conviction of Dawaylon “Hog”
Rainey. Rainey shot and killed
two people August 4th inside a
Hugo apartment complex.

A Tishomingo man was arrested after he drunkenly tried to drive away from a police
officer. At least he was wise enough to admit to the officer that he was “f----- up.”
On July 29, a Pauls Valley police officer was dispatched to check on an intoxicated
male subject in a car in the parking lot of a hospital. According to the affidavit, the officer saw a silver SUV leave the parking lot of the hospital. After confirming with dispatch
that the subject had left the hospital, the officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle.
The SUV eventually parked and the officer exited his patrol car and approached the
vehicle. As the officer walked closer to the SUV, the subject began to pull forward. The
officer slapped the driver’s side rear window and yelled for the driver to stop, but the
SUV sped off.
The officer got back into his car and continued the pursuit with two other officers
joining to assist. He activated his emergency lights and sirens; the driver of the SUV
finally came to a stop and put the vehicle in park.
The officer exited his patrol car and pulled out his gun. He walked to the driver’s side
door and yelled for the driver to show him his hands and step out of the vehicle.
The officer opened the door and the driver, John Patrick Halfmann, 36, stepped out of the SUV, but refused to
comply with the officer’s commands to get on the ground.
Another officer grabbed Halfmann and took him to the ground.
After Halfmann was secured in handcuffs, police asked Halfmann if he had been drinking.
The apparently intoxicated man reeked of alcohol and stated the obvious in drunken, slurred speech, “I’m f----
up.” He admitted to drinking “a lot.”
An inventory of the vehicle produced an empty bottle of vodka in the backseat.
Halfmann is being charged with eluding/attempting to elude a police officer, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, no valid driver’s license and transporting open bottle or container of liquor. His bond
was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 6, 2013.

On July 25, an employee at a Lindsay gas
station called the Lindsay Police Department and told them that a person was trying to pay for already purchased fuel and
products with a bad check.
Police responded to the call, and an officer saw the employee walking with 28-yearold Amanda Marie Ackerson of Woodward.
According to the affidavit, the officer recognized Ackerson because she was under
current investigation for passing checks on
a closed account at another convenience
store.
Her accomplice, 30-year-old Shane
Dustin Davis, of Alex, was sitting behind the
steering wheel of a truck in the parking lot.
Police asked Davis to step out of the truck
and they noticed two 55-gallon barrels (not
approved to store flammable liquids) full of
diesel in the back of the vehicle.
The officers placed Ackerson and Davis
under arrest. Neither subjects had driver’s
licenses and both had active arrest warrants.
While conducting inventory of the truck, police found a small
metal pill container that had a small clear and blue baggy in it
containing a hydrocodone pill and crystal-like substance that later field-tested positive for meth.
According to the report, both Davis and Ackerson have previous
convictions for unlawful possession of controlled dangerous substances, but neither subject would claim ownership of the drugs
found in the truck.
Davis is being charged with possession of controlled, dangerous
substances and his bond was set at $2,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 6, 2013.
Ackerson is being charged with a felony of obtaining money by
false pretense. Her bond was set at $7,500 and she is scheduled to
appear in court on Sept. 6, 2013.

An Ardmore man found himself in the Grady County Jail after an
Alex Police Officer pulled over the car he was riding in and found
drugs and paraphernalia on him.
Branson Morton, 34, was charged in Grady County District Court
with unlawful possession of CDS with intent to distribute.
According to the police affidavit, Officer Dan Deal was patrolling
Highway 19 and Main Street in Alex when he noticed a car going
62 in a 50 mph speed zone. He activated his lights and the car
pulled over.
Deal immediately smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from
the car as he neared the driver’s window. The driver gave Deal
her information and he went back to his patrol car to write her a
speeding ticket. He then asked her to exit the car and step to the back of the car. Deal
then asked her if she had any drugs in the car and she replied she didn’t know of any.
Deal then focused his attention on the passenger, Morton. After asking permission
to search him, the officer found a baggie of marijuana in Morton’s pocket, along with a
blue pill that Morton said was a valium. Also, in the floorboard, he found a bag with two
scales inside, two large bags of marijuana, a box of sandwich bags, a cutter, a price sheet
for what he was selling it for, and two Mastercard credit cards that didn’t belong to him.
Morton told Deal the driver knew nothing of his stash and she was released to go. Morton, however, was transporter to the Grady County Jail and booked.
Bond for Morton was set at $20,000; his preliminary hearing conference was set for
September 4.

