We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Police say they arrested a Cameron man for drugs after they were
dispatched to his location for a domestic dispute on May 31.
According to the affidavit, an off
duty officer was on patrol when he
saw a physical domestic situation at
the intersection of Highway 112 and
Old Highway 112. He stopped to separate the fighting parties, and a Rock
Island police officer arrived to assist.
A woman told police that she and
Scott Thomas Shoup, 39, had gotten
into an argument while driving to
her house.
Shoup told police the woman had been accusing him of a lot of different things, and he was tired of it. He said the woman tried to jump
out of the window while the truck was moving, and he was just trying
to keep her from jumping out.
Police determined that it looked like Shoup had indeed been trying
to stop her from jumping. The officer went back to Shoup and asked
him if there were any weapons or drugs in his vehicle. Shoup told
him, “There are no weapons.” Then he paused.
The officer asked him if there were any drugs in the truck, and
Shoup told him there was a meth pipe under the driver’s seat. The officer found the pipe, along with a straw with residue and two baggies
that contained a white crystal-like substance. The substance later
field-tested positive for meth.
The officer asked Shoup if all of the items were his, and Shoup told
him yes.
Shoup is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was
scheduled to appear in court on June 13, 2014.

A Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputy positioned along State Road 415, in Osteen, Fla.,
spotted a car go by and noticed the passenger - a rather large man - wasn’t wearing his seat

passenger were nervous. And he also noticed that the passenger still wasn’t wearing his seat
belt.
Schuylkill County residents may want to think twice about drinking the water after a Pennsylvania water plant employee was charged with urinating into a filtering unit while he was
at work back in April. Paul Herb allegedly peed into a filter while he was working for the
Schuylkill County Municipal Authority. The SCMA treats drinking water for people living in
the area around Pottsville.
A Montana man was arrested for driving under the influence after Gallatin County deputies
say he drove drunk to bail his wife out of jail for her DUI arrest hours earlier.
62-year-old Rick Fancher of Big Sky was arrested and charged with this third DUI.
Prosecutors say jail staff reported Fancher left the jail at 3:30 a.m. after trying to post bond
for 44-year-old Stacey Jo Fancher. She had been arrested for aggravated DUI with a bloodalcohol level of 0.201. A deputy stopped Rick Fancher’s pickup near the jail. Court records say
his blood-alcohol level was 0.159.
An Orange City, Fla., woman has been accused of trying to shoplift seven lobster tails from
a Publix by stuffing them down her pants. The tails are priced at $11.99 a piece, so Nichole
Reed was allegedly trying to swipe almost $84 worth of seafood. According to police, the
30-year-old planned to swap the shellfish with a friend for some Chinese food. Reed also said
that she might have attempted to trade the tails for Dilaudid, a painkiller. The Chinese food
was put on hold as Reed was charged with theft from a merchant and taken to the Volusia
County Branch Jail.
Casselberry, Fla., Police have identified the cross-dressing burglar and his accomplice who
allegedly stole 18 TVs from Wal-Mart over nearly a month period.
James William May, the cross dresser, and Andre Deshawn Williams, 23, stole the TVs
through the roof of the gardening center in burglaries at store from April 12 to May 19. Although the store is open 24 hours, the gardening center is closed at night. They managed to
climb up shelving, hoist up the TVs and slip them through fabric panels that acted as the ceiling in the gardening center, police said in a report. In all, they took 18 TVs and one desktop
computer with a total value of about $10,000.

It must have been God’s plan for Soper man Johnny Wayne Trent Jr., 33, to
go to the Choctaw County Jail on June
8.
According to the affidavit, Boswell police found Trent walking northbound on
Highway 109 while swinging his arms
and talking to himself. They stopped to
ask if he was OK, and he replied, “Where
do you need me to go next.”
An officer asked Trent whom he was
talking to, and the wanderer explained
that he needed to know where God
wanted him to go next.
If his behavior was to be any indication, it was straight to jail. They
do say God works in mysterious ways!
When asked about drug and alcohol use, Trent told police he had
drank one beer and smoked some marijuana and Somo. The officers
decided to arrest him, due to his admission and their perception that
he was “definitely under the influence of either or both drugs and
alcohol.”
As they approached Trent to place him in handcuffs, he kept putting his hands in his pockets. He finally complied with officer commands to keep them out, but when asked if there was anything sharp
in his pockets, Trent said he didn’t know.
An officer attempted to search him, but Trent started throwing
punches at the officers and attempted to get away from police. A
struggle ensued and ended with Trent getting sprayed with mace.
Another officer arrived to assist putting Trent in the patrol vehicle,
but Trent began kicking that officer before he was finally locked up
in the back of a cop car.
Trent was definitely not heaven sent!
Trent is being charged with two counts of battery/ assault on a
police officer, resisting an officer and public intoxication. He is being held in lieu on a $60,000 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on July 29, 2014.

