A Poteau man complained to an officer that he always gets
caught after he uses meth when he was arrested for public intoxication on July 16.
Well maybe you should stop using!
According to the police report, a Poteau police officer was patrolling on N. Broadway and Wilson Street when he saw a man
“strutting” and walking with a “fast pace” north on Grace Street
at approximately 11:40 p.m. He drove up to the man, but when
the man saw the officer, he tried to walk away.
The officer immediately recognized the struttin’ man as 26-year-old Phillip
Lynn Holt Jr. due to previous encounters.
Holt was sweating profusely and couldn’t seem to stop moving. The officer
asked him if he had taken any kind of drug. Holt told him he had used methamphetamine Thursday – he then said he last used on Wednesday.
Holt was holding a cellphone in his hand, but for some reason, he threw it on
the ground. He continued to pace and look around while the officer was checking
his information.
While the officer was checking the man for warrants, Holt started tensing up
and cussing. He eventually calmed down, but when the officer asked him if he was
still feeling the effects of the meth, he became angry again and said no.
The officer asked Holt if he drew his blood, if there would be meth in his system. Holt said yes. The officer placed the man under arrest and took him to jail.
On the way to the slammer, Holt continued to get angry, then calm back down.
He told the officer that he always gets caught when he uses.
When they got to jail, Holt begged the officer for some water. Holt chugged
the water, then started jumping around and told the officer he was feeling “way”
better now.
Holt is being charged with public intoxication. His bond was set at $2,000, and
he was scheduled to appear in court on July 27, 2015.
Better now

A high Wilburton man was arrested in
McIntosh County after he was caught prowlin’ around some houses and lyin’ to an officer on July 19.
He claimed the drugs made him do it.
According to the affidavit, a Latimer
County deputy was dispatched to the 3300
block of SE Cravens shortly after 2 a.m. due
to a prowler. He was advised the suspect assaulted a homeowner and ran toward Lutie
#5.
The deputy made contact with a man who said his name was Davey
and he was 17 years old. “Davey’s” pupils were dilated, and he was
very talkative and excited. He told the deputy some weird stuff and
had repetitive speech.
As if the already mentioned symptoms weren’t enough, “Davey”
was unable to stand still and he kept scratching all over his body. The
deputy placed him under arrest and transported him to jail.
The man later told the deputy his real name was Brandon Scott
Clark, and he revealed his correct information.
News flash: He wasn’t 17. He was actually 23.
The next day, the deputy spoke with Clark and asked him why he
lied about who he was. Clark said he had had some incense (synthetic marijuana) and he was messed up. He claimed he didn’t remember
anything from the night before.
Clark is being charged with public intoxication and obstructing
an officer. He was released on a personal recognizance bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on August 6, 2015.

A Boswell man flipped out after a gas station didn’t give
him the correct amount of gas on July 21.
Cody Lee Barnes, 25, led a Boswell police officer on a
chase through town because he said he didn’t get the right
amount of gas. According to the police report, a Boswell
police officer tried to stop Barnes’s vehicle when he saw the
man accelerating rapidly on N. Third shortly after 4 p.m.
Barnes didn’t stop. Instead, he kept on going, speeding
through town and almost hitting some kids who were riding their bikes.
The man eventually turned into a driveway in the 400
block on Valliant, nearly losing control of his vehicle. There
he stepped out of his car and lit a cigarette.
The officer told him to get on the ground. Barnes obeyed,
but after the officer placed him in handcuffs, he asked,
“Why the f--- are you messing with me?”
The officer told him it was because of his reckless driving.
Barnes replied, “Those mother f------ at the gas station think I am made of money. I paid
for $4 in gas, and they only gave me 40 cents.”
The officer put the man in the patrol vehicle and searched his car. He found some pills.
Barnes told him that were muscle relaxers that his grandfather had given him.
The officer also found a machete near the driver’s seat.
Barnes yelled at the officer and told him he was going to “whip” his ass. He also told the
officer he was illegally arresting him.
The officer then went back to the gas station to see what Barnes’ fuss was about. The employee said Barnes came into the store and asked for some gas. The system was new, and
the employee said Barnes didn’t get the full amount of gas that he paid for. That seemed to
piss Barnes off, and the employee said the man went crazy. He threw two gas nozzles on the
ground and spun his tires when he pulled out of the parking lot, almost hitting another car.
Barnes is being charged with reckless driving, eluding/attempting to elude police officer
and unlawful possession of controlled dangerous substance without a prescription. He was
released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2015.

