Spiro couple Richard Wayne Riffey, 35, and Brittney Jean
Wells, 26, were arrested in Spiro December 8 after they admitted to stealing a trailer belonging to the Sequoyah County
Sheriff’s Office.
According to the affidavit, the Sequoyah sheriff told a Leflore County deputy that a double axel trailer belonging to the
sheriff’s office had been stolen. He said a GPS was attached to
the trailer, and it said the trailer was close to Orchard Place in
Spiro.
Deputies followed the GPS signal, and they found the trailer
at a residence on Orchard Place. Wells was at the residence,
and she admitted that she and her husband, Riffey, had stolen the trailer in Sallisaw. She said she and her husband were
driving down Wildhorse Road on December 7 when they saw
a trailer. They checked the area to make sure that no one was
around before hooking up the trailer to their vehicle and taking it to their house. The couple noticed the trailer had numbers on the front of it, so they fixed that with a grinder and took
the tailgate off.
Wells said she noticed a black box on the trailer. When Riffey
told her it was probably a tracking box, she told him to get rid
of it. She said when they went to buy paint at Dollar General,
they tossed the GPS into a nearby lake. They then spray painted the trailer with black paint.
The couple’s modifications to the trailer didn’t work.
Riffey told police the same story.
Wells is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property, conspiracy to commit
a felony and malicious injury to property under $1,000.
Riffey is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property, conspiracy to commit
a felony and malicious injury to property under $1,000. They were both released on $4,500
bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on January 15, 2015.

A Talihina couple found with drugs and
paraphernalia blamed each other for the
meth when a deputy arrested them on December 18.
Apparently, love is not kind.
According to the affidavit, a Latimer County
deputy was patrolling northbound on Highway 2 around 12:13 a.m. when he saw a vehicle traveling southbound with no tag light.
He turned around and stopped the vehicle,
which also had an expired tag. He made contact with the driver, Tommy Joe Williams, 42,
and passenger, Shelly Renee Abbott, 52.
He told them the reason for the stop and
asked Williams to have a seat in his patrol
vehicle. Abbott told the deputy she believed
she had warrants out of LeFlore County, but
dispatch said Abbott didn’t have any active
warrants.
The deputy gave Williams a verbal warning,
and he asked both subjects if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. They both said no
and gave the deputy permission to search the car. The deputy found
a green bottle of pills with the name scratched off in Abbott’s purse,
a digital scale in a black jacket pocket, and a clear bag containing a
white crystal substance that field-tested positive for meth behind the
driver’s seat.
Both Abbott and Williams denied ownership of the items. They
both told the officer the meth belonged to the other person.
Abbott is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, possession of prescription medication without a prescription and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was
set at $1,500.
Williams is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His
bond was set at $2,500.
They are both scheduled to appear in court on January 6, 2015.

While looking for underage drinkers
at a local bar, Boswell police ended up
arresting David Garfield Henderson,
who was well over the drinking age at
48. The reason? He had several warrants and a pocket full of drugs.
According to the affidavit, Boswell police were doing a walk-through at a bar
on Hunter Avenue shortly after 10:30
p.m. when they saw a man look at them,
then leave the bar.
One of the officers recognized the man
as Henderson. Knowing the Boswell
man had warrants, he followed the man
outside to arrest him. By the time officers walked outside the bar,
Henderson was nowhere in sight.
The officers split up and began looking for Henderson when they
heard someone yell, “There he is!” They saw Henderson and told
him to stop, but the man wasn’t going to give up his freedom that
easily.
Henderson took off running through a series of alleys. One officer
followed on foot, and the other officer chased the man in his patrol
vehicle.
Police were eventually able to trap him in an alley near Nacho Mama’s and First Texoma National Bank in their patrol cars. Officers
had to spray Henderson with pepper spray before he would finally
calm down and comply with officers. He said the alcohol he had at
the bar made him run when he saw the officers.
Officers searched the man, and they found prescription drugs that
he didn’t have a prescription for, and some marijuana and a “roach”
used for smoking the weed.
In addition to his municipal warrants, Henderson is being charged
with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer. He was
released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
January 28, 2015.

