Lawton Man Sentenced to Serve a Decade in Federal
Prison for Shooting During Road Rage Incident
Martavious Arnez Gross, 23, of Lawton,
was sentenced on October 23 to serve
120 months in prison for possessing a firearm during a road rage incident on the H.E.
Bailey Turnpike while subject to a domestic
violence protective order, announced U.S.
Attorney Timothy J. Downing.
On January 8, 2020, Gross was charged
with possession of a firearm while subject to a domestic violence protective. On
March 10, 2020, he pled guilty to this offense.
According to court documents and public record, on December 11, 2019, Gross
was riding in a vehicle driven by co-defendant, Nathan R. Rollins, Jr. Rollins and
Gross believed they were cut off by another driver on the turnpike and they caught
up to the other vehicle. Gross rolled down
his window, yelled at the other driver, made
obscene gestures, brandished a firearm for
the driver of the other vehicle to see. He
then fired at the vehicle with the handgun.
In responding to a related 911 call, an
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper located
Rollins’ vehicle, clocking in at 106 miles per hour. After stopping
the vehicle, the law enforcement found the handgun that was fired
in the incident by Gross, an AR-15 rifle loaded with a high capacity
magazine, two black masks, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Rollins and Gross were subsequently arrested.
Senior U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton sentenced Gross to serve
120 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
In imposing the sentence, Judge Heaton noted the serious nature
of the offense conduct and Gross’ significant history of violence
against domestic partners and law enforcement officers.
Judge Heaton had previously sentenced co-defendant Rollins to
serve 120 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm after a
prior felony conviction.

Jailbirds needs a route delivery and setup person for our Southwest OK
counties route. This is all one route and is delivered on the 2nd weekend of
each month. This is commissionable, contract labor and earnings are 10% of
the money collected, which is approximately $350+ each delivery. We prefer
someone who lives in one of these counties but will consider someone close.
We need someone with dependable transportation and a clean record. We
need motivated, clean, presentable people to represent us. This job works great
for couples. If interested please email your resume to [email protected]

STATE AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES MAKE ONE OF THE LARGEST METH
SEIZURES IN STATE HISTORY
More than 100 kilos of methamphetamine has been seized as part of
an investigation into drug trafficking in the northeastern part of the state.
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) Spokesman Mark Woodward says
his agency, along with the Grove Police Department started the investigation after developing information regarding large quantities of meth being
moved into the area.
“Over the past several days, investigators have conducted numerous interviews and served Search Warrants at multiple locations in Grove, Oklahoma in northern Delaware County. As a result, we’ve seized weapons,
cash and 231 pounds of methamphetamine which is one of the largest
meth seizures in our agency’s history.” ---Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman
Woodward says the 231 pounds of methamphetamine has a street value of nearly $2 million. Five people have been arrested in connection with
the case. Their names are not being released at this time as the investigation is still on-going. They face a variety of charges, including Trafficking
Methamphetamine.

An Altus woman was taken into custody after
she swiped a police unit with her car while allegedly driving drunk.
Kimberly Newsom, 55, was charged October 23
with aggravated driving under the influence and
leaving the scene of accident involving damage,
in Jackson County District Court.
According to Altus Police Department, Newsom
was arrested on October 21 at around 9:30 p.m.
after a motorist reported a possible drunk driver.
Officers responded to the area of Hardy and
North Navajo and observed a vehicle, a white
Daewoo, matching the description given by the
witness. A responding officer was forced off the
roadway by the driver of the Daewoo in the 400 block of North Navajo.
That vehicle sideswiped the Altus patrol car, resulting in minor damage.
After the accident, Newsom continued southbound on Navajo, leading
officers on a short pursuit that ended in the 100 block of North Grady.
Newsome was arrested without further incident and transported to the
Jackson County Jail. There were no injuries reported. The patrol unit suffered damage to the entire drivers side of the vehicle.

OSBI RENEWS REWARD AND RELEASES SKETCH OF
MAN IN CARINA SAUNDERS MURDER CASE
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is releasing a sketch
of an individual that agents would like
to speak with regarding the Carina
Saunders case. The sketch was made
based on the description of a man seen
in the area at the time of Carina’s death.
He is not a suspect or a person of interest; he is someone agents would like
to speak with to see if he has any information that might be helpful to the
investigation.
Additionally, in connection with the October anniversary of Carina’s remains being discovered, the Bureau is offering a $10,000 reward for information in the case.
Carina was 19 at the time of her murder. Her dismembered remains
were discovered behind a Bethany grocery store on October 13, 2011.
The case was investigated by the Bethany Police Department until the
OSBI was requested in April 2013. Over the course of the OSBI’s investigation, hundreds of reports have been written, dozens of search warrants
have been issued, interviews have been done, evidence has been collected and analyzed, and agents have even dug at several locations searching
for additional evidence. To date, the OSBI has not named or arrested a
suspect(s) in the case.
Carina’s case is highlighted in the OSBI’s Cold Case playing cards. The
decks of cards are distributed
through the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Inmates can
purchase the playing cards at the
canteen. The hope is that an inmate playing a card game will
recognize a face or a case and,
if that inmate has information that
can be helpful, he/she will then
contact law enforcement.
If you recognize the man in the
sketch or have any other information related to the murder of Carina Saunders, contact the OSBI
at (800) 522-8017 or tips@osbi.

More than 100,000 children and
youth in the U.S. foster care system are awaiting permanent families. National Adoption Month is a
time to raise awareness about the
adoption of children and youth
from foster care.
The Children’s Bureau in partnership with AdoptUSKids and
Child Welfare Information Gateway sponsors the initiative each November as a way to focus public attention on the urgent need for adoptive families for children and youth waiting
in foster care for a permanent family. This year’s focus, “Partnering for
Permanency,” builds on the social media theme from last year. A special
web page on Information Gateway’s website helps child welfare professionals, prospective adoptive parents, and youth partner for permanency.
The website contains resources, stories, and videos on topics such as getting started with social media, how to build a recruitment campaign, and
how social media impacts child welfare and adoption. The website can be
found at http://www.childwelfare.gov/adoption/nam/.

A 29-year-old Chickasha woman allegedly started
the month of November with a blaze after she set a
home on fire on November 1.
According to reports, first responders were dispatched to investigate a house on fire in the 1200
block of California. No one was in the home, and the
fire department was able to put out the flames.
While investigating the incident, the fire chief noticed that the power was out at the home and some
papers on the dining room table had apparently
been set on fire. He suspected that the fire was a
result of arson. The estimated damage to the house
was between $8,000 and $10,000.
Tara Faith Wilkinson had lived at the home with another person for a little
bit. That other person had a victim’s protective order against Wilkinson.
During the investigation, officers also learned that a video game console
and some other things were missing from the residence.
On November 4, authorities placed Wilkinson under arrest. They found