A South Carolina man was caught rubbing
buttered toast all over his neighbor’s SUV
window. Seems like a foolproof plan, how did
he get caught? According to MSN, He just
dropped the toast a few feet away from the
car and made his departure, causing a nearby
woman to notice and call the police. The police charged the now hungry man with “malicious damage to property” and estimated the
cost of damage to be about $1.
What’s the hottest you’ve ever been? Temperature-wise of course, because if it was in
physical terms, we all know we were the hottest at our 5th grade, bowl-cut, chubs stage.
But really, to what extent would you go to cool
off?
Hopefully not so far you’d get arrested, but
this is exactly what a group of four young men
in Germany did. On a hot day, they decided to
make their own pool in a car. In a BMW no
less. A policeman noticed a very strange convertible driving down the road. Upon closer
viewing, it appeared that the bathing-suit
clad men were splashing around in the waterfi lled car, clearly intoxicated. Though there
was no law against driving around with a pool
in someone’s car, they were probably charged
for driving without a permit. Talk about hot
water.
What do you guys think about sausage? I
suppose it’s better than a hot dog, which in
turn is better than bologna (which is basically
giant hot dog slices?). And no matter what, it
has to be better than Lunchables *shudder*.
No matter your opinion, sausage was a
huge disappointment for this Phoenix man.
He attempted to rob two large businesses,
fi rst an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway. He
put his hand under his shirt to look like a gun,
but the cashier was not fooled and calmly said
“no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob a Safeway,
which resulted in him being escorted out of
the building. He waited a few minutes before
returning into the store to snag a small breakfast sausage and was therefore charged with
shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up
an appetite.

An Oklahoma City man is apparently good with his hands, but
not so good at forging checks.
He was arrested after he attempted to cash what appeared to be
a forged check that he said he received in exchange for a massage
at a Newcastle bank.
According to the affidavit, Newcastle police were dispatched to a
local bank in reference to a forgery on July 12. When police arrived
at the bank, they saw a man wearing a ball cap and a blue shirt.
After confirming his identity with a bank employee, they placed the
subject, Derrick Christopher Jones, 26, into investigate detention.
A teller told police that she noticed the signature on a check being cashed did not match the signature the bank had on file for the
owner of the check. She called the owner and he said he did not know Jones and told her to
call the police.
An officer asked Jones to step outside and asked him where he had obtained the check. He
said he had received the check from the victim the night before.
Jones said the check was given to him for “personal services”; he explained that he went to
the victim’s home the night before and gave him a massage. A sexual act was also performed
and the victim gave him the check.
On July 17, the victim reported to the bank that he was missing a batch of checks.
Jones is being charged with forgery in the second degree and his bond was set at $2,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 12, 2013.

Pets seldom catch much press as
it relates to vehicles, but we have
our pets in our vehicles all the
time. To many, they are a part of the family, and go with us on
trips, to run errands around town, or just out for a ride. Just as we
treat them as part of the family, we have a responsibility to them,
including doing everything we can to keep them safe while in our
vehicles.
This summer, we have been very fortunate in the temperature
department! Only a few days so far have hit triple digits, we’ve had
pretty good rain, and it has been nice. With the temperatures lower
than they have been in the last few years at this time...it could be
easy to forget that as long as the sun is shining, the temperature
inside a parked car can still rise to dangerous levels. Leaving a pet
in the vehicle for as little as 15 minutes can end up having tragic
consequences. Even when the outside temps are in the 70’s, the
temperatures in a closed up vehicle can reach the 90’s or higher. The
best solution is to leave your pet at home. If that is just not possible,
or you choose not to, make sure that your pet has water, and leave
the vehicle running with the air conditioning on. Make sure you
don’t leave your pet for long, because the AC could go out, and then
your pet is stuck in a vehicle that is hot, and is also blowing hot air!
Many people let their dogs ride in the bed of their pickup. We’ve
all seen those dogs with their face into the wind, riding in the back
of the pickup. Please remember that the bed of those pickups are
metal, and even if they are covered by a bed liner or similar product,
the temperature can heat up the bed so hot as to be extremely
painful to your pet’s paws! Again, best solution is to leave the pet at
home, but if take them with
you, use a kennel or crate. This keeps the pet up off the hot bed
of the pickup, and also eliminates the possibility of the pet jumping
out, or even the potential of biting someone who gets too close to
the truck!
Speaking of crates, they aren’t a bad idea for inside the cab either.
Ever see a dog in the lap of a driver? Obviously this is not safe, the
pet can distract the driver, or even interfere with the safe operation
of the vehicle. This puts everyone at risk, so if you are going to
travel with your pet, make sure they don’t contribute to an accident,
and keep them out of the driver’s area!

