Arkoma man Dewey Edward Hundley, 29,
was arrested for suspicion of possession March
14 after Choctaw Nation Tribal police saw some
marijuana lying in plain sight in the bed of his
truck while he was at the casino.
According to the affidavit, a Choctaw Nation
officer was dispatched to the casino in Pocola
shortly after 6 a.m. When he arrived, a security officer showed him a truck that was in the
parking garage on the second level. In the bed
of the truck, officers saw a clear bag containing
a green leafy substance. Inside the truck, police could see a firearm
lying on the seat.
They met with the owner of the truck, identified as Hundley, and
asked him about the firearm.
Hundley said he wasn’t aware that firearms weren’t allowed on
federal land. He also told police he smokes marijuana, and that’s why
he “probably” smelled like it.
The officer and Hundley walked to his truck to get the firearm.
When Hundley opened the door, the officer immediately smelled
marijuana. The officer asked him about the smell. Hundley admitted
to smoking a joint in his truck earlier.
Hundley gave him consent to search the truck.
The officer grabbed the bag of weed in the truck bed. Hundley said
it wasn’t his, and he was being set up.
When the officer they had surveillance video of his truck and no
one placed anything in the truck, Hundley said he had let a friend
borrow the truck.
The officer continued to search the truck, and he found more bags
of marijuana, rolling papers and lots of pills.
Hundley admitted that the weed found inside the truck was his.
Hundley is being charged with possession of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of
drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 30, 2015.

FALSE INFORMATION TO A
POLICE OFFICER
PUBLIC INTOX
The Kansas Highway Patrol said it arrested a man for allegedly
driving up to 176 mph on Interstate 35 early on March 29.
Robert Bell was arrested after his car’s engine blew out.
He has been charged with speeding, failure to signal, fleeing and
eluding, impeding traffic, reckless driving, and an expired tag.
Bell was driving a Nissan Skyline GT-R, which was reportedly
used for racing. According to KHON-TV, a racing event was held in
Wichita over the weekend and some of the drivers, Bell among them,
were returning to Kansas City and impeding traffic on I-35.
The Kansas Highway Patrol and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies
pursued Bell’s car and also notified Osage County and Coffey County
authorities that they might need assistance in stopping the vehicle.
Bail was set at $100,000.

An Idabel man was arrested in Latimer
County because he allegedly went batsh!t
crazy and started smashing windows and
chopping up doors with an axe.
He also refused to calm down when an officer arrived on scene.
According to the affidavit, a Latimer
County deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 13300 block of SE 1101 Avenue
on March 18 at approximately 3:37 a.m. due
to a disturbance. The reporting party said a
man who was living in her home was acting
crazy, and he was smashing windows and chopping a door with an
axe.
When the officer arrived, he was immediately approached by the
man, identified as Joshua Dale Hull, 24. Hull was “very belligerent
and agitated and was obviously very intoxicated.”
The officer detained him, but when he tried to find out what was
going on, Hill threatened the officer and told him he was going to
“smoke” him.
Any time the officer asked someone a question, Hull would reply
with, “Find out!”
Hull was constantly screaming and yelling, and he told the officer
he had “shot up” some dope earlier and that’s why he was “feeling so
violent.”
He also smelled strongly of alcohol.
The reporting party showed the officer the damage that Hull did to
her house. She also said Hull had choked her.
The officer placed Hull under arrest.
He and a neighbor had to physically force the belligerent man into
the patrol car. Hull kept kicking the inside of the patrol vehicle and at
one point, he “kicked so hard that the entire vehicle shook violently.”
Once he got the man to jail, the officer was advised Hull also had a
warrant for his arrest out of Pittsburg County.
Hull is being charged with disturbing the peace and malicious injury to property under $1,000. His bond was set at $2,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on April 2, 2015.

