Poteau man Billy Wayne James, 21, was caught walking
around drunk with no shirt, screaming and yelling and disturbing others.
The intoxicated man was arrested after he told an officer to
take him to jail.
On June 20 shortly after midnight, a Poteau officer was advised that a shirtless man was walking up and down Dewey Avenue, screaming and yelling. The officer located the man near the
train tracks on Saddler Avenue. He recognized him as James.
When James saw the officer, he stumbled toward him, nearly
falling at times. The officer asked him what he was doing. James
stated the obvious and said, “I’m drunk mother f-----.”
The officer then asked the man if there was anything wrong
with him. James once again slurred, “Hell no. I’m drunk mother
f-----. Take me to jail.”
James smelled like alcohol, his eyes were red and watery, and he seemed to have trouble
answering the officer’s questions. Well, besides telling the officer to take him to jail. The officer understood that quite well. He placed the man under arrest.
James seemed to have a change of heart, however, because he became “vulgar” and started
cursing and screaming on the way to the police department, according to the affidavit.
During booking, James told the officer he had been drinking whiskey. He said he consumed
at least ½ a liter of liquor that night.
James is being charged with public intoxication. His bond was set at $500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 30, 2015.

26-year-old Wister man Cody Don
White was just a little too nervous during
a traffic stop on June 16. His nervousness
led an officer to believe the man was hiding something; he was right.
According to the police report, a Latimer County deputy stopped White around
3:40 p.m. on Solonia Road because the
vehicle he was driving had a defective
brake light and damaged side mirror.
White told the deputy he had already
purchased a new mirror, and he would
replace it.
White appeared to be nervous during
the traffic stop, and he would pause for a long time before answering
basic questions, such as what his address was.
The deputy asked him why he was so nervous -- he didn’t reply.
The deputy asked him if there was anything illegal in the truck -- he
said no.
The deputy then asked him if he could search the truck. White initially said, “It’s my dad’s truck. I’m not sure what’s in it.”
White’s hands were shaking, so the deputy asked him why he was
so nervous. White replied, “I have some needles in the middle console.” He showed the deputy where the needles were, and he pointed
to some pill tablets in the floorboard. He said the pills were Oxycodone.
The deputy searched the truck. He also found a cotton ball and a
bottle of water.
The deputy placed White under arrest and transported him to jail.
White told him he didn’t have a prescription for the Oxycodone,
and he was trying to “shoot it up” prior to the traffic stop.
White is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was
released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
July 7, 2015.

Registered sex offender David Lee Fox, 50, ended up crashing his bike
when he tried to ride away from a police officer on June 23. The Hugo man
was arrested when the officer found some marijuana and other interesting
items in his possession.
A Hugo officer was traveling east on Jackson Street shortly after midnight when he saw a man riding a bicycle with no lights. The officer tried to
stop the bike, but the man, later identified as Fox, just pedaled harder in an
attempt to get away from the officer.
The chase didn’t last long, however. According to the police report, Fox
rode through the parking lot of a bar and tried to drive through a “brushy
ditch.” His plan didn’t work -- the man’s front tire hit something and he flew over the handlebars and landed in some gravel.
The officer ran to Fox and detained him. When he asked him why he ran, Fox was “disoriented” in his answers.
The officer searched the man, and he found several small knives in his pants, a marijuana
roach, and a green leafy substance that field-tested positive for marijuana.
After Fox was medically cleared, he was transported to jail.
During booking, an officer found a sexual toy, condoms, and a child-sized blue swimsuit in
the man’s belongings.
Fox is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and attempting to
elude. He was released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, 2015.

