Investigators need
help with cold case
Judith Elwell, 5, vanished from her parents’ northwest Oklahoma City home sometime before 9 p.m. July
6, 1967. One of her shoes was found the next day beside
an abandoned house half a block from the Elwell home,
leading police to theorize she lost the shoe while struggling with her kidnapper. No other trace of her turned up.
In the hours and days after her disappearance, hundreds of searchers swept across the area. Individual volunteers mingled with police, firefighters and Civil Air
Patrol workers, and a command post grew outside the
Elwell’s house. After three days the hunt was called off. At
some point over the past four decades, the police case file
was misplaced or destroyed.
Another little girl named Brenda White, 6, from Midwest City, went missing a month after Judith. Unfortunately, hunters found Brenda’s body in November 1967
about 11 miles east of her home in a shallow grave. Judith
has never been found. Police believe on person could be responsible for both disappearances,
as they happened so close together.
If you have any information on this case, please call your local police department or contact
Thiessen Detective Agency at 580-284-1616 or [email protected].

A traffic stop ended with felony charges for a Panama woman
Nov. 2.
Just after 11:30 p.m. Oct. 27, Poteau police officer Justin Adams
reported seeing a white Ford Ranger driving in and out of lanes
erratically. He tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, Taunya
Lynette Suter, 33, refused to stop until pulling into a driveway at
the 700 block of South Church.
Suter told Adams a false name but could not prove it because
she did not have a driver’s license, according to the affidavit. Also,
Suter reportedly could not keep still, had red bloodshot eyes and
was almost falling asleep standing up, Adams said.
When Adams arrested Suter on a DUI complaint, she started
shouting at the officer and repeatedly denied taking a Breathalyzer
test. She calmed down until she got into the booking area at the Poteau Police Department.
Once she arrived, she yelled, “I am not going there!” and ran from the scene.
Moreover, a check of Suter’s tattoos during booking revealed her real identity, as well as
her six city warrants and a felony warrant from Washington County, Ark. While she was in
jail, she repeatedly said she was having a miscarriage and accused Adams of assaulting her
and grabbing her private area.
Poteau police told Washington County officials of Suter’s arrest and the Arkansas officers
said they would extradite Suter.
Suter remains in custody. She will appear in court at 9 a.m. Nov. 20.

death row
Garry Thomas Allen:
Executed Nov. 6, 2012
Convicted murderer Garry Thomas Allen,
whose Oklahoma execution had been halted
three times while legal questions about his
mental health were debated, was put to death
by lethal injection Nov. 6, a state prison
spokesman said.
Allen, 56, killed the mother of his two children
on November 21, 1986, gunning her down in
front of daycare workers after she arrived to
pick up the couple’s 2- and 6-year-old sons.
Gail Titsworth, 24, had moved out of Thomas’
home four days earlier and rebuff ed his pleas
to return.
Allen was drunk and shot the woman four
times before a police offi cer found him in a nearby alley and shot him in the
face during a struggle over the offi cer’s gun.
Allen lost his left eye and sustained brain damage from the gunshot
wound, according to court testimony, but a jury found him competent to
stand trial.
Allen, who had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse and had been
hospitalized for psychological problems, insisted on entering a “blind” guilty
plea to murder, meaning the plea was entered without his knowing what his
punishment would be.
His plea was intended to spare the emotions of his family and the family of
the woman he killed, records show.
Allen was the fi fth inmate executed in Oklahoma this year and the 36th in
the United States. He was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m. local time at the
Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, said state prison spokesman
Jerry Massie.
Allen delivered a rambling and often unintelligible fi nal statement that
touched on the presidential election, including a prediction that “it’s going
to be a very close race,” Massie said.

