A PAIN IN THE NECK
An Enid man with a long history criminal behavior, took his lawlessness to the next level after he allegedly stabbed a woman in the neck
and then hit her son after the boy tried to defend
her.
According to a press release by the Enid Police Department, a 911 call was received on
August 22 by EPD reporting a woman being
stabbed at a residence located in the 700 block
of N. 12th.
Officers arrived and found a 32-year-old
woman holding a towel to her neck and bleeding. The woman was transported by Life EMS to
a staging area on 30th Street and was flown to
OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she
was treated and later released.
Detectives were called to the scene of the incident and learned the woman
had been arguing with 32-year-old James Allen Schmitt, Jr. During the argument, Schmitt stabbed the woman and also struck her 12-year-old son as he
attempted to defend his mother.
Family members at the residence said Schmitt left the scene in a 2012 Nissan Rouge. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
A search warrant for the residence was obtained and executed. A serrated
kitchen knife and screwdriver were collected and taken into evidence.
Detectives also obtained a warrant for Schmitt’s arrest on complaints of
assault with a dangerous weapon and child abuse.
At 2:44 a.m. Tuesday August 23, another call was received from the same
home reporting Schmitt had returned to the residence and was seen driving
south from the area in the silver Nissan. Officer Robert Fleer saw the Nissan
turn from 10th Street onto Broadway and initiated a traffic stop in the 700
block of East Broadway.
Schmitt was arrested on the warrant without incident. He is facing two
charges of domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon, one charge
of child neglect, and one charge of plan/attempt/conspire to perform and act
of violence. His bond was set at $750,000.

A South Carolina man was caught rubbing buttered toast all over his neighbor’s SUV
window. Seems like a foolproof plan, how did he get caught? According to MSN, He
just dropped the toast a few feet away from the car and made his departure, causing
a nearby woman to notice and call the police. The police charged the now hungry man
with “malicious damage to property” and estimated the cost of damage to be about $1.
What’s the hottest you’ve ever been? Temperature-wise of course, because if it was
in physical terms, we all know we were the hottest at our 5th grade, bowl-cut, chubs
stage. But really, to what extent would you go to cool off?
Hopefully not so far you’d get arrested, but this is exactly what a group of four young
men in Germany did. On a hot day, they decided to make their own pool in a car.
In a BMW no less. A policeman noticed a very strange convertible driving down the
road. Upon closer viewing, it appeared that the bathing-suit clad men were splashing
around in the water-filled car, clearly intoxicated. Though there was no law against driving around with a pool in someone’s car, they were probably charged for driving without
a permit. Talk about hot water.
What do you guys think about sausage? I suppose it’s better than a hot dog, which
in turn is better than bologna (which is basically giant hot dog slices?). And no matter
what, it has to be better than Lunchables *shudder*.
No matter your opinion, sausage was a huge disappointment for this Phoenix man.
He attempted to rob two large businesses, first an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway.
He put his hand under his shirt to look like a gun, but the cashier was not fooled and
calmly said “no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob
a Safeway, which resulted in him being escorted out of the building. He waited a few
minutes before returning into the store to snag a small breakfast sausage and was
therefore charged with shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up an appetite.
Sometimes people don’t want their babies. Throughout history, these people have
found convenient ways to get rid of them. In the middle ages, a popular solution was
to leave a swaddled infant on the doorstep of a misfortunate new parent. Worse for the
child, another option was an orphanage. In later times, parents could even put their kid
in the circus for life. The last one, I’m actually jealous of.
It might not have been this Florida woman’s goal to give away her child, but that’s
sure what it looked like. She had gone shopping at Dillard’s, and tried to shoplift $260
worth of clothing using her baby stroller. When a police officer followed her out to her
car, she flipped out and eventually threw her baby in its little carseat at him. The baby
was not injured. The shoplifter received three charges, including “resisting a police officer without violence”. Um. What would be violent, throwing her entire family?

An Alva man was put behind bars after he stole
two crossbows from Walmart, on two different occasions, using the same method.
Reports state an Alva police officer was dispatched to the store on August 9. A store manager
showed him video footage captured on August 6.
The video showed a man wearing a red shirt ring
up an item at 3:18 p.m. The man held a barcode
from a child’s toy bow in the palm of his hand and
scanned it. A copy of the man’s receipt showed
that he paid $23.83 for a child’s bow, instead of
the actual crossbow he left the store with.
Two days later on August 8 around 5:15 p.m.,
the same man, wearing a different red shirt, entered the store and bought another crossbow using the same tactic.
The investigating officer identified the man as Dillon Von Nethercutt. He
knew Nethercutt from previous encounters.
The crossbows were valued at $398 and $228.
Nethercutt is being charged with two counts of larceny of merchandise
from a retailer. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 13, 2022.

10 | SEPTEMBER 2022 WOODWARD COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
WOODWARD WOMAN CHARGED WITH
DEATH OF TODDLER SON
A 24-year-old Woodward woman is facing a
second degree murder charge in the death of her
infant son, who passed away in December 2021.
According to reports, a Woodward police detective saw a Facebook post made by Yukeisha
Kasadey Jean Gonzalez on December 9, 2021.
The post referenced the death of a 14-monthold baby. The detective reported the post to the
Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
Later that month, the detective also requested
assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation to investigate the situation. During
the investigation, authorities learned that the male
child and his sister had trouble breathing. The boy,
who was born prematurely, and the girl were seen by a physician in October.
Gonzalez allegedly failed to do any follow up treatments as directed, despite the children still struggling to breathe. She told her boyfriend she took
the children to the hospital twice in November.
A babysitter called the woman’s boyfriend on December 9. She told him
that the 14-month-old had stopped breathing. The child was taken to the
emergency room, but hospital staff could not revive him.
The boy’s sister was treated and released.
While speaking to OSBI agents, Gonzalez admitted that she had never taken the kids to the hospital in November.
Reports state a medical examiner’s report from April 21, 2022, listed the
boy’s probable cause of death as bronchopneumonia with contributing conditions.
On April 28, the Child Protection Team at the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital reviewed the medical examiner’s report. They determined that the child
passed away due to neglect. His mother failed to obtain proper medical care
for the boy.
Charges were filed against the woman on August 16.
Gonzalez is being charged with murder in the second degree. Her bond
was set at $100,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on December
16, 2022.

With the start of school, it also
means it’s time to gear up for this
year’s Christmas with a Cop. This
is a event we have yearly and it
takes a lot of commitment to pull
it off each year. It also couldn’t be
done without the support of many
of our local businesses, civic organizations, and individuals within
our community.
One such raffle is on right now:
Oklahoma lifetime hunting and fishing license. These tickets will be $25
a ticket or 5 for $100. This license was donated by Kelly Schweitzer, Ronald Schweitzer, and Donald Schweitzer. Cash or check only. Make checks
out to Kringles Guns. 100% of the sales will go to the Kingfisher Police
Department Christmas with a Cop program. This would be a perfect gift
for a young sportsman in your family and help this great cause at the same
time.
