Garvin County Woman was sentenced to serve
15 years in federal prison for sexually assaulting
a child.
Amanda Stowers, 40, of Garvin County, has
been sentenced to serve 180 months in federal
prison for sexually abusing a minor, announced
U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
On May 4, 2021, a federal Grand Jury returned
a three-count Indictment against Stowers, charging her with three counts of
sexual abuse of a minor.
According to public record, in April of 2020, officers with the Stratford Police
Department began investigating a possible sexual assault involving a minor victim. The investigation, conducted by the FBI and Stratford Police Department,
determined that Stowers had sexually assaulted the victim between April 20,
2017, and April 19, 2020.
This case is in federal court because the victim is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and the crimes took place within the boundaries of the Chickasaw
Nation.
On September 10, 2024, Stowers pleaded guilty, and admitted she sexually
assaulted the minor victim between the dates referenced.
At the sentencing hearing on April 15, 2025, U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman sentenced Stowers to serve 180 months in federal prison, followed by five
years of supervised release. In announcing the sentence, Judge Dishman noted
that the lengthy term of incarceration was warranted due to the serious nature
of the offense.

SOUTHERN
SHENANIGANS
In New York, you get arrested for defending people on the subway…but in Brevard County, Florida,
you get locked up behind bars for attacking people
in a Subway!!
Clearly this guy, Edward Cocaine, (and yes that’s
his real name) doesn’t know that in Brevard County, if you Mess Around you’re gonna Find Out…the
hard way!! Over the weekend, Cocaine and a friend went to the local Subway for
lunch and were trying to place an order, but ultimately got into an argument with
the employees over what they believed was their bad attitudes. If I was betting,
I would guess they didn’t like the fact that the footlong wasn’t $5 anymore, but
hey, who knows, so let’s get back to the incident!!
Cocaine became so irate with the employees that yelling at them from across
the counter wasn’t enough!! Unable to control his whittle emotions, he decided
to let himself behind the counter where he began to physically push one of them,
and then made an even dumber decision by pulling out a knife!! Yes folks, you
read that correctly, he pulled out a knife and gestured as if he was going to injure
them all because he didn’t like the way they spoke to him and his friend!!
Now on a positive note, Cocaine’s friend made the great decision to try and
intervene by attempting to restrain him and convince him to leave the establishment before anyone got hurt!!
Of course, after some great investigative work by Deputies and Agents, they
were able to identify Cocaine and his friend so that they could interview them
about the situation. According to Cocaine, that was him in the surveillance video
and while his memory of the incident appeared to be a bit off from what Agents
reviewed, he did acknowledge that pulling out a knife crossed the line of what
is appropriate behavior!! I’d say that completely crossed the line and did dumb
stuff that put others lives at risk!!
Well, as you might imagine, Cocaine was arrested for Aggravated Assault (x2),
Burglary with Assault or Battery, and Battery, which as everyone knows, he ain’t
gonna like the service or the attitude of those who work there!! He can, however, get food in a 1-star dining facility that is freshly prepared each day in the jail
kitchen by inmates…sounds just yummy!!

THOSE PESKY TREES
A motorcycle pursuit ended with the felony arrest of a
man who tried to hide from authorities in a wooded area
of rural Love County.
Jesse Wayne Peery, 31, of Marietta, was charged
April 22 with DUS, eluding/attempting to elude a police officer, possession of CDS- meth, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm
AFFC, in Love County District Court.
According to a press release, early on April 19, just
before 1 a.m., the Love County dispatch received a call
informing them of a motorcyclist driving up and down a road and parking in front of several homes. Deputies were dispatched to locate the motorcyclist.
When deputies arrived in the area, they located the motorcyclist, later identified as
Arnold. A short pursuit ensued before the motorcyclist was unable to maintain control
and wrecked into a tree. Arnold then fled on foot into a heavily wooded area. Due to the
heavy vegetation and the darkness, deputies were unable to locate Arnold, so a perimeter was established and a drone operator was called to the area. The agency’s drone was
equipped with thermal cameras.
A short time after his arrival, the drone pilot notified deputies he believed he found the
suspect hiding in a wooded area south of where he wrecked out. The drone pilot then
guided deputies on foot to the area where deputies located the suspect. Deputies called
Arnold out of the wooded area and placed him under arrest.
During the course of the manhunt, deputies located a barn where Arnold had been
staying. Inside the barn, a loaded shotgun, meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia
were located.
Arnold was determined to be a convicted felon and out of prison on parole.
According to Sheriff Andy R. Cumberledge, new charges will be presented to the prosecutors office and a request for revocation of parole will be sought.

