DESPERATE MEASURES
An Enid mother and grandmother were arrested for
allegedly chaining a 17-year-old special needs teenager to a couch.
According to reports, two employees were installing fiber internet at the home on October 7 when one
of them saw the victim. The employee called 911 and
asked for a welfare check. The employee told the dispatcher, “We need a welfare check done on the customer we’re installing. She has her daughter chained
to a couch and the daughter has special needs.”
When officers arrived at the home, they found the
teen sitting on a recliner couch. She had a chain
around her left ankle. The chain was locked with a
padlock and was attached to the frame of the couch.
The teen had significant scarring and scabs, leading investigators to believe she had been chained up
for quite some time.
When officers asked why the 17-year-old was
chained to the recliner couch, the teen’s grandmother, 59-year-old Mildred Perez told them that the
teen was stronger than them and always tried to run
away. She also said the teen was dangerous to herself and others.
The girl’s mother, 35-year-old Jennifer Perez added
that the police and DHS didn’t help them, so they had to chain her to the
couch.
Both women also told officers that the teen’s scarring and scabs were from
a dog bite. Investigators, however, didn’t believe the injuries were consistent
with being bitten by a dog.
Both women are being charged with abuse by a caretaker and conspiracy
to commit child abuse or in the alternative. Their bonds were set at $150,000,
and they are scheduled to appear in court on November 21, 2022.

6 | NOVEMBER 2022 GARFIELD COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
A Florida man was arrested after allegedly storming
the field and attacking a 9-year-old boy during football
practice.
Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies arrested David
Alan Taylor, 41, last month in Pensacola.
Deputies said that Taylor’s son was taking part in
one-on-one tackling practice with another player, when
Taylor’s son was overpowered and started crying.
That’s when witnesses said Taylor ran out on the field,
put a helmet on his head, got into a football stance and
then charged the victim, intentionally hitting the boy in
the chest with the helmet.
Deputies said Taylor then grabbed the victim by the arms and pushed
him to the ground.
Witnesses said the boy was crying, but was not seriously hurt and did
not require medical attention.
Deputies said Taylor then yelled, cursed and approached the coaching
staff in an aggressive manner before he was finally stopped.
Taylor was arrested and booked into the Escambia County jail. He was
charged with aggravated child abuse and disorderly conduct, and has
since bonded out of jail.

16-YEAR-OLD STUDENT BRINGS GUN TO
WOODWARD HIGH SCHOOL
A 16-year-old student was arrested on
November 3 for allegedly bringing a gun
into Woodward High School. The gun
turned out to be an air-soft gun.
According to reports, a group of students told a school resource officer that
a student had brought a firearm onto
campus. When the officer tried to speak
to the student, the student took off running.
The officer told the high school staff to
put the campus on lock down.
The student left the building. The resource officer chased after the student,
who surrendered.
Authorities didn’t find the weapon on the student, however, a Woodward
officer found the gun on the roof of the high school. The gun was identified as
an air-soft weapon.
Instruction resumed at the school, and students were released on time.
On a Facebook post, Woodward Superintendent Kyle Reynolds told parents and students, “The Woodward Public School Administration would like
to thank the students who brought today’s situation to our attention. This
shows that when you see something and say something, the systems and
processes we have in place to keep students safe work.
It also serves as an opportunity to review our policies and procedures, and
make any adjustments as we see necessary.
Bringing a gun to school, whether real or fake, is not a joke. It is important
to point out that bringing a gun into a school or on a campus can result in
criminal charges and in some cases, serving time in prison. In addition to
criminal charges, there are also repercussions for student discipline per our
student handbook.”

Gotta go to Braum’s...
On October 7, around 9:00 p.m., officers were
called out to an armed robbery at the Valero gas
station near 69th and S. Sheridan in Tulsa.
The caller said he was cleaning the store and
preparing to close when a man, later identified
as Devion Nelson, walked in the store, pulled out
a gun, grabbed the victim, and then demanded
money.
The caller said he fought with Nelson and tried
to stop him from going behind the counter, but
Nelson pushed him out of the way. The victim said
Nelson took cash out the drawer then hit him in
the face when he could not get to the safe before leaving.
Officers quickly converged on the area and began searching for the suspect. Officers located Nelson at a Braum’s down the street and he was
taken into custody.
When Officers questioned Nelson about the robbery, he replied something to the effect of, “I did that dumb sh*t”.
Devion Nelson was arrested for Armed Robbery.