Never let Hartshorne man Lenard Ray Bond, 21,
spend the night at your house. If you refuse to let him
borrow your vehicle, he might just steal it!
That’s what one man told an officer, anyways, when
he found his vehicle was missing on July 21. He was
suspicious because his houseguest, Bond, was also
MIA.
According to the affidavit, a McAlester police officer
was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1200
block of E. Pierce at 3:30 p.m. due to an authorized
use of a motor vehicle. The victim told the officer his
friend, identified as Bond, came to his home and said
he needed a place to stay. The victim said he had only known the man for about a
month, but he let him stay the night.
Around noon, the victim said Bond asked if he could borrow the man’s truck.
The victim said no and laid down to take a nap. When he woke up a couple house
later, his truck was gone – and so was Bond.
He called the man, and Bond said he was headed to Sardis Lake. He never returned the victim’s truck. But, his truck was soon located early the next morning
in a wreck in Bache.
The victim’s truck had a lot of damage and some of his property was missing
from the vehicle.
Bond was already in jail for outstanding warrants, and the victim said he wanted to press charges.
Bond is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. His bond was set at
$5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2015.
Some friend you are!

Clayton man Joshua Cranford, 32, led
police on a vehicle pursuit and took off
running when he crashed his truck, but
when officers eventually apprehended
him, he said, “Well, you got me boys!”
According to the affidavit, a Clayton
officer was on patrol in the 200 block of
Chickasaw, when he saw Clayton’s truck
driving southbound on Fifth shortly after 1 a.m. The man didn’t stop for a stop
sign, and after he drove past the officer,
he accelerated and took off driving at a
high rate of speed.
Of course, the officer pursued Clayton.
Clayton led the officer onto State Highway 2. At one point, he
turned off his head and taillights, but the officer never lost sight of
his vehicle.
Apparently Cranford couldn’t handle driving at such high rates of
speed, because he flew off the highway and ran into a ditch. He didn’t
let that stop him, though. Cranford then took off running.
The officer called for backup and looked in Cranford’s truck. He
found a container in the driver’s floorboard containing a crystal-like
substance, which later tested positive for meth.
As the officer was finishing an inventory of the man’s vehicle, another officer approached the scene.
Guess who was with him? Yep, it was Cranford.
The officer had Cranford had gunpoint because the man refused to
show his hands. After officers placed the man in handcuffs, Cranford
said, “Well, you got me this time boys. Ain’t no sense in lying about
it. I was driving.”
Cranford is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance, eluding/attempting to elude police officer, driving with
license canceled/suspended/revoked, obstructing officer and failure
to stop for yield sign. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 12, 2015.
Well, you got me boys!