THAT'S METHED UP!
Two men were arrested following a meth drug bust
with a street worth of approximately $180,000.
According to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO),
Texas, on March 20, 2025, BCSO Organized Crime
deputies conducted a traffic stop near Loop 410 South
in San Antonio, as part of an ongoing investigation.
During the stop, 34-year-old Robert Gomez III was found in possession of four gallon-sized bags of crystal methamphetamine, a separate bag containing a brown tar-like
substance suspected to be heroin, and a .38 caliber pistol. He was taken into custody
without incident.
Meanwhile, 42-year-old Juan Bustamante, who had been seen leaving a residence
with a bag before meeting Gomez, attempted to flee when deputies moved in. He was
apprehended with assistance from the K9 unit after discarding a bag that contained eight
additional gallon-sized bags of crystal meth.
Further searches of Gomez’s residence and business uncovered a money counter and
packaging materials, pointing to a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Both suspects, identified as documented gang members, were booked into the Bexar
County Jail and face multiple drug-related charges.
Robert Gomez III was booked on two counts of
manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance
over 400 grams, a first-degree felony, as well as unlawful carrying of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor.
Juan Bustamante was booked on a first-degree
felony charge for manufacturing and delivering a
controlled substance over 400 grams.
In total, deputies seized approximately 7 kilograms of crystal
meth and 1 kilogram of heroin, removing
these dangerous drugs from
the community.
The estimated street value
of the seized
narcotics is

DASTARDLY DUO
Two Springer men will be spending the next four
years behind bars on federal firearms charges.
Cord Sikes Hutchins, 43, and David Colbert
Johnston, 65, were sentenced in federal district
court last month.
Hutchins was sentenced to 46 months in prison
for one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm
and Ammunition. Hutchins pleaded guilty to the
charges on April 24, 2024.
Johnston was sentenced to 24 months in prison for one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm. Johnston was found guilty by a federal jury
at trial on May 7, 2024.
The charges arose from an investigation by the
U.S. Marshals Service Violent Crime Task Force
and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms
and Explosives.
According to investigators, on May 11, 2023,
U.S. Marshals apprehended Hutchins at Johnston’s Springer residence on outstanding felony
arrest warrants out of Wichita County, Texas. As
the entry team prepared to breach the house, Johnston confessed that Hutchins
had access to firearms inside the residence. During the arrest, Marshals discovered Hutchins armed with an AR .223 semi-automatic rifle, a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and assorted rounds of ammunition and shotgun shells. After
obtaining a search warrant for the residence, investigators discovered a second
AR .223 and a 12-gauge shotgun in Hutchins’ bedroom closet and a .22 caliber
rifle and ammunition in the living area of the house.
At the time of arrest, both Hutchins and Johnston had previously been convicted of crimes punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
Hutchins and Johnston will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service
pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility
to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

AROUND THE STATE
On April 3, 2025, Agents with the OBN Human
Trafficking Unit arrested Shawn Brownlee, 52, as
part of an ongoing cross-country human trafficking investigation.
“An undercover OBN Agent located an online
commercial sex advertisement for a female which
contained indicators suggesting the female may
be a victim of human trafficking. After making
contact with the female, OBN Agents learned she had met Shawn Brownlee in
California after he responded to one of her commercial sex ads. Brownlee then
transported the victim to Oklahoma in his Semi-trailer with the intent of furthering
and facilitating her commercial sex work.” ---
OBN Spokesman Mark Woodward
OBN Agents located and arrested Brownlee in Oklahoma City on April 3, 2025. He is
currently facing multiple charges, including
Pandering and Maintaining a House of Prostitution. This is an ongoing investigation and
additional charges could be filed in the case.
The female was safely recovered and is receiving victim assistance services.
Citizens and victims can get information or
anonymously report suspected human trafficking by visiting OBN’s ‘You Are Not Alone’

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
A Marshall County woman pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for driving high and then
crashing into another vehicle, which led to the victim’s death.
Ashley Nicole Castleberry-Miller, 30, of Kingston, entered a guilty plea to one count of Involuntary Manslaughter in Indian Country, punishable
by up to 96 months imprisonment.
The Indictment alleged that on April 20, 2024, Castleberry-Miller unlawfully
killed the victim when she failed to devote full time and attention to driving, drove
left of the center line of the roadway while driving without due caution, and operated a motor vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance other
than alcohol.
The crime occurred in Seminole County, within the boundaries of the Seminole
Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the
Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and the Seminole Police Department.
The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after
considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Castleberry-Miller will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals
Service pending sentencing.

A Norman man working as a vendor for the Purcell Public Schools is facing felony charges after
investigators uncovered evidence of child sexual misconduct with a student at Purcell Public
Schools.
Timothy Dewayne Arnold, 41, was charged April
25 with sexual battery and peeping tom w/photographic/electronic equipment, in McClain County
District Court.
Following an intensive investigation, the Purcell Police Department has arrested
Arnold in connection with alleged inappropriate conduct involving a student at
Purcell Public Schools.
In late April, the Purcell Police Department was notified by Purcell Schools of
possible misconduct by an individual from an external organization providing services to the district. The investigation centered on allegations of sexual misconduct and voyeuristic behavior directed toward a student.
Detectives with the Purcell Police Department worked diligently to corroborate
the information provided and submitted the case to the McClain County District
Attorney’s Office for review. As a result, the District Attorney filed charges against
Arnold.
A warrant was issued, and Arnold was taken into custody by the Purcell Police Department, with the assistance of the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and
booked into the McClain County Detention Center.
The Purcell Police Department is asking anyone who believes they may have
had inappropriate contact with Timothy Arnold to come forward. Individuals are
encouraged to contact Detective Brayden Gulliver at brayden.gulliver@purcellok.