The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI investigate
an officer-involved shooting near Grant on Dec. 4. The incident
began with a foot pursuit of a subject by numerous law enforcement
agencies.
That pursuit ended in the parking lot of the Choctaw Nation
Casino and Resort located at 1516 U.S. Highway 271 when the
man exited a pickup truck he had stolen and then raised a rifle at
officers. William Lee Honea, 33, of Texas, was shot multiple times.
Two Hugo officers and two Choctaw County sheriff’s deputies fired
their weapons. Honea was transported to a local hospital where he
was pronounced dead.
OSBI agents spent much of the day Thursday at the scene
gathering information and evidence. Today, agents will continue
conducting interviews. Once the investigation is complete, agents will provide the district attorney with
the facts of the case. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified.

A 26-year-old Coalgate substitute teacher was arrested December
17 after parents told school officials she was texting their 13-year-old
son sexually explicit text messages.
According to the affidavit, a school official contacted the Coal
County Sheriff’s Office. Courtney Danielle Perkins admitted to the
official she had been texting the boy since October, and she had sent
him several pictures, including one of herself in a bra.
The boy said he had been texting and messaging the teacher on
Facebook. The deputy found several pictures of Perkins in the student’s phone.
While searching the phone, the deputy noticed the messages between the student and Perkins indicated some pictures had already
been deleted. In the messages, Perkins repeatedly told the boy she loved him and wanted
them to be together.
The student also said they would hug and kiss in her room and on one occasion, he went to
her house and they hugged and kissed.
Perkins admitted to hugging and kissing the student, and said she knew the relationship
was sexual in nature and inappropriate.
She also said the boy came to her house once, and they watched a movie and held hands.
Perkins was fired from her job and is being charged with lewd or indecent proposals to
child under 16. She was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
January 22, 2015.

A McAlester trio went to jail December 18 after breaking into a
home and maybe trying to set it on fire.
Around 5 a.m., a woman called dispatch and said there was a possible burglary in progress at a residence in the 700 block of W. Mitchell Road. She said there was not supposed to be anyone in the house
behind hers, but she could see a car and flashlights in the home.
When a Pittsburg County deputy arrived at the residence, he saw
a car in the driveway with a man sitting in the passenger seat. The
deputy asked him who was inside the house. The man told him Chris
Brown and some guy named Matt.
A Krebs officer and McAlester officer arrived to assist.
The deputy knocked on the front door and announced himself,
but no one came to the door. He then called the reporting party and
asked her if anyone should be in the house. She said no.
The deputy heard someone moving around in the house, so he and
an officer opened the front door.
Heavy smoke rolled out of the open door, and the officers could
smell something burning.
The deputy walked inside and saw Matthew Cole Davenport, 33,
standing inside the house holding something in his hand. The deputy
told him to get to the ground and crawl to the door. The deputy then
heard a woman yelling and another guy talking.
He told both of them to come to the door. They were identified as
Jane Ann Martin, 34, and Christopher Lee Brown, 38.
Police cleared the house and noticed that a fire had been started in
the sink. They also found several syringe caps and some burnt aluminum foil in the sink.
The deputy called Davenport’s mother and asked her if her son or
anyone else was supposed to be in the home. She said no.
The deputy heard Davenport say he knew he wasn’t supposed to be
there, but he wanted to come get some of his stuff.
The homeowner said she wanted to press charges. The three subjects were placed under arrest and taken to jail. All three are being
charged with second-degree burglary.
Martin’s bond was set at $2,500; Brown’s bond was set at $2,500; Davenport’s bond was
set at $15,000.
They are all scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2015.