A&B ON PEACE OFFICER
An Oklahoma City man was arrested after he broke into an Enid bar because he allegedly
told police God told him to.
It gets crazier.
When an Enid officer arrived at the bar in the 3600 block of E. Market, the owner of the bar
told him that she had found a man in her establishment.
The man, Joe Don Ong, 47, told the officer in very fast speech that he wasn’t breaking any
laws and he was told to go to the bar. Ong was holding a small dog.
The officer asked him who told him to go to the bar, and Ong told him God, according to the
affidavit.
Ong quickly explained that he knew it sounded crazy, but it wasn’t.
Oh, good.
Ong said it wasn’t crazy because he was no longer smoking synthetic weed — he was now smoking the real stuff.
Wait, what?
The officer asked him how long it had been since he smoked the real weed, and Ong told him he just did and he
had some in his pocket. The officer told Ong to place his hands behind his back. He placed Ong in handcuffs and
found a burnt marijuana cigarette in his pocket.
The officer took Ong to his patrol vehicle. Ong told him that everything was OK, because he took down the sign.
The officer later found out that Ong had removed a sign from the door that said no pets were allowed in the bar.
The officer also found out Ong made himself at home while in the bar. He moved a mat from the bathroom to
the front porch, rearranged pool cues and T-shirts, brought his own pool balls into the bar, set up a table, spread
some of his clothing out in the bar, drank a soda and moved a white cash register. He also left a pair of boots, a pet
carrier, papers, a glove and a straw hat in the business.
During a search of Ong’s vehicle, police found rolling papers and another marijuana cigarette.
Ong is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia and breaking and entering dwelling without permission. His bond was set at $2,500 and he is
scheduled to appear in court on July 7, 2014.

Red Oak man David Terryl Melton, 28, told a deputy “it
was fun while it lasted” after he was caught lying about the
ownership of his truck.
According to the affidavit, a Latimer County deputy pulled
over Melton’s vehicle on May 25 on Salonia Road because the
man’s vehicle had a broken windshield and he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.
When he made contact with Melton, Melton told him the
truck was his friend’s, and he was thinking about buying it, so
he took it for a test drive.
He seemed nervous and told the trooper, “I don’t think
there is anything illegal in the truck, maybe beer cans.”
The deputy asked him why he would say that. Melton said
he didn’t know.
Melton gave the deputy permission to search his truck, and
the deputy found more than beer cans. There was a scale,
pills, a pipe containing a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and
other items.
As is that wasn’t bad enough, dispatch advised that Melton’s driver’s license was suspended/revoked and that the truck was registered in his name.
The deputy placed Melton under arrest and told him he had found a glass pipe. When he
showed it to him, Melton told him, “That’s not mine.”
When asked about the drug paraphernalia, Melton replied, “That’s not my truck.”
During a secondary search of the vehicle, police found another pipe with a powder on it
and Q-tips.
The deputy explained to Melton that the truck was registered in his name. Melton said that
the bed wasn’t the original truck bed. The deputy checked the VIN number on the vehicle,
and sure enough, it was still registered to Melton.
When the deputy asked why he kept lying to him, Melton replied, “I don’t know. Guess it
was fun while it lasted.”
Melton is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with license suspended/revoked, failure to maintain security, failure to pay taxes due to state and defective vehicle. He was released on a
$10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2014.