An intoxicated Tupelo man had a few choice words for some officers who arrested him for
suspicion of domestic abuse.
Michael Floyd Hutcherson, 38, wound up in the drunk tank after doing a little too much
day drinking on March 21.
According to the affidavit, Tupelo police were dispatched to the 300 block of East Main
street for a possible domestic. When they arrived, they heard a man yelling. A visibly upset
woman answered the door.
The man who had been yelling was hiding out in a bedroom.
The woman said the man, identified as Hutcherson, had been drinking all day. He became
angry and threw her down on the floor while yelling at her, accusing her of cheating and
telling her to leave.
Police told Hutcherson to come out of the room. Eventually, the red-faced angry man exited the bedroom and
yelled, “ I didn’t do anything. This is my f------ house. I want them out of my f------ house.” He then said some stuff
to one of the officers, including calling him a “chicken s---.”
The officer placed the man in hand restraints so he could figure out what was going on.
Hutcherson then turned his anger toward the woman. He told her he loved her and called her a “sorry bitch.”
When an officer told Hutcherson to calm down, the man again released a string of profanities toward the officer.
He also spit at the officer’s feet.
Another woman who was at the home told police she had a video of the assault. The video clearly showed Hutcherson assaulting the woman.
An officer showed Hutcherson the video and asked him to identify the man assaulting the woman. He replied,
“Yeah, mother f----, that’s me.”
When an officer told him he was under arrest for domestic abuse, Hutcherson unleashed another string of offensive (but creative) profanities.
Police took Hutcherson to jail, but he continued his rampage. He grunted and growled at a dispatcher and complained about the handcuffs being too tight.
When an officer took him to a drunk tank and told him how he was going to remove the handcuffs, Hutcherson
said, “I know, I know, mother f-----. This ain’t my first rodeo, I ain’t no bitch.”
Hutcherson is being charged with domestic abuse assault and battery. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on June 5, 2015.

Boswell man Jamie Dewayne Pendergrass, 41, and two others were arrested March 20 after an officer found Pendergrass
lying underneath a man’s truck.
According to the police report, a man called the police department around 1:30 p.m. and told an officer Pendergrass
was “up under his vehicle” in the 300 block of North Street,
and refused refused to come out.
When the officer arrived, he asked Pendergrass why he was
under the man’s truck -- Pendergrass said he was just lying
there. He denied using drugs, but the officer thought otherwise due to the man’s behavior.
He asked Pendergrass if anyone else was with him. Pendergrass said his wife, 34-year-old Melissa Pendergrass, and his
friend, 32-year-old John Duncan Stubbs were. He told the
officer “they drove off after all of this.”
Pendergrass then told the officer he needed an ambulance.
About that time, a silver car “slid” around the corner from
N. Fourth onto N. Street without using a turn signal. Realizing Pendergrass’s accomplices were in the car, the officer
stopped the vehicle. Both Melissa Pendergrass and Stubbs
also appeared to be under the influence of drugs, but no one
would tell the officer what they had been using.
Stubbs admitted there was a pipe in the console of the car,
and he gave officers permission to search the vehicle. Police
found a couple more pipes, a bag containing a white crystal
substance that tested positive for meth and a bag full of synthetic marijuana. Stubbs told police the drugs and paraphernalia were his.
The trio was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
Police still don’t know why Pendergrass decided it would be
a good idea to crawl up under a man’s truck.
Jamie and Melissa Pendergrass pled guilty to the charge of
public intoxication, and they are both scheduled to appear in
court on June 24, 2015.
Stubbs is being charged with two counts of possession of
controlled dangerous substance, driving a motor vehicle
while under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of
drug paraphernalia and failure to signal on turning. He was
released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on April 28, 2015.

Sexual abuse affects
both boys and girls of
all ages, in all kinds of
neighborhoods and communities. Children are
more likely to be sexually abused by someone
they know and trust than
by a stranger. Abusers do
not always use physical
force. Many use games,
gifts, lies, or threats to engage children and to keep
them from telling anyone
what has happened.
Signs of Possible Sexual
Abuse
The following may indicate sexual abuse and should not be ignored:
• Unexplained pain, itching, redness, or bleeding in the genital area
• Increased nightmares or bedwetting
• Withdrawn behavior or appearing to be in a trance
• Angry outbursts or sudden mood swings
• Loss of appetite or difficulty swallowing
• Anxiety or depression
• Sudden, unexplained avoidance of certain people or places
Sexual knowledge, language, or behavior that is unusual for the
child’s age

A Finley man got himself arrested when
he made an officer suspicious by immediately telling him he didn’t break into anything.
Donald D. Thompson, 31, obviously didn’t
think his words through when an officer approached him in the early morning hours of
March 18.
An Antlers officer saw Thompson ride a
bike out on an apartment complex on Southeast Third Street shortly after 2 a.m. He got
out of his patrol car and approached the
man.
According to the affidavit, Thompson told the officer, “I’m not doing anything wrong. I just want to go home. I didn’t break into anything.”
The officer asked him which apartment he had come out of. He said
“a friend’s.”
The officer asked him to step to the front of his patrol car so they
could talk. Thompson said, “No, I’m not going to.”
The officer then asked him if he had any weapons. Thompson told
the officer he just had a little bit of marijuana in his cigarette package
and a knife in his pocket.
The officer retrieved the items, and he found a green leafy substance and rolling papers in the cigarette pack. Since the amount of
weed was small, the officer started to write Thompson a ticket -- but
then dispatch advised he had a warrant for his arrest for possession
of marijuana.
The officer told the man he was under arrest, but Thompson took
off running. The officer grabbed him and told him to stop resisting. A
struggle ensued, but the officer was able to get handcuffs on the man
and place him in the patrol car.
He then transported Thompson to jail.
Thompson is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and resisting an officer. He was released on an $8,000
bond and is scheduled to appear on court on April 8, 2015.

