WILD LIFE
A Lawton pair has pleaded guilty to murder and
accessory to murder after woman’s body was
found in the wildlife refuge last year.
On April 22, Tevin Terrell Semien, 29, of Lawton,
pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm after a previous felony
conviction, announced U.S. Attorney Robert J.
Troester.
On October 17, 2023, a federal grand jury returned a four-count Indictment against Semien
and co-defendant Nicole Leigh Logsdon, 24, also
of Lawton. The Indictment charged Semien with
one count of first-degree premeditated murder,
one alternative count of second-degree murder,
and one count of illegally possessing a firearm
after a previous felony conviction. Logsdon was
separately charged with accessory after the fact
to murder.
According to an affidavit filed in support of a
criminal complaint against Semien, on May 17,
2023, Karon “Dinkers” Conneywerdy Smith, 68,
was found dead in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Investigators searched Smith’s home,
which was within Indian Country, and observed blood consistent with a violent
struggle. Smith’s vehicle was missing as well.
On May 21, 2023, Texas law enforcement observed Smith’s vehicle driving
south of Dallas, Texas. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle
fled at a high speed and eventually crashed into a lake. The two occupants of
the vehicle, later identified as Semien and Logsdon, attempted to flee on foot
but were apprehended.
Semien pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. As part of his plea, Semien admitted to deliberately and
intentionally killing Smith.
On January 10, 2024, Logsdon pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to
murder and admitted to helping Semien in his attempt to avoid arrest and prosecution.
At sentencing, Semien faces up to life in federal prison and Logsdon faces up
to 15 years in federal prison. RICKEY

Farmer faces jail for breeding ‘massive mutant sheep’
A farmer has been caught illegally breeding “massive” mutant sheep
to sell to private hunting reserves for up to $10,000, a court in Montana
heard.
Arthur “Jack” Schubarth, 80, who owns a 215-acre ranch in Vaughn,
Montana, pleaded guilty to criminal charges of wildlife trafficking and
conspiracy to traffic wildlife at a court in Great Falls.
Prosecutors say he illegally used tissue and testicles from wild sheep
killed by hunters in Central Asia, and the US, to breed hybrid sheep
for sale.
According to court documents, Schubarth conspired with at least five other people between 2013 and 2021 to
create a larger hybrid species of sheep that would generate high prices from shooting reserves, where people pay
to hunt captive trophy game animals.
Schubarth’s ranch specialises in the purchase, sale and breeding of “alternative livestock” such as mountain
sheep, mountain goats and various ungulates, according to prosecutors. They claimed that Schubarth secretly
brought parts of the largest sheep in the world, the Marco Polo argali sheep from Kyrgyzstan, into America.
Marco Polo males, which are native to the mountains of the Pamir region of Central Asia, can weigh more than
22 stone with horns that span more than 5ft. They are protected species internationally and the court also heard
how they are prohibited in Montana to protect native sheep from disease and hybridisation.
Prosecutors say Schubarth sent genetic material from the Marco Polo’s body parts to a lab to create cloned
embryos. He then implanted the embryos in ewes on his ranch, resulting in a single, pure genetic male Marco Polo
that he named “Montana Mountain King” or MMK, the court heard.
Court documents stated that Schubarth worked with the others to use the Montana Mountain King’s semen to
artificially impregnate various other species of ewes and create hybrid animals. He agreed to sell one offspring to
two people in Texas for $10,000, the court heard.
To move the prohibited sheep in and out of Montana, Schubarth and others forged veterinary inspection certificates, falsely claiming that the sheep were legally permitted species, the court heard. Prosecutors said Schubarth
also sold semen from the Montana Mountain King directly to sheep breeders in other states.
“This was an audacious scheme to create massive hybrid sheep species to be sold and hunted as trophies,”
said Todd Kim, assistant attorney general. “In pursuit of this scheme, Schubarth violated international law and the
Lacey Act, both of which protect the viability and health of native populations of animals.”
The Lacey Act prohibits trade in wildlife that has been taken, possessed, transported or sold in violation of
federal or state law.
Schubarth also illegally purchased genetic material from a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, the largest wild
sheep in North America which stand around three feet tall and can weigh over 21 stone, to traffic to buyers in other
states. He paid $400 to a hunter for the testicles from one of the wild sheep, which had been shot in Montana, to
breed more of the species and crossbreed with the argali
sheep.
“The kind of crime we uncovered here could threaten
the integrity of our wildlife species in Montana,” Ron Howell,
head of state wildlife enforcement, said.
Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in
prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing for Schubarth is set
for July 11.
On a Facebook page in his name which features numerous photos of livestock, Schubarth wrote two days ago:
“We have not been able to sell sheep for about three years
now. First time in 80 plus years I’m broke.” DANNY

