Arkoma man Michael Lynn Cox, 57, was taken to jail
after police conducted a search of his home on January
27.
According to the affidavit, agents with the Oklahoma
Bureau of Narcotics and area police conducted a search
warrant at Cox’s home in the 700 block of Main Street
in Arkoma, near Arkoma High School.
Agents said the search warrant was part of an “ongoing criminal narcotics investigation into the controlled
dangerous substance distribution” of Cox and his company, A Town, LLC.
While the search warrant was being served, officers
saw Cox sitting in a vehicle near his residence at the
intersection of Main Street and Blocker Avenue. They placed him under arrest
for an outstanding felony warrant issued in relation to the ongoing investigation.
In Cox’s home, police found three glass smoking pipes with a substance that
tested positive for methamphetamine, several pipes, water bongs, an unloaded
pistol, a police scanner that was on and working, and a “very large quantity” of
synthetic marijuana.
There were also multiple documents in the trailer relating to Cox and his company.
According to the report, the items found were “very consistent” with items officers had previously obtained that were associated with Cox.
Cox is being charged with possession with intent to distribute CDS within
2,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to distribute synthetic CDS, possession of firearm during commission of a felony and unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on March 24, 2014.

SANMARCO
A Wilburton man was found passed out at the car wash trying
to sleep off a night of drinkin’ with a lady friend at a McAlester
bar.
44-year-old Eric Wade Sanmarco was arrested for public intoxication and possession of CDS after an officer decided to investigate what the man was doing.
According to the police report, a Wilburton police officer was
patrolling Highway 2 by a car wash when he saw a red car parked
between a dumpster and the car wash vacuum cleaners. Due to
some recent burglaries in the area, the officer decided to investigate.
He noticed the car was wet, and he walked up to it to see if
there was anyone inside. He found Sanmarco asleep in the driver’s seat with the seat reclined all the way back.
He knocked on the window several times, but Sanmarco didn’t budge. He then opened the
driver’s door and yelled at the sleeping man. Sanmarco woke up and asked him what he was
doing.
The officer asked him if he was OK, but Sanmarco didn’t answer -- he just seemed very disoriented. He also smelled strongly of alcohol.
Sanmarco told the officer he had been parked at the car wash for two hours trying to sleep.
The officer asked him to have a seat in the patrol car. When Sanmarco exited his vehicle, he
was unsteady on his feet. He told the officer he hadn’t been drinking.
The officer asked him if he had anything illegal in his car. He said no and gave the officer
permission to look in the vehicle. The officer found a container with numerous pills, a white
powder substance and a six pack of beer. Poison control identified the pills as schedule 2 and
4 narcotics.
Sanmarco agreed to speak to the officer, and he said he had picked up a girl and took her
to a bar in McAlester. He said he had several drinks at the bar, and he was sitting at the car
wash so he didn’t have to drive.
The officer administered sobriety tests, and it was clear Sanmarco still hadn’t slept off his
night of drinking.
Sanmarco is being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance
without a prescription, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 17, 2015.

Peters
Clayton man Jacob Lynn Peters, 27, was arrested after he
slammed into a building while intoxicated. Fortunately for
him, he didn’t remember getting arrested.
On February 2 at approximately 12:29 p.m., a Clayton
police officer was dispatched to Douglas and Highway 271
because a vehicle had run into the building of a local business. When the officer arrived, he saw that a white truck had
slammed into the building, causing major damage.
Bystanders told the officer the driver of the vehicle, identified as Peters, had been helped to the northwest corner of
Douglas, and an employee who was in the building at the
time of the crash was in the parking lot.
Witnesses said the truck came north on Highway 271 at a
“very high rate of speed” and hit the curb, traveling airborne
into the building.
When the officer made contact with Peters, the man appeared confused and he wouldn’t
answer the officer’s questions. He also smelled strongly of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.
An ambulance arrived to check on Peters. The man couldn’t stand or walk without assistance. When he was helped into the back of the ambulance, he tried to mumble, but his words
were slurred.
Peters became uncooperative with the EMTs, and they asked if an officer could ride on the
ambulance with them to the hospital. Once Peters arrived at the hospital, he became unresponsive and couldn’t be woken up. Tribal police offered to watch the man until he woke up.
At approximately 7 p.m., the officer returned to the hospital to take Peters to jail. He asked
the man if he remembered what had taken place earlier that day -- he said no. The officer
asked him how much he had had to drink. He said a lot, but he couldn’t remember what.
Peters is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol
and malicious injury to property. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2015.

