Singleton when he was released from jail. However,
when he realized that he didn’t have a ride home, he walked straight into the prison
parking lot and attempted to carjack a woman. He was foiled when he realized that
he couldn’t drive a car with a stick shift. As he was re-arrested - this time, for felony
carjacking - Singleton told police that he simply “didn’t feel like walking.” We’ve all been
there.
A West Palm Beach, FL man was arrested on a slew of charges, and was perhaps
a bit too honest on his arrest report. He listed his occupation as “drug dealer” and was
charged with being the most obvious criminal in the history of crime.
A police impersonator in Dumfries, VA tried to pull over an off-duty officer, when the
real cop informed the fake cop that he was a real cop (this is getting confusing) the fake
cop ran away but was quickly apprehended and hauled off to a very real prison.
Charles Ray Fuller, a Texas dumb dumb, tried to cash a bogus check for $360 BILLION. To top it off, the check wasn’t even made out to him. He was arrested on forgery
charges and sentenced to a million billion years in prison.
Two men arrested in Houston were accused of stealing an iPad and using it to take
selfies that they unknowingly uploaded to the owner’s iCloud account. The men appeared in the photos displaying money they were also accused of taking from the
victim. At least they didn’t have to listen to that new U2 album!
The dumbest policeman in the world, who was making some extra cash with drugs
and prostitution, was brought to justice after driving a $170,000 Ferrari to work. Osman
Iqbal, an officer based in Birmingham England, was jailed for seven years for running
a brothel.

or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Community effort nabs teen
suspects in theft and burglaries
Two teens were placed under arrest for
their roles in multiple burglaries and vehicle
thefts on December 29. One teen was 17
years old; the other teenage suspect was Altus man Rueben Isaiah Cardenas, 18.
The suspects were arrested after police executed a search warrant at a home located in
the 1300 block of North Benson. During the
search, officers found multiple items connecting the teens to the crimes. Some of those
items included firearms, money, purses, billfolds, jewelry, clothing, and car keys.
According to reports, the community assisted in identifying the suspects by providing
police with surveillance video.
“Altus Police greatly appreciate the involvement from citizens in the Altus
community, said Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy. “Providing Police with surveillance video that eventually helped in the identification of Cardenas. Police and
citizens working together for the safety and welfare of all! Thank You!”
The 17-year-old is being charged with auto burglary, auto theft and knowingly concealing stolen property.
Cardenas is being charged with lewd molestation; larceny of automobile,
aircraft or other motor vehicle; and nine counts of knowingly receiving/concealing stolen property. He was scheduled to appear in court on January 7,
2021. Bond information was unavailable at time of print.
Additional charges are anticipated against other suspect(s) involved, as the
investigation continues.

two birds with one stone
Two people were arrested after police found
drugs and paraphernalia in their vehicle during
a traffic stop on December 13.
According to the affidavit, Duncan police officers were traveling south on 7th Street when
they saw a vehicle parked in an alley behind
a residence in the 700 block of W. Cypress,
which was suspected to be involved with the
distribution of illegal narcotics.
The officers watched as the vehicle left the
alley and pulled into a parking lot in the 800
block of West Bois D’Arc. When the vehicle left
the parking lot, the officers continued to follow. At one point, the driver neglected to signal
when turning, so the officers initiated a traffic
stop.
The driver, was identified as 39-year-old
Duncan man Timothy Marion Sumpter. The
passenger was 31-year-old Shevis Danee Jordan of Marlow.
While checking the suspects’ information, an
officer was advised Jordan had a warrant for
her arrest. She was removed from the vehicle
and put in handcuffs.
An officer saw Sumpter try to slide something under his body. He asked the man to
hand it over. Sumpter gave the officer a large
pill bottle that he said he used to store marijuana. While shining a flashlight into the vehicle,
another officer saw a bag containing a white crystal-like substance in the
rear floorboard.
Officers went to detain the man and noticed he wasn’t wearing any
shoes. He appeared to be trying to grind something into the floorboard.
Officers removed him from the vehicle and saw a large cluster of a crystal-like substance. Officers retrieved the bag from the rear floorboard and
searched the vehicle. They also found a brown powdery substance, digital
scales, a glass smoking pipe, a container with brown residue and a hypodermic needle.
The white substance tested positive for meth. The brown substance
tested positive for heroine. The needle also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Jordan is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, possession of
controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $150,000.
Sumpter is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs after former
conviction of a felony, possession of controlled dangerous substance and
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $250,000.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court on February 3, 2021.
