A Ponca City woman was arrested after her boyfriend told
police that she stabbed him with a knife; she, however, told
police that it was all an accident.
On Dec. 12, a Ponca City police officer was dispatched to a
residence in the 300 block of Elm Street to speak to a woman
who was having trouble with her ex. When the officer arrived,
the woman, identified as Jennifer Nicole Waldman, 28, told
her that she and her ex had been arguing and he left the residence.
While they were speaking, Waldman’s ex walked up to the
women holding a cut on his arm. He also had a large hunting
knife sticking out of his pocket.
The victim told police that he and Waldman had been living together for about a month but had been arguing all day. He decided to pack up his
stuff and move out.
The victim said that he went to Waldman’s bedroom to get his stuff but was unaware
that she had used a knife as a makeshift lock on the door. He forced the door open and
the knife fell out and hit the floor.
He said that she went crazy, grabbed the knife and lunged at him. She allegedly tried
to stab him in the stomach and cut his forearm. He ran out of the room, and she allegedly followed him and threw the knife at him.
Waldman said none of that happened. She told police that she sent a text to his sister
and he became angry and tried to grab her phone, breaking the screen. She said he went
to her room and kicked open the door. The knife fell down and she picked it up.
She said her daughter was asleep in the next room, so she tried to get him out of the
house. A scuffle ensued and somehow his arm was cut.
Although it was unclear who was telling the truth, the victim had definitely been cut
with the knife. Waldman was arrested and transported to jail.
Waldman is being charged with domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. She was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 9,
2014.

A crazy drivin’ Enid man was arrested on Dec. 12,
when police found illegal items in his vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a Tonkawa officer was
on patrol when he was informed that there was a
white car driving recklessly on Highway 60. As
the officer shifted his patrol car into drive, a truck
pulled up beside him and told him that the reckless
driver had just passed by.
The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle and
observed as it entered the median with both driver
side tires, corrected, then drifted over into the slow
lane before veering back into the fast lane.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
He could see two adult males sitting in the vehicle;
the driver reached into the center console as the officer walked up to the car.
The driver was identified as 37-year-old James Scott Underwood of Enid. Underwood
gave the officer his driver’s license, but told him he did not have insurance verification
in his car and he was unable to show the officer on his phone because the screen was
broken.
Underwood seemed lethargic and was slow to answer the officer’s questions. The officer asked him if he had taken any medication or consumed any alcoholic beverages.
Underwood said no.
After checking the men’s licenses with dispatch, the officer informed Underwood that
his vehicle was going to be towed for failure to have insurance.
He asked the men if there were any weapons or narcotics in the vehicle; both subjects
stated, “Not that we know of.”
Police inventoried the vehicle and found a Tylenol bottle that contained Xanax pills,
four straws that contained a powder residue and plastic baggies.
Underwood told police, “It’s my vehicle and I know I’m responsible for it.”
Underwood’s passenger told police that Underwood had called him earlier and asked
if he wanted to “take a ride.” He said he knew that they were driving from Enid to Ponca
City, but he didn’t know why. He added that Underwood had been on the phone with
his son while driving, which is why he drove off of the road several times.
Underwood is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance
(methamphetamine), possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Xanax) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on April 11, 2014.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A repeat DUI offender was arrested after he told police that he had drank two too
many beers at a Christmas party. ‘Tis the
season!
According to the affidavit, a Bartlesville
police was advised about a possible disabled
vehicle that was stopped in the roadway
with its hazard lights on on Dec. 13.
En route to the location, another officer
informed him that as he had attempted to
make a traffic stop on the vehicle. As he pulled behind the suspect vehicle, the car sped off at a high rate of speed and crossed
left of center.
Police were eventually able to stop the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Wesley Somoni Mairura, 24, of Barltesville.
Mairura smelled like alcohol and told police that he had consumed two 12-ounce bottles of beer at a Christmas dinner.
Mairura’s eyes were red and his speech was slurred.
After failing the standard field sobriety tests, the officer placed
him under arrest.
During an inventory of the vehicle, an officer found a clear
plastic cup with a clear liquid in it that smelled like alcohol.
Mairura told the officer that he had been arrested for a DUI in
Texas in 2011.
Next time, maybe Mairura should be focused on being full of
cheer during the Christmas season instead of full of beer.
Mairura is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while
under the influence of alcohol, second and subsequent. He was
released on a $7,500 bond and was scheduled to appear in court
on Dec. 20, 2013.

