birds of a feather
Two Oklahoma City residents were
placed under arrest after an officer found
stolen items in their vehicle during a traffic
stop on April 13.
According to the affidavit, a Blackwell
officer stopped a speeding vehicle on the
I-35 overpass near 44th Street westbound
at approximately 10:20 p.m. He made contact with the driver, Sharlyn Sharday Butler,
30. She was unable to provide a driver’s license and proof of insurance. She told the
officer that the car belonged to her aunt.
The passenger was identified as 26-yearold Terrel Carolina.
Butler told the officer they were headed back to OKC from Wichita, Kansas.
They had planned to stop at the Blackwell
Walmart, but the store was closed so they
were headed back to I-35.
While they were speaking, the officer was
advised that Butler’s license was suspended. He put her in handcuffs and placed her
in the patrol car. She asked the officer to
tell Carolina to call her aunt to come get
him, and to get her things out of the car.
Carolina started placing stuff into large
trash bags. An officer noticed that some of the items still had security tags on them from stores. Carolina explained that Butler had
stolen the items while he was at a residence in Wichita.
Both Carolina and Butler were transported to jail.
Carolina told police that he went with Butler to visit her cousins
in Wichita. At one point, they stopped at a Walgreens in Kansas,
and the man said he saw Butler take a pair of clippers and leave
the store without paying. She allegedly told him that she stole them
some stuff.
The vehicle was also reported as stolen.
Butler refused to speak to officers without a lawyer.
Butler is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property and unauthorized use of motor vehicle. Her bond was set at
$7,500.
Carolina is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $5,000.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty KAY COUNTY 9 | MAY 2018
Two robbery suspects lost their loot to the wind after a holdup at a travel
agent’s office, police video shows.
Surveillance footage shows money dropping from the pockets of an unidentified man’s pants as the robbers flee the travel agency in Droylsden, northern
England, according to police. Gusty winds then scatter the bills in the street
and foil attempts to collect it. Greater Manchester Police released footage of
the bungled getaway online. “This duo threatened innocent people working
in the travel agents and should know their actions are utterly unacceptable,”
Detective Constable Phil Scargill said via a statement. “They took every step
to secure the money in the shop, but left the stolen notes in their wake as they
fled from the scene,” Scargill added. It’s unclear how much money was stolen,
or whether any was recovered.
Here’s a volatile combination: nudity, guns, drugs and pizza. At least for Phillip Engle, the 27-year-old man who found himself in a not-so-happy situation
at Happy’s Pizza in Muskegon Charter Township, Michigan. Engle, who lives
next door, allegedly showed up at the pizzeria wearing just a towel with his
three young children in tow. According to the police incident report, Engle was
carrying a gun, and he used it to bang on the glass door until it shattered. The
gun then allegedly discharged, and police found a bullet casing lodged in the
door’s metal frame. Officers who responded to the scene say they found Engle
on his porch with a handgun. He threw the gun in the yard when ordered to
drop it. Later he told them that he had three loaded guns in his home, which
they confiscated for safekeeping. An employee at Happy’s Pizza told an officer
from the Muskegon Township Police Department that when Engle was at the
shop, he yelled, “No one will help me,” and “No one will feed my kids!” He also
allegedly said, “I’m trippin’ out!” Engle reportedly told police that he had earlier
consumed four hits of LSD. One of Engle’s young children told officers that
her father had also shot the dashboard of their car because it wouldn’t stop
beeping. They found a spent casing on the dashboard and what appeared to
be a bullet hole. According to Fox 17, Engle’s wife said she took out a personal
protection order from him. Engle was arraigned on four misdemeanor charges:
malicious destruction of property worth $200 to $1,000, careless discharge of
a firearm, reckless use of a firearm and possession of a firearm while under the
influence.
Imagine if Walter White of “Breaking Bad” had driven around wearing a hat
that read, “Meth.”
A man was sporting a beanie with the word “Weed” on it when he was pulled
over for a lane change no-no near La Pine, Ore. When the trooper explored
further, he found 6 pounds of weed worth $15,000 hidden in the car, according
to a police news release. Now, instead of a routine traffic violation, 32-year-old
Ali Reza Tabibnejad, of Missoula, Mont., faces charges of unlawful possession
and delivery of a controlled substance. This wouldn’t be the first case of a
suspect graphically telegraphing a crime. When Bryan Wendler, of Marathon
County, Wisc., was arrested on charges of drunken driving last year, he wore a
T-shirt that read, “Been Drinking? Free Breathalyzer Test: Blow Here.” An arrow
pointed at his crotch.

around the state
Custer County -- Saturday, April 7th, 2018,
a Clinton Public Schools teacher and her husband drove to the Clinton Police Department
where she confessed to having a sexual relationship with one of her 15-year-old students.
The Clinton Police Department requested
OSBI special agents assist with the investigation. OSBI agents interviewed Keri Hoffman,
35, and collected the information about the
crimes. Hoffman used Facebook messenger
to communicate with the teenage boy and
to set up locations for sexual contact. She
admitted to having sex with the boy numerous times since March 30, 2018, inside her
car in Washita County and inside her father’s
detached garage in Custer County. Hoffman went on to say that she took a
group of students to the Capitol to participate in the teacher walkout. The victim was part of that group. Hoffman picked him up first and dropped him off
last, having sex with him each time. After an OSBI special agent interviewed
the victim, agents arrested Hoffman at 329 N. 24th in Clinton and booked
her into the Custer County jail. She is being charged with Facilitating Sexual
Conduct or Communication with Minor by Use of Technology, which carries
up to 10 years in prison or up to a $10,000 fine; two counts of Second Degree
Rape, each carries up to 15 years in prison; and with Pattern of Criminal Offenses, which carries up to 2 years or a fine of up to $25,000. Her bond was
reduced to $30,000.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

