A Ponca City man allegedly stole a bottle of vodka when he
bought some wine from a liquor store on July 7. He thought
he was being clever by shoving the liquor up his shirt, but the
store employee saw it all.
According to the police report, the employee called Ponca
City police at approximately 1:52 p.m. to report the robbery.
When the officer arrived at the store in the 1500 block of
Union Street, the employee told him a man came to the store
around noon and grabbed two bottles of vodka. He put one
under his shirt and walked to another aisle and put the other
bottle down. He then grabbed a bottle of wine and walked to the register. He paid
for the wine and left in a taxi.
The clerk later called the taxi company and spoke to the driver who took the
liquor thief home. The officer was able to identify the suspect as 49-year-old Gary
Roland Baker, based on the employee’s description. When he watched surveillance footage of the incident, his suspicions were confirmed.
The officer went to a residence in the 500 block of S. Sixth, because that’s where
the taxi driver took Baker. The officer also knew Baker drank there daily, because
he had dealt with the man “multiple times” in the past.
Sure enough, the officer found Baker sitting on the front porch with an empty
bottle of wine -- the same kind the suspect purchased in the surveillance video.
When the officer asked Baker about the wine, he became angry and started raising up his hands.
The officer then told the man he was under arrest.
Baker resisted, but officers were eventually able to get the man in handcuffs.
Police found an empty vodka bottle near where the man had been sitting -- the
same kind of vodka stolen from the liquor store.
Baker is being charged with larceny of merchandise from retailer and resisting
an officer. His bond was set at $1,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
August 17, 2015.

Bartlesville woman Jayme Sheree
Reed, 38, threw a beer can at her boyfriend’s truck and hit it with a nailedfilled 2x4 on the afternoon of July 13.
She allegedly did all this while a police
officer was standing there watching her.
According to the police report, a
Bartlesville officer was completing
a standby at a residence in the 1600
block of S.W. Hickory at approximately
1:45 p.m. when Reed attacked her boyfriend and his truck.
The victim was at the residence to get his work truck from
the driveway. The police officer was standing beside his patrol car, which was parked by the curb.
When the victim started the truck, the victim’s live-in girlfriend, identified as Reed, ran outside and threw a beer can
at the vehicle. She missed, but she wasn’t done yet!
The officer yelled at her to stop, but Reed was a woman on
a mission. She grabbed a 2x4 that had nails in it and started
hitting the truck. She “forcibly opened” the driver’s door
and swung her board back as though she was about to hit
her boyfriend. The officer stepped behind the woman and
saved the day! He grabbed her arms before she could hit the
man. He then pried the board from her hands and placed
her under arrest.
Reed is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Her bond was set at $50,000, and she is
scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2015.

Well, it took long enough, and
I’m not complaining about that,
but the heat has finally arrived!
Whether its at the lake, pool, or any of the numerous other
activities to be found throughout this great state, there are plenty of
ways to beat the heat! Since summertime travel is a big part of this
I thought I would touch on the way heat can affect your traveling
plans, and some tips to help you!
First, be prepared. Cars suffer in the heat just like we do. If
and when they break down, you’ll want to be ready. Be familiar
with your emergency equipment in your vehicle. This means learn
where your jack, spare tire, and tire tool are. Learn how to use
them. Figuring that out on the side of the road at 102 degrees is
no fun at all. The owner’s manual of your vehicle has a section
on roadside emergencies that can help you figure out where the
emergency equipment is stored, and tips on how to use it. Learn
the steps to change a flat! Although we will be happy to help you
if you are broken down, we aren’t always close, and may not be
able to get to you for a long period of time. If you know how to get
yourself out of a roadside emergency, that’s less time you’ll spend
in the heat.
Take lots of water with you if you are going on a trip, especially
if it’s a long one. Have a cell phone with you so you can call for
help if you need it. Be aware of your surroundings when driving,
so you can give the person you call for help an accurate location for
where you are. Also, if you can get your car to a place of shade, do
so. Temperatures can be up to 20 degrees cooler in a place of shade
such as an overpass or large trees.
Lastly, make sure your car is maintained properly. Ever notice
how many pieces of tires you see on the roadway during the
summer? The heat is hard on tires, so make sure they are properly
inflated and have good tread. If your tread is worn, get them
replaced! The pavement those tires are rolling on is even hotter
than the thermometer is showing! Visually check your belts, and
make sure all your fluids are filled up. That ounce of prevention
can keep you from being stuck on the side of the road in 100 plus
temperatures.
Preparing for roadside emergencies in the heat is just as important
as it is in the winter, but it seems like we just don’t prepare the
same for it. Just a few minutes of learning how to change a flat,
packing in a case of water, and being aware of your surroundings
can keep a bad day from being a whole lot worse!
Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