An Antlers man was caught with meth
while he was pulled over retrieving road kill
to feed to his dog.
According to the affidavit, a Pushmataha
deputy was patrolling Highway 2 on June 1
when he saw a vehicle parked on the side of
the road with its lights on. He stopped to see
if the people involved needed help.
The deputy walked to the driver’s door and
made contact with Russell Neal McKenzie,
51. McKenzie appeared to he very nervous,
and he told the deputy he had pulled over to
pick up a rabbit he had run over to feed to his dog.
The deputy asked McKenzie to sit in his patrol car while he checked
his information.
While waiting on dispatch, the deputy asked McKenzie if he had
ever been in trouble. McKenzie admitted that he had been caught
with meth in 2003.
Dispatch advised that McKenzie’s information was good, but McKenzie appeared to be getting more nervous.
The deputy asked McKenzie if there was anything illegal on him or
in his truck.
McKenzie said no and gave the deputy permission to look.
The men exited the car, but the deputy noticed that McKenzie was
trying to get rid of something from the right side of his body. The
deputy asked him what he was getting rid of; McKenzie told him
nothing. He said he thought about getting rid of it but didn’t.
In McKenzie’s pocket, there were two vials that contained a white
crystal substance and a cut straw. The substance tested positive for
methamphetamine.
The officer placed McKenzie under arrest and transported him to
jail.
McKenzie is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He
was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on June 18, 2014.

Baseball — America’s favorite pastime.
The sound of bats, the cheering of
fans and intoxicated men passing out
at the concession stand.
Wait, what?
Or maybe that’s only in Hartshorne.
According to the affidavit, a state
trooper came in contact with Jack
Charles Maxwell, 30, at Hartshorne
Baseball Field on June 3, because the
Krebs man was extremely unsteady on
his feet. He had been trying to order
something at the concession stand, but
passed out while he was doing so.
A man who had been observing Maxwell’s behavior told the trooper that something was wrong with him.
The trooper found Maxwell standing in front of the concession
stand, barely able to stand up. He walked him over to the bleachers
and asked him what was wrong with him. Maxwell told the trooper
in extremely slurred speech that he was just tired.
While the trooper was attempting to speak to Maxwell, the man
kept passing out. Maxwell eventually admitted that he had just
smoked K2 in the woods near the baseball field, and he said he didn’t
have anymore.
The trooper asked him if he had some in his shorts and Maxwell
motioned yes. The trooper found a green leafy substance he believed
to be K2 in Maxwell’s shorts. A Hartshorne officer arrived and transported Maxwell to jail.
Maxwell is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and public
intoxication. He was released on a personal recognizance bond and
is scheduled to appear in court on July 3, 2014.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A drunk Wardville man, who was armed with a 30 pack of
beer and asking people for money, told an officer he was going to “cause hell” if he was taken to the drunk tank.
On June 1, a Coalgate police officer responded to reports
of a man begging for money at a convenience store on South
Broadway and Post Street.
According to the affidavit, the officer made contact with the
suspect, 32-year-old Bobby Joe Harris, as the man staggered
out of the store. The officer immediately smelled the strong
odor of alcohol, and he asked Harris how much he had had
to drink.
Harris replied, “Not much.”
If the 30 pack of beer under his arm was any indication,
Harris liked to drink a little more beer than “not much.”
The officer followed him as he took the beer to a friend’s
vehicle; he then placed Harris under arrest.
During booking, the drunken man became irate and started making threats. That’s when
Harris told the officer he would cause hell if he was placed in the drunk tank.
Guess what? The officer placed him in the drunk tank, and there was no hell caused.
Three women arrived at the jail and asked to speak to the officer. They told him Harris had
approached them at another convenience store and told them his girlfriend had kicked him
out of the vehicle and he needed money to get to McAlester.
One of the good-hearted women said she told Harris she only had $20, but he said it was
fine and he took the money.
Another gave him $5.
Harris then miraculously drove from the store (thought he had been kicked out?), so the
women followed him to the convenience store where he would later be arrested. They told
the officer they watched as Harris bought beer at the store with their money and begged the
cashier for free food to sober up with.
According to the police report, Harris also had warrants out of Coalgate for his arrest.
Harris is being charged with obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check/false pretenses and public intoxication. His bond was set at $1,500, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on June 20, 2014.