A trio was locked up July 11 when police discovered they
weren’t at the lake just to fish.
According to the affidavit, a game warden made contact with
Spiro man Robert Lee Gard, 23, at approximately 3:45 p.m.
When he asked the man if he had a fishing license, Gard replied no, that he didn’t need one.
The game warden informed him that he definitely needed a
license.
While they were talking, the warden noticed a blanket on the
bank of the river. On the blanket was a a glass pipe. Gard said
the pipe belonged to his friend, 22-year-old James F. Dighton
of Heavener. He said Dighton and Howe woman Jenna Lee
Stites, 19, went to the store to get ice.
The warden asked Gard to go to his car and get his license.
Gard said he didn’t remember where he parked.
They went to a several parking lots, but they couldn’t find
the man’s car. Gard and the warden went to the dam parking
lot to wait for a deputy to arrive. They soon found the missing
friends.
Dighton admitted the pipe found on the blanker was his.
When police asked the man if there was more marijuana in
the vehicle, he said that there was.
Dighton said the only marijuana left in the vehicle was a
small amount of burnt residue in the arm rest, but the warden
saw a small bag of weed lying in the passenger floorboard.
When police searched the vehicle, they found more paraphernalia and residue.
The men were placed under arrest.
Stites was also arrested after police found a pipe in a pair of
women’s shorts wrapped up in a blanket.
Stites is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 31, 2015.
Dighton is being charged with two counts of possession of
controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia, obstructing officer and fishing without a license. His bond was set at $15,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 15, 2015.
Gard is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance,
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and fishing without a license. His bond was set at

An Atoka couple was arrested at a checkpoint
in Coal County on July 19 because they reeked of
booze and they had liquor in their truck.
According to the police report, Coal County
deputies were conducting a checkpoint at the intersection of County Road 1780 and 3810 when
25-year-old Bradley Don Reed and his passenger, Ollie Donnett Dandridge, 26, pulled up
shortly after midnight.
The checkpoint was apparently made for people like Reed and Dandridge, because when a
deputy approached the truck, he was immediately greeted by an overwhelming smell of alcohol.
The deputy asked Reed for his driver’s license.
Reed told him he didn’t have one because it was
suspended.
Strike 1!
Police asked Dandridge to step out of the truck
for a standard field sobriety test – she failed. A
deputy then asked Reed to exit the truck for a sobriety test – he also
failed.
Strike 2!
Both Reed and Dandridge were placed under arrest. Officers inventoried the couple’s vehicle before they took them to jail. They
found a Mountain Dew bottle filled with a brown liquid that smelled
like alcohol.
Strike 3!
The couple was transported and booked into jail.
Dandridge pled guilty to the charges of public intoxication. Reed
is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second and subsequent, and driving with license
canceled/suspended/revoked. He was released on a $6,000 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on August 6, 2015.

An Irving, Texas, woman was arrested in Durant
on July 20 after police found her stumbling around
the 4000 block of Choctaw Road. A Durant officer
was advised that the woman had been there for
most of the day.
When the officer arrived shortly after 4 p.m., he
spoke to another officer who said he found 39-yearold Katherine Mechelle Wilson passed out in her vehicle. When the woman woke up, she refused medics, and she seemed to be disoriented.
The officer noticed the woman was now walking
around and asking people for a lighter. When he
asked her what she was up to, she told him that she
just got really hot, and she was waiting on someone
to pick her up.
The officer asked if she would take sobriety tests.
She told him she had multiple injuries, but she would try. She kept telling the
officer the sun was too bright, and she couldn’t stop swaying back and forth.
The officer noticed Wilson was carrying a black bag. She set it in the passenger
seat of the car while she was speaking to him. The officer asked her if there was
anything illegal in the car, and if he could check. She said, “Well, I don’t know. I
don’t want anything to get torn up.”
When the officer told her he wouldn’t hurt anything, she said, “OK.”
She tried to grab the bag, but he told her to sit down on the curb.
The purse was open, and the officer saw a sunglasses case sitting on top. According to the police report, he knew that people sometimes hid illegal items in
sunglasses cases.
The officer grabbed the case and opened it up. Inside was a pair of glasses and
a small cellophane baggy containing a crystal-like substance. He also found a
syringe in a wallet that was in the bag.
Wilson said she wasn’t sure about the sunglasses case because she got that
from a friend, but she had the syringe because she was diabetic.
The officer asked her where her insulin was – she told him she didn’t take insulin.
The officer placed the woman under arrest.
Wilson is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and
public intoxication. She was released on a personal recognizance bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2015.

