A man was arrested after throwing a brick into the plexiglas window of a jewelry store...the brick bounced back, hit him in the head and knocked him cold
until the police got there.
Police interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and
connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message “He’s lying”
was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they
thought the suspect wasn’t telling the truth. Believing the “lie detector” was
working, the suspect confessed.

Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn’t
control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each man in the lineup
to repeat the words, “Give me all your money or I’ll shoot,” the man shouted,
“That’s not what I said!”

down on the farm
A 41-year-old woman from Katy, Texas, was put behind bars in Garvin County after she allegedly burned
down her mom’s hay barn.
Kelsey Lea Swinford is also a suspect in two other
fires that occurred in Oklahoma County.
According to reports, Swinford was the one who
called police to report the barn fire. When officers arrived, however, they found Swinford ramming the barn
with a truck in an attempt to break holes in the building
to allow oxygen in so the structure would burn faster.
Investigators found that the woman also used fuel
when she set the building on fire.
Arson wasn’t the only thing Swinford was getting arrested for that day,
however – if she was going down, she was going down in flames!
When a deputy tried to arrest the woman, she kicked him in the head twice
and tried to run from the property. She was quickly apprehended and locked
up.
Investigators who surveyed the damage discovered that Swinford managed to do some severe damage – 300 hay bales were destroyed, resulting
in a $100,000 loss of a local farmer who was just renting space in the barn.
The barn, estimated at $70,000, was a total loss in the fire.
Apparently, Swinford had told her mom she wanted the farmer to vacate
the property. She also asked her mom to take out a second mortgage on the
property so she could use the money to buy another piece of property. When
her mom didn’t bow to her wishes, Swinford seemed to think burning down
the barn was the answer.
At the time of the fire, Swinford was out on bond from Oklahoma County.
She had been arrested in an incident related to domestic abuse and assault.
She’s also a suspect in two other fires. One home that was set on fire belonged to Swinford’s ex-girlfriend and the ex’s new partner.
Swinford is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police officer,
second-degree arson and malicious injury to property over $1,000. Her bond
was set at $50,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on March 22,
2019.

Thackerville couple locked up
for child abuse
Chester Dale Voyles, 47, and his wife, 31-yearold Cynthia Maria Voyles are in jail after their five
children were placed into protective custody.
The Thackerville couple is facing charges related to child abuse of their kids, aged 4 to 13.
Reports state that one of the children spoke to
a teacher at Thackerville Schools on February 22.
What the child said alarmed the teacher, who contacted authorities immediately.
Thackerville police went to the school and
the five children were removed from school and
placed into protecting custody. Officers then
secured a search warrant to search the Voyles’
home. At the house, they found evidence that
supported the children’s accounts of abuse at the
hands of their parents.
On February 24, officers were informed that the
couple was in the Ardmore area. Police quickly
found the couple and placed them under arrest.
Prior to being arrested, Cynthia Voyles called a
local news station and left a message stating that
she didn’t know why her kids were removed from
the home. She said police called her husband
a predator, but he wasn’t one. She said he was
disabled and had never been charged as a child
predator.
Cynthia Voyles is being charged with cause/
procure/permit injury or sex abuse to a child.
Chester Voyles is being charged with rape by instrumentation, lewd molestation and sodomy – victim under 16 years.
The couple is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on March 27, 2019.

16 | APRIL 2019 MURRAY COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we each can play a part in promoting the social and
emotional well-being of children and families in communities.
Parenting is one of the toughest and most important jobs
in America, and we all have a stake in ensuring that parents
have access to the resources and support they need to be successful. Entire communities play a role in helping families find
the strength they need to raise safe, healthy, and productive
children.
Here are some things you can do:
Get to know your neighbors. Problems seem less overwhelming when support is nearby.
Help a family under stress. Offer to babysit, help with chores and errands, or suggest
resources in the community that can help.
Reach out to children in your community. A smile or a word of encouragement can mean
a lot, whether it comes from a parent or a passing stranger.
Be an active community member. Lend a hand at local schools, community or faithbased organizations, children’s hospitals, social service agencies, or other places where
families and children are supported.
Keep your neighborhood safe. Start a Neighborhood Watch or plan a local “National
Night Out” community event. You will get to know your neighbors while helping to keep your
neighborhood and children safe.
Learn how to recognize and report signs of child abuse and neglect. Reporting your
concerns may protect a child and get help for a family who needs it.