A highly intoxicated Bartlesville man is in jail after he allegedly attacked his wife and attempted to shoot her in the head
with a pellet gun.
On Dec. 16, Bartlesville police were dispatched to a residence
in the 1300 block of Elm Street in reference to a domestic dispute, the affidavit states.
When they arrived, they made contact with Derrick Joseph
Maynard, 32, and his wife. An officer asked his wife if she was
OK or if she needed any medical attention, but she said that
she was fine.
Another officer attempted to speak with Maynard, but said
Maynard was so highly intoxicated that he was not able to understand anything the drunk man was saying. With the assistance of police, Maynard
was able to sit down on the porch. He requested an ambulance, but police were unsure
why.
Police spoke with the victim, who told them that her husband had started drinking
earlier in the day. She could tell when he had become too intoxicated, because he started
calling her a bitch and throwing items at her.
The victim said that Maynard laid down in the floor, but that she was able to help him
get into bed. A little while later, she heard him get up and go to the bathroom. He came
back to the room and started being verbally abusive to her, calling her names and making threats.
He allegedly picked up an oil heater in their room and threw it at her. According to the
victim, he also grabbed a pellet rifle, pumped the gun, pointed it at her head and told
her, “You deserve to die,” before pulling the trigger.
The victim said the rifle just fired air because Maynard had not put a pellet in it. She
said he then threw the gun into the living room area and started punching her.
Maynard is being charged with domestic abuse — assault and battery, second and
subsequent. He is being held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
Jan. 3, 2014.

What you’re saying
about this on...
DeVocha H: People are sick
Cheryl T: eww
Cheyenna H: Out on
bond???????
Mary C: should have made his
bond higher
Eddie J: oh hell yea thats sexy
Bobby A: If they would just hang
one of these sick individuals that are in
to child porn, it might stop that sh**t.
Aline L: Sick ass people wonder
how many camera’s they haven’t found
not much telling with a perv...
Annie B: Love he has federal
charges. The federal courts don’t mess
around and im sure in a federal prison
he will be passed around.
Bill F: I hope this guy rots in hell
if he is convicted. He can say good by
high paying federal job with excellent
benefits.
Todd M: Sounds like he needs to
be taken on a hunting trip!!
Shaina B: He also looks like he
could b one of those people that may b
hiding a dead body n his basement JS!
Lol creepy!!!
Mary C: Of all the things to spy
on, and he spies on that? Sounds like
he was targeting people to me.... Creepy
creepy stuff...
Carolyn H: Doesn’t deserve bond
Heather G: Letting people out on
bond is so scary and in this case disgusting. It’s basically letting him free to
hide and destroy as much evidence as
he can...
Mariette W: Yeah...there is an
idea...lets put a man that has pedophilia images on his computer and a sick
mind back in the public while he waits
for a prison sentence...just to give him a
chance to act on his feelings before it is
too late. Making sense to you? No, me
neither
Jana S: He did this at the navy
base to my mom and great aunt who
work there so everyone who is saying
“my hero and that’s sexy” are sick. He
did this for months. How would you
like it if some perv was looking at your
mom or aunt?
Tuff H: They need to send him
down to boggy bottom.. Let us have
about 30 mins with him I can guarantee he won’t do it again
Mary S: Lovely..gets off on women
using the restroom. Like we don’t look
for cameras these days!!! Jeez, you can’t
get away with that anymore weirdo!
Belinda M: Considering this
same thing happened close to my home
of a store manager setting up a hidden
camara in the dollar general bathroom
I am very skeptical to use public restrooms !!! This jackass don’t need to
be out with society wow talk about rewarding him for his behavior
Sherri C: Creeper. That is just
gross. Why would he get his jollies
watching people pee? Weirdo.
Aundria F: Sad on so many levels..it happened and will continue to
happen. So much for the law “protecting” us! By releasing him they have put
so many more in danger of being violated. He is a sick sick man.
Brian M: Dude! I have walked
into the bathroom AFTER a woman has
used it, and based on that over stimulating sensory horror I would NOT ever
want to see the events leading up to
that.
HIDDEN CAMERAS IN WOMEN’S RESTROO M
A McAlester man was arrested and faces federal and state
charges after investigators say he put a hidden camera inside
the women’s restroom at the McAlester Army Ammunition
Plant.
Kenneth Elkins, 55, was an employee at the plant.
Elkins is charged with three counts of federal video voyeurism, two counts of recording/transmitting obscenity. The state
is also charging him with two counts of using electronic equipment in clandestine manner.
Investigators say women were videotaped using the restroom
at the plant between July and August. They say Elkins captured very revealing
pictures of least three of the women.
When investigators searched Elkins home they found child pornography on his
computer and evidence he was recording inside a 16-year-old relative’s room.
Elkins is out on bond.

