A Wynnewood man was arrested for allegedly
hitting his grandmother and stealing her vehicle on
February 5.
According to the affidavit, a Garvin County deputy was dispatched to the victim’s residence in the
33000 block of ECR 1650 at approximately 4:50
p.m. to investigate the assault. The victim told the
deputy her grandson, 20-year-old Mark Edward
Amos, got mad because her microwave wasn’t
working, so he hit her on the head and threatened
her with a kitchen knife. She said he also threatened
to burn down her and her neighbor’s homes if they
contacted the police.
The victim said her grandson had been living on and off at her residence
for several months. She told the deputy the man had also taken her vehicle
without her permission.
The deputy was dispatched back to the residence shortly after 7 p.m.
because Amos had returned. The deputy spoke to the man and asked him
where the victim’s vehicle was. Amos advised he had wrecked the vehicle
and parked it approximately 100 yards west up the road from the house.
The deputy placed the man under arrest.
Amos agreed to speak to him about the incident. When the deputy asked
the man why he hit his grandmother and took her vehicle, Amos said he
was mad about the microwave, but he denied hitting the woman. He said
he also grabbed the knife because he was mad.
When the deputy asked him about the vehicle, Amos said he just wanted
to get away, and he had run into someone’s fence with the car. He also
admitted to taking meth the day before.
Amos is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. His bond
was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 10,
2017.

people not stopping as required. State Statute tells us
we shall STOP as required
and after having STOPPED,
yield the right-of-way to any
vehicle which has entered the
intersection before we proceed.
Title 47-11-403B:
“Except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic control signal,
every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop intersection indicated by a stop
sign shall stop as required by subsection (d) of Section 11-703 of this title
and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle which has
entered the intersection from another highway or which is approaching so
closely on said highway as to constitute an immediate hazard, but said driver
having so yielded may proceed and the drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle so proceeding.”

Charges were filed February 1 against a Texas
man after he allegedly touched a woman inappropriately.
Bhavesh Desai, 25, of Lindsay, Texas, was
charged with sexual battery in Love County District Court.
According to court records, on January 27,
Desai allegedly touched the 32-year-old woman
“in a lewd and lascivious manner and without her
consent.”
Desai was arrested and taken to the Love
County Jail where he was booked. Bond was set
at $10,000. His status hearing is set for March 20 at 9am.
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in jail.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

promoting meaningful student involvement, education

SAVE’s Vision: Schools and communities will be safer and more secure,
free of fear and conducive to learning as a result of students being actively involved in meaningful violence prevention efforts.
How It Got Started: SAVE was started by students in Charlotte, North
Carolina in 1989 after the tragic death of a classmate who was trying to
break up a fight at an off-campus party. A group of students who did not
want this death to be “just another statistic” took action and created a
violence prevention program.
Chapters: SAVE has evolved into a national association with chapters in elementary, middle and high schools as well as at colleges and
community organizations across the country. Today, there are more than
200,000 students involved nationwide.
Activities: Student members take the lead in planning chapter activities
by using the three SAVE Essential Elements: conducting crime prevention
activities, conducting conflict management activities and providing meaningful service through projects in schools and communities. SAVE chapters also plan safety rallies and safety awareness campaigns, engage in
peer mentoring to younger students, and conduct fun and educational
meetings.

IN HOUSE BURGLARY
Kingston man Gary Michael Allen McNeill,
24, and his 36-year-old accomplice from
Kingston, Eric Wayne Page, are wanted for allegedly stealing a woman’s guitar out of her
garage on January 27.
According to the police report, a Marshall
County deputy was dispatched to the victim’s
residence in the 4100 block of Tracie Del Lane
shortly after 5 p.m. to investigate the theft.
Two of the woman’s neighbors were also on
scene; they claimed to have seen the burglary and knew who the culprits were.
The victim’s neighbors told the deputy they
saw McNeill knock on the front door of the
woman’s home around 12:30 p.m. When no
one answered, McNeill returned to a truck
parked in the driveway and spoke to another
man who was sitting in the driver’s seat.
One of the neighbors identified the other
man as Page. He said Page exited the vehicle
and walked to the woman’s garage. A few
moments later, he emerged from the building
holding the victim’s guitar.
The man paused briefly at the corner of the
house before getting into his truck to make
sure no one saw him with the instrument. The
men then jumped in the vehicle and left the residence.
The deputy found shoe prints possibly belonging to the men in front of
the garage and in front of the house.
There was no forced entry into the garage, because the door to the building wasn’t able to lock.
Both McNeill and Page are being charged with burglary in the second
degree. A warrant was issued for their arrest on February 6, 2017.