KIDNAPPING OF CHILD
Rattan man Winnfred Coy Green, 53, was locked up December 19 after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend and threatened to bust her teeth out.
According to the affidavit, a Pushmataha County deputy was sent to a residence on Cloudy
Road for reports of a domestic in progress around 2 p.m. When he arrived, a woman, who
identified herself as Green’s “on again, off again girlfriend,” told him Green had attacked her
while she was working on a fridge at a house they were working on.
The woman said he started yelling at her and calling her names. When she tried to get
away, she said he followed her out of the house and into the camper they were staying in at
the back of the house. She said he pressed his head against hers, hurting her, and that he
called her a “stupid f------ bitch.”
The woman added when she told Green to leave her alone, he slapped her so hard she fell
to the floor. She said he then told her if she didn’t leave, he was going to bust her two front
teeth out.
The deputy noticed that the woman’s face was red and swollen, and her lip was busted. He then went to the camper
the woman said they were staying in, and he placed Green under arrest. The victim told police that Green, who was
a felon, had guns at the residence.
Later that day, police obtained a search warrant and returned to the residence. Nothing was found.
On December 21, the victim called police and told them she had found the items she told them about while she was
moving some of her stuff. When police arrived, she showed police a computer she claimed Green was using to download child pornography, four guns and ammo.
Green is being charged with domestic abuse and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony. His
bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 14, 2015.
Home is where the guns are
Keota man Joseph Wiley Rhodes, 38, claimed to be a federal officer when police tried to arrest him for violating a protective order
on December 14.
Guess what? Rhodes got tased.
On the night of December 14, dispatch advised a Haskell County
deputy that Rhodes was at a woman’s residence in violation of a protective order. The deputy and a state game warden went to the area,
but they were unable to locate Rhodes.
A Keota officer with a K9 arrived to assist. The dog led police to
a patch of trees. The officer told Rhodes to come out, because they
knew he was there. Rhodes replied, “F--- you, get away.” He then
told police they needed to leave, and they better not come after him.
He then walked out of the trees swinging a large piece of wood.
Police told Rhodes to drop the wood and put up his hands, but he refused. Rhodes said he
would sue if the K9 bit him. He also threatened to kill the dog. He then added, “I’m a federal
officer. Y’all are on Indian land and a VFW memorial.”
Officers approached Rhodes, but he continued to scream at them and refused to show them
his hands. The deputy told Rhodes if he didn’t comply, he would tase him.
Rhodes didn’t comply, so the deputy tased him.
Rhodes eventually followed police orders after more resistance, and he was placed under
arrest and taken to jail.
Rhodes is being charged with protective order violation, assault on police officer, threatening to perform an act of violence, and resisting an officer. He was released on a $5,000 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on January 26, 2015.
You can’t arrest me -- I’m a federal officer!

