6 | JUNE 2018 KAY COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
A man in Minneapolis was caught walking along the intersection of a road…
wearing a pair of high heels. And. Nothing. Else. To sicken your mental picture
even further, he’s 63 years old. He ran through the snow and hopped in his car
when he saw the police following. Luckily, they tracked him down and arrested
him before he showed up on the cover of Vogue.
A man in Houston was caught on camera while trying to cash a stolen check.
His identity is unknown, and is therefore known as the “Have You Seen My
Zombie?” Dude, because of what’s written on his t-shirt. According to witnesses, he also has glasses, and interesting red facial hair. No word yet on where
the zombie is.
A man in Miami, tripping out on bath salts (a new faux-cocaine trend), starting
knocking on neighbors’ doors saying he needed an ambulance. He was frustrated when the police showed up, and caused even more trouble. He scraped
his teeth across the hood of a police car after being handcuffed. It surprisingly
made quite a scratch.
A woman in Indiana came home one night to find a man seated in one of
her chairs. He refused to leave, even after the police were called, apparently
believing that this was his home. He had even done some household chores.
The laundry was folded, floors were vacuumed, and there was some chicken
cooking on the stove. I bet this is one crime most of us wouldn’t mind being
victims of.
A rather large man decided he was in desperate need of some socks. So
desperate, in fact, that he entered Wal-Mart at night to steal them. Wearing…
absolutely nothing. Maybe it was a political statement, maybe he was trying
to do a Red Hot Chili Peppers type-thing….who knows? To make matters
stranger, he refused to comply with police officers until they subdued him with
a stun gun.
Two grown brothers in Pennsylvania were sharing a McDonald’s brownie when apparently one became enraged. He picked up three (three?) steak
knives, and began to slash and stab his shocked brother. This is not his first
stabbing incident. The other probably involved a McFlurry.
A man was convicted of using paper clips instead of the usual stainless steel
posts when treating root canals. Ouch. He was sentenced to a year in jail,
having already been fined for assault, battery, defraud, illegal prescriptions, and
witness intimidation. Not exactly the kind of man you want sticking his fingers
down your throat. Then again, who is?

A Barnsdall man is in jail for allegedly stabbing a
man to death during a birthday party at his home in
early May.
According to reports, Osage County deputies
were dispatched to a residence near Oklahoma 11,
southeast of Barnsdall, at approximately 5 a.m. on
May 9. They found the body of a man who had been
stabbed multiple times.
During their investigation, they spoke to the homeowner, identified as 24-year-old Dakoda Aaron McCauley. McCauley told them the victim had come
to his house for a birthday party the night before.
During the party, McCauley said he and the victim started fighting, and the
victim threatened him with a knife.
Statements from other people who were at the party and phone records
suggested that McCauley wasn’t telling the truth about what happened.
He was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
McCauley is being charged with murder in the second degree or in the
alternative manslaughter. His bond was set at $200,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 5, 2018.

This is a great conversation to have with
your friend’s treatment provider. Different
patients need different levels of support. If
there are difficult dynamics in a family group
or set of friends, the counselor may recommend little contact for a while. It is important
to tell friends struggling with addiction that
you admire their courage for tackling this
medical problem directly through treatment
and that as long as they stick with the treatment plan, you will offer encouragement
and support. When residential treatment is over, your friend will have to re-enter
the community and it will be a difficult time. There will be triggers everywhere that
could promote a relapse—such as driving by places where the person once took
drugs, or seeing friends who provided those drugs. You can encourage your friend
to avoid these triggers, and you can make an effort to ask him or her what those
triggers are. However, people addicted to drugs have to fight much of this struggle
on their own, without the help and advice of friends, using the knowledge and
skills learned in treatment. Offer as much love and support you can as long as your
friend continues to follow the treatment plan. If your he or she relapses, you should
encourage additional treatment.
If my friend does go into treatment,
how can I offer support?

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

married school employee charged
with rape
A former employee of Cleveland Public
Schools was arrested after she allegedly admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old student.
Reports state that a concerned citizen
informed the school principal of the inappropriate relationship between the teen and
45-year-old Darla Raelene McCullough on
May 10.
Cleveland police arrested the woman that
night.
During the investigation, officers found text
messages McCullough exchanged with the
student. In some of the messages, they told
each other “I love you.” In another one, McCullough said she took a pill and was happy
she wasn’t pregnant.
According to reports, the student listed McCullough as “Kendra” in his
phone. He said he didn’t want to use her real name in case someone else
used his phone. Officers called “Kendra” from the boy’s phone, and McCullough’s phone started ringing.
At first, McCullough denied being involved with the student. After an investigator showed her the text messages she sent to the student, she admitted to
having sex with him. She told police she slept with the student because she
felt empty inside. The two would allegedly meet up at a local retirement home
and have sex in one of the rooms. McCullough would also unlock a room at
the high school, so she and the student could meet up during the day.
After charges were filed against the woman, she was fired from her job as a
paraprofessional at the school.
McCullough is being charged with second-degree rape. Her bond was set
at $15,000.

20 | JUNE 2018 WASHINGTON COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
June is Internet Safety Month
Computer interconnectivity
has produced enormous benefits, but has also enabled criminal activity that exploits this interconnectivity for financial gain
and other malicious purposes,
such as internet fraud, child
exploitation, identity theft, and
terrorism. The Internet can give
identity thieves, hackers, and
scammers online access to your computer, financial and personal information
and more. Additionally, today’s mobile devices are well integrated with the
internet and have far more functionality than mobile phones of the past. They
are increasingly used in the same way as personal computers, potentially
making them susceptible to similar threats affecting computers connected to
the Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful arena for
socializing and learning. However, the use of the internet also brings about
risks to their safety, including the dangers of sexual solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating, parents -- regardless of whether they
are technologically savvy -- can help their kids make better decisions about
online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated with protecting
networks and information, detecting criminal activity, investigating crime, and
prosecuting criminals, . The Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America against cyber threats and has developed a pragmatic
and focused cyber-security legislative proposal for Congress to consider. The
proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for the American
people, our Nation’s critical infrastructure, and the Federal Government’s own
networks and computers.

It is with heavy hearts the Bartlesville Police
Department announces the passing of K9 Officer Apollo. He served his community faithfully throughout his career. After a recent sudden illness, he demonstrated the strength and
determination sufficient to allow for his return
home with his handler Sgt Troy Newell. Sadly,
he suffered setbacks from which he was unable to recover. He passed peacefully with his
partner, fellow officers, and other loved ones
by his side. Apollo was a good and faithful
servant who will be missed by all who had
the blessing of knowing him. The Bartlesville
Police Department is grateful for the outpouring of concern, kind
wishes and prayers.