A Kansas fugitive and ex-con was arrested on felony drug charges
in Poteau Oct. 29.
LeFlore County sheriff’s deputy Terry Springwater was on patrol in
Poteau when he saw a gray car without tags pull up to the Choctaw
Travel Plaza. Springwater recognized Michael Kelly, 24, from previous arrests. A check of his records showed two outstanding felony
warrants from Wichita, Kan., according to the affidavit.
Kelly and two others switched spots in the gray car and then left
toward Walmart, with Springwater in pursuit. The officer pulled him
over at the First National Bank and spoke to the driver, who said she
did not have a driver’s license.
The officers arrested Kelly for the warrants and placed him in the
patrol car. When Kelly was booked, he said he had a bag with him but refused to say what he
was carrying. Another deputy saw Kelly try to shake something out of his pants, according to
the affidavit.
Springwater returned to the patrol car to see Kelly dump a marijuana blunt and his stash
on the floorboard. The officer pulled up Kelly’s right pant leg and found a plastic bag with
methamphetamine inside. His right shoe had a piece of crumpled up notebook paper, which
hid three white prescription pills.
Kelly faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He spent nearly two years in prison in Kansas for possession of
narcotics and possession of hallucinogenic drugs, according to his rap sheet.
Kelly remains in custody on a $10,000 bond with a hold for the Kansas warrants.

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Today, I’m going to discuss who
has the biggest impact on our
new drivers that hit the road each
and every day. First, the Oklahoma Driver’s Education classes and
schools across the state are second to none, and do a fantastic job
of educating our young drivers on the law, and proper way to safely
operate a motor vehicle. I would like to point to some other folks, who
I believe have a far greater impact on how our youngsters approach
driving, and address them, and that is the adults who these young
drivers look up to: the parents, older siblings, and extended family.
If you fit in this category, please pay attention. I believe that our
kids learn their driving behavior not from the Oklahoma Highway
Patrol, other law enforcement, or driver’s education instructor, but
from you, the parents and family. I know I learned that way! Let me
give you some examples.
You are a dad, and for whatever reason, when you are driving in
town, or on a county road, you just don’t buckle up. Maybe its because
you don’t drive fast in these areas, or have a farm tag and just don’t
have to; however, you do buckle up when you get on highways or go
on long drives. The message you are sending is that when you are in
the vehicle there are certain times that it is ok not to wear your seat
belt. If dad doesn’t have to do it, I don’t either! In fact, at least 50%
of all accidents happen on county roads, and you are more likely to be
in an accident within 10 miles of your residence than otherwise. So
the real message you are sending is, don’t buckle up during the times
that you are most likely to need it!
Next, mom gets off work at 5:00, and one of the kids has a ball
game in another town at 5:30. She can get there if she speeds. After
all, it is important to get to those activities, and it won’t hurt to push
the speed just a little. The message you send to your kids is, its ok to
speed, as long as you can justify it! The facts are that unsafe speeds
kill more young people 16 to 25 than any other single thing! The
message here needs to be that its ok to slow down and show up a few
minutes late.....it is much better than the alternative, which is never
showing up at all because you’ve been involved in an accident.
Please remember, when you are driving, you are setting the example
for someone....and they are watching you all the time. What
message are
you sending? I hope it’s the one that says, I’ll lead by example
because I
love you, and want to do my part to keep you safe! Thanks for
reading,
buckle up, and be safe!