A Durant woman was taken to jail on December 21 for allegedly attacking a man because she didn’t like the kind of music
he played.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a Durant officer responded to a report of
a domestic in progress in the 100 block of W. Beech, according
to the affidavit. Dispatch advised it sounded like the male caller
was being hit by a woman while he was on the phone.
When he arrived, he found the man, Trenton Gene Brooks,
II, standing outside by his truck and the woman, Patricia Lynne
Williamson, 29, lying in her bed. A 4-month-old baby was in
the same room as the woman, asleep in his crib.
Neither Brooks nor Williamson had much to say about what
had happened, but they did tell the officer the fight started
“over some music Brooks had turned on.” Brooks said Williamson started to argue with Brooks and hit him, so he called the
police.
The officer noticed visible injuries all over Brooks body, but
the man refused to give a statement. He said he only called police because he couldn’t put up with it anymore.
The couple told police they had both consumed three beers
and three shots of whiskey each. In the middle of the residence
in plain sight, the officer saw a glass bowl containing a green
leafy substance that later field-tested positive for marijuana, a
brass pipe with residue, and rolling papers.
Williamson later told the officer the marijuana was hers.
Brooks and Williamson were both placed under arrest and taken to jail.
Brooks is being charged with possession of marijuana in presence of a minor and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was unavailable at time of print, and he is scheduled
to appear in court on February 25, 2015.
Williamson is being charged with possession of marijuana in presence of a minor and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $1,250.
They are both scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2015.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Taylor D: I think I’m tired of hearing about it.
Karen H: I’m with @taylor
Justin A: I’m in amazement that 2
comments into this post there was an
agreement.
MeMe E: Being a former Police officer myself and being highly trained
and educated, dealing with these split
second decisions, protecting the public as well as yourself...this officer was
justified totally and completely without
a doubt...i watched his interview and
he was consistent and truthful...it was
proven that witnesses lied and are being prosecuted for it...I think the media
is completely making this whole thing
around the world to be something it
isn’t...and to incite a riot is illegal and
all those involved should be prosecuted...an opinion is one thing but to get
people all fired up to the.point of burning down a town is despicable and set
us all back 100 years...ridiculous is
what it is...
Amy F: I don’t think any American
citizen should die at the hands of a societal pawn for selling loosies.
Okjailbirds: So, Amy F, what
should they have done differently?
Kevin G: Aren’t cigarettes a atf issue to begin with? And yes im tired if
hearing about it..stay vigilant .and kind
to one another
Jerry R: Seriously Kevin? These
men were both breaking the law and
when confronted both chose to resist
arrest! I don’t necessarily agree with the
officer using a choke hold when it was
not proper department procedure to do
so and its a shame either man had to
die as a result of their choices but, they
made the choice to not comply with the
law. It’s ridiculous that it’s been made
into a racial issue. I think the media
feeds off of it and really pushes the issue.
Janice M: I believe justice was
served in both of these cases, but I worry about unbiased reporting from ALL
of the media.
Shiela H: I feel if you didnt see it
dont judge but heres one hands up dont
shoot pants up dont loot
Keith S: Okjailbirds trolling the internet.
Jesse C: I guess I would ask exactly
what the rioters wished to accomplish?
If they really have an agenda what is it?
They’re hurting innocent businesses
to punish police? How is this justice in
anyone’s eyes?
Jay C: I think they’re doing their
Christmas shopping.
Edwin L: I doubt the cop actually
broke the law there. But the cop isn’t
the problem,it’s the law. Anything those
guys do in the line of duty is basically
lawful because of statutes like qualified immunity and other’s. There is no
accountability for actions,no reason to
practice restraint because both policy
and law protect them from mistakes or
rash actions. The problem is that the legal system is not a justice system.
Frank K: An old girlfriends father
who was a cop, once told me, the best
thing you can do when you see the police is walk the other way, or there is
going to be trouble. .. In other words,
if you see the cops get the hell out of
there.
Lisa H: I can promise you this; if I
were placed in situations where I felt
my life or the lives of my family were
in danger, someone would not survive!!
The police have only seconds to react.
Everyone who is griping, if you think
you can do the job better, jump on it!!
Meg W: Ferguson, yes, justice was
served. NY, no
Merlin K: I back the police, don’t
resist don’t get shot. Brown was a thug.
Garner I don’t agree with. He said he
could not breathe 11 times. It was criminal not to pay attention to his pleas.
In light of the recent media attention surrounding
the Ferguson, MO., shooting and the NY police chokehold incident, do you believe
justice has been served with
the outcomes? On what do
you base that belief? Do you
think the media is reporting
both sides of the stories?