A Hugo man tried to evade arrest by throwing
drugs and a gun out of the car he was riding in. Too
bad police saw him.
On February 7 shortly after 11 p.m., a Hugo officer was traveling east on Jefferson Street, when he
noticed a maroon car in front of him. According to
the affidavit, the car turned south onto Eighth Street,
then the passenger side door opened and several
objects were thrown from the vehicle. The officer
noticed some of the items were white, and one was
silver.
He stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Eighth
and Grand Street. He also radioed for another officer
to obtain the items thrown from the vehicle.
There were three occupants in the vehicle: the
driver, a small child, and 26-year-old Dantrel Deshane McGrew.
The other officer radioed that he had found a loaded firearm at the location of
the discarded objects. There were also four white small baggies of a green leafy
substance that field-tested positive for marijuana. All of the items were lying in
the road.
The men were detained for questioning.
The driver said he had picked up McGrew a few blocks away. He was driving
on Eighth Street when McGrew opened the door. He said he wasn’t sure what
McGrew had thrown out of his vehicle.
McGrew told police he hadn’t thrown anything out of the vehicle but a cigarette.
The driver was released, but McGrew was arrested and transported to jail.
McGrew is being charged with unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute, child endangerment, possession of firearm during commission
of felony and carrying weapon with unlawful intent. His bond was set at $25,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 31, 2015.

Allen man Chance Adrian Griffin,
20, was arrested February 11 for allegedly assaulting the mother of his unborn child, because he suspected she
was talking to other guys.
According to the affidavit, the victim told a police officer she went to
the parking lot of a local business on
February 10 to speak to Griffin about
the baby she was pregnant with, which
was his.
The woman said he asked her if she
had been talking to other guys. He
then grabbed her phone and keys and tried to look for old messages
and calls. When he couldn’t look on the phone due to a password, the
victim said Griffin attacked her and called her a “stupid bitch.” She
said she told him to stop or she was going to call the cops. When she
went to grab her phone, he pushed it away from her.
She said she tried to defend herself by “swinging” at him to try to
get out of the car, but Griffin punched her in the chest and slapped
her in the face. She said Griffin apologized, but then he told her, “I’m
going to kill you, you stupid bitch.” The victim said her mom then
showed up and she was able to leave.
When the officer asked her how long she had been with Griffin, the
woman said they had broken up in January for “a similar incident.”
She then showed the officer threatening text messaged Griffin had
sent her.
Griffin is being charged with domestic abuse-assault and battery
against a pregnant woman and interference with emergency telephone call. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 6, 2015.
No excuses!!
NO PAYOFFS ALLOWED
We often receive calls asking if there
is a price to keep someone out of our
publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never
accepted money or favor to not publish
a photo.
We hear many times from people that
the arresting officer of someone at
the jail told them all they have to do is
pay us money and we will not publish
their photo. This is NOT true. We feel
that taking money in exchange for not
publishing an arrest photo is extortion
and, as such, should be a crime.
There are companies who do take
money to remove a person’s arrest
information. OK Jailbirds never has
and never will. If an arrest doesn’t
make our paper, it is only because we
didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a
photo we could match up.