Oklahoma City: Dennis Newton was on trial for the
armed robbery of a convenience store in a district court
when he fi red his lawyer. Assistant district attorney
Larry Jones said Newton, 47, was doing a fair job of defending himself until the store manager testifi ed that
Newton was the robber. Newton jumped up, accused
the woman of lying and then said, “I should of blown
your (expletive) head off .” The defendant paused, then
quickly added, “if I’d been the one that was there.” The
jury took 20 minutes to convict Newton and recommended a 30 year sentence.
A motorist was unknowingly caught in an automated speed trap that measured his speed using radar and
photographed his car. He later received in the mail a
ticket for $40 and a photo of his car. Instead of payment, he sent the police department a photograph of
$40. Several days later, he received a letter from the
police that contained another picture... of handcuff s.
The motorist promptly sent the money for the fi ne.
A woman was reporting her car as stolen, and mentioned that there was a car phone in it. The policeman
taking the report called the phone and told the guy
that answered that he had read the ad in the newspaper and wanted to buy the car. They arranged to meet,
and the thief was arrested.
Drug Possession Defendant Christopher Jansen,
on trial in March in Pontiac, Michigan, said he had
been searched without a warrant. The prosecutor said
the offi cer didn’t need a warrant because a “bulge” in
Christopher’s jacket could have been a gun. Nonsense,
said Christopher, who happened to be wearing the
same jacket that day in court. He handed it over so the
judge could see it. The judge discovered a packet of
cocaine in the pocket and laughed so hard he required
a fi ve minute recess to compose himself.
Detroit: R.C. Gaitlan, 21, walked up to two patrol
offi cers who were showing their squad car computer
equipment to children in a Detroit neighborhood.
When he asked how the system worked, the offi cer
asked him for identifi cation. Gaitlan gave them his
drivers license, they entered it into the computer, and
moments later they arrested Gaitlan because information on the screen showed Gaitlan was wanted for a
two-year-old armed robbery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Deaths in crashes involving drunk drivers
with a blood alcohol
concentration (BAC) of
.08+ dropped in 2010,
but despite this decrease, there were still
10,228 lives lost – that’s
one person every 51
minutes. That makes it
everyone’s problem.
It seems that many people were doing their part to put a stop to
this completely preventable epidemic. Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s. Research also indicates
that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends Don’t Let
Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened to stop
someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90’s, alcohol-related driving deaths have
been steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was
very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many thought the messages to be targeted at overtly
drunk drivers, and not them. When decision time came, they would
consider themselves merely “buzzed” and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December 2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition
of the dangers of “buzzed” driving and subsequently, to motivate
people to stop driving buzzed. The next installment expands on this
message, equating buzzed driving and drunk driving and demonstrating the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of
buzzed driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate people that
consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed
Driving is Drunk Driving.

Two Red Oak men were taken into custody after deputies found
marijuana and a large amount of meth during a traffic stop.
Douglas Nixon, 22, was charged with felony possession of CDS
(meth) with intent to distribute, and David Montgomery, 51, was
charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), Oct. 29 in Latimer County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Deputy Gary Summers
was on a traffic stop with Montgomery after Summers saw him
swerve his pickup onto a lawn. During the stop, Summers found
a marijuana cigarette and was given permission to search the vehicle.
Summers asked the passenger, Nixon, to get out of the vehicle
during the search. As he was giving Nixon a pat-down, he found a
knife in Nixon’s left pocket. In his right pocket, Summers found a
small camouflage pouch wrapped in plastic and a small pill bottle.
He opened the bottle and found several small bags with a white
powder substance inside. He then checked the pouch and found
another bag with white powder inside that. When Summers asked
Nixon what the powder was, he claimed he didn’t know.
Summers field-tested the powder and it tested positive for meth.
Montgomery and Nixon were placed under arrest and transported to the Latimer County Jail and booked in on drug charges.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

What The Bible Says About Drugs
Respect the drug laws of the land – Finding specific
reference to drugs in the Word of God is difficult. However,
the effects from illegal drugs and abuse of prescription
medication is obviously against the law of man. It is illegal,
therefore, as Christians and citizens, we are to respect the
laws of the land. God has put people in government positions
to make choices for the better of mankind (remains to be
determined if man has done a good job or not).
Altering our minds – We also know that in several places
throughout the Bible we are warned of the foolishness of
altering our minds by way
of alcohol. In 1 Peter 2:11,
we are to abstain from
the passions of the flesh,
which wage war against our
soul. Therefore, anything
that causes us to destroy
ourselves, obviously should
be avoided. This could
be interpreted as drugs,
alcohol, sexual immorality,
gluttony, etc.

A McAlester man was arrested Nov. 7 following a stabbing at
the 600 block of South Oak.
McAlester police officer Keaton Alexander responded to a fight
call and saw a man with a stab wound in the lower abdomen.
Three witnesses said Ronnie Burks, 18, stabbed the victim.
While the victim was en route to the emergency room, Alexander listened to the three witnesses recount the incident. One of
the women said Burks knocked on the door and asked to speak to
the victim. Assuming the two were friends, she let them talk, but
after a couple of minutes they began fighting in the front yard,
she said.
One of the other witnesses grabbed the victim and pull him
away, just in time for him to miss a cinder block Burks threw
at him, he said. When the witness turned around, Burks pulled
out his knife to stab the victim, she said. Afterward, he tried to grab the cinder block, but the
victim hit Burks with a bat.
Burks faces a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody on
$100,000 bond and last appeared in court at 9 a.m. Nov. 16.
Burks previously pleaded guilty to assault in January and received a five-year deferred
sentence. In that case, he hit a man in the face with brass knuckles, breaking the man’s jaw
and requiring him to have a three-day hospital stay, according to court records. He also has
pleaded guilty to public intoxication twice this year.
His new charge spurred the state to file an application to accelerate his probation.

