Shannon Keith Hunt, 32, of Ponca City, was arrested after a
victim told police his “friend” hit him in the head with a tire iron.
According to the affidavit, the man told police he was in his
apartment on April 27 when he heard someone outside say, “M-
---- f----- going to give me my money.” The victim said he recognized Hunt’s voice and opened the door. Allegedly, Hunt walked
toward the victim and the victim saw Hunt slide a tire iron down
his right shirtsleeve.
The victim said, “Before I knew what was going on, he hit me
in the head with the tire iron.” The victim went back inside his
house and locked the door, then heard Hunt’s car speed off.
Police responded to the victim’s call and noticed a “very large
gash” on the victim’s forehead. The victim was taken to the hospital and told police the he
and Hunt were friends and he didn’t understand why Hunt would hit him; with friends like
that, who needs enemies?
Hunt was not immediately located, but a warrant for his arrest was issued on May 28. He
was arrested and his initial court appearance was on June 6.
Hunt is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after two or more
former convictions. He is being held on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on June 21, 2013.

A Ponca City man was arrested after allegedly throwing a cinderblock at a victim’s vehicle, causing the windshield to crack
and shatter.
According to the police report, the victim told Ponca City
Police that he left his son’s business on March 6 and when he
stopped at a stop sign, a man standing by the stop sign told him
that he was going to kick his a--.
The victim said he told the man he didn’t want any trouble
and drove away. The man, apparently angry he didn’t get to
kick the victim’s a--, allegedly threw a cinderblock at the victim’s vehicle.
The victim said the cinderblock caused his windshield to
crack and the back window to shatter.
The victim called police and said the suspect was wearing a
dark gray sweatshirt with “something on his head”; an officer
realized his description matched that of a man that had been in the station for a field interrogation earlier in the day.
After looking at a photo lineup, the victim identified William Greeley Allen, 52, as the man
who had thrown the cinderblock at his truck. He said he was “100% sure that the man in that
picture broke out my windows of my truck.”
Allen was arrested and is being charged for throwing or dropping an object on a motor vehicle. His bond set set at $20,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 2, 2013.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
2013 for some reason seems to
be the year of the drowning. There
seems to have been a large number
of drownings so far on Oklahoma lakes and waterways, the majority
of which could easily have been prevented. I am going to cover
some of the rules on wearing Personal Floatation Devices, as well as
some strong suggestions regarding them, in the hopes that we can
slow down this alarming trend!
First, let me just say that there are 5 types of PFDs. I’m not going
to get into their descriptions, just which types are required for what
situation. All PFDs must be U.S. Coast Guard approved, and used
in accordance with their label. The label will also state the type. All
vessels must carry one wearable (Type I, II, III, or V) USCG approved
PFD for each person on board or being towed. In addition to that,
vessels 16 feet in length or longer must have one Type IV USCG
approved PFD on board and readily accessible. Oklahoma Law
requires that all children under 13 years of age wear an approved
PFD whenever underway in a vessel less than 26 feet in length. Each
person on a personal watercraft or sailboard must wear an approved
PFD. Anyone being towed on water skis or similar devices must
wear an approved PFD. Ski belts are not approved PFDs.
Now, besides being USCG approved, all PFDs must be: In good
serviceable condition. They must also be readily accessible. Readily
accessible means you must be able to put the PFD on in a reasonable
amount of time in an emergency. PFDs should not be stowed in
plastic bags, in locked compartments, or have other gear stowed on
top of them. They must also be of the proper size for the intended
wearer. Sizing for PFDs is based on body weight and chest size. A
good way to test this, especially for children, is to put it on, adjust
the straps, and have the wearer raise their arms up, and try to pull it
up off them. If it can come off, it is not the right size for the wearer.
Those are the requirements, so now lets talk about the suggestions.
If you have children in or around water, make sure they have a PFD
on. Air mattresses, floaties, and other toy floatation objects don’t
count. There have been way too many stories of toddlers near the
water’s edge falling in and drowning, and these could be prevented
by following this suggestion.
Also, keep a watchful eye on those kids...even if they are only out
of your sight for a few seconds, its long enough for them to get in
trouble around the water. Last, wear one on boats even if you don’t
have to. In an emergency, you may not have enough time to put it
on.

unrighteousness, injustice, and inequity. These things anger
God as well.
But if you are angry because someone has disturbed
your pride, self-sufficiency, status, prestige, or power.
your reaction will likely be sinful. And sinful anger is often
expressed in harshness, cruelty, bitterness, and a lack of
control.
We must examine our hearts when our kids make us angry.
If it is righteous anger, let it motivate you to take action and
deliver consequences. Sin needs to be addressed, and we
honor God by delivering those consequences with empathy
and love. If it is sinful anger, pray for the courage to confess
it, repent, and resolve it.
Examine your anger to determine the motives behind it.
(Ephesians 4:26-27) 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger
control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still
angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