A hard-partying McAlester mother and daughter duo were arrested January 28 for allegedly
assaulting people for no good reason other than
they had probably consumed too much alcohol.
Like mother, like daughter!
At approximately 5:27 p.m., a McAlester officer
was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of
E. Tyler due to an assault and battery, according
to the affidavit. When he arrived, he spoke to a man and a woman who said Kate
Monique Beaty, 24, and Jo Anna Beaty, 42, had assaulted them.
The man said Jo Anna Beaty came over to his residence, “very intoxicated” and
she “started acting crazy.” He said she started hitting him in the face and uppercut
him in the jaw. She then kicked him so hard in the stomach it knocked him against
the wall.
The other victim said Jo Anna was very intoxicated and had been drinking all
day. She said the woman assaulted the man for no reason, other than her being
“extremely intoxicated.”
She told the officer she and Jo Anna left, and she overheard Jo Anna and her
daughter talking about going back to the residence to assault the man. She said she
went back to warn him and while she was there, a car pulled up, and the mother
and daughter jumped out and started assaulting her. She said they threw her to the
ground and started hitting and kicking her.
Witnesses verified the assaults.
Jo Anna Beaty is being charged with domestic abuse assault and battery, and
assault and battery. She was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear
in court on March 24, 2015.
Kate Beaty is being charged with aggravated assault and battery. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on February 26, 2015.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

ENDANGERING OTHERS WHILE
ATTEMPT TO ELUDE
A family scuffle got a little out of control on February 5, and a
Mead woman admitted to getting mad and stabbing her brother on
the living room floor.
A Bryan County deputy was dispatched to the hospital at approximately 4:54 p.m. for a stabbing victim, according to the affidavit.
When he arrived, he was told that the victim had just been assaulted
by his 21-year-old sister, Amber Renee Smith, at their home in the
3300 block of Big Valley Road.
The victim told the officer he was aggravating his sister, and they started wrestling
on the living room floor. He said the wrestling match became more aggressive, and
he pushed his sister to the ground and said, “Is that all you got?”
The victim said Smith then went to the kitchen and grabbed a large kitchen knife.
She returned to the living room, stabbed her brother and started watching TV.
The officer went to the location of the incident and asked Smith what happened.
She told him, “We fought.” The officer placed her under arrest, and she was taken
to the Bryan County Jail.
Once they were at the jail, Smith told the officer she had been drinking and she
seemed to be intoxicated. He returned the next morning to speak to her.
Smith said she and her brother were “play fighting” when he became more aggressive. She said she started getting mad and he wouldn’t stop. She said the fight became violent, so she went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. She said she was just
trying to scare him by stabbing the chair he was sitting in. She said she really wasn’t
sure what happened, and she put the knife in the kitchen sink and went to her room.
She later changed her story and said she became mad and lost control, stabbing
her brother.
Smith is being charged with domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Her bond was set at $5,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on March
19, 2015.
It’s all fun and games until

By Mark Hannah
State Game Warden-McCurtain County
I know many of you have seen the tributes on social media about Trooper Nicholas Dees. As a person that knew Nick, I think he would be more than
flattered. Trooper Dees gave his life in service to
the citizens of Oklahoma, doing the duty he swore
to uphold. He knew the risks involved, but I know
he never imagined this happening.
As I received the shocking news early Sunday
morning, I was brought to tears and began to deny
it. "No, not Nick, it can't be." All that went through
my mind was Nick's wife and girls. Their lives would be changed forever.
You see, Nick was more than a State Trooper. He was a fine, upstanding,
young man that I had the honor to meet several years ago. I had began to know
Nick when he worked at Wal Mart, and later at a local pest control service. Nick
married a distant cousin of mine, Brandi Rudisill in 2005, so I knew he had his"
head on" pretty good. Nick and Brandi began their family in McCurtain county,
welcoming two precious little girls into this world.
I noticed Nick "hanging around" with a few officers at the Idabel police department doing ride-alongs. I talked to him and he told me he was going to be a
police officer. He told me his dad was a retired State Trooper and that one day,
he was going to follow in his foot steps.
Months later, Nick was wearing the uniform of the Idabel Police Department.
It fit him well. You could tell he was made for the job. I asked one of the senior patrol officers "What kind of hand is ole Nick?" He replied, "He's doing
great." Nick made a fine patrolman at Idabel, but had always wanted to be a
State Trooper.
After a while, I guess the Department of Public Safety decided Nick would never take no for an answer, so 2 years ago, he received his acceptance letter for the
upcoming highway patrol academy. Nick had just recently graduated C.L.E.E.T.
with his basic peace officer certification, and now he was going to attend the
trooper academy. This is the toughest police academy I have ever laid my eyes
on. I knew that Nick was the kind of guy that could do it, if anyone could.
All of us "back home", kept up with his progress. We knew he was "getting run
through the ringer". But, all the news we were receiving was that Nick was taking
it all in stride. Sure enough, the kid from Wal-Mart, that worked as an exterminator, that became a peace officer at Idabel, was graduating from the Highway
Patrol academy. His dreams had came true.
Nick and Brandi moved to Seminole where he was attached to Troop D out of
McAlester. They would make trips back to McCurtain County during the holidays and days off. When I seen Nick wearing that brown uniform, I knew that it
was the one he was always meant to wear and he wore it well.
One of the greatest things about Nick, was that none of the uniforms that he
ever donned, changed the great guy that he was. Nick was still the kind, and
humble man that I had the pleasure to know. He loved his God, he loved his family, he loved his profession, and he loved people. Those that knew him are truly
heart broken with his tragic death, but we all know where he is today. Nicholas
Dees is a true hero. He was a great man and a great friend.
A TRIBUTE TO A
FRIEND AND BROT HER