Kenefic woman Jessica Coline Taylor, 36, was arrested June 21 after
she allegedly stole a bunch of items from a man she was doing yard
work for.
According to the police report, a Coalgate police officer was dispatched to a residence on North Jerome due to a burglary. When he
arrived, he was greeted by Taylor and the owner of the residence. The
owner said he was missing several items from his garage, including ladders, a chainsaw and a power drill.
While he was talking to the officer, Taylor started laughing and said
at least she wasn’t being accused of taking items like the day before.
The man became angry and said he needed to talk to her about leaving
items in the back of her truck, including a 44-gallon trash can, plumbing tools, lock sets and other items he had told her to put back.
The officer asked the owner if Taylor had permission to take anything
from the residence -- he said no. Taylor also admitted he never told her
that she could take items off the property. She said she decided to take
the trash can back to her house so she could use it to clean it up.
The homeowner told the officer he wanted Taylor trespassed from
the property.
When Taylor found out the news, she started screaming at the officer.
He told her to take the victim’s items out of her truck.
The stolen trash can was returned, and Taylor was placed under arrest.
The officer was advised the woman had a warrant through Coal County.
The officer later spoke to some of Taylor’s neighbors, who told them
she had asked if they needed to buy any power tools. They also said they
had seen Taylor with a ladder in the back of her truck.
When Taylor found out the officer spoke to some of her neighbors,
she told him they had all lied, and he had no right to run her information.
Taylor is being charged with breaking and entering with unlawful intent and petit larceny. Her bond was set at $1,500, and she is scheduled
to appear in court on September 11, 2015.

Just like a reality TV show, Clayton man Christopher
James Spruell, 41, reportedly shot an AR-15 at some people
who came to his house to repossess his truck.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
On June 18, a Pittsburg County deputy was dispatched to
a residence on state Highway 43 in Clayton around 9 a.m.
due to the shooting. A man and woman told him they were
at the residence to repossess Spruell’s truck. The man said
he hooked Spruell’s vehicle up to his tow truck and pulled it
onto the highway. He then went back to the house and asked
Spruell for the keys, but Spruell wasn’t gonna let his truck go without a fight!
Sccording to the affidavit, Spurell jumped up into the tow truck, pulled out
what looked like an AR-15, and threatened to shoot the man and woman if they
didn’t drop his truck. The man said he agreed to lower the truck if Spruell would
put the gun away.
Spruell walked toward his truck, but the man threw the tow truck into drive
and started driving away. Spruell then pulled out his gun and started shooting at
the man and woman. He didn’t hit them, but he did manage to shoot out the gas
tank and two tires.
The victims said Spruell fired multiple rounds at their truck.
When the deputy spoke to Spruell, he didn’t try to deny that he shot his gun at
the truck.
Spruell told the officer, “I did not start shooting ‘til they started to pull off with
my truck.”
Spruell is being charged with two counts of shooting with intent to kill, feloniously pointing firearm, malicious injury to property under $1,000 and reckless
conduct with firearm. He was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on July 10, 2015.

Antlers man Blake Allen Miller, 21, scared a woman when he
broke into her vehicle on June 26 and asked if he could leave his
bag in there. When she told him no, he took off running.
According to the police report, an Antlers officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW I Street at approximately 3:36
a.m. A woman told him the suspect had just taken off running
west down Jay Street. The officer located the man, identified as
Miller.
Miller told the officer he was just “trying to help her,” and that
he and the woman were best friends.
Not according to her!
The woman told the deputy she heard some noises coming
from outside, so she stepped outside on her front porch to see
what was going on. She saw Miller, and he asked her if he could
leave his bag in her vehicle. She told him no. He jerked the van
door open, pulling it off the tracks, grabbed his bag, and took off running.
The officer noticed that the sliding door on the van was indeed hanging off the tracks.
Miller told the officer a different story. He said he was just walking by the house, when he
noticed that the van door was hanging down. So, he stopped to fix the door for her.
The officer didn’t buy his story. He placed the man under arrest and transported him to jail.
Miller is being charged with burglary in the second degree and malicious injury/mischief.
He was released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2015.