On April 25, a Washington County
Sheriff’s Department deputy was dispatched to resolve an issue between
bickering neighbors that included a
protective order violation, weed killer and burnt grass.
According to the affidavit, victims
said they drove past their neighbor’s
house and apparently, she was not
pleased to see them. The victims alleged their neighbor, 47-year-old
Glenda Faye Haller of Skiatook, had
both of her arms raised in the air
with only her middle fingers on both
hands up and yelled, “B----! B----!
B----!”
One of the victims told the deputy a protective order was in place
for her family against Haller.
The victim’s husband told police he noticed that some of the grass
and privacy fence he had erected between his family’s home and
Haller’s home was burned. He said that a total of 93 pickets were
burned on the fence.
Haller admitted to burning the grass, but defended her actions by
explaining that she believed that her neighbors had sprayed weed
and grass killer along the fence line, killing her grass. According
to the officer, Haller had tears and her eyes and her voice began to
crack as she gave her side of the story.
She denied yelling at her neighbors and told she officer she had
been careful while she burned the grass. Haller added that she believed her neighbors were using law enforcement to harass her and
make her move away.
After reviewing the evidence, Haller was charged May 16 for a protective order violation and third-degree arson. Her bond was set at
$25,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2013.

Word to the wise: if police attempt to
pull your vehicle over, it would probably
be best to comply.
Apparently, no one told Travis Cecil
Hunter, 30, of Wann, that attempting to
run away from a police officer will only increase your troubles.
On May 9, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper noticed a vehicle driving down
the road that did not have a tag or working break lights. He initiated a traffic stop
by turning on his overhead lights. According to the affidavit, the driver, identified as
Hunter, failed to pull over and kept driving.
He rammed his vehicle through a closed gate and the vehicle pursuit ended when Hunter hit a ditch and his airbags deployed.
Hunter exited the vehicle and began to run.
The trooper got out of his car and chased the driver on foot. Hunter put his right hand in his waistband at the small of his back. The
trooper, fearing Hunter had a weapon, withdrew his gun and pulled
the trigger. He pointed it at the ground as she shot and the bullet
traveled into the ground.
The driver turned around and yelled “(expletive) you don’t shoot
me!”
The driver continued to ignore the trooper’s repeated commands
to get on the ground.
The trooper saw a white truck driving down the road and flagged
the vehicle down. The driver of the vehicle identified the runner as
his neighbor, Hunter. The man gave the trooper a ride closer to the
driver.
Hunter had escaped in a heavily wooded area and a manhunt using K9’s was unsuccessful and eventually terminated. An inspection
of the truck revealed bald tires, a cracked windshield and the driver
door would not stay shut.
On May 10, police visited the residence of Hunter’s father. The
man told police that his son had arrived at his home the night before
wearing wet and muddy clothes. Hunter apparently told his dad that
he had been chased and shot at by law enforcement and he had run
because he had a suspended driver’s license.
Hunter was eventually arrested and is being charged with endangering others while eluding/ attempting to elude police officer,
driving with revoked license, failure to display current tag, operating vehicle with defective equipment or unsafe conditions, obstructing driver’s view and miscellaneous required vehicle equipment. He is being held on a $500,000 bond and appeared in court
on June 21, 2013.

Tulsa police arrested a man accused of holding his exgirlfriend’s children hostage for $100.
Police said the children’s mother called them and
said she was fighting with her ex-boyfriend, Cody Lee
Panther, and he took both of her children without her
permission.
She told police Panther then started texting her that
he would not bring the kids back if she did not pay him
$100. Police arrested Panther on two counts of child
stealing.

Pawhuska’s former football coach and his
wife were arrested May 29 on embezzlement
charges.
Scotty Gilkey Sr. and Jennifer Lynn
Gilkey, were each charged with seven counts
of misdemeanor embezzlement in Osage
County District Court. Scott Gilkey was also
arraigned on a related felony embezzlement
charge.
Coach Gilkey was suspended from
Pawhuska Public Schools in November 2012
and his contract was not renewed at the end
of the year, according to reports.
The felony charge alleges that coach Gilkey
fraudulently appropriated approximately
$2,500 in proceeds from the Pawhuska
football fireworks stand.
The Gilkeys are scheduled to appear next
in court on July 26.

