OUT GO THE LIGHTS
Michael Lee Hankins, 35, is being charged with
assault and battery after he allegedly hit a woman
in the head with a light fixture on March 28.
According to reports, Ponca City officers were
dispatched to the 700 block on North Oak to investigate reports of Hankins trying to break into a home. The woman who lived
at the residence told police that she let Hankins inside her home so he could
take a shower. As he was leaving, he asked her to go with him. He said he had a
surprise for her. When she refused, Hankins allegedly pulled a light fixture down
from the ceiling and then hit her with it.
The woman told Hankins she would leave with him.
When they walked outside, she went back into the residence and locked the
door. Hankins left the area when the woman called police, but he later returned.
Officers saw him across the street from the woman’s home and placed him
under arrest.
Reports state this will be the third assault case filed against the man since
March 2022. He was convicted for two cases and was sentenced to 15 years in
prison with all but six months suspended.
Hankins is being charged with domestic assault, battery, or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after the former conviction of two or more felonies. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
June 2, 2023.

AROUND THE STATE
NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Enid man Walter Lee Hill Jr., 40, was put behind bars after he allegedly fired a gun at officers during an hours-long
standoff on March 16.
According to reports, Enid officers were dispatched to
the 1200 block of East Elm at approximately 3:52 p.m. to
investigate reports of a man firing a gun into the air. When
they arrived, they couldn’t find the man who was firing the shots.
A second call at 4:27 p.m. advised officers that there were shots fired in the area of 12th Street
and Cypress. They went to the location and met with a witness who said the shots were fired at
a nearby residence.
Officers went to the residence. A woman told them that Hill shot at her inside the residence.
Officers surrounded the residence and made announcements to Hill.
Hill then fired shots at the officers from inside the residence. Officers returned fire.
The SWAT team was called to the scene. Garfield County deputies, North Enid police officers,
and Waukomis officers also responded to the scene.
Officers spoke to Hill on the phone, but they couldn’t convince the man to surrender. After
nearly six hours, they deployed gas canisters inside the residence.
Payne County deputies arrived at the scene in armored vehicles to assist. Hill surrendered
shortly thereafter, around 9:42 p.m.
Hill is being charged with six counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a
firearm after a former felony conviction. His bond was set at $1M and he is scheduled to appear
in court on April 17, 2023.

NEWS FROM OUR
NEIGHBORS
In Boone County, Arkansas, a man was arrested for stealing an outdoor video surveillance camera from a business. He was caught
because of surveillance video ... from a camera on an adjoining building.
In Harrison, Arkansas, emergency personnel were called to a pawn shop
regarding a man stuck in the store’s chimney. He tried to tell the police he
was taking a short cut home late the night before, and decided to walk across
the roofs of adjacent buildings. You might have seen his picture looking up at
a camera from that chimney ... it made the news on the Today show.
In nearby Marion County, Arkansas, a woman had served her time in the
county jail and was released. A short time later, she called the jail and told
them she had left something in her jumpsuit and was coming back to claim
it. Deputies found a small container in the jumpsuit, tested the contents and
found that it was meth. The woman came in, she was asked if the container
was hers. When she said yes, she was arrested.

APRIL FOOL'S
A 19-year-old Ponca City man was arrested
after he allegedly slapped a woman on April 1.
According to reports, the victim was using a
communication device to speak to a person, a
third party witness, when 19-year-old Carson
James Tipton slapped her. He then fled the scene.
When Osage County deputies arrived at the location, they noticed that the
victim’s face was red. The victim told police that the third party witness told
her that Tipton had made some threats that he was going to harm a school.
The witness later advised that there were no threats made. The witness did
say, however, that they were watching the news with Tipton and they saw a
segment about a recent school shooting. Tipton said that he felt there were
probably going to be more shootings.
Deputies arrested the man the next day.
Tipton is being charged with domestic abuse - assault and battery and
obstructing an officer. His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on June 16, 2023.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT
A 48-year-old Barnsdall man was put behind
bars after officers found drugs and paraphernalia in his possession during a traffic stop on
April 16.
According to reports, a Bartlesville officer
stopped Jason Alan Gorrell on Madison Street. He noticed that the plate on
Gorrell’s Honda car belonged to a Kawasaki motorcycle.
In a nearby parking lot where the traffic stop took place, the officer found
a purple Crown Royal bag. In the bag, there was a baggie containing a crystal-like substance, syringes, and a digital scale.
Gorrell said it wasn’t hit.
Officers reviewed footage from a business. The footage showed Gorrell pull
into the parking lot, drop the bag out of the window, and drive away.
The substance in the bag was identified as 20 grams of methamphetamine.
Gorrell is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs after the former conviction of two or more felonies, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia,
and operating a vehicle with expired/improper tag/decal. His bond was set at
$100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 6, 2023. ANTHONY

The Officer conducted a traffic stop, and
found the driver, later identified as Joshua Cole, had 21 City of Tulsa warrants.
Cole was taken to the City of Tulsa jail where he was booked for his warrants and speeding.
At booking, it was discovered Cole was hiding nearly 20 grams of a crystal
substance in his sock, which field tested positive for Fentanyl.
Joshua Cole was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for:
- Carrying Drugs into Jail
- Speeding
- Aggravated Trafficking in Fentanyl
- Multiple outstanding warrants
A passenger in the vehicle, Lawrence Dunagan, was also arrested for several outstanding city warrants.
