Connell C. Williams, 33, from Virginia,
pled guilty Feb. 25 to first degree murder in
the starvation death of a ten-year-old boy
on Fort Sill Army Post, according to a press
release issued by Sanford C. Coats, United
States Attorney for the Western District of
Oklahoma.
“Marcus was a ten-year-old boy who was
robbed of his life and subjected to a horrific
and agonizing death by starvation,” Coats
said. “Although nothing can bring Marcus
back, I am gratified that Connell Williams
has accepted responsibility for his crime. By
pleading guilty, he will be in a federal prison cell for the rest of his life and never again harm a child. I thank the investigators and the
prosecution team who worked tirelessly to seek and obtain justice for Marcus in this case.”
Williams, an enlisted member of the United States Army, was assigned as a PFC to the
214th Fires Brigade at Fort Sill in Comanche County in August 2010.
Court proceedings showed that in September 2010, Candice C. Holloway, 32, from Norfolk,
Virginia, and her two children moved into Fort Sill military housing with Williams. Williams
and Holloway were not married and Williams is not the biological father of the two children.
From early 2011 through May of 2011, Williams and Holloway intentionally withheld food
from Marcus as a form of punishment, which ultimately resulted in his death on May 5, 2011.
Marcus was ten-years-old at the time of his death.
Williams and Holloway were charged by indictment with first degree child abuse murder
on September 7, 2011. On April 16, 2012, Holloway pled guilty to first degree murder in exchange for an agreement to serve a 30 year term in prison, followed by a five years of supervised release, and to cooperate with the prosecution and testify against Williams at his trial.
The Department of Justice originally sought the death penalty against Williams. The
trial began the week before and Holloway testified against Williams last Feb. 22. In exchange for Williams’ plea of guilty to first degree murder and acceptance of a life sentence,
the Department of Justice agreed to withdraw the notice to seek the death penalty. The
Court accepted this guilty plea early and Williams will receive a sentence of life without
the possibility of release.

A Lawton man was arrested along I-44 during the early morning hours of Feb. 10 after a Comanche Nation police officer spotted him driving erratically near Key Gate.
Christopher Castillo, 21, was charged with DUI the next day.
According to the police report, at around 3:20 a.m., Officer
Wendall Galloway spotted Castillo’s truck traveling east on 44
at the Key Gate exit weaving back and forth from the right lane
to the left lane and back, almost hitting the center median. Galloway followed the truck and turned on his dash cam.
Since Galloway didn’t have jurisdiction on the interstate, he
called in to OHP’s dispatch to ask permission to stop the truck.
While he was waiting for authorization, Galloway saw the truck
weave several more times, twice driving on the right shoulder.
Finally, near mile marker 62 in Caddo County, he received the
authorization he needed.
Castillo pulled his truck over after Galloway initiated his traffic lights. Galloway could immediately smell the strong odor of booze when he walked up to Castillo’s driver side window.
OHP Trooper Fitzwater soon pulled up to the scene and conducted a field sobriety test,
determined Castillo was indeed impaired, and placed him under arrest. He then asked Galloway if he would transport Castillo to the Caddo County Jail since he already had another
person in his car he needed to take to jail.
At the jail, Castillo blew a .15 BAC on the breathalyzer test. He was then booked in and
charged with DUI.

Three people from Ohio were taken into
custody along 1-40 near Hinton Feb. 22
after a routine traffic stop yielded approximately 25 pounds of marijuana from inside
their vehicle.
Jason D. Brooks, 38; Andrew D. Brooks,
24; and Andrea Dawn Frazier, 22, all of
Mansfield, Ohio, were charged Feb. 25 in
Caddo County District Court with a felony
count of trafficking in illegal drugs.
According to the police affidavit, Bureau
of Indian Affairs Officer David Conley, who
is also a member of the 6th District Attorney’s Drug and Violent Crime Task Force,
was driving eastbound along I-40 when he
noticed a black Infiniti with an Ohio tag
swerving on the highway. He activated his
emergency lights and the car pulled over.
Conley and another officer made contact
with the driver, Frazier, who, it turned
out, didn’t have a driver’s license. Andrew
Brooks was in the front passenger seat and
Jason Brooks was in the back.
Conley became suspicious by Frazier’s
lack of identification and the car being
owned by someone else, so he called on a K9
partner to do a free air sniff around the car.
Santos, the drug-sniffing dog, alerted the officers to the presence of narcotics. During a
search, 25 pounds of marijuana was found
in the car’s trunk and back seat.
Frazier and her passengers were arrested
and taken to Hinton for processing and then
on to the Caddo County Jail where they were
booked without incident.