NO NIGHTTIME NOODLING!
Noodling or hand fishing is extremely popular, but can be very dangerous too. Noodling at night can be
even more dangerous, and has resulted in several noodlers drowning, over
the past few years. Regulations were
changed, last year, making it illegal to
noodle at night.
These noodlers were caught illegally noodling at night on June 11, 2015
at Robert S. Kerr Reservoir. Oklahoma Game Warden J.D. Stauffer (Haskell Co.) apprehended them with one large Flathead
and a smaller Blue catfish, both caught well after dark, driving around the lake in a pontoon
boat without required navigation lights. Remember, please be safe while enjoying our great
outdoors!
All were cited for their violations, cases are pending.

Calera man Joseph Paul Cunningham, 66, was
arrested June 14 because he wouldn’t stop bothering some paramedics -- paramedics who were
helping a stranger, not him.
A Bryan County deputy was dispatched to the
4800 block of Smiser Road at approximately 5:39
p.m. for a disturbance. Medical personnel who
were on the scene attending to a man with a leg
fracture told the deputy Cunningham walked up
to them and “started an altercation,” according to
the police report.
They said the man drove past the location and
didn’t get over far enough on the road; he then got
out of his vehicle then started arguing with the paramedics.
Cunningham also tried to fight with another man on scene who tried to
calm him down.
Cunningham eventually left the scene, but he backed up “closer than he
should have” to the paramedics and sped off to a driveway down the street.
When the deputy approached Cunningham, the man claimed the altercation wasn’t his fault. He said as he was driving up to the location, a person
started waving at him “in an aggressive manner.” Cunningham said he kept
his windows rolled up and drove to his residence. He told the deputy he didn’t
speak to anyone on scene. He said he then decided he was going back to the
scene to speak with the “very rude” medic. He walked back to the paramedics, but he said he never became belligerent with anyone -- they were the ones
who became belligerent with him.
While the deputy was speaking with Cunningham, he noticed that the man’s
face kept getting redder and his hands were shaking. He kept interrupting the
deputy when he tried to speak. He told him, “I’m done talking to you.”
The deputy tried to reason with the man, but Cunningham became angrier
and still wouldn’t let him speak.
Cunningham eventually told the deputy, “You might was well take me to
jail.” So, the officer did just that.
Cunningham is being charged with obstructing officer. He was released on
a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
July 30, 2015.

Atoka man Kenneth Leroy Kurtz Jr.,
43, tried to tell an officer that he stole an
air conditioner from a nearby apartment
because he thought the owner had deserted the residence. That just didn’t make
sense, because he allegedly stole other
items as well, including a flashlight, a hair
dryer, a shoe shine kit and some toiletries.
On June 22, an Atoka police officer was
dispatched to the 300 block of S. Pennsylvania Street around 9 p.m. to take a
theft report. The victim said a few days
before, he came home to his apartment
and found that the front living room window was broken and his air conditioner unit was missing from the
window. Other items were also missing from the apartment.
On June 23, the victim called police back to his residence. He told
an officer he believed one of his neighbors, identified as Kurtz, had
stolen the air conditioner. The victim said he located the air conditioner in one of Kurtz’s windows.
When the officer looked outside, he saw an air conditioner unit
sticking out from the window of the suspect’s apartment. When police spoke to Kurtz, officers noticed “numerous discrepancies” with
the details and information about how he had purchased the air conditioner from an individual. He told an officer he would just give him
the air conditioner unit, because he didn’t want any trouble.
Kurtz didn’t keep up the act for long, though -- he eventually admitted to taking the air conditioning unit from the victim’s apartment. He said he didn’t force his way into the apartment. The front
door was left open, so he took the air conditioner because he didn’t
want the landlord throwing it away.
Kurtz also gave the deputy the stolen flashlight.
According to the police report, Kurtz was a convicted felon and had
a “very lengthy” fingerprint-based criminal arrest record.
Kurtz is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property.
His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on July 1, 2015.

