A Hennessey man was charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor June 11 after police found a woman who said he got
physical with her during an argument.
At 1 p.m. on June 3, Enid police officer Kyle Pierce went to
a home in the city, where he saw an injured woman with her
friend. The friend told Pierce that Bobby Richards, 32, was at the
home, and when the woman was standing in front of the passenger side of Richards’s maroon Ford Ranger, he accelerated and
ran her over. Richards then left the scene, she said.
Pierce reported seeing acceleration marks that led across the
sidewalk, driveway and street, which matched her description.
Later, Pierce and another officer spoke with Richards at an
apartment, where he denied running over the woman, saying
she had “just fallen as he drove away.” When asked why he didn’t stop to see if she was ok,
Richards said, “You only stop if you care about the person.” Despite this, Richards said he
knew he was going to jail.
Later at the hospital, the woman said Richards ran her over during an argument, and she
had tire tread marks and a large cut on her thigh to prove it, Pierce noted.
Richards faces two charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count
of leaving the scene of an injury accident. He remains in custody on a $500,000 bond and
has court set for 1:15 p.m. July 15.

A pair of Enid would-be burglars was arrested June 16 after police caught them running around a demolition site uninvited.
Around 7:45 p.m. that day, officer Aaron Barber received a call to go to the 500
block of South Van Buren after a report of
two men going through building material.
He arrived to see two officers at the scene
questioning James Wade, 57, and Robert
Boswell, 27. Boswell was holding a coil of
insulated copper wiring and Wade was taking apart a refrigeration unit, Barber said.
One of the other officers said Wade told
him his name was Jack Ford, but he believed
Wade was lying. Barber received consent
from Wade to look inside his wallet, and
he confirmed the other officer’s suspicions.
When asked why he lied, Wade looked down
without answering the question, Barber
said. Boswell was at the scene to gather cinder blocks with permission, he said.
Soon after, the owner of the demolition
company arrived and said he would cooperate with having Boswell
and Wade criminally charged. Boswell was arrested on a complaint
of intending to steal copper.
Wade was initially arrested for obstruction, but when police began
to search him, they noticed he had two clear plastic bags of methamphetamine in his pockets. He told the officers he found the meth in
a garage and planned to throw it away. Also, he had a butterfly knife
and a plastic bag with green powder, Barber said.
In an interview after his arrest, Wade said he did not know what
the green powder was but said again he planned to throw it away.
Bowell posted a $2,500 bond June 24, but Wade remains in custody on a $5,000 bond. Both have court set for 1:15 p.m. July 22.

Patrick Stapleton, a 22-year-old Maryland man,
was jailed after his idea of a prank went painfully
wrong.
According to Lothian Police, Stapleton was over at
a friend’s home at about 4 a.m. when he had the illconceived idea of shooting his sleeping friend in the
buttocks with a BB gun.
Investigators say Stapleton grabbed a .40 caliber
handgun, which he believed was a BB gun, and fired
one round into his 21-year-old friend’s buttocks.
The owner of the home was not present during the
shooting and the hand gun belonged to the homeowner’s son, who was not involved in the shooting.
The victim was transported to Prince George’s
Hospital Center where he was treated for his injury.
Stapleton was booked into jail and charged with second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