A 24-year-old Gracemont man faces assault charges after he attacked another man with a machete during a fight.
According to the police affidavit, Lange, his cousin, and the victim, got into an altercation at Lange’s home. Lange told deputies the
victim attacked him with a tire tool, so in self-defense, he swung a
machete at him, but didn’t know if he made contact.
After the altercation was over, the victim and Lange’s cousin went
to the Anadarko ER with an injury to the victim’s hand. When deputies interviewed the two men, they got a completely different story
than that of Lange’s.
The cousin and the victim told deputies they were walking toward
Lange’s house when they heard Lange yelling at the victim to leave
his property. They then got back into the victim’s truck to leave, but Lange came at them anyway with the machete and struck the victim’s door. The victim then got out of his truck and
he and Lange got into a fight. His cousin then tried to break the pair up, but Lange started
swinging the machete and the victim began yelling, “My hand!” They got back into the truck
and drove to the Anadarko ER.
The attending physician told deputies he was sewing up the victim’s hand to keep it
from bleeding, but he would need to go to OU Medical Center for surgery the next day.
After getting written statements from all involved, Lange was arrested Feb. 20 and
taken to the Caddo County Jail where he was charged with assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon.

There are times in our life when
others hurt or anger us. We sometimes
feel a strong desire to settle the score.
Proverbs 20:22 says Do not say, ‘I’ll
pay you back for this wrong!’ Wait for
the Lord and he will deliver you.”
The feelings that drive us to revenge
are powerful and strong, their
destructive nature can consume us.
The Bible responds with a “Do not...”
statement, not just a word of teaching
or advice but this verse is worded with
the strength of a command.
We would be better off to stifle the
thoughts of revenge early and quickly;
we should not even speak about it. When thoughts of revenge come we should
redirect them to thoughts of waiting on the Lord.
There are many reasons why we need to wait for the Lord to act. To wait without
giving in or compromise is a statement of faith. To wait is a testimony that we
believe in the promises of God and his commitment to us.
We are to wait, not for time to heal all wounds, or wait for an opportunity, or
wait for the sake of waiting, we are to wait for The Lord. We wait on purpose
for the one who created all things and has power to change all things, he is the
one who rules the universe and will judge the hearts of all men. We wait and we
should focus on the Lord and not our anger.
This verse ends with a conditional promise. The condition of course is not to
act on our desire to get revenge but to wait for the Lord instead. The promise is
that he will deliver. It suggest that the Lord will make things right, but it is not
specific; will the Lord deliver us from our enemies, or the situation or maybe
more importantly from ourselves and our bitterness?
As much as we need to be delivered from our own enemies we also need to be
delivered from our desire for revenge. It may be that even though God is a just
God he is more interested in changing our natures than balancing justice. He
allows circumstances in our lives to give us the challenges we need to grow. He
may sometimes deliver us not from our oppressors but from ourselves.

Under cover drug agents defuse a mini meth lab found inside a
porta-potty in the middle of a golf course in Purcell.
Staffers noticed strange sports drink bottles with chemicals inside
the porta-potty and called police.
Officers arrived and soon realized someone had been inside making
meth using the “shake and bake” method.
Three bottles were found, two of them exploded before detectives
arrived.
Agents were able to neutralize the third one without the harmful
chemicals erupting.
“If someone would have been in the porta-pot when it happened
they might have gotten hurt by the flying plastic and the chemicals,”
Purcell Dt. Cpl. Scott Stephens said.
Investigators said they have a lead on one suspect but said they
believe others could be involved.
The inside of the unit was damaged but agents were able to submit latent fingerprints to a
crime lab.

sitting stationary just after midnight Feb. 16 on the turnpike when he
saw a silver car pull off the road and onto Exit 1. The car sat there a
few minutes and then cut across into the center lane and continued
on northbound.
Suspicious, Johnston caught up with the car and activated his
emergency lights. The car pulled over at Exit 2.
The driver, Ibarra-Juarez, gave Johnston his Mexico ID, but did
not have a valid Oklahoma or Texas driver’s license. He ran a check
on Ibarra-Juarez and he did not have any wants or warrants, but
he placed Ibarra-Juarez under arrest for not having a license. His
passenger, a woman from Mineral Wells, who claimed Ibarra-Juarez
was her boyfriend, had a Texas ID, but no driver’s license, either. Her
record was clean, also.
During an impound search of the car, Johnston found a Wrigley’s
5 cardboard gum wrapper with a plastic baggie in it. Inside the baggie was a white, powdery substance. The woman claimed she didn’t
know what it was and it wasn’t hers.
At the Cotton County Jail, an interpreter was brought in to speak
with Ibarra-Juarez since he was limited on his English vocabulary.
Johnston asked him what the powdery stuff was in the gum wrapper
and he admitted it was cocaine. He also admitted it was his and his
girlfriend knew nothing about it.
Ibarra-Juarez was then booked into the jail and the woman was
released.
