LEAVING THE SCENE OF
ACCIDENT
A feisty 71-year-old Enid man attempted to show police officers that he
still had some spunk left in him when
they tried to detain him, but it didn’t do
him any good.
Harold Parks was taken into custody
anyway and charged Nov. 4 with unlawful possession of CDS (meth) with
intent to distribute, resisting arrest,
and possession or selling of paraphernalia in Garfield County District Court.
It all began Nov. 2 as a simple welfare check call answered by Enid police
officers Aaron Barber and Stephanie Cardwell, according to the
police affidavit. When they arrived at the residence, they noticed
a car parked in the roadway in front of the house. When they
checked on the occupants, they immediately saw the passenger,
Jeremy Rankin, 34, shoving a meth pipe in between his legs.
When Barber asked him to step out of the car, Rankin did so, but
the pipe was left behind in the seat, along with a $20 bill.
Rankin was immediately placed under arrest.
Barber then asked Cardwell to detain the driver, Parks, as
he also appeared to be hiding something. When Cardwell tried
to cuff Parks, he pulled away from her. By the time Barber got
Rankin to sit down, Cardwell and Parks were in a full blown fight
and he elbowed her. Barber ran to assist, but Cardwell had already forced Parks up against the trunk of the car. When Barber
grabbed Parks by an arm, Parks threw a meth pipe into the yard
with his free hand.
Knowing he was out-muscled, Parks gave up. When Barber
asked Parks what his problem was, Parks replied, “You’re about
to find out.”
And, boy, they did.
The officers found a digital scale and numerous clear plastic
baggies in Parks’ back pocket. Another bag with a large amount
of meth inside it was also found. Another officer on the scene
searched for the pipe Parks threw and found it, along with a Royal Crown bag with a clear plastic bag with a white residue inside.
A search of the vehicle revealed more baggies and a prescription bottle labeled D-Amphetamine. When Barber searched
Parks’ phone, he found evidence Parks was dealing in pills and
meth.
Rankin and Parks were taken to jail and booked. Barber
weighed the bag of meth at the police department and found it
weighed 10.9 grams.

Police out helping keep the streets clean arrested
a man suspected of stealing a street sweeper.
According to Sacramento Police, offi cers out on
patrol near Truxel Road and Brewerton Drive saw
a street sweeper truck peel out of a parking lot and
onto the street.
The truck promptly ran a red light – and didn’t
have its headlights on – prompting the offi cers to try
and pull the street sweeper over. However, police
note, the driver pushed on and didn’t stop until he
had hit three parked cars. The driver then bolted
from the truck.
A police perimeter was set up in the area, but
the suspected driver – 18-year-old Lavonn Dill –
eventually surrendered himself to a K-9 offi cer.
Dill now faces charges of fl eeing, possession of a
stolen vehicle and hit-and-run charges.
A Florida man who was doing a mean-spirited
Santa Claus impression might be spending Christmas
behind bars after getting caught in the chimney of a
Naples, Fla., home during an attempted burglary.
Richard Tyler Brandon, 25, got trapped in a
chimney after running out of cash during a night
out. His friend, Derek Grenfell, alerted two Naples
police offi cers about the situation after it became
apparent Brandon was stuck.
A team of police offi cers and local fi re department
offi cials broke into the home and saw Brandon’s foot
hanging in the fi replace.
“I said, ‘Dude, you’re not Santa Claus, what are
you doing?’” Grenfell reportedly said to the police.
It took two hours, but Brandon was freed from the
chimney and taken to the hospital for treatment of
issues including leg pain and trouble breathing. It
could have been worse.
“There is a chance he could have died,” said
Naples Detective Robert Young. “That space he was
jammed into was really tight. He couldn’t move.”
Brandon was hit with two burglary charges and
Grenfell was charged as an accessory to the crime
after the fact.
A Vero Beach, Fla., man who was angry with his
wife left a phony bomb on a kitchen counter, an
Indian River County Sheriff ’s Offi ce spokesman.
Randolph Smith, 51, was arrested on charges of
aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, planting
a hoax bomb and resisting arrest without violence.
Deputies received a call from a woman who said
her husband left a gray pipe with a wire protruding
from one end on the kitchen counter. There were
several hand-written notes on the counter, including
one that read, “This is (an) explosive. (It’s) a bomb.”
Smith’s wife told deputies she is in the process of
getting a divorce.
The bomb squad was called and determined that
the device didn’t contain any explosives.
Deputies tracked Smith down at a Burger King
and arrested him. During questioning, Smith tried to
leave the interview room and had to be handcuff ed,
according to the arrest report.
Smith told detectives that he left the hoax bomb
on the counter because his wife “pissed him off .”