A man driving a stolen car that went into a ditch
fl agged down the wrong person for help.
Dean Gangl, 40, of Richmond, Minn., unwittingly asked an off -duty sheriff ’s deputy to help
him pull the vehicle out of a ditch along Benton
County Road 4 west of Foley, Minn., Sheriff Brad
Bennett said.
The deputy, who came upon the stranded motorist at while he was on his way home, noticed that
the vehicle in the ditch matched the description of
one reported stolen hours earlier in St. Cloud. The
deputy radioed to dispatchers, who confi rmed the
man was driving a stolen car, Bennett said.
The deputy arrested Gangl and found that he
was in possession of a white crystal substance.
Gangl tested positive for methamphetamine, Bennett said.
He was taken to the Benton County Jail and
charged with being in possession of controlled substance and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
A house burglar was arrested at a court when he
showed up for another case, police said. The man
kicked in the back door of a home and entered
but ran off when a teenage girl who was lying on
a couch saw him and started screaming, Nassau
County police said.
The girl identifi ed the 49-year-old man, who
had multiple prior arrests for burglary, in a photo
lineup, they said.
The man, from Bayville, was arrested by an offi cer when he went to First District Court for an
unrelated issue, police said. He was charged with
second-degree burglary.
A Perth man has been charged with drink driving three times in 24 hours, his menacing spree
ending with a bizarre incident at a police station.
The 46-year-old was fi rst stopped by Boddington police in the Perth hills and charged with driving under the infl uence and driving with a suspended license.
He was spotted driving his car again a short time
later and arrested for drink-driving, police said.
The man’s car was impounded in the Boddington police station but early the next morning, the
man allegedly jumped over the fence of the police
station, broke open a padlock on a back gate and
drove away in his car.
He was caught and arrested again three hours
later and charged with three counts of driving under the infl uence; three counts of driving while under suspension and one charge of trespass.
He’s been refused bail.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Jody A: Probably needed money for
drugs!!!!!
Geoff R: Child stealing? I think it’s
pronounced kidnap lol
Charla H: What a ding dong!!
Tena S: Ugh!!! Ignorance is running
rampant these days! Smh
Chris S: Dumba**es nowadays lol. Hide yo
kids
Caleb W: Child stealing huh? Is that what
they call it these days?
Mark W: And the Father of the year
is..........
Shannon W: Child stealing???? Um okay
........
Robert S: I would be insulted that my kids
were worth only $100.
Shane O: What a dumb a**
Jeremy G: Drew Brees?
Chris V: i guess he had to say child stealing
so the idiots reading will understand lol
Suzanne L: Wow....... Selling your
children back to the other parent sure is
something....... Parent of the year right
there.......
Donna A: Omg what happened to
kidnapping?!?!?!
Jon P: I love child stealing
Lee W: Idk about Child stealing ... Maybe
Kidnapping!
Dora H: He oughta be horse whipped
Brandi W: It doesn’t say he is the father of
these kids!!! And child stealing just sounds
ridiculous its kidnapping regardless!!!!
Jake R: How is somebody with such a bad
a** last name such a b**ch...
Carla N: I don’t think they were his kids.
Kimberly J: Child stealing is an actual
charge. I don’t know what differentiates
it from kidnapping (other than the fact it
doesn’t roll as easily off the tongue).
Becky P: why do these insecure stupid
girls get with these worthless guys ? better
yet why do they bring them around their
kids ? to me they are just as guilty
Sonya C: “Child stealing” is very closely
related to kidnapping. However, kidnapping
is considered a crime against the kidnapped
person. Whereas child abduction or child
stealing is also considered a crime against
the parent of the abducted child.
Brenda S: What a f’n idiot a**hole
Eric H: Thief
Mary N: Becky, clearly you are a saint.
I’m glad that you have never been wrong or
trusted someone that didn’t deserve it.
Myke R: Yes, Dora , I’d horse whip him - if
I had a horse
Eddy C: Kidnapping, Child Endangerment,
Extortion...
Crystal S: Dish*
Donna M: What a Pr**k!!
Myke R: @donna- who me ?
Elisa W: Becky, why ya gotta be so sexist
Donna M: @Myke....no not you.....

