October is National Domestic
Awareness Month
The following is a list of early
warning signs that someone may
be abusive. This list was put together by survivors of domestic
violence who reflected on the early
phases of the battering relationship
and identified some of the early
warning signs of abusers.
Someone who:
• Wants to move too quickly into the relationship.
• Does not honor your boundaries.
• Is excessively jealous and accuses you of having affairs.
• Wants to know where you are all of the time and frequently calls, emails and texts
you throughout the day.
• Criticizes you or puts you down; most commonly tells you that you are “crazy,”
“stupid” and/or “fat,” or that no one would ever want or love you.
• Says one thing and does another.
• Takes no responsibility for their behavior and blames others.
• Has a history of battering.
• Blames the entire failure of previous relationships on their partner; for example,
“My ex was a total bitch.”
• Grew up in an abusive or violent home.
• Insists that you stop spending time with your friends or family.
• Seems “too good to be true.”
• Insists that you stop participating in leisure interests.
• Rages out of control and is impulsive.
Pay attention to the “red flags “and trust your instincts. Survivors of domestic violence frequently report that their instincts told them that there was something wrong
early on but they disregarded the warning signs and didn’t know that these signs were
indicative of an abusive relationship. Always take time to get to know a potential partner and watch for patterns of behavior in a variety of settings. Keeping in touch with
your support system and participating in good self-care can lower your risk of being
involved in an abusive relationship.

high school student arrested on
terrorism hoax complaint
A Blackwell High School student was
taken into custody after he allegedly
made threatening posts on Snap-Chat
against the school.
The Blackwell Police Department said
that on Tuesday, September 4, about 9:20
p.m., Blackwell Police received a report of
a possible threatening message that had
been posted on the social media platform
Snap-Chat. The post was a picture of
an AR-15 style rifle with “Don’t come to
school tomorrow”. Blackwell Police were able to identify and locate the
person responsible for the message, a 16-year-old student at Blackwell High School.
At about 10:10 p.m., Blackwell Police took the teen into custody
and transported him to the Blackwell Police Department. Investigators
spoke to the juvenile, who admitted to making the post and then taking it down after a few minutes. Investigators found that the juvenile
took the picture from the internet and does not own or have access to
the weapon. The juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention facility where he is expected to be charged with terrorism hoax.
“In the aftermath of recent tragic school shootings, there has been
an increase in the number of hoax threats to schools and public locations around the country,” Blackwell Police stated on their Facebook
page. “There are serious consequences that go along with making
these types of threats, they’re not funny, and the Blackwell Police Department is going to take them very seriously. With a thoughtless remark on social media, young people risk starting out their adult lives in
prison and forever being labeled a felon. The Blackwell Police Department would like to remind everyone to always think before you post.”

repo depot
A Skiatook woman was taken into custody
after she attacked a repo man with a hatchet.
Renee Michelle Ricker, 49, of Skiatook,
was charged August 31 with assault with a
dangerous weapon, driving while the privilege
is suspended, failure to maintain insurance or
security, operating a vehicle with an improper
tag and malicious injury to property under
$1000, in Osage County District Court.
According to a report, a deputy was called
to a home in Skiatook on a report that a
woman was attacking him with an ax (hatchet). The man said he was in the process of
repossessing a travel trailer when the woman, identified as Ricker, began attacking him.
She began swinging the weapon at him and threatening him. Ricker then
whacked the man’s truck with the hatchet, leaving a two-inch gouge in the
vehicle. She then left the scene.
The deputy soon found Ricker and pulled her vehicle over. She emphatically
denied she had swung the hatchet at the victim or his truck when asked by
the deputy. Even when the deputy found the weapon in the trees near her
vehicle, she continued to deny the accusations. A passenger in her vehicle
said Ricker had leaned across the front seat and threw the hatchet out the
passenger side window into the trees.
Ricker was taken into custody and booked. At her status conference, she
pleaded not guilty. Pre-trail is set for September 28 at 9 a.m.

THAT’S A RAP!
A Cleveland man claims he shot a woman
on accident while both of them danced around
with a gun while listening to rapper Lil Pump on
August 27.
According to the affidavit, a Pawnee County
deputy was dispatched to a residence on 4900
Road shortly after 4 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When he arrived, he met with 18-year-old
Bear Matric Hallum, who claimed he didn’t
know where the weapon was. He told police
the victim and his cousin had been in the living
room listening to Lil Pump. He said the rapper
points firearms and puts them in his mouth.
Hallum said he heard the gun go off and his
cousin fled the residence. He found the victim
holding her throat.
Officers asked to search the home, but Hallum said no, because he wasn’t the homeowner. The homeowner was contacted,
and he gave police full consent. During the search, officers found three guns. One
was an unloaded 9 mm pistol that had blood smeared on the handle.
Multiple things about Hallum’s account of events didn’t make sense.
Hallum agreed to speak to investigators and admitted that he had lied about his
cousin being at the house. He said he and the victim spend the day listening to
Lil Pump and dancing with the loaded gun. Hallum told police he and the victim
each pulled the trigger multiple times.
At some point, Hallum was sitting on the couch with the gun. He said when he
stood up, the gun fired, and he saw the victim grab her throat. He ran to help her
and called 911.
When EMT personnel arrived, Hallum said he hid the gun in the vent.
During the investigation, the deputy was advised that the victim had lost the use
of both legs and possibly her arms due to the gun shot wound.
Hallum is being charged with feloniously pointing firearm, reckless conduct with
a firearm and obstructing officer. His bond was set at $500,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 25, 2018.

WCSO deputies took a report of mowing equipment being stolen from the 200 block of north
Hendricks St in Ochelata, on September 10 at
approximately 4:10 am. Below is a photo taken
from video footage of the suspect. The suspect is
described as a white male, approximately 6 feet
tall and 180 pounds. The unknown male has a tattoo on his left lower arm (possibly tribal art or a
snake, with some type of dot on the left hand).
The unknown male also appears to be wearing a
band on his right arm about his elbow area (appears to be a band worn by those with tennis elbow). Anyone with information as to the identity of
this unknown male is urged to call 918-332-4000,
918-338-4001 and ask for Sgt. Barkley. Information can also be sent via
private message to the WCSO Facebook page or by emailing kbarkley@

Police interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head

“He’s lying” was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button
each time they thought the suspect wasn’t telling the truth. Believing the
“lie detector” was working, the suspect confessed.

When two service station attendants refused to hand over the cash
to an intoxicated robber, the man threatened to call the police. They still
refused, so the robber called the police and was arrested.
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just
couldn’t control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each
man in the lineup to repeat the words, “Give me all your money or I’ll
shoot,” the man shouted, “That’s not what I said!”
In a small town of 1700, a student attempted to rob the local convenience store wearing his letterman’s jacket. He did not realize that he was
the only male named Dana in the whole town.

wanted to have her husband killed. She got 4-1/2 years in jail.
Mexico - A group of drug traffickers cleverly decided to use a propane
tanker to cross the border from Mexico to El Paso, Texas. They released
the propane and concealed it within the truck 6,240 pounds of marijuana. The men did not realize, however, that they had misspelled the name
of the gas company.