An Enid man with “unusual
strength” was finally taken into
custody after he fought the law,
but the law won.
Lance Cruz, 21, was charged
Nov. 20 with aggravated assault
and battery on an officer and false
personation in Garfield County
District Court.
Enid police officer Aaron Barber was on patrol Nov. 18 when
he noticed an SUV with a badly
broken windshield. He pulled the
vehicle over near a hotel on South Van Buren and the
driver immediately got out and started walking toward
the hotel. Barber stopped him and told him the reason
for the stop.
The driver produced his license and security verification and no illegal items were found on him. However,
Barber could smell the odor of marijuana coming from
the car when he checked on the passenger, Cruz.
Cruz gave the officer a false name and started acting
very nervous. Barber called for backup and Officer Leroy
Palmer arrived soon afterwards.
Cruz admitted to Barber that he had smoked marijuana
earlier in the day. Barber did not find anything illegal on
Cruz, but when he checked the vehicle, he found a black
bag that contained paraphernalia and meth inside it.
Barber grabbed Cruz by the arm and told him he was
under arrest, but Cruz was not going to have any part of
it. He spun out of the officer’s hold and shoved him. Barber shoved back, but Cruz regained his footing. Barber
tried to force him to the ground, but they ran into a glass
window at the hotel and Cruz began punching Barber.
Palmer then joined the fight, but the two officers were
having a hard time gaining control over Cruz because of
his “unusual strength.”
Finally, Barber wrapped his arm around Cruz’ neck
forcing him to the ground. He continued to struggle, but
the officers got him restrained and cuffed.
Barber found Cruz’ ID in his wallet and asked why he
had given a false name. Cruz said he knew he had warrants out for his arrest, five for Garfield County, to be
exact.
At the police department, Barber weighed the meth he
had found in the SUV; it was 1.6 grams.

“Be of sober spirit,
be on the alert. Your
adversary, the devil,
prowls around like a

someone to devour.
But resist him” (I Peter
5:8-9).
Everything was going
well for you. Money in
your pocket. You wanted
to spend it. You knew
how to spend it. Your
choice was a sobering
experience.
The Bible says you
have an enemy who
wants to destroy your
life. To trap you. Your
choice was a bad one.
You had a wreck. Picked
up for possession. You didn’t control your anger. The roaring lion
caught you. You failed to “resist him”. Deceived.
The devil catches people by getting them to think, “It’ll be OK!”,
when it isn’t OK. You were devoured! It doesn’t need to happen
again. Seek God and you will find Him (Acts 17:27).