A Krebs man who allegedly hit a pedestrian with his
truck’s side mirror said he thought it was OK that he
left the scene of the accident because the victim told
him to leave.
He thought wrong.
According to the affidavit, Krebs officers were dispatched to Electric Avenue and Cleveland Street on
March 25 at approximately 8:58 p.m. for an accident
involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
When they arrived, they found an unoccupied white
truck in the ditch north of Electric Avenue.
A woman at the scene and a man who was with her
told the officer they were walking down Electric Avenue when a white truck drove past her and hit her with the side mirror. She said
the truck stopped and a man, later identified as Danny Paul McKinney, 54, asked
her if she was OK. He then said, “I’m going to get fired!”
While they were speaking, the victim said she saw the truck roll into the ditch.
The victim said McKinney then started to approach her, and she told him to get
away from her.
She said McKinney then tried to get the truck out of the ditch. When that didn’t
work, he took off running north on Cleveland Street.
Police searched the area for McKinney. Someone called and told an officer that
he had been flagged down by a male who asked him for a ride to work.
Police found McKinney at his workplace; he had slurred speech and bloodshot
eyes. He told police he had been in a hurry to get back to work when the accident
happened, because he was on his lunch break and he didn’t want to get fired. He
said the victim told him he could leave.
Police asked him if he had been drinking. He said he washed his mouth out with
mouthwash after eating a sandwich.
McKinney told an officer he didn’t know that he could be in trouble for leaving
the scene. He said he thought it would be OK to leave since the victim told him
him to, and he was planning on returning the next day to get his truck.
McKinney was transported and booked into jail.
McKinney is being charged with leaving scene of accident involving injury and
driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Oklahoma Highway

With this most recent ice
and snow storm that gripped
Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant obstacles
to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t really
get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by
iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to
touch on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about
it, and give some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with
just a small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver
could see the road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law
that governs this is Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C,
which states: “No person shall drive any motor vehicle with
any sign, poster, other non-transparent material, or debris,
including but not limited to snow, ice, or frost upon the front
windshield or the side wings, or side or rear windows......
which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the driver’s clear view
of the highway ahead or to either side or of any intersecting
highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is that the
little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously
the chances of an accident drastically increase as visibility
decreases...so why limit our vision to just a small hole out
the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has
been the preferred method for as long as most people can
remember. They are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another
method is simply to go out 10 minutes before you leave, start
your car up, and get the defroster going! When the windows
are clear, you are good to go. Still another way is to obtain
any number of chemical de-icing sprays that are available at
most stores. Don’t pour hot water on your windows, as the
change in temperatures can cause your window to crack or
break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about
those side and rear widows. A significant percentage of
accidents happen while backing, so it stands to reason that
we need to be able to see out our back glass as well as the
front. Side windows are no different, no one wants to be
struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they pull into an
intersection. After you finish with those side windows, go
ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time,
and sometimes money, but the time and money pale in
comparison to the impact on time and money that an
accident will have on you, or others. As a safe, courteous
driver, you owe it to yourself and your fellow drivers! Thanks
for reading, buckle up and be safe!

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Carrell (NUNN)
A Bokoshe woman caught driving
a stolen vehicle gave an officer the
name of the man who let her borrow
it -- problem was, no one knew who he
was!
On March 17, a Stigler police officer
was on patrol in the area of SE C Street
at approximately 12:39 a.m. when he
suddenly saw the lights of a vehicle
come on that had apparently been sitting in the middle of the road. The vehicle then started to move forward.
The officer stopped the vehicle and
noticed it had a decal of a local business on the side. The driver was 41-year-old Wilene Marshel Carrell.
Wile said she had stopped the vehicle, because it was overheating
and she didn’t want to ruin the engine. When the officer asked her
why she was driving the company’s truck, she told him it was loaned
to her so she could move.
According to the affidavit, the owner of the business told the officer
he hadn’t loaned the vehicle to anyone. When the officer asked her
who loaned her the vehicle, she told him a name, but the business
owner said there wasn’t a man with that name who worked for him.
There was a man who worked for him with the same last name, but
he told the officer he didn’t know Carrell and he didn’t give anyone
permission to use the truck.
Carrell told the officer that man wasn’t the person who loaned her
the truck.
Since no one could figure out who loaned Carrell the truck, the officer placed her under arrest and took her to jail.
Carrell is being charged with larceny of automobile, driver’s license
to be carried and improper stopping. Her bond was set at $50,000,
and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 7, 2015.