FALSE REPORTING OF CRIME
Two Skiatook residents admitted to police that they broke
into Pizza Hut in the early morning hours of July 3.
They weren’t there to get pizza -- they were there to steal
money, toys and to mess things up.
According to the police report, a Skiatook officer was dispatched to the restaurant in the 1300 block of W. Rogers Blvd.
at approximately 1:55 a.m. to investigate the burglary. The
suspects had broken into the restaurant through the drive-thru window, and a vending machine had been vandalized and
its contents thrown all over the place.
Police stopped a vehicle shortly thereafter that was occupied
by four people who matched the description given to police by
a witness.
Ricky Todd Smith, 18, told police that he broke the drivethru window at Pizza Hut, climbed inside and unlocked one of
the doors. He also admitted to breaking the glass on the game
machine and stealing $40 in cash, a football and a toy truck.
Smith told police he went into the cash register and took
change totaling $28.98.
Stealing apparently wasn’t enough for the man. He said he
also grabbed some 2 liter bottles of soda from the cooler and
threw them across the room, getting soda all over the place.
Smith said before he left, he grabbed two six packs and eight
bottles of beer.
20-year-old Jessica Jean Vanderlinden also admitted to
police that she broke into the restaurant through the drivethru window. She told police the exact same story as Smith,
including breaking into the machine, throwing soda all over
the place and stealing beer.
Two juveniles told police they went into the restaurant with Smith and Vanderlinden.
A female juvenile said she didn’t want to go into Pizza Hut, but the group convinced her to
be their “look out.”
Vanderlinden and Smith are both being charged with two counts of burglary in the second
degree, malicious injury to property under $1,000, knowingly concealing stolen property
and contributing to the delinquency of minors. They were both released on $15,000 bonds.
They are both scheduled to appear in court on August 20, 2015.

Two years ago, 77-year-old Charles Nieman and
his wife stopped at the Loaf-‘n-Jug convenience
store in Boise City to get gas. Nieman was outside
his vehicle when a Hispanic male walked up to
him and demanded his wallet. Nieman, who was
hard of hearing, turned to his wife and asked her
what the man said. Moments later, the suspect
shot Nieman in the head. The suspect ran from the
area. Nieman was rushed to a nearby hospital where
doctors pronounced him dead. The Boise City Police
Department requested OSBI assistance with the case.
Numerous leads were run by agents and local law
enforcement, but the suspect has not been identifi ed.
Today, on the second year anniversary of this case,
the OSBI is off ering up to $5,000 for information
that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man
who killed Mr. Nieman. Nieman would have celebrated his 55 wedding anniversary later
this month with his wife Lois. He is also survived by three children and six grandchildren.
If you have any information, please contact the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017

Marshall County, Alabama, Sheriff Scott Walls said a burglary suspect got more than he bargained for when he attempted to flee deputies
across a field belonging to a particularly ornery bull on July 8.
Walls said it started around 8 a.m. at a residence on Baldwin Drive
in Arab, Ala. The owner of a home on that street came home and found
a truck in his yard belonging to two people who were burglarizing his
home. The homeowner immediately called the Sheriff’s Office and
chased the suspects as they ran away.
A short time later, Sheriff Walls said deputies and Arab Police located
the suspect’s vehicle and pursued it to the Union Grove area, where the
truck crashed.
“The driver, Brad Lynn Hemby, 26, of Boaz, fled across a cow pasture
and grabbed the attention of a bull roaming the field. The bull also gave chase along with deputies,” Walls said.
With more on his mind than jail at that moment, Hemby continued to run. Bad turned to worse
for him when he fell into a barbed wire fence. He immediately surrendered to deputies, Walls said.
The female passenger in Hemby’s truck ran into a wooded area not occupied by a bull and has
not been located at this time.
After the arrest, deputies recovered stolen property from Hemby’s truck, Walls said. Hemby is
charged with burglary, theft, and attempting to elude. Deputies continue to search for the passenger.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