December is National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention
Month, a time to raise awareness about the consequences of
driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Get the Facts
• Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor
vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol- impaired driver. (Source:
CDC)
• In 2010, there were 431 alcohol- related motor vehicle fatalities
in Ohio. (Source: Ohio DPS)
• Of drivers tested, 1/3 of fatally
injured drivers in Ohio tested
positive for drugs from 2005-2009. (Source: NHTSA)
Drugged Driving Prevention
• All drivers must understand that drugged driving is as dangerous as drunk driving and
that driving under the influence of certain prescription medications is considered impaired
driving.
• As with a drunk driver, never ride in a car with a driver you suspect is under the influence.
Drunk Driving Prevention
• Designate a sober driver before celebrations begin.
• Never serve those under the age of 21 alcohol.
• Plan safe parties, including providing non-alcoholic drink options to guests and not
serving alcohol the last hour of the gathering.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Hello to all, and Happy
Holidays! By the time you read
this, you will have probably made all your holiday travel plans, if
you are going somewhere, or have people coming to your home to
celebrate. The roadways will be extra busy, and with a lot of people
traveling at the same time, the chances for accidents also go way
up. I’m going to give a few tips on how to minimize your chances
of being involved in an accident, and some ways to help insure your
holidays are safe.
Every year, we work a lot of accidents on people who are “running
late”. Speed plays a major role in accidents, as well as the severity of
an accident. Speed decreases reaction time, which a driver needs to
be able to react to anything that happens in front of them. What is
the best thing you can do to not be “running late”? Simply plan your
holiday travel a little in advance. You know what time you and your
family get off work, or get out of school, so plan your departure time
accordingly. Give yourself plenty of time for delays, bathroom and
snack stops, etc. Also, if you are running late, its OK! The people
you are going to see would rather you be late, than not arrive at all
because you were involved in an accident.
Another major factor in holiday accidents are a result of
celebrating, and then making a bad decision. I’m not going to tell
you not to enjoy your holiday, and if partaking in some egg nog or
other alcoholic drink is part of your celebration, that’s fine. Just
don’t decide to drive after you drink. Drinking and driving is a
decision, not an accident. Planning here goes a long way towards
a safe holiday. If you know you are going to drink, plan on staying
where you are, or have a designated driver.
Another thing you can do to stay safe is wear your seat belt. The
accident may not be your fault, and you may be doing everything
right, and could still end up in the hospital or worse, because you
didn’t have your seatbelt on. Even minor accidents can cause
significant damage to us if we are not properly restrained. Every
Trooper on the road has worked a fatality accident which we all
know in our heart would not have resulted in death had the person
been using a seatbelt. It takes no time to put on, but it may be the
most important thing you can do this holiday season.
To sum up, slow down and enjoy the holiday season! Plan ahead,
and use a designated driver or stay put if you use alcohol in your
celebrations. No one wants to spend the holidays in a hospital or
worse!
Holidays are for celebration, so lets take care of ourselves and
each other. Thanks for listening, buckle up and drive safe.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Valerie W: R.I.P Prayers go out to
the family.
Shawna A: THOUGHTS FOR
THIS FAMILY .
Jay A: Sad.
Janae Marie H: PRAYERS
Brittany W: Why do we have such
lenient laws for drinking and driving?!?
This man needs LWOP at the minimum!
This poor boy and his poor parents. I
can’t even imagine....
Jerry D: Things like this makes me
wonder why alcohol is legal, but other
way less dangerous things are illegal.
Sabrah B: No im not a weed
smoker but I know ppl. But why is this
legal? How many accidents or deaths
caused of alcohol? A lot! Now how many
accidents or death has weed caused?
Answer that one. This world is getting
way outta hand. My heart hurts for this
family I couldn’t imagine. Prayers for
this boy and his family!
Jerry D: Not only the dangers of
drinking and driving,but health related
damage and mental and physical abuse.
Alcohol hurts thousands a year. Yet its
legal. Weed on the other hand helps
people, no reported deaths or ODs, but
yet its illegal. Makes perfect sense.
Desiree H: Very sad. What was he
doing riding his bike at 11:00pm. That
man should’ve been driving and that
little boy should’ve never have been out
that late riding his bike. He should’ve
been at home in his pj’s. Everyone
dropped the ball on this one.
Jerry D: Most parents now days
could care less what there kids are doing
as long as they don’t bother the parents.
Sad indeed.
Jennifer R: I was wondering the
same thing. I hope that he was coming
back from something at school or
church, not just running the streets at
that time. So sad for the family. I hope
they find justice
LittleWeasel W: But wait
according to folks who love to get drunk.
Alcohol has never hurt anyone.
Virginia I: No blame except for
the person who hit the child, A family
has lost a son,brother,grandchild,friend
May God protect and cover this family
in this awful time
Ruby H: Billy was riding his bike
home from a church event called eternal
fraternity. It’s something for kids to do
on Friday and Saturday nights.
Amy S: Who gives a sh** what
the boy was doing out that late. For
Christs sake, is it the parents fault
now that he was allowed to leave the
home? For buying him a bike? What
about what his brother had to witness? How his parents feel? You’re
first thought is “why was he out that
late”? Pathetic. Really pathetic. Tragedy happens everyday and people are
always looking for someone to pass
the blame to. God bless everyone involved in this tragedy.
Abe T: A life has been taken and all
you people can worry bout why he was
out late the real ? Why was the man
drinking and driving the kid could have
been in another car and the man driving
drunk could still have killed that kid
by hitting another vehicle this a little
kid who didn’t know he was gonna die
riding his bike home but the man knew
drinking and driving could kill someone
and it did so think about that you
heartless people if it was your kid you
wouldn’t be saying things like we’re was
the parents news flash kids get hit by
people driving drunk during the day too
Dustin K: judgemental a** people,
i swear.... it doesnt matter what the kid
was doing. his life is over and you people
wanna blame his parents?
Stephanie S: Where in this story
does it say he was riding a bike? It’s
horrible to hear ANOTHER person has
lost a life due to stupidity...but where
am I missing the bike part?
Taken too soon
A 12-year-old Wagoner boy was killed Nov. 9 by a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Chief
of Police Bob Haley said the boy was riding home with his
brother when he was hit by an SUV.
Haley said the two brothers were northbound on North
Story Avenue near N.E. Ninth Street just before 11 p.m. Billy
Lord, 12, was struck by a northbound SUV driven by Richard Roth of Wagoner.
Roth left the scene but later returned, Haley said.
The other brother was not injured.
Haley said Roth, 34, was booked on anticipated charges of manslaughter
and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Any other charges will
await the results of a blood test, but police do have reason to suspect alcohol
is a factor, he said.