A Bokchito man found himself in a world of trouble
after he admitted to being involved in numerous burglaries in Bryan County.
According to the affidavit, Klay Coffman was arrested March 14 for the burglary of a residence on Hoover
Road.
On March 16, Coffman agreed to speak to the deputy
about other burglaries that had taken place. He said
he was at the residence on Hoover Road, because the
homeowner owed him money due to meth and marijuana he left at the residence. He said he was invited
into the home by the homeowner.
Coffman also admitted to being involved in a burglary at a residence in the
1600 block of Pirtle Road in Blue. He said a friend called him and told him he was
at a nice house and “had some items that would help put some money in [their]
pockets.” He said when he arrived at the residence, the man and his girlfriend
were standing next to an ATV that was loaded onto a trailer. There were also several firearms next to the trailer.
Coffman said he knew it was a burglary, but he needed the money, so he hooked
the trailer up to his truck and put the firearms in his backseat. He said he took the
stuff to a residence on Third Street in Durant.
The last burglary Coffman admitted to happened in the 300 block of Redbird
Hollow in Blue. He said it was at his neighbor’s house. The same friend who he
had committed the other burglary with asked him if he knew if his neighbor had
anything good in his house.
Coffman said he told the man to leave his neighbor’s house alone and took a
shower. When he got out, his friend said he had “found some items worth taking”
at his neighbor’s house.
Coffman said he let the man use his truck to load up the stolen items, and he
covered the tire tracks from his house to the neighbor’s.
Coffman agreed to show police where the stolen ATV was being kept.
Coffman is being charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and two
counts of knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $12,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 1, 2015.

The OSBI was requested to assist the Pottawatomie County District Attorney’s Office in the homicide investigation of Samantha Weaver, who
has been missing since June 2012.
The DA’s Office recently received information
that Weaver was buried in a clandestine grave in
rural Pottawatomie County, outside of Shawnee,
Oklahoma.
In November 2014, the OSBI added a new
“crime-fighting tool” to its arsenal, a groundpenetrating radar. The ground-penetrating radar
was utilized in this case and aided in finding human remains, buried in a clandestine grave.
This search and recovery has been a collaborative effort between personnel
from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, Shawnee Police Department, Pottawatomie County District Attorney’s Office, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, University of Oklahoma Forensic Archaeology Department, and the OSBI.
The OSBI aims to stay a pioneer in law enforcement in the State of Oklahoma
and is pleased to be able to offer this technology (ground-penetrating radar) to
law enforcement, in the pursuit of justice.

A 26-year old Cushing resident who flagged down police is probably wishing he hadn’t.
Thomas Plummer flagged down two Cushing police
officers as they made their rounds near 2nd and Steele
Street early March 15th morning.
The officers ran Plummer’s name and found that he
had four outstanding warrants in Payne County.
When they tried to arrest him, police say Plummer
raised his hands above his head as he backed away and
told them, “I gotta show you something.”
The officers grabbed Plummer’s arms and secured
them.
When asked what he wanted to show them, Plummer told the officers that he
had a gun in his jacket pocket.
A search revealed a loaded revolver containing three live 9mm rounds, a folding
knife with brass knuckles, and a homemade glass smoking pipe that contained a
chalky residue. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
The entire incident happened less than 500 feet from a park.
Plummer was arrested and taken to the Cushing Police Department, where he
was held on a complaint of possession of a controlled dangerous substance within
1000 feet of a park, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm
while in the commission of a felony, possession of metal knuckles, along with the
four outstanding Payne County warrants.

The Coal County man wanted by authorities for murdering his
brother died during a pursuit with law enforcement on March 20.
The Coal County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI assistance in the
homicide of 39-year-old Naman Wade Vick. Deputies found him dead
of a gunshot wound inside the home he and his brother shared at 1690
C.R. 1750.
OSBI agents gathered information that Naman’s brother committed
the murder. A first degree murder warrant was issued and a search
ensued for Tyrel Wes Vick, 34. Law enforcement officers from every
county surrounding Coal County as well as state officers and U.S. Marshals saturated the area.
That evening Vick was spotted driving his murdered brother’s 1991
maroon Ford stepside pickup truck. Officers gave chase until Vick
crashed the vehicle at Highway 31B near Onley where he fired a gun at officers. Officers returned
fire. Vick died at the scene.
The medical examiner will determine his cause of death. OSBI will continue to work the homicide
case and deliver a report to the district attorney.