An ex-con was arrested on new drug charges on Oct. 30.
The day before, McAlester police officer Loyd London was
dispatched to the Family Dollar at 500 E. Carl Albert after
receiving a shoplifting report.
Another officer at the scene stopped Carl Holland, 23, from
stealing a purse from the store. Holland said he ran into the
store because he needed to talk to a woman and she gave him
her purse. While holding the purse, the officer said he saw
Holland put something inside of it.
Holland was arrested on a city warrant. A pat-down search
revealed a pocketknife and a silver metal screw top canister
with methamphetamine inside. Holland denied ownership
of the drugs at first, but he eventually let slip that he was hiding his meth use from his girlfriend, which explained why he
tried to leave the scene, according to the affidavit.
Holland has convictions of endeavoring to manufacture
methamphetamine and distribution of controlled substances on his record, as well as a plea
of no contest to a petty larceny charge. He received a four-year suspended sentence for the
drug convictions.
In his latest brush with the law, Holland was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of an electronic device in jail.
Holland has court set for 9 a.m. Nov. 29. He remains in custody on a $5,000 bond.

Tulsa Police arrested a Sand Springs man in the
early-morning hours of Nov. 9 after he allegedly
shoplifted from a QuikTrip store.
Jail records show Justin Levi Brimer, 24, was
arrested on complaints of driving under the influence, assault and battery on a police officer and endangering others while eluding police.
Justin Brimer stole a case of beer and some taquitos from the QT at I-244 and Sheridan at around 2
a.m, according to a report. As Brimer was fleeing
the scene in his truck, a Tulsa police officer pulled
into the store’s parking lot just the clerk went outside. The clerk pointed at the truck and the chase
was on.
Police officers caught up with him on I-244 and,
after a short chase, Brimer pulled his pickup truck over. The beer and food
were found in his truck.
After much ado, Brimer was taken to the Tulsa County Jail and booked.