A Perry man was definitely not loving it
after a drunken run to McDonald’s for food.
The drunken delivery man was arrested
after he was pulled over for speeding down
Highway 77 in Perry.
According to the affidavit, a Perry officer
was on patrol Dec. 4 when he observed a
vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate
of speed. According to the affidavit, the officer watched as the vehicle pulled up to a
stop sign and came to a stop well past the
stop sign.
The officer activated his emergency lights to conduct a traffic
stop. The suspect vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a nearby bar.
The officer made contact with the driver, a man he knew from
previous contacts as 30-year-old Wade Alvin Weaver. Weaver exited his vehicle, but the officer told him to get back in the vehicle.
As the officer approached Weaver, he immediately smelled an
overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Weaver’s
breath and person.
He asked Weaver how much he had had to drink, and Weaver
told him a few beers. Weaver added that he had gone to McDonald’s
to pick up food for fellow bar patrons.
After confirming that Weaver had a valid license and no outstanding warrants, the officer conducted field sobriety tests to determine
if it was safe for Weaver to be driving.
According to the tests, Weaver had been a danger behind the
wheel of a car. The officer placed Weaver and handcuffs. He refused
to take the state’s test and was taken to jail.
At the jail, Weaver was allowed two phone calls. During one call,
the officer overheard Weaver telling someone that he had only consumed six beers after he left their house.
Weaver is being charged for driving a motor vehicle while under
the influence of alcohol. His bond was set at $2,500.
I’m not loving it

On Friday, October 18, an Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against
Children Task Force member from the Edmond Police Department
arrested Stephen DeWayne Huckeba, 52, at his residence. The case
was initiated by an Edmond detective into the distribution of child
pornography on the Internet. Huckeba distributed more than a
dozen child pornography videos to the detective.
Task force members from the Edmond Police Department,
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Oklahoma Attorney
General’s Office, with the assistance of the Logan County Sheriff’s
Office, served a search warrant at Huckeba’s residence, 200 East
Rock Circle Drive in southern Logan County.
During the search of the residence, several computer-related items
were located and seized. Huckeba admitted to the Edmond detective that he distributed and
possessed child pornography images and videos.
The computer items will be taken to the Edmond police computer laboratory for forensic
examination. The case is still under investigation to determine if any local children are in any
of the images.
Huckeba was booked into the Logan County Jail and is charged with one count of
distribution of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, and
violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.