Kiowa man Jace Blain Rice, 31, was
arrested July 23 after he tried (and
failed) to outrun officers during an attempted traffic stop.
According to the affidavit, an Atoka
police officer was on patrol when he
saw Rice’s vehicle flying southbound
on US Highway 69 around 4:50 p.m.
The officer sped up to catch up to the
truck, which was traveling at approximately 90 mph.
The officer turned on his lights in an
attempt to stop Rice’s truck, but the
man just kept on trucking. The officer
then turned on his sirens. Rice started
waving his arm out of his window, and he came to a stop in the 200
block of N. Highway 60. He “crawled halfway” out of the driver’s side
window and started yelling, but the officer couldn’t understand what
the man was saying.
Before the officer could even get out of his patrol car, Rice was off
again!
Police chased after the man, but Rice seemed determined to get
away. He weaved in and out of traffic and caused other vehicles to
have to swerve to get out of his way. Officers cornered the Rice, but
he made a last minute turn into the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in the 100 block of N. Mississippi.
Police surrounded his vehicle.
Rice refused to get out of his car willingly, but officers helped him
with that. The man was soon placed in cuffs and transported to jail.
Officers were advised the man had a warrant for his arrest.
During inventory of the man’s vehicle, police found an open bottle
of beer and an open bottle of whiskey.
Rice is being charged with eluding a police officer, resisting an
officer, two counts of transporting an opened container of alcohol,
speeding 16-20 mph over, changing lanes unsafely and unsafely
turning into driveway. His bond was set at $100,000.

Coweta man Bocephus Dustin Beeson, 28,
allegedly exposed himself and shook his junk
at some EMS ladies when they came to check
on his wellbeing on July 23.
He might have been OK, but those women
are probably going to need some help!
According to the police report, a McIntosh deputy was dispatched to a convenience
store on Highway 69 at 4:30 a.m. because
there was a man chasing trucks and yelling
in the parking lot.
When the officer arrived, he found Beeson
standing on the running board of a truck – the driver of the vehicle
had rolled up the window on the man’s arm.
The officer walked toward Beeson, and the man started shaking. He
said he had seizures. The officer called EMS to come check the man
out.
Beeson kept going through a crazy cycle. One minute, he was calm.
The next, he was belligerent and yelling at everything.
When EMS arrived, Beeson climbed into the back of the truck the
officer found him standing on. He then climbed on top of the truck
cab.
The deputy told him to get down, but he refused. He flipped everyone off and at one point, he dropped his drawers, grabbed his junk,
and shook his stuff at the deputy and EMS ladies.
The deputy took out his Taser and ordered the half naked man to
pull up his pants and get off the truck.
Beeson must have been concerned about little Beeson, because he
finally obeyed the officer and climbed down from the vehicle.
When they arrived at the jail, he continued to be aggressive toward
officers. He eventually calmed down after he was hit with a taser on
his arm.
Beeson is being charged with indecent exposure. His bond was set
at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 24, 2015.

HANKINS
A Broken Bow man borrowed a man’s bike, never returned it, and
allegedly sold it to a woman at a local motel for a few bucks. Needless
to say, the bike owner wasn’t happy, and 45-year-old Michael Ray
Hankins ended up in jail.
On July 18, a Broken Bow police officer was contacted by a man
who was missing his bicycle. The officer went to his home in the 100
block of Campbell to investigate. The man told the officer that on
July 15 or July 16, Hankins came to his residence and asked if he
could borrow his bike to “run to the house.” The victim gave Hankins permission, but
he said he told the man to bring it right back.
According to the police report, Hankins didn’t bring it right back. Two or three days
later, and the victim’s bike was still missing. He gave the officer a description of his
two-wheeled contraption that Hankins allegedly stole, and said it was valued at $140.
The officer soon spotted the bike sitting outside of a room at a local motel. He made
contact with a woman who told him Hankins sold her the bicycle for $25. When the
officer informed her the bike belonged to someone else, she told him she didn’t know
it was stolen.
The officer returned the bike to its rightful owner, and he transported Hankins to
jail.
Hankins is being charged with petit larceny. His bond was set at $250.
