DON'T BRING A
KNIFE...
A 27-year-old wanted on several warrants
was shot by Enid police after he brandished a
knife at them on June 24.
According to reports, Enid officers were attempting to serve warrants to Dominique Terry
Jackson at approximately 2:20 a.m. at the Chisholm Trail Motel in the 2900
block of N. Fourth. While they were at the motel, Jackson rushed toward
officers with the knife.
Officers shot him several times.
EMS then transported the man to the local hospital; he was then taken to a
hospital in Oklahoma City to be treated for his injuries.
No officers were injured.
Jackson was wanted out of Grant County on several warrants. Those warrants included failure to appear for lewd molestation and forcible sodomy.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
Formal charges, bond information, and court date were unavailable for the
shooting incident at the time of publication, but he was charged with failure
to register as a sex offender on June 27.

An Alva man is being charged with second-degree burglary after he used a counterfeit $20 bill at the local Family Dollar-Dollar
Tree on June 22.
According to reports, an Alva officer was
dispatched to the store at approximately 8:45 p.m. The manager told
him that approximately 15 minutes earlier, a man went into the store and
used a fake $20 bill to buy some items. The manager handed the cash
to the officer, who confirmed it wasn’t real. The texture of the bill was off,
and it said, “This is a replica.”
The manager identified the suspect as 32-year-old Casey Lynn Burson.
She gave the officer the man’s address. The officer went to Burson’s
residence. He confirmed that he went to the store and bought some stuff
with the $20 bill. He also told the officer that he knew the bill was fake.
Burson said he sold a speaker to a man in Cherokee who paid him with
two $20 bills. He said he didn’t know the bill was fake when he went to
the store. He said when he got home, he talked to his wife, who said the
other $20 bill was also fake. He then ripped up the other fake $20 bill.
The officer noticed that the man’s story kept changing. The man’s wife
said she didn’t know anything about a fake $20 bill.
The officer asked Burson to see the pieces of the other bill. Burson
went to the kitchen and tried to turn away as he pulled the bill out of
his pocket. He then crumpled it up and pretended to take it out of the
trashcan. The other fake bill was still intact. It also said, “This is a replica.”
Burson is being charged with forgery in the second degree. A personal
recognizance bond was scheduled against Burson, and he is scheduled
to appear in court on July 17, 2023.

DNA MATCH HELPS SOLVE RAPE
AND KIDNAPPING CASE FROM 2007
On June 2, charges were filed against 40-yearold Isaias Barron in a rape case dating back to
2007.
In 2007, the Tulsa Police Department investigated a reported rape with the following details: The
victim stated that she was walking and was offered a ride by a man in a truck.
She did not know the man, but she felt safe because the truck looked nice and
clean. The victim reported that the man introduced himself as ‘Jose’ and offered
her money in exchange for sex. The victim stated that ‘Jose’ continued to attempt to persuade her to have sex with him for money, and she continued to tell
him no. She said that she became concerned when he was not taking a direct
route to where she wanted to go. She said that she tried to get out of the car
while at a stop light, and that ‘Jose’ reached across her and held her against the
seat, telling her that she wasn’t going anywhere. The victim reported that ‘Jose’
parked the truck and raped her while holding a knife.
The Tulsa Police Department was recently made aware of a CODIS hit in this
case. The DNA recovered from this case in 2007 matched to a known profile of
Isaias Barron. Barron had been previously arrested in July of 2020 for Attempted
Rape, First Degree Burglary, and Sexual Battery. In that case, the 83-year-old
victim reported that she was in her house when she heard the doorbell ring.
When she opened the door, the suspect forced his way into her home and
sexually assaulted her. That suspect was later identified as Barron, and he was
convicted in Tulsa County District Court after a jury trial and sentenced to 16
years in prison.
Barron was interviewed in prison by Special Victims Unit Detectives about the
2007 case. Barron denied ever having met the victim, denied ever picking up a
prostitute, and stated that he did not know how his DNA was on her. Barron is
now charged with 1st Degree Rape and Kidnapping in the 2007 case.
Barron remains in the Davis Correction Facility in Holdenville for his previous
conviction.

An Oklahoma man, who has an extensive criminal
record from multiple counties across the state from
east to west, is facing more charges after he allegedly
brought drugs into jail after he was arrested in Kingfisher County.
Joseph Gregory Hayslip, 38, was charged June 26 with bringing contraband (meth)
into jail and possession of controlled dangerous substance (meth), in Kingfisher
County District Court.
Hayslip was also charged earlier in the month, on June 5, with possession of a
stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on May 19 when he was accused of stealing a
GMC 2500 flatbed pickup.
According to court records, Hayslip was arrested and booked into the Kingfisher
County Jail. Officers then discovered he had meth on his person.
The crime of bring contraband into jail, if convicted, is punishable by 1-5 years in
the state penitentiary or a fine of $100-$1000, or both imprisonment and fine.
The crime of possession of controlled dangerous substance (meth), if convicted,
is punishable by not more than one year in jail and by a fine of not more than$1000.
Bond for Hayslip was set at $4000 and he was ordered back to court on July 25. MIGUEL
