DOUBLE DARE
A 19-year-old Pauls Valley got what he wished
for when his friends dared him to get police officers to pursue him December 31.
Unfortunately, he probably wasn’t betting on
ringing in the new year behind bars.
According to reports, a Pauls Valley officer was conducting a traffic stop at the
Grant and Chickasaw intersection when he heard an engine rev up. He then saw
a truck speed away from the area.
Just a few minutes later, that same truck drove slowly past the officer in a
parking lot near I-35. This wouldn’t be the last time the officer saw the truck.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the officer was traveling eastbound on Grant
when the truck passed by him at an extremely high rate of speed. The truck’s
headlights were also turned off.
The officer watched as the truck sped past, nearly hitting the back of a small
car. The driver then turned onto local streets and sped out of town headed toward Longmire Lake.
The officer saw the truck drive through a field planted with crops.
A while later, the same truck approached another officer and stopped. The
driver identified himself as Dalton Brown. Brown told the officer that his friends
had dared him to get police officers to pursue his truck.
Well, now he’s facing four charges.
Brown is being charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to
elude a police officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony,
injury to standing crop, and possession of alcohol by a person under 21. His
bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February
16, 2024.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

6 | FEBRUARY 2024 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty LOVE COUNTY
TO CALIFORNIA
AND BACK
A Duncan man is facing murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed his estranged girlfriend and then
fled to California.
Michael Gonzalez, 38, of Duncan, was charged December 16 with murder in the first degree- deliberate intent, possession of stolen vehicle, and pattern of criminal offenses, in Love County District Court. No charges
have been filed in Stephens County as of press time.
According to Love County Sheriff Andy Cumberledge, on December 15, investigators
with the Love County Sheriff’s Office, along with Investigators from the Stephens County
Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS CID, and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, recovered
the body of Stephanie Loftin, who had been killed and buried in a clandestine grave in the
western portion of Love County early in December of last year.
This recovery stems from an extensive investigation among the listed agencies after
Lofton was reported missing in Lamar County, Texas, on December 6, 2023.
A rental vehicle registered to Lofton was located in Stephens County, abandoned on
December 14. Through extensive investigation, Stephens and Love County deputies
were able to connect Lofton and the abandoned vehicle to a suspect, Gonzalez.
Over the past couple of weeks, investigators with both agencies pieced the case together with very little information to go on. Through the course of the investigation, it was
discovered that the victim had been shot and killed by her estranged boyfriend in the
southern portion of Love County and buried in western Love County on the night of December 3, and into the morning of December 4. Gonzalez then fled the state to California
in an attempt to evade capture.
An arrest warrant was issued Gonzalez and he was arrested by the LAPD and extradited back to Oklahoma to face charges in Love County.
“As I have said many times in the past,” said Sheriff Cumberledge, “these types of investigations could not be successful without great partnerships and collaboration among
multiple agencies.”
“I would like to commend Lt. Tim Vann with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office,”
Cumberledge added. “ Without his diligence in following up on this case, and continuing
the investigation past locating the abandoned vehicle, this case never would have been
solved, the victim would never have been located, and the victim’s family would never
have gotten any justice.”
Cumberledge continued by saying, “I would also like to commend Investigator’s Brad
Clark, Nigel Sewell, and Undersheriff Trent Daniel with our office for the extensive amount
of hours and investigative work they put in to helping solve this case. We truly have some
of the best Deputies working for our office and I’m so proud of the hard work and dedication they have for this community! Thankfully we are able to provide some sort of closure
for the victims family.”
“This is still an ongoing murder case with charges pending so the information being
provided is to maintain transparency from our office with the community and not all facts
and circumstances are listed in this briefing. We will be working with prosecutors to make
sure that this suspect is never able to victimize another person the rest of his miserable
life.”
“This is a prime example that while you may not always see the work that our office
is doing, we are out there 24/7/365 days a year, braving the weather and chasing down
criminals to provide justice for all of those in our community that have been wronged.”
Great work to all of the agencies involved in this case.
Bail was denied for Gonzalez and remains in the Love County jail.

A simple car accident led to the arrest of an
Ardmore woman after she attacked officers and
damaged a police vehicle in last month.
According to reports, Ardmore police officers
were called to the scene of a car accident. Kendra
Michelle Massey, 31, had rear ended a vehicle. The people in the vehicle called
officers to the scene because they said her behavior was “shocking.”
When an officer arrived at the location, he asked the other vehicle to pull into
a nearby parking lot. For some reason, Massey began screaming.
Officer body cameras caught the woman attacking three officers, who had
just pulled up to the scene. The cam caught her hitting one officer in the chest
and knocked off his body camera. She also hit the K9 release button. An officer
pulled the dog back during the fiasco.
Another officer and a woman at the scene tried to comfort Massey’s daughter,
who was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Massey continued to be combative, even when officers placed her under arrest.
Reports state that officers also found some items in Massey’s vehicle that
could add on a public intoxication charge.
Massey is being charged with three counts of assault and battery on a police
officer and loiter in/injure/molest a motor vehicle/joy ride. Her bond was set at
$10,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on February 22, 2024.

Colorado burglar busted after using Uber as getaway car for $8K plumbing tool heist
A Colorado crook carrying thousands of dollars
of stolen merchandise walked right into the police’s hands after he was caught trying to use an Uber as a getaway car, cops
said.
The bungling burglar was ransacking a plumbing store in the Denver suburbs
last week when he called the rideshare driver to pick him up.
The store owner had called 911 after noticing a hole cut in the business’ fencing and caught surveillance footage of the thief inside.
When the local Wheat Ridge police arrived on the scene, they discovered the
Uber driver waiting nearby.
He told cops his passenger “Jose” was headed right toward the car.“Are you
looking for an Uber?” an officer can be heard asking the suspect in bodycam
footage shared by the department.
The man — wearing the hood of his black sweatshirt up and a pulled-down
balaclava — shoots his gaze sideways and hides his hands inside his pockets.“Uh — no,” he stammers. He then gives the officers the fake name “Raul” as
he takes several steps backward and away from the cops.
He was immediately grabbed by officers, but assures them he is not trying to
make a break for it.Jose doubles down on his innocence and claims he is simply
on his way to his mother’s house.
When told he matches the description of the thief, he maintains he is not the
man they are looking for, despite not carrying identification to prove he is “Raul.”
The contents of his backpack, however, exposed the thin charade.“This backpack is full of Milwaukee tools,” one officer can be heard saying while rifling
through the loot.
Inside, cops found more than $8,600 worth of electric tools.
He was taken into custody, where fingerprint scanners confirmed his real identity.“It may not be the best idea to have an Uber pick you up AT the crime scene,”
Wheat Ridge Police said on social media.
A 26-year-old man by the name of Jose was booked the following day on a
plethora of charges, including theft of more than $2,000, criminal trespassing
and false reporting to authorities, court records show.

SMILE, YOU'RE ON
CAMERA