national police week
Sunday, May 13 -
Saturday, May 19, 2018
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which
designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in
which that date falls as Police Week.
Currently, tens of thousands of law
enforcement officers from around the
world converge on Washington, DC
to participate in a number of planned
events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The Memorial Service began in 1982 as a gathering in Senate Park of approximately 120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Decades later,
the event, more commonly known as National Police Week, has grown to a
series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement
officers to our Nation’s Capital each year.
The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, which is sponsored by the
Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, is one in a series of events
which includes the Candlelight Vigil, which is sponsored by the National Law
Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and seminars sponsored by
Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.)
National Police Week draws in between 25,000 to 40,000 attendees. The
attendees come from departments throughout the United States as well as
from agencies throughout the world. This provides a unique opportunity to
meet others that share a common brotherhood. In that spirit, the Fraternal Order of Police DC Lodge #1 sponsors receptions each afternoon and evening
during Police Week. These events are open to all law enforcement personnel
and are an experience unlike any other.

taming of the shrew
Tulsa woman Tonya Kay Wise, 45, was
arrested on April 2 after some vodka sent
her on a violent and racist crusade against
a man and police officers.
According to the police report, a Pawnee County deputy was dispatched to a
domestic in progress at the Edgewater RV
Park shortly after 8 p.m. When the officer
arrived, he saw Wise stumbling down the
street. She yelled, “I’m drunk and have
warrants – just take me to jail!”
She directed him to a nearby lot, and a
man stepped outside of the residence. The
woman accused him of hitting her in the mouth. She kept yelling at
the man and tried to slap him and push him off the porch.
The deputy put Wise in handcuffs, but she struggled and resisted.
The man told the deputy that Wise had been drinking vodka that
night, and liquor usually made the woman extremely violent and
racist. She had wanted him to take her to see her ex-boyfriend in
Tulsa. When he refused, she started pushing and slapping at him.
She also tried to hit him with a baseball bat.
While they were speaking, Wise yelled that she was going to stab
the man. She also told the deputy he was only taking the man’s side
because he was white.
Wise continued to threaten both the man and the officer. When
they officer tried to put her in the patrol car, she resisted. He was
able to get her in the front passenger seat, but she kicked at everything. The deputy put her in feet restraints.
The ordeal didn’t stop when they arrived at jail. It took several
officers to get the woman out of the car, and she continued to yell
racial slurs. Officers placed her in a detox cell.
The deputy walked by and saw the woman counting some money
that had been hidden in her bra. When officers went into the cell
to retrieve the cash, she refused to hand it over, because officers
weren’t asking nicely enough. Wise also spit at officers and kicked
the deputy in the chest.
Wise is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon, two counts of prisoner placing body fluid on government
employee, assault and battery, obstructing an officer, resisting an
officer and public intoxication. Her bond was set at $25,000.

fanning the fire
Bartlesville men Patrick Austin Bradley,
19, and 18-year-old Hunter Thomas Martin
were arrested for allegedly starting grassfires on February 13 and February 14.
As if that wasn’t already bad enough,
both men were members of the Washington County Fire Department and Washington County Emergency Management.
According to reports, Bradley told officers that he and Martin were driving near
North 4020 Road and West 1800 Road on
February 14 when they caused a fire. He
said Martin jumped out of the vehicle, lit a
piece of paper on fire and threw it on the
ground. They drove away from the scene,
but Martin told police Bradley also threw a
lit piece of paper on the ground near North
4000 Road and West 1900 Road.
The man said Bradley was with him when
he started a fire near North 4000 Road and
Highway 60 on February 13.
Reports state that both men admitted to
being involved with starting the grassfires.
Bradley, however, said he wasn’t responsible for lighting any of them.
The men were arrested and transported
to jail.
According to documents from the fire department, members of
the Washington County Fire Department did respond to grass fires
in the area on February 13 and 14. Fortunately, no one was harmed,
and no structures were damaged in the fires.
Both men are being charged with two counts of arson in the third
degree.
Bradley’s bond was set at $5,000, and Martin’s bond was set at
$20,000. They are both scheduled to appear in court on May 18,
2018.

A Bartlesville woman claimed she received a
surprise in her bag of chips when officers found
meth in the bag during a traffic stop.
According to reports, a Bartlesville officer
stopped a vehicle and was advised that the driver,
45-year-old Bonnie Pocahontas Stoy, had a suspended driver’s license. He placed her under arrest and searched her vehicle.
While looking through the car, the officer found
a bag of chips by the passenger seat. Inside the
bag, he saw a bag of methamphetamine. The
meth weighed approximately half a gram.
Stoy admitted that she had been eating the
chips, but she told the officer that she didn’t know
there were any drugs in the bag.
Stoy appeared in court on April 10 for the charge of possession of controlled dangerous substance. Her bond was set at $500, and she is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.

Although they are not a substitute for treatment, self-help groups like 12-step programs
can be a great source of support and encouragement while a person is engaged in treatment,
and after. The most well-known self-help groups
are those affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous
(AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Cocaine
Anonymous (CA), all of which are based on the
12-step model.
Most drug addiction treatment programs encourage patients to participate
in a self-help group during and after formal treatment. These groups can be
particularly helpful during recovery, as they are a source of ongoing communal support and encouragement to stay drug free. Information on local meetings can be found on their websites. Support groups for family members of
people with addictions, like Al-anon and Alateen, can also be helpful.
There are other groups in the private sector that can provide a lot of support. To find meetings in your area, contact local hospitals, treatment centers, or faith-based organizations. These organizations often coordinate support groups for substance abuse.