NO EXCUSES
A 46-year-old self-described homeless man
is facing multiple charges after he failed to register as a sex offender.
According to reports, Shannon Dewayne
Campbell was charged with two felony counts
on October 18 pertaining to his failure to register.
On January 10, 2007, he was convicted of
child sexual abuse in Washington County. He
was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. A
condition of his sentence was that he is required to register with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Sex and Violent Offender
Registration Unit as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
He was booked into jail on September 20, 2022, for his failure to register.
He was released on bond.
He was arrested days later on September 27 after he again failed to register as a sex offender. A Woods County deputy gave the man the option
of registering instead of being arrested.
Campbell said he was homeless, but he listed a Waynoka address as
his mailing address.
Transients are required to report to law enforcement authorities every
seven days regarding their whereabouts. Campbell failed to do that.
Shortly after he was released, a Woods County deputy was advised that
Campbell had been trespassed from the address he listed on his paperwork and was not allowed to be there.
On September 27, an Alva officer was dispatched to some apartments
in the 600 block of Hart at approximately 7:50 p.m. The occupants told
police they found an unknown man lying on the couch. The unknown man
was later identified as Campbell.
The officer located Campbell at a nearby convenience store. Campbell
denied being in the apartment.
The officer took the man back to the apartments so the tenants could
verify he was the one who broke into their home.
One of the occupants brought out a shirt. Campbell admitted that the
shirt was his. He said he had worked in the apartment the previous day
and left his shirt there.
Campbell is being charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration, providing false/misleading registration information, and breaking
and entering dwelling without permission. His bond was set at $10,500,
and he was scheduled to appear in court on November 8, 2022.

State agents seized and destroyed
16,000 marijuana plants after they
busted a large marijuana operation in
Noble County.
This bust is part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement agencies to
crack down on illegal marijuana grow
operations.
In addition to the thousands of
marijuana plants, authorities also found weapons and cash at the location.
Reports state that these illegal grow operations are making millions of
dollars growing marijuana in Oklahoma before shipping it out to locations
across the country.
Agents believe that this is harming businesses who are legally growing
and selling marijuana in the state of Oklahoma.
Through the ongoing effort, agents are targeting a farm a day and continuing to make arrests, serving warrants, and seizing and destroying
plants.

GOOD GIRL, TRIXIE!
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

We have a special request from the dispatch
center we hope you will help us with.
It has been several years since we have updated the cattle log. This logbook helps identify who
has cattle at each location.
Our hope is you can help us by emailing where
you have cattle at as well as your identifying
brand/ear tag. A 24 hour phone you use for notification will also be helpful. This will allow you
quick notification if you have any cattle called in
as being out.
You can email this information to dbanther@

An El Paso, Texas, man busted into a church and absconded with the safe. Safes
are heavy, so he only got a few yards before dropping it on a neighbor’s lawn, where
he tried to crack it open. That’s when he was confronted by the home’s occupant—a
police offi cer.
Is there no honor among thieves? While two suspects were being questioned by
Ogden, Utah, police about shoplifting from a store, someone broke into their car and
stole a stereo and several other items.
How convenient! Only a few months earlier, a man from Iowa City, Iowa had his driver’s license stolen. Then who should show up at the bar where he worked as a bouncer,
but the thief brandishing the bouncer’s very own license as his form of ID.
Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni was impersonating a police offi cer when he pulled
over another car for speeding. The driver quickly sussed out that Mastrogiovanni was
fi bbing since he, too, was a cop, but in his case, the kind of cop who doesn’t have to
pretend he’s a cop because he really is a cop. Mastrogiovanni was arrested for impersonating a police offi cer.
A San Francisco thief pedaled his bike up to a woman on the sidewalk, snatched
the iPhone out of her hands, and rode away. Unknown to him, the woman was in the
middle of demonstrating the iPhone’s new GPS tracking device, which worked—the
thief was captured minutes later.
Following a dispute, Craig Aylesworth, of Bithlo, Florida, allegedly tossed a Molotov
Cocktail at his neighbor’s trailer home … just as the winds shifted, sending embers on
to his own trailer. Luckily, he was arrested, since he no longer had a home of his own
to return to.
Callie Rough of Middletown, Ohio, was picked up for shoplifting from a Dollar General
store with her two young children in tow. Among the booty was a book, 101 Ways to
Be a Great Mom.
Don’t you hate it when you suff er a heart attack and think you’re going to die, so you
confess to a 17-year-old murder, only to fi nd out you’re not going to die and then get
sentenced to life in prison as a result? Yeah, so does James Washington, of Nashville,
because it happened to him.
Clive Halford thinks big! The British career criminal stole a truck and loaded it with
18 pallets of stolen nickel and copper worth around £150,000 (about $250,000). Yes,
the haul was huge—too huge. Cops arrested Halford after the truck’s suspension collapsed under the weight. Earlier, Halford had stolen a car, overloaded it, and broken its
suspension too.