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Today, I’m going to re-visit who
has the biggest impact on our new
drivers that hit the road each and every day.
First, the Oklahoma Driver’s Education classes and schools across
the state are second to none, and do a fantastic job of educating our
young drivers on the law, and proper way to safely operate a motor
vehicle. I would like to point to some other folks, who I believe
have a far greater impact on how our youngsters approach driving,
and address them, and that is the adults who these young drivers
look up to: the parents, older siblings, and extended family.
If you fit in this category, please pay attention. I believe that our
kids learn their driving behavior not from the Oklahoma Highway
Patrol, other law enforcement, or driver’s education instructor, but
from you, the parents and family. I know I learned that way! Let
me give you some examples.
You are a dad, and for whatever reason, when you are driving
in town, or on a county road, you just don’t buckle up. Maybe its
because you don’t drive fast in these areas, or have a farm tag and
just don’t have to; however, you do buckle up when you get on
highways or go on long drives. The message you are sending is that
when you are in the vehicle there are certain times that it is OK not
to wear your seatbelt. If dad doesn’t have to do it, I don’t either! In
fact, at least 50% of all accidents happen on county roads, and
you are more likely to be in an accident within 10 miles of your
residence than otherwise. So the real message you are sending is,
don’t buckle up during the times that you are most likely to need it!
Next, mom gets off work at 5:00, and one of the kids has a ball
game in another town at 5:30. She can get there if she speeds. After
all, it is important to get to those activities, and it won’t hurt to
push the speed just a little. The message you send to your kids
is, its OK to speed, as long as you can justify it! The facts are that
unsafe speeds kill more young people 16 to 25 than any other single
thing! The message here needs to be that its OK to slow down and
show up a few minutes late.....it is much better than the alternative,
which is never showing up at all because you’ve been involved in
an accident.
Please remember, when you are driving, you are setting
the example for someone....and they are watching you all the
time. What message are you sending? I hope it’s the one that says,
I’ll lead by example because I love you, and want to do my part to
keep you safe! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Santa may bring coal to those who have been naughty, but for two
Texas women with a trunk full of wrapped marijuana disguised as
presents, time behind bars was much more appropriate.
According to the police report, an Atoka County deputy was traveling north on US 69 at approximately 11:09 p.m. on December 16 when
he saw a white vehicle drive across the fog line onto the shoulder.
He stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Mesquite
woman Stephanie Renee Roboedo, 25, and passenger Dallas woman
Blanca Moya, 50. There were also two young children in the car.
The deputy told the woman why he stopped them, and he asked
them for identification and insurance.
While the driver was looking for her insurance, she asked the deputy why he had stopped her. He thought that was weird, since he had
just told her the reason. The deputy went back to his patrol car to
check their information. He noticed Moya kept moving around in the
vehicle. When he returned to the car, he asked the women if there was
anything illegal in the car.
Moya started talking a lot. He then asked if he could search the vehicle. Roboedo told him he could look. He asked her what was in the
trunk. She said there was a baby gate in there. She was unable to find
a button to open the trunk, so she handed him the car key.
The deputy opened the trunk and saw two bags and a plastic baby
gate. Behind those items were several Christmas presents. When the
officer picked up one of the gifts, he noticed it was heavy and dense.
Knowing that some drug traffickers disguised drugs as presents, the deputy got his K9 from
his patrol vehicle. The dog immediately alerted on the package.
The deputy opened the present and found two sealed bricks of marijuana and placed the
women in handcuffs. All 14 of the presents in the trunk had marijuana in them.
Moya had told the officer they were going to Chicago to see her grandson. One of the “presents” said: “To Bobby, from grandma.”
Both women denied the drugs belonged to them.
Both women are being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, and their bonds were set at
$100,000.
They are both scheduled to appear in court on January 7, 2015.