A Bartlesville man was arrested in Pawhuska for the contents
of his truck while officers were investigating a nearby robbery.
On Dec. 11, Pawhuska police were dispatched to a residence in
the 900 block of E. 12th Street reference to a burglary. According
to the affidavit, an officer was attempting to make contact with
a subject involved with the robbery when he saw a man emerge
from around the east side of the residence.
The officer recognized the man as Nathan Leon Kendrick, 31.
Kendrick was walking toward the officer’s patrol car with his
head down, but as soon as he saw the vehicle, he immediately
stopped and started walking toward the back yard of the residence.
The officer watched as Kendrick walked to a truck that was in the back yard and placed
an item in the bed of the truck. Kendrick then turned around and started walking toward the officer again.
The officer asked Kendrick what he had placed in the back of the truck. Kendrick said
nothing.
The officer asked him again and Kendrick replied a propane torch.
Kendrick and the officer walked to the truck, and Kendrick grabbed a small propane
tank from the bed.
The officer looked in the bed and saw a cloth bag. He asked Kendrick if the bag was
his, and Kendrick said yes.
Inside the cloth bag, the officer found two smoking devices commonly used for smoking methamphetamine and a large baggie that contained several small baggies. Inside
one of the small baggies there was a white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for meth.
The officer placed Kendrick under arrest and, while searching him, found a pocket
scale in his right front pocket. Kendrick also had the tip that went on the propane tank;
he explained that he used it to smoke his meth.
Kendrick is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $5,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27, 2013.

Sexual gratification is often

for a rape offender.
True. While some offenders do
seek sexual gratification from the

not a primary motivation for a
rape offender. Power, control, and
anger are more likely to be the
primary motivators.

A Sand Spring woman was arrested after her attempt to foil police by going into
a convenience store failed.
On Dec. 12, a Pawnee County deputy was on patrol in Cleveland when he observed a vehicle driving down the road with it’s front driver’s side headlight out,
the affidavit states.
The deputy activated his lights in an attempt to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle abruptly pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store. A woman exited
the vehicle and quickly began walking toward the store.
According to the affidavit, the deputy recognized this behavior as indicative of
someone trying to distance themselves from their vehicle, possibly to keep police
from finding anything illegal.
The deputy met up with the woman who had exited the car and told her the
reason for the stop. She advised him that she was aware of the light but did not
have the funds to fix it.
He asked for her driver’s license and she handed him the ID, which identified her as Jamie Kaye Walser, 32.
They walked back to her car so she could retrieve her proof of insurance.
When Walser opened the car door, the deputy immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana.
After Walser handed the deputy her proof of insurance, she asked him if she could go inside the store and use
the restroom. Because he feared that she could destroy evidence or that she had illegal drugs on her person,
the deputy told her that he would have to pat her down and check her pockets before going inside. She told him
she would just wait.
The deputy asked for permission to search her vehicle, and Walser said “sure.”
While searching the vehicle, the deputy could see a change in Walser’s behavior as he approached her purse.
Inside the purse, the officer found a large baggie with a green substance inside, two Xanax pills and a smoking device that was warm to the touch with burnt residue inside.
He placed Walser in handcuffs and asked her if the marijuana was hers. She said yes. She also denied having
a prescription for the Xanax.
Walser is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia and defective equipment. She pled guilty to the charges and is scheduled to appear in court on
Dec. 15, 2015.

Well, winter is here! With this
most recent ice and snow storm
that gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant
obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t
really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by
iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch
on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give
some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to go
out 10 minutes before you leave and simply start your car up, and
get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good
to go! Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical deicing sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!