BLOOD TRAIL
On January 7, 2024, the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s
Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist with a homicide. Earlier that morning,
Okfuskee County deputies responded to a property
near State Highway 48 and East 1020 Road near Castle, Oklahoma. When deputies arrived on scene, they
discovered 53-year-old Harry Dam, who was deceased
from an apparent gunshot wound. Other victims were found to be physically assaulted.
OSBI special agents immediately began collecting information from the scene and determined that the property is a marijuana grow site and multiple suspects had forced
entry onto the property.
On January 27, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home invasion
robbery at another marijuana grow site. They contacted the OSBI and requested investigative assistance. Through the course of the investigation, several suspects were
identified.
On March 7, OSBI special agents, Stephens County investigators, Texas Rangers, the
Waco Police Department, and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Police Department arrested 50-year-old Yi Lee, 31-year-old Justin Stewart, 36-year-old Artist Stewart,
45-year-old Ricky Harris, and 29-year-old Timothy Evans in Texas. 35-year-old Andre
Dawson was arrested several days later. They were all charged in connection to the Stephens County robbery.
On April 24, OSBI special agents, the United States Marshals Service, and the Oklahoma City Police Department arrested 24-year-old Dillon Brown, 18-year-old Isavier Dawkins, 38-year-old Holland Mason, and 23-year-old Kayla Green in Oklahoma City. Those
four suspects and Lee were charged in connection to the Okfuskee County homicide
and robbery.
This investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to
contact the OSBI
at tips@osbi.

AROUND THE STATE
On March 30, 2024, the Texas County Sheriff’s
Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation to investigate the suspicious disappearance of 27-year-old Veronica Butler and
39-year-old Jilian Kelley.
Their vehicle was found abandoned near Highway 95 and Road L, south of
Elkhart, Kansas, in rural Texas County. OSBI special agents immediately began
investigating the vehicle and determined there was evidence to indicate foul play.
On April 13, 43-year-old Tad Bert Cullum, 54-year-old Tifany Machel Adams,
50-year-old Cole Earl Twombly, and 44-year-old Cora Twombly were arrested in
Texas and Cimarron Counties. All four individuals were booked into the Texas
County Jail on two counts of First-Degree Murder, two counts of Kidnapping,
and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree.
On April 14, the OSBI, FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation, Texas County
Sheriff’s Department, and the Office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner
recovered two deceased persons in rural Texas County. Both individuals will be
transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine identification, as well
as cause and manner of death. This is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone with
information regarding this case is asked to contact the OSBI at [email protected]
or 1-800-522-8017.

TEARS OF A CLOWN
A Hydro man is facing felony charges after he allegedly robbed a convenience store clerk at gunpoint
wearing a clown mask.
Cole Parker Green, 22, was charged April 15 with
robbery with dangerous weapon, in Caddo County District Court.
According to a press release by the Caddo County
Sheriff’s Office, on April 12, at around 11:15 a.m., the
Caddo County 911 Communications Center received a 911 call from the clerk at the
Cobb Creek Store on Highway 152. The clerk advised 911 she was just robbed at gunpoint by a white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt, mask, and she said he fled the scene
in a newer maroon Ford 4-Door truck.
Reports state the suspect was wearing a clown mask and was smoking a cigar.
Sheriff Spencer Davis began coordinating a response to the Cobb Creek Store and
deploying deputies in multiple directions to attempt to locate the fleeing suspect. During
the investigation, the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office Investigators began working with
multiple agencies, the 911 Communications Center and utilized multiple resources to
gain information that would assist in the investigation.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., an arrest was made in the Cobb Creek Store robbery.
Green was arrested near Weatherford by Caddo County Investigators, Deputies and the
OHP.
When investigators questioned Green, he admitted he had made a bad choice and
owed people some money, and had a cocaine problem, according to reports.
Bond for Green was set at $100,000 and he was ordered to next appear in court on