What you’re saying
about this on...
PAULA E: Trust He Will Get His In Lockup Just
Put Him In Gen Pop O Boys Take Care Of Em
ANGIE W: Not only was there a naked toddler
outside in the cold, and another naked toddler
locked in a dog crate there was a naked toddler in
the bed with him!!
CARRIE J: Thank god there was an alert
neighbor to bring this situation to an end. Sick
bastard... Hope those babies are getting help
CAMIE L: he got off easy because if i was the
judge he would of got 10 years after he got the same
treatment he gave the dogs
CONNIE J: Freak
REGINA R: Lock him in the jail cell naked..
hmmm wonder what would happen to him?
JACK H: Anyone else think this guy looks like
Freddy Krueger?
DONNA T: grrrr ought to do the same to him....
crazy ppl
SHAWNA D: wow dam people r sick an crazy
these days.
ANGIE T: Sadly our system will probably fail
these children, many of these parents are slapped
on the wrist told to take a few classes then let go
freely. Then these children fall prey to the same
thing happening over and over. Oklahoma does not
take serious offenses seriously, too many kids are
abused and sent back to the parents who abused
them (foster and real). Then they end up seriously
injured or worse. His bond is set low for what he
did. Sadly unless some big changes happen they
won’t even throw a piece of paper at him...
Katie L: What a friggin piece of crap...what the
he’ll would possess him? That angers me. Praying
for those poor babies
Jimmy W: These children will die or have worse
done to them in dhs custody. It amazes me that
most people don’t know about this. Google where
Oklahoma is on the most abused children are in the
us. ...If u would like to help abused children you
can always go to genesiskids.com or your local dhs
office.
Michael W: I hate to stereotype a guy based on
his looks but HOLY HELL! He looks like a maniac
and he obviously is.
TERESA B: He should know better than to take
all those drugs with beer!!! Give me a friggin’ break.
I think it’s best the kids were taken from him. What
they were learning by watching him anyway? And
to put a child in a dog crate?????? And covered in
feces??? Jimmy...DHS or this man??? I bet they r
both in nice warm beds now.
TENA S: my heart breaks for those babies :(
as for him, I’d like to rip his out of his chest still
beating and shove it down his damn throat!!! It
sickens me how much I read of this almost daily!!
I could really rant on this one, but Im sure most of
you are thinking it already :D
WILLIAM L: if thats how yall think about
society then whatever. i just see the same
comments over and over again when things arent
really that bad. alot of people need help more than
death or jail. like yall aint ever done nothing wrong.
there is so much crap in this world no one knows
what to think anymore but the bad. just like this
stupid page. why not have follow ups on these
people to make a difference and actually see change
instead of hate. damn wife or girlfriend or whatever
probably drove him to it anyway.
GAYLENE C: There is a special place in h*ll for
people who abuse a child . Yes Oklahoma has a high
rate . Also don’t have enough people willing to do
foster care since the state doesn’t even pay enough
to cover the cost the child needs
William Lewallen, a 47-year-old Tulsa
man, was jailed Nov. 11 after police found
three unattended, naked children on his
property. One child was found locked in a
dog cage, covered with feces.
According to police, officers were
dispatched to Lewallen’s residence after
a neighbor heard the screams of a child
who had been stripped naked and locked
outside in the cold while the boy’s father
was passed out inside.
Investigators say officers arrived at the
residence and could immediately hear a
child screaming from inside the residence.
While looking for an open entrance
into the house, officers came upon an
18-month-old girl who was naked, covered
in feces and locked inside a dog cage.
When the officers kicked in the home’s
back door, they encountered a second
naked child inside who seemed to be
unattended. A further sweep of the house
revealed a third naked child who was
asleep on a bed in the master bedroom.
Officers also found Lewallen who was
passed out next to
the child.
During a police
i n t e r v i e w ,
Lewallen stated
that he fell asleep
after ingesting
a combination
of pain meds, a
muscle relaxer
and anti-seizure
medication.
“The screaming child in the dog kennel
did not wake the defendant nor did the
officers kicking the door down to rescue
the toddler in the dog cage,” stated a police
arrest affidavit.
Officers also noted in their report that the
home had no heat (it was about 40 degrees
that day) and there was little food in the
house to eat.
Lewallen was booked into jail and charged
with felony child neglect. His bond has
been set at $50,000.

The owner of a mobile home park and sales business in
Eufaula was arrested shortly after he allegedly pointed a
rifle at a utility worker who was trying to cut off his electricity.
Jeffrey Horner, 47, was charged with feloniously pointing a firearm Nov. 8 in McIntosh County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, Deputy Ronnie Ross
responded to a call that a man, later identified as Horner,
pointed a firearm at a utility worker. When he met with
the utility worker, the worker said he was at Mehan Valley
Mobile Homes to pull the electric meter or collect payment
on a utility bill. He was then confronted by Horner who
pointed a rifle at him and told him to leave the property.
The worker said he left the property and called the sheriff’s
department.
Horner denied pointing the rifle at the worker and added
he didn’t even have one. Ross asked to look through the residence and Horner gave his
consent. Soon Ross found a 22 caliber rifle hidden behind the washer and dryer. The rifle
matched the description of the one the worker described to Ross.
While Ross was searching Horner’s home, Horner went outside and told another deputy
that there was a firearm inside, but he didn’t point it at the worker.
Horner was transported to the sheriff’s department. Bond was set at $7500 and he was
ordered back to court Jan. 2.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at a Walmart
Nov. 5 after flashing his breast implants at fellow
shoppers before spitting blood at police.
Jeremy Owens, from Pennsylvania, was arrested
for his alleged bizarre behavior at the Lackawanna
County store.
Police found him on a local bus which he then
refused to get off.
After he was arrested and put into a police car,
Owens, who calls himself ‘Jamie’ banged his head
against the window and cut himself, which allowed
him to spit blood at officers.
The 23-year-old was jailed for aggravated
assault, drug possession, and making terrorist threats.
He was not charged for indecent exposure.
Owens was arrested two weeks ago for lying to police about the abduction of a friend
and previously in March following a disturbance at a doughnut shop when he allegedly
spat on two female customers.