BRINKER
31-year-old Brittany C. Brinker of Canadian was arrested December 20 after trying to free chickens.
According to the affidavit, a McIntosh County deputy
was dispatched to Highway 69 around 9:25 p.m. for a
possible reckless driver. The driver, identified as Brinker,
told the officer her motor had blown up while driving,
and as she pulled over, she almost hit a vehicle beside
her.
One of Brinker’s friends was at the scene in another
vehicle. She told the deputy she had called a wrecker to
tow her vehicle, so the deputy left.
About an hour later, the wrecker driver called the
deputy and told him Brinker had “gone crazy and ran off
into the woods.” The deputy found her hiding next to a
building in a poultry farm on County Road 4189. When
he asked her what was going on, she told him, “I am trying to save the chickens. They do mean things to them.”
She also smelled strongly of alcohol. The deputy arrested her for public intoxication.
On the way to the jail, Brinker admitted she had taken three Prozac pills and consumed a
bottle of vodka after the deputy left the scene because she was afraid he was going to arrest
her for something she had done wrong in the past. She also told the deputy she was trying to
free the chickens, and she would do anything to get out of jail -- she even offered him oral sex.
When the deputy told her no, she tried to headbutt and bite him.
At the jail, Brinker became combative and refused to answer any questions. She started
kicking a jailer and tried to bite the deputy. She only calmed down after being tazed.
Police found two cans of insecticide in Brinker’s pockets.
During booking, dispatch contacted the arresting officer and told him a deputy had found
where Brinker had “made entry through a window at the poultry farm.” The deputy returned
to the poultry farm. He found a gallon of coolant that had been dumped into the drain, saw
trash scattered everywhere and found a clock that had been taken off the wall. Cans of insecticide were also missing.
Brinker is being charged with second-degree burglary, assault and battery on a police officer and public intoxication. Her bond was set at $15,000, and she is scheduled to appear in
court on February 19, 2015.

Attorney General Warns Oklahomans
of IRS Phone Scam
Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is warning
to keep watch of a phone scam making its way across
the state.
The Attorney General’s Office has received a number
of complaints from citizens who received phone calls
from someone claiming to be a representative of the
IRS.
The caller claims the IRS has a case against an
individual and if he or she did not contact the number
given within 24 hours, that person would be arrested.
This particular scam targets the most vulnerable
Oklahomans who may not readily be aware of the
IRS’s procedures.
“It is beyond frustrating that scams like this
continue to be rampant. Unfortunately, we typically
see these types of scams spike during the holidays.
While this is meant to be a season of celebration, Oklahomans should keep their guard
up to protect themselves from such crimes,” Attorney General Pruitt said. “A simple tip
you should always remember, the IRS will never call about a payment or taxes owed
without sending it in writing first.”
Here are some tips to protect you from these types of scams:
• The IRS will always notify you in writing first. They will never contact you by phone
without first mailing you a bill.
• You will never be required to use a specific payment method.
• Never give your credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
• You will not be threatened with being arrested by local law enforcement for not
paying.
If you have been a victim of a scam, report the incident to local law enforcement and
to the AG’s Office immediately. For more tips from the IRS you can visit their website at
irs.gov.
If you have a question about a possible scam, contact the AG’s Public Protection Unit
at (405) 521-2029, (918) 581-2885, by e-mail at [email protected] file a
complaint online at www.ok.gov/oag.

Broken Bow woman Michelle Lynn McGee, 32, went a
little overboard with the booze and pills on December 21
-- so much so that she was arrested for assaulting a police
officer.
Shortly after 5 a.m., a Broken Bow police officer was
dispatched to the 100 block of East First Street for a disturbance call. According to the affidavit, the caller told
dispatch that her sister, McGee, was belligerent and assaulting people. The caller was crying and seemed as
though she was scared.
When the officer arrived, the woman told him her sister
was intoxicated and had taken some pills. While speaking with the woman, the officer could see McGee walking
around the kitchen mumbling things. As he asked the sister things about what had
happened, McGee walked out of the kitchen and started hitting the officer in his face.
He grabbed her arm and told her to stop, but the belligerent McGee wasn’t about to
back down.
McGee started screaming and swinging her arms, trying to hit her sister. The officer
again told her to stop, but McGee continued to scream and cuss the officer.
Two officers managed to get McGee in the backseat of a patrol car, but she stuck her
legs and feet out so they couldn’t close the door.
Somehow, the officer was able to drive McGee to the jail, but once they were there,
she didn’t want to get out of the car. She kept pulling herself back into the vehicle and
refused to get out.
Officers pulled her out of the vehicle and took her directly to a jail cell. When an officer tried to take the handcuffs off of her, McGee tried to push the officer.
She continued to be uncooperative and combative with officers.
McGee is being charged with assault and battery on police officer and obstructing
an officer. Her bond was set at $10,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
February 3, 2015.