A wanted Idabel man who tried to make a getaway on a four
wheeler found himself up a creek without a paddle when he
drove his ATV into a puddle.
Darrell Patrick Williston II, 35, didn’t succeed in getting away
from police and he was arrested for his warrants, among other
things, on March 21.
According to the affidavit, McCurtain County deputies went
to a residence on Saint Marks Loop around 9:34 p.m to look for
a vehicle used in a hit and run. They were also advised that a
man at the house had felony warrants.
As they neared the residence, they saw a man leave the residence on a four wheeler. He pulled out right in front of the patrol vehicle, and he didn’t turn his headlights on.
Police activated their emergency lights, but the driver, identified as Williston, just kept on going. He headed south on Marshall Hill Road “at a high rate of
speed” and kept looking back at the deputies.
The chase continued onto Lime Rock Road, where there was “about a foot to a foot and a
half of standing water.”
The four wheeler and patrol vehicle slowed down due to the mud and the water. A deputy
hit the brakes on the patrol vehicle, and he slid into Williston’s four wheeler. Williston then
jumped off the four wheeler and took off running, but he fell into some water near the back.
The deputy ordered him to stay on the ground, but Williston tried to get back up. The deputy pushed him to the ground in an attempt to place him in handcuffs. Williston then started
biting the deputy, and he ignored commands to stop.
Another officer arrived to help, and the man was placed in handcuffs.
Despite being in shallow water with his head on the bank, Williston told the deputy he was
drowning him. Williston also said he wasn’t trying to fight or run, and he didn’t even know
that the deputies had been driving behind him.
Williston is being charged with assault and battery on police officer, eluding/attempting to
elude police officer and operating prohibited vehicle on street/ highway. He was released on
a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 9, 2015.

Stringtown woman Draven Kennedy,
19, allegedly broke into a woman’s motel
room and took her debit card and used
her toenail clippers. She was arrested
March 19 after officers found drugs in
her room.
An Atoka officer was dispatched to
a local motel to shortly after 11 a.m. to
speak with a woman about a stolen debit
card. The woman told him that sometime last night while she was sleeping,
Kennedy sneaked into her room and
took her debit card from her purse.
The woman said she woke up and saw
Kennedy sitting on her couch using her toenail clippers.
When she asked Kennedy how she got in her room, Kennedy told
her she left her keys in the door.
The woman said Kennedy lived down the hall.
The officer went to Kennedy’s room and found three people, including the suspect. While he was in the room, he saw a straw with a
powdery residue and an insulin needle.
The officer asked for consent to search, but Kennedy said no.
When he told her he had enough information to get a search warrant, she reluctantly gave him permission to search the room.
He found two syringes filled with a clear liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine and a baggy containing a white powdery
substance and a pill.
Kennedy admitted to the officer that the drugs and needles belonged to her.
She was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
Kennedy is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance. Her bond was set at $11,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 1, 2015.

Due to technical difficulties we are unable to include
McIntosh County arrest photos this month. We are including the names and charges but the photos were unavailable as of press time. Sorry for th inconvenience.
OK Jailbirds staff.
An alleged fishin’ pole thief named Jody Dean Brown, 45, couldn’t seem to
keep his hands off other people’s poles while fishing in December.
The Wagoner man was arrested March 21 after video caught him stealing the
equipment.
According to the affidavit, a Eufaula officer was dispatched to the Eufaula Marina fishing dock because video surveillance caught Brown stealing four fishing
poles from an unsuspecting fisherman.
The officer viewed the surveillance video, and he saw Brown arrive with one
pole and leave with five.
Both the victim and Brown were at the dock. The victim pointed out Brown
to the officer.
The alleged robbery took place on December 14, 2014, but Brown told the officer he didn’t remember “anything about taking anyone’s fishing poles around”
that date.
Unfortunately for Brown, he was also a wanted man -- dispatch advised the
officer he had two warrants out of Wagoner County.
When the officer told Brown he was under arrest for the warrants, the man
threw down his fishing pole and tried to walk away.
The officer grabbed his arm and placed him under arrest.
Brown’s wife agreed to go home and get the stolen property. She later returned the fishing poles to the victim -- he told the officer all four fishing poles
were his, and that he wanted to press charges for the theft.
Brown is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property. He was
released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 20, 2015.