What you’re saying
about this on...
Richard F: Should be treated as a sex crime.
Blake A: Ridiculous
Mandy I: Ok first off as a citizen you have the right to refuse and officer to enter
your home until he provides the paper work staying he has that right! So she was not in the
wrong as she closed “HER” door! The officer also did not state what he was arresting her
for? Hmm some bs right there! It isn’t a right to arrest there has to be a reason stating while
in the process of cuffing someone! Talk about literally stepping on her rights just because
he has a badge!!
Jerry P: They can enter for probable cause, but this may not have been
Dalton J: Cause all cops follow the rules?
Cassi G: I wasn’t naked but this reminds me of when I had my second child and
an officer came into my room 3 hours after I had a c-section, yelling at me, and telling me
if I wasn’t laying in a hospital bed, I would be arrested. He kept saying he had court papers
signed by a judge that my first child was to be with his father at that time, when those
papers were never signed. When I asked to see the signed papers, he told me they were evidence and I wasn’t allowed to see them. My heart was pounding on the monitor. The other
officer with him didn’t say anything during the incident, but confronted him when they left
the room. He checked the papers and saw they weren’t signed. Came back the next day to
apologize and told their boss about the incident. I filed a report but nothing ever happened
to the officer. That was a horrible situation! A moment that should have been filled with
joy, completely shattered by nonsense.
Lonny F: Charge him with felony trespass.....( Handcuff and restrained and with
a firearm) no different than someone else that entered and did the same thing....if its true
Bridgett S: I believe they were in the wrong for entering. However if cops show
up and enter my house while I am naked. I believe I would ask them to hold on until i get
clothes on, not, hey wait and let me grab my phone. I would also be nice about it. Lol
Chock D: If an officer enters your place without a warrant or probable cause then
it is consider B&E or forcible entry. Meaning that if you are in fear for your life you can
shot him.
Dan S: She closed the door in his face. Why didn’t she just leave the door open
while she went for her phone ?
Mizzus L: Something like this happened to me in OKC about 8 years ago... Except I wasn’t arrested... I called MULTIPLE attorneys, and they all agreed the Police was
A woman handcuffed while naked by a police officer
who entered her home illegally is planning to file a lawsuit against the city. “I felt helpless. I felt violated. And
honestly, I felt molested,” said Esmeralda Rossi. The incident was captured on cellphone cameras.
Police records said Rossi was trying to agitate the officer
but an investigation found that he did, in fact, enter the
home illegally. What would you do?
KJRH posted this story. We’re curious
as to what our readers would do.
wrong, but because it was the FBI, ATF and OSBI, nobody would touch it with a ten foot
pole...
David M: Everyone is suddenly a lawyer. Your only hearing part of the story and
convicting parties as of yet in heard from. SMH.
Randy F: If he had no business being in the residence, he became a criminal
when he entered. Treat him as such.
Scott T: The officer should be canned AND prosecuted.
Angela C: Ok so if and I’m saying if he had been there and told her you say something, and you will die. I suppose that everyone would have been on here saying the cops
should have came in and looked around.
April C: Just because she answered the door wearing just a towel, which by the
way is a stupid thing to do, doesn’t mean there wasn’t a possible situation inside the home.
She could have very well been going for a gun, or maybe an unseen person was forcing her
to back away from the door. How are the police supposed to know? If they got a domestic
call then it could have been anything. Moral of this story is, don’t answer your door naked,
dumba**!
Mike G: Moral of the story all that b.s u mentioned above doesn’t count . if she
didn’t invite him in & he didn’t have a search warrant . THEN HE ENTERED HER HOUSE
ILLEGALLY !!! stop making excuses !! We have rights JUST because of sh** like this !!
Mark D: sure its not her first video or lawsuit
Tammy R: Good thing all the people on Facebook were there to know ALL the
facts!
James H: The best thing to do in this case is to very nicely ask this lady how
much they owe her and pay her. Of course this should be done after the termination of the
officer from the city.
Jeff D: that is rediculous he should be fired for sure
Adrian P: Wow, reading some of the comments here, there are some people who
really have issues. The cop should be charged and do jail time, but this is a state who dosent
recognize Martin Luther King day do it dosent suprise me.
John J: fire him
Troy R: Lock him in gen-pop of a prison for a week. Let him find out how much
a bad a** he is there.
Lanette K: Retires to secure his pension! I hope she gets most of it in the law
suit. This was just wrong on so many levels!
Michelle K: How humiliating!
Skylar L: They never report the whole story. They never show the whole video.
Funny how that is huh ?? Looking to get rich quick.
Blackie P: If there wasn’t any reason to be there, then I say, sue them!
Jillian H: That is absolute bs. I hope she wins and wins big and will hopefully be
able to recover along with her daughter.

A Glenpool woman pled guilty to charges
of resisting an officer, trespassing after being forbidden and public intoxication after
she was arrested July 7 because she couldn’t
seem to leave two men alone.
Shortly after 10 p.m., a Pawnee County
deputy was dispatched to a local RV park because a woman was refusing to leave a man’s
residence. When officers arrived at the
man’s residence, he told them 31-year-old
Tonya Sue Howell had been at his neighbor’s
house, and his neighbor told the woman to
leave.
The man felt sorry for Howell because she was standing outside
in the rain, so he invited her inside his home. Everything was fine at
first, but then Howell just went crazy.
The man said she started yelling at him and was acting “out of control,” according to the affidavit. She also poked the man in the chest,
where his defibrillator was located. He called his neighbor, but the
neighbor told him the crazy woman wasn’t allowed back in his house.
The man said he didn’t want to press charges; he just wanted her
to leave him alone.
An officer noticed that Howell smelled like alcohol, and her eyes
were watery. She told the officer she had consumed 7 beers, but she
didn’t hurt the reporting party.
The officer told her to leave and to not come back, so she walked to
a nearby bar.
A short while later, officers saw the woman walk back up to the
residence and try to open the door. When police confronted her, she
refused to leave. The officer told her she was under arrest. She refused to drop a lunchbox she was holding in her left hand, and she
resisted being arrested.
Three officers later, and the woman was in handcuffs.
She was released on a $500 bond and plead guilty to the charges with resisting an officer, trespassing after being forbidden and
public intoxication.