Darla L: What a loser!
Shelly M: Really ?!? $100.00 ?!? What

committing a crime? Crazy
Tina S: What an idiot

Three Perry men are in jail after they were arrested June 11 for
allegedly attacking a man with a baseball bat.
According to the police report, an officer with the Perry Police Department was dispatched in reference to a fight in progress.
When the officer arrived, he saw the victim lying on the ground
with a large amount of blood coming from his head. The victim’s
wife was crying hysterically and told the officer to call an ambulance.
Once the ambulance arrived and transported the victim to the
hospital, the officer spoke with the victim’s wife.
The wife told police that one of the suspects had called her husband and told him to come to a Perry residence. When the victim
and his wife arrived, three men attacked the victim and struck him
with a baseball bat. The wife told the men she was going to call the
police and said they ran into the house when they heard sirens.
Police went to the residence to speak to the suspects. The suspects, 37-year-old Jamie Eugene Horton, 19-year-old David Ray
Lofton, and 25-year-old Frederick Allen McFall, alleged that the victim had come to the residence to start “s---“ and they had handled
it by fighting him.
The three men were arrested and taken to the Noble County Jail.
Once at the jail, Horton refused to speak to police.
Lofton told police that he had seen the fight, but went back inside
the residence to sleep because he is on a suspended sentence. McFall said the victim came to the home to fight Lofton. He added that
the victim started walking toward him in an aggressive manner, so
he hit him twice in the face.
The three men are being charged with a felony charge of conspiracy, assault and or battery by means or force likely to produce death
and their bonds were set at $50,000 each. They are scheduled to
appear in court Aug. 19, 2013.

Registered Sex Offenders for The Area
FACT:
If someone sexually assaults an adult,
he will not target children as victims,
and if someone sexually assaults a child,
he will not target adults.
False. Research and anecdotal evidence
indicate that while some sex offenders choose
only one type of victim (e.g., prepubescent girls,
post-pubescent boys, adult women, etc.), others
prey on different types of victims. Therefore, no
assumptions should be made about an offender’s
victim preference and precautions should be taken
regardless of his crime of conviction.

Anger is not
always wrong,
but what we do
with our anger
d e t e r m i n e s
whether we are
acting righteously
or sinfully.
We should be
angered by acts
of ungodliness,
unrighteousness, injustice, and inequity. These things anger
God as well.
But if you are angry because someone has disturbed
your pride, self-sufficiency, status, prestige, or power.
your reaction will likely be sinful. And sinful anger is often
expressed in harshness, cruelty, bitterness, and a lack of
control.
We must examine our hearts when our kids make us angry.
If it is righteous anger, let it motivate you to take action and
deliver consequences. Sin needs to be addressed, and we
honor God by delivering those consequences with empathy
and love. If it is sinful anger, pray for the courage to confess
it, repent, and resolve it.
Examine your anger to determine the motives behind it.
(Ephesians 4:26-27) 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger
control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still
angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

A self-admitted perpetually high Hennessey man was arrested after he admitted to doing drugs and transporting meth.
According to the affidavit, Hennessey police were dispatched
to a gas station in reference to a fight.
A man told them that he had been out of town working and
family members told him that his brother, Anthony Vargas,
27, had lost his job and had been doing drugs and drinking
heavily.
The man said he went to check on Vargas and a scuffle ensued. Vargas drove off and the man followed him to the gas
station.
When police arrived, Vargas was walking around the parking lot and appeared upset. He told the officers that he was
working for a federal agency that deals with people trying to
scam money from others. According to Vargas, he was working a case and was about to make a bust, but the police and his brother had screwed it up.
An officer asked Vargas who he was working for and he replied that he had the information
in his truck.
Vargas pointed to the temporary tag on his vehicle and said, “I made that…I made that
tag.”
Vargas began going through papers in his truck. He handed an officer a $2,946.60 check
that was made out to a company and said, “I took this off of a guy.”
The officers asked Vargas if he was high and he replied, “Yes. I’m always high.” He explained that he stays high because he does good things when he’s high.
Police asked if there were any drugs in the vehicle. Vargas replied, “Of course,” and held up
a clear plastic baggy that contained a large amount of a white crystal-like substance. He told
police that the substance was meth.
Vargas was placed under arrest. Police asked him if he had anything illegal Vargas told
them there was a glass pipe in his right front pocket. The officer found a glass pipe with burnt
residue in it.
No other illegal items were found on Vargas, but police found another baggy in his truck
that a substance that later tested positive for meth.
Vargas is being charged with a fifth offense driving with license canceled/ suspended/ revoked, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000 and he is scheduled
to appear in court on Aug. 8, 2013.