stung by the sting
Five people were arrested in Sulphur after authorities allegedly purchased some meth from the suspects on March 5.
According to reports, the arrests stemmed from a
sting operation conducted by Murray County deputies. They arranged to purchase some methamphetamines in a controlled buy.
During the purchase of the drug, they arrested
Brittany Jantz, Russell Brock Pena, and Roy Butler. After the arrests, officers obtained a search warrant and searched Butler’s apartment. At the man’s
home, they found several bags containing meth that
appeared to be packaged for sale, digital scales,
needles and drug paraphernalia. Deputies confiscated approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine during the search.
Butler’s girlfriend, Jackie Nicole Weaver, was at
the apartment, and she was also arrested.
Paul Owens was taken into custody a couple of
hours later. Reports state that authorities had been
advised that the man was bringing in large amounts
of meth and selling it in Sulphur. They confiscated 21
grams of meth from him.
Owens is being charged with possession of CDS
(marijuana) without valid prescription, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of CDS
(oxycodone) without valid prescription, possession
of CDS (meth), trafficking meth, and two counts of
distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.
Butler, Pena, and Jantz are being charged with
distribution of a controlled dangerous substance
and conspiracy to deliver a controlled dangerous
substance.
Jackie Weaver is being
charged with possession of
controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, March 10, the Purcell Police Department received information via social media of a threat to perform an act of
violence at the Purcell High School on Monday, March 11. The threat itself
was not made on social media. After a thorough investigation it was determined that there was no creditable threat to any of the Purcell Schools.
Out of an abundance of caution, all Purcell Schools cancelled classes
that Monday.
Two juveniles are now in custody for making threats to commit acts of
violence at the Purcell High School. Per investigators, the juveniles did
make verbal threats at school. These threats were heard by other students
who then began posting warnings on social media. The Purcell Police Department was notified of the threats on Sunday evening.

Oklahoma senator proposes bill to allow counties to decide on medical marijuana legalization
OKLAHOMA CITY – Six months after Oklahoma voters approved a measure
legalizing medical marijuana, an Oklahoma lawmaker has filed a bill that would
allow counties to decide whether or not the measure applies to their area.
In June, over 891,000 voters cast their ballots in regards to State Question
788, which legalizes medical marijuana in Oklahoma. Ultimately, the measure
passed by a majority vote.
Under State Question 788, a person 18 years or older would need to apply
for a medical marijuana license with the Oklahoma State Department of Health
after receiving a note from their doctor. If approved, the patient would then
have to pay $100 to obtain that license.
Since applications became available in August, officials say more than 30,000
patient applications have been approved by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana
Authority.
Now, an Oklahoma lawmaker has proposed a bill that would allow counties
to decide whether they want to follow State Question 788.
Senate Bill 325, which was authored by Sen. Casey Murdock, would add
restrictions to where medical marijuana can be consumed, sold or possessed.
“A county may, by vote of a majority of the registered voters in the county,
restrict or prohibit the possession, consumption, transport, sale, cultivation or
manufacture of marijuana or marijuana products, or any combination thereof,”
the bill states.
Murdock told KJRH that his measure would give counties flexibility.
“The locals, whether it’s the municipalities or whether it is the local law enforcement, they’re the ones that are going to have to deal with this new law,”
Sen. Casey Murdock (R-District 27) said.

Sean R. The people voted for it. It shouldn’t be changed by politicians and
their “interests”
Mike B: I agree. Sounds like he’s wanting to shut down growers and everyone would have to buy from him
Bobbi H: Unconstitutional bill.... the ppl have spoken
John J: Ok if they wanna do that they shouldn’t be allowed to have any
access to the sales tax from it either. So all state taxes should be funded accordingly. Let’s see if they like losing that.
Sandy S: I agree! It has already produced a major windfall in OK. Just in the
licensing. I haven’t heard how much it has made in the pharmacies yet but I’m
sure it is a lot.
Donnie C: don’t have a problem with that. It’s worked with liquor in the past.
John J: liquor is not a prescription drug. Now since the law has passed
that would be just like outlawing Xanax, antidepressants and hormone pills
because these are all mood-altering or possibly mind-altering drugs. just like
marijuana like it or not these are all prescribed medical drugs
Austin H: Less government is the best option. Vote him out
Richard F: It is medical. You cannot compare it to liquor and wet or dry
counties. Medications are regulated for all people
Nancy M: Can we VOTE out this fool?
Tania J: Wasting tax payer money to try n oppress voters n votes IMO. It
was voted on n passed into state law by the voices of voters. Now, let’s find a
way to write a bill n make the voters votes be negated. Go figure
Cyndi J: It’s already been decided - this is crazy
Matthew M: I hope this guy loses his job next election
Stephen S: This jackass needs to be put out to Pasture. We the people
of Oklahoma passed this law and the law makers need to stay out of it. The
people of Oklahoma are tired of having to sue their representatives o er a law
we passed.
Donnie C: what representatives have you sued and when ?
Stephen S: I haven’t sued any and nobody else’s have sued a representative. The people of Oklahoma have had to file lawsuits over the lawmakers
trying to add they’re 2 cents in on the law or not implementing it properly. Actually the people of Oklahoma have had to basically sue their selves. No lawsuits
have had to go to court because the lawmakers recanted on their decisions.
Maybe that’s a little clearer. Sorry for the confusion.
Victor D: Vote him out of office we shouldn’t tolerate these kind of representatives!!!
Nick J: The people have spoken, these clowns need to get over it already.
Michael M: Sounds like the People spoke and this man thinks he and his
ideas should trump the peoples Vote. This is starting to become a trend. This
politician is a joke
Winnie B: Notice they don’t give a choice to opt out of ANY laws we don’t
want to follow. It’s just an end run around the law. Here is the next run at circumventing the will of the voters. Still not ready for an SQ that allows immediate recall and kicked to the unemployment curb? http://www.soonerpolitics.
org/.../the-first-wave-of...
Chris H: If we as a state chose to go recreational I believe there should be
a choice just like a dry county but the medical part should not be bothered or
meet the same standards.
Tyler B: This is bullshit and this guy needs a high five. I’m the face. With a
stapler
Heather M: What a joke!