A Cashion man was taken into
custody Nov. 12 after he allegedly tried to run over a man
and his daughter walking their
dogs along a country road. He
missed the people, but ran over
a dog, killing it.
Brandon Botchlet, 27, was
charged Nov. 14 with two counts
of assault with a deadly weapon
and one count of cruelty to animals in Kingfisher County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, the victim told a Kingfisher County deputy that he and his 12-year-old daughter were walking down a country road outside Cashion
with their dogs when Botchlet came flying down the road
toward them. He said he waved at Botchlet to slow down,
but Botchlet slammed on his brakes and got out of the
truck. The two men then began to argue about Botchlet’s
speed, and Botchlet eventually got back into his truck.
The man said Botchlet put the truck in reverse and tried
to hit him; he had to jump into a ditch to avoid being hit.
Unfortunately, a dog wasn’t so lucky.
During questioning, Botchlet said the man had flipped
him off as he passed the two, and when he got out of the
truck to confront the man, the man attacked him.
Botchlet was placed under arrest and booked into the
Kingfisher County jail. He was ordered to have no contact with the victims and to return for his preliminary
hearing Feb. 13, 2014. Bond was set at $10,000.

Craigslist crazy man
Anthony Brinkman, a 32-year-old Missouri man, was jailed Nov. 1
after he allegedly posted an ad on Craigslist seeking an individual who
would be willing to rape his daughter while he watched.
According to St. Louis Police, an investigation was launched after
Brinkman posted an ad on Craigslist seeking an individual who would
be willing to have sex with his 11-year-old daughter while he watched.
Someone who saw the ad clicked the “report abuse” feature on the
site, and the report was forwarded to the Missouri Internet Crimes
Against Children Task Force.
Investigators say a female undercover officer posing as a 27-year-old
woman responded to Brinkman’s ad and discussed his request.
Brinkman reportedly told the officer that he was looking for someone
who would engage in sex with his daughter using various sex toys. As
the conversation continued, Brinkman told the officer that he wanted
her to be his girlfriend and planned to participate in the assault.
Brinkman agreed to meet the undercover officer at a nearby Cracker Barrel restaurant. If all
went well, Brinkman planned to bring the officer to his home where the assault was to take place.
When Brinkman showed up at the restaurant, officers were surprised to see that he brought
the little girl with him. After Brinkman’s arrest, his daughter was released into the custody of
other relatives.
A search warrant was then served at Brinkman’s apartment in Cuba, Missouri. Investigators
are awaiting the results of a forensic examination of his computer.
He was booked into jail and charged with attempted statutory sodomy. He remains held in lieu
of $100,000 bond.
The case remains an open investigation and additional charges are expected.

A Ringwood man became irate after he was pulled over for speeding,
and the deputy asked him about his
dog.
On Dec. 3, a Major County deputy
was on patrol in Ringwood when he
observed a vehicle in front of him
that appeared to be speeding. According to the affidavit, the deputy
engaged his radar and found that the
vehicle was traveling 44 mph in a 30
mph zone.
The deputy activated his emergency lights and pulled over the vehicle.
He made contact with the speedy driver, 25-year-old Zachary Tanner Blackwell, who angrily asked the deputy why he
had been pulled over.
The deputy told him it was because he was speeding and
asked him if it had had a reason for his excessive speeds.
The deputy asked Blackwell where he was going. Blackwell
said he was going home and that he just lived about a mile
down the road.
The deputy asked Blackwell for his driver’s license; after verifying the information, he was advised that Blackwell’s license
had been suspended.
Earlier that day, the deputy had been notified to check on a
dog that was apparently tied up and appeared to be malnourished, according to the affidavit.
Due to where Blackwell said he lived, the deputy asked him if
he had a black dog that was tied up at his house.
Blackwell said yes, and the deputy explained that they had
received a complaint about the dog being malnourished and
that he had been at the house earlier to verify the report, but
no one had been home.
Blackwell replied that “no one touches his dog, or he would
kill whoever tries.”
The deputy warned him that he needed to start taking care of
the dog or he would be charged with animal cruelty.
Blackwell became irate and asked who made the complaint.
Blackwell became even angrier when the deputy informed
him that he was being arrested for driving with a suspended
driver’s license.
He was arrested and taken to jail.
Blackwell is being charged for speeding and driving under
suspension. He was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2, 2014.
Don’t touch my dog!