A pre-school teacher and her husband are accused of chaining their 14-yearold twin sons to furniture and beating them as a form of punishment.
Brian and Shauna Paque of Texas were both arrested in April and charged
with child abuse after one of their sons ran crying to a Decatur police headquarters.
The parents were recently released on bond and Shauna Paque resigned
from her job as a pre-school teacher for the Decatur school district where she
was an employee for 11 years. Brian Paque is also a former teacher.
Reports state the boy had a bruised throat, a footprint on his back, and other
injuries when he arrived at police headquarters.
'[He] came through the door crying and everything, just begging for help,'
said Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins.
The boy told police that his mother choked him and hit him over the head
with a pan.
Police found the boy's twin brother at an apartment complex nearby.
He told police that his father unchained him so he could look for his brother
who ran off with a camera.
In the arrest affidavit, Shauna Paque admitted to choking her son while trying to get a camera away from him with footage of the alleged abuse to prevent him from giving it
to the authorities.
'He got a video camera and he was going to film his mother beating his brother,' Hoskins said.
Shauna Paque later guided police to her home where she hid the chains used to restrain her
sons.
She showed police how she used the chains to attach her sons to furniture.
'Shauna wrapped the chain around Investigator Pawley's ankles a couple of times, then advised
that they would use a padlock to lock the chains in place,' said an officer.
Shauna and Brian Paque are free on $20,000 in bond and face multiple felonies. The boys told
police the abuse has been going on for over 10 years.
'They told us this abuse they were describing to us had been going on since they were four,'
Hoskins said.
The boys were removed from the home by Child Services until an investigation is complete.

A Wright City man was arrested June 11 after he allegedly threatened a man with a big knife and exposed himself to his sister.
According to the police report, a McCurtain County deputy was
dispatched to the 1100 block of Nanachito Road shortly after 9 p.m.
to investigate a disturbance. A woman told the deputy her brother,
47-year-old Wesley Brin Miller, had caused quite the evening. She
said she stepped outside of her house earlier, because she heard
Miller “spin out” of the driveway. She knew her son had taken a walk
down to the river. She asked another man at the residence where
Miller was going -- he told her he was going after her son.
The woman called the police. Miller wasn’t gone for long, and
when he returned, he was waving around a big knife and exposing
his penis.
The woman’s son said he was taking a walk, and Miller drove by in his truck. The man
waved a “big” knife at him and showed him his junk.
Luckily, the victim managed to catch Miller’s antics on video.
In the video, the deputy saw Miller walking around the yard with a “large kitchen-type”
knife. He appeared to be yelling something at the woman and her son.
And, oh yeah -- the video showed Miller pulling down his shorts and exposing himself to
his sister and nephew.
The knife wielding-man is being charged with outraging public decency. He is scheduled to
appear in court on August 27, 2015. Bond information was unknown at time of print.

DOMESTIC a&B BAIL JUMPING
A Checotah man caught by a game camera trying to
break into his neighbor’s residence told police he only did
it because he wanted to see how long it would take for them
to respond to the call.
40-year-old Joshua C. Tanner was arrested June 18 because it’s kind of against the law to break into other people’s homes, regardless of the reason.
According to the affidavit, McIntosh County deputies
were dispatched to a residence on S. 4192 Road around 1
p.m. because the house alarm was going off. The homeowner was gone when police made it to the house, but he
arrived shortly after and told them he may have taken a
picture of the thief with a hidden game camera.
When police saw the man, they recognized him as Tanner -- and he only lived a couple of
houses down from the victim. The victim said there was $1,500 worth of damage to his house
from the burglary.
Deputies went to Tanner’s residence and placed him under arrest. Once they arrived at the
jail, he explained it all.
Tanner told police that he went to the victim’s house the day before and removed a motion
detector he believed was part of an alarm system. He said he then used a bar to break the
doors and locks on the house. When the alarm went off, he left the residence and went to a
nearby convenience store.
Tanner told the deputies he wanted to see how long it would take for them to respond to
the alarm call.
Tanner is being charged with attempted burglary in the second degree, petit larceny, possession of burglary tools and trespassing after being forbidden. His bond was set at $5,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 20, 2015.