Do your kids ever fret over the
fact that they “don’t fit in”? We all
feel this way at some point in our
lives. Being alone in a room full of
people is a scary thing. We all want
to belong; to fit in. It’s beyond
instinctive, it gives us the feeling
of safety and security–no matter
what our age. So, when our kids tell us that they don’t fit in, what
they could be saying is, “I’m scared because I don’t feel safe”.
Some kids really have a tough time fitting in for a variety of
reasons. Some kids are socially awkward, and don’t know how
to start a conversation with a peer. If your child struggles with a
physical or learning disability, chances are he/she feels isolated
from the rest of the class anyway. Whatever the reason is, simply
telling them that they really DO fit in, is not as helpful as you’d
expect.
Using God’s Word to Encourage Our Children
Being a Christian parent doesn’t make dealing with these tough
situations easier. But we DO have a resource to back up what we
tell our kids, and that’s God’s Word. When we actively listen to
the pain of our children feeling like they don’t belong or fit in, we
can do more than coach them in social skills (which may be a very
important tool). We can use God’s Word to encourage them even
in these struggles.
Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul
knows it very well.
I’ve found the world’s solutions to the many painful aspects of
not fitting in, being teased, or feeling isolated, are superficial at
best and not helpful at all. I mean, sticks and stones may definitely
break my bones–but words really CAN and DO hurt me!
Instead we must remind our children that God, who created
them and therefore knows every nuance of them, has a specific
plan and purpose for their lives. That HE thinks they are wonderful
and worthy of love AND friendship.

Refusing Bobby Don Bingenheimer, 30, alcohol makes the
Purcell man an angry drunk.
On July 24, a Newcastle police officer was dispatched to a
residence in reference to an assault. En route to the location,
a truck passed by the officer.
According to the affidavit, the officer realized that the vehicle fit the description of the suspect’s truck. He activated
his lights and turned his vehicle around.
The truck accelerated to high speeds and began swerving
wildly.
The officer briefly lost sight of the suspect, but noticed a
red truck driving out of the ditch.
The officer eventually caught up to the truck and ordered
Bingenheimer to exit the vehicle with his hands in the air
and told him to lie flat on his stomach. Bingenheimer refused and said, “Just shoot me.
I don’t f------ care.”
The officer smelled alcohol on Bingenheimer and placed him under arrest.
The red truck that the officer had seen coming out of the ditch drove up and the driver
told police that Bingenheimer had run his truck off of the road.
The officer asked Bingenheimer if he would take a breath test. He replied “f--- you.”
He then began banging his head on the confinement screen in the back of the patrol
car. The officer told him several times to calm down before he finally did.
The officer went to the scene of the assault to speak to the victim and witnesses.
As the officer exited and locked his vehicle, Bingenheimer tried to kick out the driver’s
side rear window of the patrol car. The officer yelled at him to stop, but the drunken man
continued.
The officer opened the door and Bingenheimer kicked him multiple times in the chest.
The officer Tased the belligerent man in an attempt to control him.
The victim and a witness told police that Bingenheimer had been drinking and wanted
more alcohol. When the victim refused to get him more, he became angry and punched
and threw a stereo at her.
When the officer returned to his car, Bingenheimer had kicked out the window and
separated it from the frame.
Bingenheimer was taken to jail and is being charged with a DUI, assault and battery,
reckless driving, endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police and assault and battery on a police officer. He is being held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 28, 2013.

Prosecutors have filed charges
against three people after Tulsa
Police found three children
living in filth last week.
Matthew Prior and Angela
Prior each face one count of
child neglect.
Police went to their home
in the 1200 block of North
76th East Avenue on Tuesday,
August 6, 2013 on a welfare check.
According to a Tulsa Police report, officers found the couple’s three children in a filthy
home, with cockroaches, rotting food and feces on the floor.
Prosecutors also charged the children’s grandmother with child neglect. According to
investigators, Janet Marie Friend, 57, is the primary caregiver of three children -- ages 5,
3 and 2.
The children were removed in February because of the filth but were returned in May.
All three are in the Tulsa County jail with bonds of more than $150,000 each. The
children are in DHS custody.

A former Love County undersheriff has
pled guilty to four counts of embezzlement.
Jason Bone, 37, was originally charged
April 12, 2013, after money was discovered missing from the evidence vault at the
Love County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Bone and other officers with the Love
County Sheriff’s Office seized $73,200
from an I-35 drug bust and the money had
been placed in the safe. Bone was the only
person with the key to the vault.
Bone admitted to removing around $23,000 of the seized funds
for his own use.
Bone was sentenced to a five years on each count to run concurrently and consecutively, all suspended pursuant to the rules and
condition of his probation. He was also ordered to pay fines and
costs, and report to the Dept. of Corrections for two years of supervision under their custody.