reward for information leading to the arrest
and conviction of the person or persons
responsible for the homicide of Carina
Saunders. The 19-year-old’s body was found
in the fi eld west of the Homeland Grocery
Store at the intersection of Rockwell and N.E.
23rd Street in Bethany October 13, 2011. The
Bethany Police Department worked the case
until recently when it requested OSBI take
over the investigation.
After a thorough review of the case fi les produced by Bethany
P.D., the OSBI agent assigned this case has determined more
work can be performed – through interviews, forensics, and other
investigative tools. However, the OSBI will need the public’s help
in developing further leads and expanding current ones. Therefore,
if anyone has any information, knows of any evidence in this case,
they are urged to call 1-800-522-8017. The $10,000 reward is the
maximum state law allows OSBI to off er.

On May 16, the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force
searched the Ralston home of Tracy Don Harris, 38, and located a
hydroponic marijuana cultivation operation.
According to the affidavit, officers with the task force went to Harris’s home after obtaining a search warrant. Harris was not at the
residence, but his wife and children were in the home.
Officers presented his wife with the warrant and made her and the
children wait outside while the home was searched.
In the master bedroom, police found a hidden door revealed in the
closet. Behind the door was a room full of juvenile marijuana plants
and equipment used to cultivate the drug.
Through a second door in the room, officer discovered buckets of
chemicals and water and marijuana seeds.
There was also a third room that contained large adult marijuana plants with blooms growing on them. According to police, the plants were fully matured and ready to be harvested.
Officers also found a black powder primitive rifle stored in the room with the juvenile
plants and a jar in the master bedroom that contained a large bud of marijuana that appeared to have been pruned from the marijuana plants.
Harris told police that he was a convicted felon, but did not realize that he could no longer
own a firearm.
Harris is being charged for conspiracy to commit a felony, maintaining a place for keeping
controlled substance and possession of a firearm during commission of felony. He is being
held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, 2013.

Antonio Younger, a 39-year-old convicted
sex offender, was jailed while wearing a wig
and sharpie marker eyebrows after Tulsa Police picked him up on a warrant for failing to
register as a sex offender.
According to Tulsa Police, Younger was arrested during a traffic stop in which he was
found sporting a wig and sharpie marker
eyebrows.
Investigators say the warrant had been issued back in July 2011 when he failed to register as a sex offender or notify authorities of
his whereabouts following his release from prison.
According to court records, Younger served 5 years of a 9-year
prison sentenced after he was convicted of first-degree rape and intimidating a witness. Upon his release, Younger was ordered to register as a sex offender and notify authorities within 3 days anytime
he had a change of address.
Younger apparently thought wearing a wig for the rest of his life
would be a far easier task to deal with.
He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail and charged with failing
to register with authorities.

A man driving a stolen car that went into a ditch
fl agged down the wrong person for help.
Dean Gangl, 40, of Richmond, Minn., unwittingly asked an off -duty sheriff ’s deputy to help
him pull the vehicle out of a ditch along Benton
County Road 4 west of Foley, Minn., Sheriff Brad
Bennett said.
The deputy, who came upon the stranded motorist at while he was on his way home, noticed that
the vehicle in the ditch matched the description of
one reported stolen hours earlier in St. Cloud. The
deputy radioed to dispatchers, who confi rmed the
man was driving a stolen car, Bennett said.
The deputy arrested Gangl and found that he
was in possession of a white crystal substance.
Gangl tested positive for methamphetamine, Bennett said.
He was taken to the Benton County Jail and
charged with being in possession of controlled substance and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
A house burglar was arrested at a court when he
showed up for another case, police said. The man
kicked in the back door of a home and entered
but ran off when a teenage girl who was lying on
a couch saw him and started screaming, Nassau
County police said.
The girl identifi ed the 49-year-old man, who
had multiple prior arrests for burglary, in a photo
lineup, they said.
The man, from Bayville, was arrested by an offi cer when he went to First District Court for an
unrelated issue, police said. He was charged with
second-degree burglary.
A Perth man has been charged with drink driving three times in 24 hours, his menacing spree
ending with a bizarre incident at a police station.
The 46-year-old was fi rst stopped by Boddington police in the Perth hills and charged with driving under the infl uence and driving with a suspended license.
He was spotted driving his car again a short time
later and arrested for drink-driving, police said.
The man’s car was impounded in the Boddington police station but early the next morning, the
man allegedly jumped over the fence of the police
station, broke open a padlock on a back gate and
drove away in his car.
He was caught and arrested again three hours
later and charged with three counts of driving under the infl uence; three counts of driving while under suspension and one charge of trespass.
He’s been refused bail.
