Cesar E. Leon, owner and operator of Cesar’s Tax Service in Enid,
pleaded guilty this week to making
and subscribing a false 2009 tax return, according to Sanford C. Coats,
United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.
Leon was charged by information
on January 12, 2015, with filing a
false tax return for the 2009 calendar year.
As part of his guilty plea, Leon
admitted that he caused a tax loss
amount of between $80,000 and
$200,000 to the Internal Revenue
Service (“IRS”). He further agreed to pay restitution to the IRS for
all taxes due and owing for the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012
calendar years.
At sentencing, Leon faces up to three years in prison and a
$250,000 fine.

Another New Year has come,
and with it, millions of people
have made resolutions to improve
some aspect of their lives. Some of these resolutions are doomed
from the start for a multitude of reasons. Even though successfully
sticking with and accomplishing a New Year’s resolution goal may
not seem to directly relate to driving safely, I’m going to try and
give some tips on increasing your ability to stick to a resolution,
and tie it in to how it could actually make you a safer driver!
Some of the more popular resolutions are to lose weight, get in
shape, or quit smoking. Each one of these are great goals. So to
achieve a goal, a person must clearly define the actual goal. For
quitting smoking, that one is pretty clearly defined as it is. For the
other, some more clarity is needed. How much weight do you want
to lose? How long are you giving yourself to get there? Once you
define these goals and time lines, write them down somewhere! Put
them somewhere that you are reminded of them each day. Make
sure your goals are reasonable, and attainable. It won’t do any
good to set goals that are unrealistic!
Next, we need to write down how exactly we plan to accomplish
our goals. For smoking, are you going cold turkey, using the patch,
or incrementally cutting down how many cigarettes you smoke a
day until you aren’t smoking at all? For losing weight, write down
your workout program, and schedule. Write down your diet goals
and track it religiously. Try to find someone who will join you in
your workouts and diet. Having someone to count on and someone
counting on you is a great support system for you in your efforts.
Last, tell as many people as you feel comfortable. Get people on
your side to support you, and hold you accountable to your goals
when you have moments of weakness! Believe in yourself! Have a
positive attitude about what you are trying to accomplish.
So how do accomplishing these goals help you be a safer
driver? Studies have shown that people who exercise and eat
right have sharper mental focus. Since a significant percentage
of accidents are caused due to inattention, improved focus will
obviously pay off while driving! Exercise will help improve handeye coordination, which is a big positive while driving! A healthy,
smoke-free body minimizes the risk of heart attack and other
medical issues that could be tragic anytime, not just behind the
wheel.
So there you have it. Successful accomplishment of some of
the most popular New Year’s resolutions will not only have you
slimmer, healthier, and happier, but can have an impact on your
ability to be a safer, courteous driver! Thanks for reading, buckle

A Glencoe man faces several years in prison after he was caught
with drugs during a traffic stop north of Lake McMurtry on Frontier
Road.
Ronald Lee Miller, 42, was charged Jan. 20 with possession of
CDS, two counts of knowingly concealing stolen property, possession of tools by previous burglar, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Noble County deputy
was traveling westbound on Frontier Road just before 2 a.m. when
he came upon another vehicle that didn't dim its brights. The deputy turned around and activated his emergency lights and stopped a
gray 2-door Honda. Miller was behind the wheel.
The deputy asked for the standard information and all checked
out okay, except Miller had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The officer informed him
of the warrants and placed him under arrest.
During an inventory of Miller’s vehicle, the officer found a syringe loaded with meth, a bag
of syringes, bolt cutters and other tools, and several small pieces of copper.
At the Noble County jail, the deputy interviewed Miller, in which Miller admitted that the
liquid in the syringe was meth, and that he and another guy were in cahoots with the stolen
copper. Miller would not tell the deputy who the other person was.
Miller pled guilty on Feb. 11 to possession of CDS and to one count of knowingly concealing stolen property, and the state dismissed the other charges against him without costs. He
was sentenced to 8 years in the custody of the Department of Corrections, both counts to run
concurrent. He was also ordered to pay fines and court costs.

Authorities say a woman in China got angry
after finding out he was having an affair, so
she chopped off his penis twice.
According to the New York Post, the man,
32, used his wife’s cell phone to send his mistress a steamy love note.
He failed to log out of his account and his
wife found the message later.
The New York Post reports that the woman
snapped, grabbed a pair of scissors, then cut
the man’s penis off while he slept.
The man was taken to the hospital and doctors successfully reattached his penis.
However, the man’s wife somehow managed to get into his hospital room and
hacked his penis for a second time, then tossed the appendage out the window.
Authorities conducted a thorough search but were unable to find the man’s
missing penis.

BURGLARY - FIRST DEGREE
Two men arrested in Houston are accused of stealing
an iPad and using it to take selfies that they unknowingly
uploaded to the owner’s iCloud account.
The men appeared in the photos displaying money they are
also accused of taking from the victim.
Investigators arrested the pair on theft charges late Jan. 21.
The iPad, other electronics and thousands of dollars were
stolen from the victim’s truck Jan. 8. He later noticed his
iCloud account had images of the men holding $100 bills.
Some stolen items were dumped behind a Starbucks. The
victim believes his iPad connected to the Starbucks Wi-Fi and
the images synced to his iCloud account.
He shared the images with the media. The photos ended
up online, helping authorities identify the suspects as Dorian
Walker-Gaines, left in photo, and Dillan Thompson.

According to OSBI, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 30, the
Dover police chief made a traffic
stop on a suspected drunk driver on
highway 81 on the north end of the
city. A Kingfisher County sheriff's
deputy quickly provided backup to
the stop.
Steven Andrew Smith, 36, exited
the vehicle and reportedly pulled
out a knife. The officers made numerous demands for Smith to drop
the knife.
The Kingfisher County sheriff's deputy fired his weapon when
Smith reportedly made a threatening gesture toward the officers.
Smith was hit twice in the chest.
The El Reno man was transported by ambulance to a hospital in
Kingfisher and then medi-flighted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City to recover.
The Dover police chief called OSBI to investigate the shooting. The
OSBI will present the district attorney with a written report once the
investigation is complete.