Oklahoma City man Joe Lurie Garrett Jr., 35,
tried to tell an officer he found some meth on the
ground while he was being arrested for a warrant
on February 7.
Unfortunately for Garrett, security footage
showed differently.
According to the affidavit, a Chickasaw Nation
Lighthorse officer made contact with Garrett at the
Newcastle Casino. While speaking with the man,
he checked his information. Dispatch advised the
man had a valid warrant for his arrest out of Kiowa
County.
The officer escorted the man outside and informed him he was under arrest for the warrant. Garrett asked the officer if
his girlfriend was still standing inside the doors. He said he needed to get
some phone numbers out of his phone that she was holding for him.
The officer turned around with his back toward Garrett so he could speak
to the woman. When he turned back around, he saw the man bent over
picking up a small plastic bag off the ground. Garrett held it in his right hand
with a clenched fist.
The officer told the man to place hands behind his back. As the officer
placed the man in handcuffs, he told him to open his hands. Garrett complied, and the officer saw the plastic baggy he had seen the man pick up
off the ground. The baggy contained a small amount of a crystal substance,
which tested positive for meth.
Garrett told the officer the baggy wasn’t his. He said he saw it lying on the
ground, so he just picked it up so he could give it to the officer.
He was lying -- surveillance footage showed the man reach into the waistband of his pants when the officer turned around. He then dropped something, then bent down to pick it up.
Garrett is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance. His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on March 15, 2017.

We here at Jailbirds realize the importance of child support to working families. We also realize it’s a real problem
in Oklahoma that custodial parents aren’t getting the money owed to them. Too many deadbeat parents are getting
away with not supporting their children and our “powers
that be” continue to turn a blind eye to it. So, Jailbirds taking a different approach in helping find deadbeat parents. In
the past, we’ve relied on the DHS website to get info, but
it is pretty lame, as you may have noticed. If you are owed
money from a non-custodial parent, it was court-ordered,
they haven’t paid, and they have a warrant for their arrest, please email news@okjailbirds.
com with the name of the parent in arrears, how much they owe, and what county the
money is owed through. We will try our hardest to confirm the warrant and feature them on
our expanded Deadbeat Parents page. The key here is that they MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE
WARRANT so we can confirm the charge. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE PERSON’S NAME

Nicole R: Moms who can’t or won’t financially support her children get reduced
housing, food stamps, insurance , educational grants, TANF etc.... dads who can’t or
won’t financially support his children get jail, liens on property, tax returns intercepted,
licenses and permits suspended , and a nice picture on jailbirds. Biased much?
Jailbirds: No, we are not biased. We don’t make the rules. But we do know the
rules and laws need to be changed. It’s not working now. Wouldn’t you agree? If you don’t
like the way things are done now, pick up your phone and call your representative. Put
pressure on them. We are.
David S: You are absolutely correct. Sure glad I’m not the only one who sees that.
My ex owes over 50K to her first kids father. She receives food stamps, insurance, etc. Yet,
if I get one month behind they threaten me with suspension on my DL. Oh did I mention
we have 50/50 custody and my child is with me half the time!!! Oh I can tell so much more
about how the child support system sucks. BTW in Oklahoma the child support is handled
by a third party who claims to be with the state. Such a crock.
Nicole R: it’s most definitely not working. 50/50 custody when possible , between 2
fit parents, could alleviate financial burdens on both sides. Jailbirds, done, done and done!
The Father’s Rights Movement page is a great support page for fathers dealing with these
issues.
Jailbirds : *smh* This is NOT about us or even you! It’s about your children! Who
ever said life was fair? Do what’s right and don’t let your kids go without basic things, even
if the other parent is not doing their part. Children need to grow up in a relatively healthy
environment. They need BOTH parents’ support, but can still thrive with only one! I grew
up with an alcoholic father who never paid my mom one dime of child support!! Each one
of us five kids grew up to go to vo-tech or college because we had at least one parent who
thought of us instead of herself. She paid a heavy price for us, and if my dad hadn’t been
a deadbeat, we would have had a much easier time putting food on the table. Growing up
on Rice-a-roni is crap. So don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about because I’m a
“victim” of our system too. Only thing is, I chose NOT TO BE A VICTIM!

I’m glad to hear you and your siblings grew up right. Gives me inspiration while I’m raising
my kids.
Jason P: I am from Arkansas and have wilfully paid my child support for 17 years
without missing a single payment. 3 years ago I remarried and my wife is from Oklahoma
she brought her 2 young daughters and I was appalled that the State of Oklahoma Child
Support Services were so out of touch enforcing noncustodial to pay their support. The
individual that owes his children is over $5k in arrears and has never made an effort in
the 3 years to wilfully pay. They seem to allow the deadbeats to slip through the system
unscathed. I and their mother support the children 100%. It doesn’t seem right that a
deadbeat of this magnitude should be allowed to keep getting away with it but I’m convinced that Oklahomas Child Support Services are,lacking a backbone or they are to lazy
to enforce the court orders. This guy has been threatened to loose his license have his
bank account froze and so forth but OCSE let’s him pay a one time payment of $50 and

All I can say to Oklahoma OSCE is your lucky that the custodial parent and step parent
pick up your slack.

Keith G: Child support is a joke in Oklahoma. The ones who need the child support
can’t get it and the people who completely ruin there ex’s life over it don’t need as much
as they claim they need because that person makes good money. To base child support
off of ones income is complete bullshit.
David S: That’s absolutely correct. Based on your income is BS. I have 50/50 custody. My child is with me at least 50 percent of the time. Yet I still have to pay child support? That’s BS. I also provide transportation to his school which is about 30 miles away
from my home. Such BS.