2013 for some reason seems to
be the year of the drowning. There
seems to have been a large number
of drownings so far on Oklahoma lakes and waterways, the majority
of which could easily have been prevented. I am going to cover
some of the rules on wearing Personal Floatation Devices, as well as
some strong suggestions regarding them, in the hopes that we can
slow down this alarming trend!
First, let me just say that there are 5 types of PFDs. I’m not going
to get into their descriptions, just which types are required for what
situation. All PFDs must be U.S. Coast Guard approved, and used
in accordance with their label. The label will also state the type. All
vessels must carry one wearable (Type I, II, III, or V) USCG approved
PFD for each person on board or being towed. In addition to that,
vessels 16 feet in length or longer must have one Type IV USCG
approved PFD on board and readily accessible. Oklahoma Law
requires that all children under 13 years of age wear an approved
PFD whenever underway in a vessel less than 26 feet in length. Each
person on a personal watercraft or sailboard must wear an approved
PFD. Anyone being towed on water skis or similar devices must
wear an approved PFD. Ski belts are not approved PFDs.
Now, besides being USCG approved, all PFDs must be: In good
serviceable condition. They must also be readily accessible. Readily
accessible means you must be able to put the PFD on in a reasonable
amount of time in an emergency. PFDs should not be stowed in
plastic bags, in locked compartments, or have other gear stowed on
top of them. They must also be of the proper size for the intended
wearer. Sizing for PFDs is based on body weight and chest size. A
good way to test this, especially for children, is to put it on, adjust
the straps, and have the wearer raise their arms up, and try to pull it
up off them. If it can come off, it is not the right size for the wearer.
Those are the requirements, so now lets talk about the suggestions.
If you have children in or around water, make sure they have a PFD
on. Air mattresses, floaties, and other toy floatation objects don’t
count. There have been way too many stories of toddlers near the
water’s edge falling in and drowning, and these could be prevented
by following this suggestion.
Also, keep a watchful eye on those kids...even if they are only out
of your sight for a few seconds, its long enough for them to get in
trouble around the water. Last, wear one on boats even if you don’t
have to. In an emergency, you may not have enough time to put it
on.
Thanks for reading, buckle up those PFDs and seat belts, and be
safe!

A Helena man unleashed his verbal wrath upon a Major County deputy June 30, and by doing so, it landed him in jail.
According to the police affidavit, a deputy with the Major County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to investigate reports of a drunk driver. The
deputy located the suspect’s vehicle and stopped him with his patrol car.
The deputy saw the suspect, 39-year-old Shadlow Wayne Buffalohead, approach the patrol car on the driver’s side. The deputy exited the
vehicle to speak to Buffalohead and could smell a strong odor associated
with alcohol on the Helena man’s breath.
Buffalohead had slurred speech, glassy eyes and an unsteady stance.
He told the officer that he had drunk an 18-pack beer earlier. He added that his friend Luke
had driven him there, but did not reply when asked where Luke was.
Buffalohead refused to take a standard field sobriety test and the deputy placed him under
arrest for public intoxication.
The ostensibly drunk Buffalohead was placed into the patrol car and the deputy began to
read him the implied consent.
Buffalohead began to unleash a barrage of less-than-complimentary statements on the
deputy including things such as “you are nothing more than a piece of s---,“ “shut the f---up,
I don’t have to be quiet,” and “I’ll just kick your f------ a--.”
The deputy was unable to finish reading Buffalohead the implied consent due to his mounting belligerence. The angry, drunk man was transported to the Major County Sheriff’s Office.