TREE HUGGER
36-year-old Altus man Jessie Ray Baxter allegedly tried to bribe an officer after he drunkenly drove into a tree on April 19.
According to reports, Baxter was apparently
under the influence of alcohol when he crashed
his vehicle into a tree. He left the scene of the
crime, but Altus police officers later caught up
with him and placed him under arrest. They noticed that he smelled strongly of alcohol.
Officers also searched the man’s vehicle, and
they found a bottle of liquor in the front seat cup holder. Baxter allegedly offered to pay officers to avoid going to jail.
Baxter is being charged with offering a bribe to an executive officer, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene
of an accident involving damage, and reckless driving. His bond was set at
$10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 27, 2024. TONY

GRADY COUNTY MAN SENTENCED
TO SERVE 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL
PRISON FOR CHILD ABUSE
On April 23, Evander Dayle Yanito, 33, of Grady
County, was sentenced to serve 120 months in
federal prison for child abuse in Indian Country,
announced U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
On May 16, 2023, a federal grand jury charged
Yanito with child abuse. According to an affidavit
filed in support of a criminal complaint, on August
19, 2022, Yanito reported to medical personnel
that a two-month-old infant was having difficulty breathing. The infant was transported to a Grady County hospital and later to OU Children’s Hospital, after
which law enforcement began an investigation.
While at OU Children’s Hospital, Yanito spoke with members of the Chickasha
Police Department and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, and admitted to causing bodily harm to the infant victim.
On September 13, 2023, Yanito pleaded guilty, and admitted that he willfully
injured and harmed the infant victim, and that he was responsible for the infant
victim’s health, safety, and welfare.
At the sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton sentenced Yanito to
serve 10 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
In announcing the sentence, the court noted the vulnerability of the infant victim
and evidence indicating the infant victim was abused on more than one occasion.
This case is in federal court because Yanito is a citizen of the Navajo Nation
and the crime occurred within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation.

22 | MAY 2024 GRADY COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

DRUG DEALING FOR DUMMIES:
CHAPTER 2
In This Chapter You Will Learn:
• Rule Number One: Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Two: No Matter What, Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Three: If You Are Gonna Transport Drugs Don’t Do Stupid &#!t!!
• Rule Number Four: K-9’s Can Smell Your Dope
To truly understand the importance of the four basic rules listed above, let’s look at what happened last year
to Anthony Riposta and Aaron Esposito, who not only forgot basic rule number one, but apparently didn’t follow
any of the basic rules and as such, found themselves in jail with the other drug dealers that couldn’t follow the
rules either!!
Not only did they forget the importance of not being a scumbag drug dealer, but they also forgot that if you are
going to be a drug dealer, you better not do dumb stuff like making an illegal turn. As is often the case when you
violate these simple, but yet important rules, the Deputies usually show up, a big giant dog sniffs your vehicle, and
then you get cuffed and stuffed in the back of a patrol car as we seize your illegal drugs!!
In yet another classic example of what happens when you ignore the advice provided in “Drug Dealing For Dummies”, a deputy stopped a vehicle being driven by Riposta and made contact with him and his little friend Esposito.
The deputy then gets a little help from his friends, another deputy and his K-9 deputy partner, who alerts on the
vehicle, and then Riposta and Esposito are soon on their way to jail!!
Located during a search of the vehicle on the dash were three orange pills that were subsequently determined
to be Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine. Also located on the dash was a single broken white pill that field-tested
positive for cocaine, and 35 additional orange pills that were determined to be Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine.
The pills were contained in a green prescription bottle with the prescribed persons’ name ripped off. The pill bottle
was located in the center console of Riposta’s vehicle, next to two prescription pill bottles with Riposta’s name on
them.
As a result of the vehicle search, Riposta was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled
Substance and given a free ride to jail, where he got some nice, slightly used shower slides and a gift certificate for
a Honey Bun from the inmate commissary!!
Oh and his little friend Esposito…yeah he took the ride too as a lawful search of his person produced four
baggies that were hidden in his underwear that contained a clear crystal substance which field-tested positive
for methamphetamine and weighed a total of 13.7 grams. He also had two baggies containing a white powdery
substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl and weighed a total of 8.9 grams. Additionally, he had three orange
pills that were identified as Buprenorphine/
Naloxone, and five purple pills that were
identified as Alprazolam/Xanax that were
also hidden in his underpants as well!!
Esposito was subsequently placed under arrest for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of a
Controlled Substance Without Prescription.
Esposito also got a luxurious package at the
jail when he arrived, that included shower
slides, tailored striped suit, and a thorough
search by our very accommodating staff
since he likes to hide stuff in his undies!!