KNOWingly CONCEALING
STOLEN PROPERTY
An Atoka man was arrested after police found his van stuck in the mud and him
drunk as a skunk.
Timothy Dale Marley, 41, was arrested February 6 for suspicion of driving under
the influence by an Atoka police officer around 7:46 p.m.
According to the police report, an officer was dispatched to an open lot at Hesse
Street and Walker Drive because there was a “blue van stuck in an open lot.” When
the officer arrived, he saw the stuck van and Marley standing by the open passenger door. The officer exited his vehicle and approached Marley -- it appeared as
though the man was trying to hide something from him.
Marley quickly shut the door, but not before the officer saw a syringe lying the
floor of the van. The officer noticed Marley smelled strongly of alcohol and had very slurred speech. He
was also unsteady on his feet.
The officer placed him under arrest and conducted an inventory of the man’s vehicle. He found the
syringe, which contained a liquid substance the officer believed to be a controlled dangerous substance.
According to the report, Marley is a known drug user and had told the officer in previous dealings
that he uses drugs.
Marley was taken to jail, and the syringe was packed up and sent to the lab for testing.
Marley is being charged with actual physical control of vehicle while under the influence. He was
released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 6, 2015.

When a Checotah restaurant’s change was stolen from the
register, a suspicious man told an officer that he had robbed
his piggy bank so he could go to the casino.
Eufaula man Billy Don Christy, 45, was arrested February
3 on suspicion of second-degree burglary and possession of
CDS -- the piggy bank was nowhere to be found.
At approximately 11 p.m., a Checotah officer was dispatched to a local restaurant to take a burglary report. The
owner told the officer someone had broken into his business
and emptied the registers. The joke was on the burglar, because the owner said the only money that was still in the registers was change.
Employees at the nearby casino told the officer a man had come into the casino with
more than $40 worth of change, and he was still there. The officer located the man,
identified as Christy, and asked him to step outside. He told the man a nearby business had been broken into, and he had been told Christy cashed in a lot of change at
the casino. Christy told the officer he had robbed his piggy bank so he could come to
the casino.
While the officer was speaking with the man, he noticed Christy’s coat had the same
kind of buttons as one he had found by the door at the diner. The officer asked him if
he had broken into the diner. Christy said no.
The officer asked him to empty his pockets. Christy pulled a screwdriver that was
“at least a foot long” out of his pocket. He quickly said, “That does not mean that I
broke into the store.” He kept emptying his pockets, and he pulled out a cut off piece
of a pen that had a white residue inside of it.
The officer placed Christy under arrest.
Christy is being charged with burglary in the second degree, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His
bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 19, 2015.