Madill woman Brenda Lynette-Fern Tucker, 25, told police she was selling marijuana for money to take care of her
felony charges after she was pulled over in Bryan County
for not wearing a seatbelt.
Just keep digging that hole deeper, Tucker!
On June 6, a Calera police officer saw Tucker’s vehicle
traveling westbound on East McKennon. According to the
affidavit, Tucker wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. He pulled the
vehicle over on Highway 69.
Tucker told him that she often forgets to wear her seatbelt, and she was sorry.
While speaking to her, the officer smelled alcohol.
He asked who had been drinking. The male passenger
told the officer he had been.
The officer had Tucker and the man exit the vehicle so
he could search for open containers. As soon as he entered
the vehicle, the officer saw a cigarette box that was partially
open. Inside the box was a green leafy substance. He showed it to Tucker and asked her if
there was any more.
She said she wasn’t sure, then told him there was more in the center console.
An officer looked in the center console of the truck and found a big bag that contained a
large amount of a green leafy substance. In Tucker’s purse, the officer found a bag containing
a green substance and a pipe with a green leafy substance inside.
Tucker said the passenger was her brother, and he didn’t know about the drugs in the car.
She said the drugs were for personal use, but later admitted that she sometimes sells “the
occasional joint to friends.”
Tucker said she drove from Madill to purchase the marijuana.
Tucker’s brother passed a field sobriety tests and preliminary breath tests.
On the way to jail, Tucker told the officer, “OK, here’s the truth.” She told him she had
gotten into some trouble and because of a typo in the court system, she was unable to get a
court-appointed attorney for felony charges she was facing in another county. She said she
was selling marijuana to raise money to get the other charges taken care of.
Tucker is being charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to distribute,
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to carry insurance/ security verification
form and failure to wear seatbelt. She was released on an $11,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on July 9, 2014.

Atoka man Andrew Jordan Davis,
23, was arrested on June 7 after he
admitted to shooting at a car with a
BB gun.
According to the affidavit, Atoka
police were advised of a shooting in
a gas station parking lot in the 300
block of S. Mississippi. Dispatch advised the suspects had turned into an
alley near some apartments.
Police found the suspect vehicle
and made the passengers get out of
the car.
They asked a backseat passenger,
identified as Davis, what had happened at the gas station. Davis told them he had shot at a vehicle with
a BB gun, hitting the back window of the car. Davis said he threw the
gun in the bushes, but police were unable to locate it.
While inventorying the vehicle, an officer found a bottle without a
prescription label. Inside the bottle were Carisoprodol pills, a schedule 3 prescription. All of the passengers denied ownership of the pills.
The officer also found an open can of beer, but once again, the passengers said no one had been drinking.
Unfortunately for Davis, he smelled like alcohol. He admitted to
drinking a few beers “two hours ago.”
The officer transported Davis to jail.
During booking, a jailer found a syringe that Davis had inside his
clothing. Residue inside of the syringe tested positive for methamphetamine.
Davis is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon,
bringing contraband into jail and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. His bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on June 18, 2014.

If you asked ten different
people, you might get
ten different answers.
Some might say that sin is
“doing something wrong
or breaking the law,” while
others might say that sin
is “hurting another person
or taking an innocent life.”
Still others might deny the
very existence of sin, saying
that there is no such thing
as right or wrong– in short, that there are no real absolutes in this world.
However, most people agree (regardless of culture) that there are certain
actions that are wrong, and should be punishable by fines, imprisonment or
even death.
Even the person who “doesn’t believe in right or wrong” would have a hard
time observing a maniac rape and murder a small child, and say that what
happened to them was not a crime.
Sin is a terminal disease that eats away at the very heart of this planet. It
destroys individual people, families, cultures, even the earth itself. Our world
is defiled by it, yet most people cannot even give a definition of the word, or
grasp the true gravity of the situation. What is sin? Surely sin is more that ten
different opinions from ten different people. Is there any final authority on
this subject?
The Bible says that sin is a heart condition. It is a condition of rebellion
against God, which stems from pride. The Bible even refers to pride as
“original sin.” The Hebrew definition of the word sin means “to miss the
mark.” God created us to be like Him, but our pride and rebellion make us
fall far short of that purpose. Our actions, though they may be “sinful” are
really only the fruit of our rebellion against God. Our outward actions merely
mirror our true inner condition. It is our true inner condition that God is
concerned with. He knows the “real you” better than you yourself do, because
he sees “the inner man” and all your secret thoughts and motives.

KNOWINGLY CONCEALING
STOLEN PROPERTY
An intoxicated Eufaula man was so
pissed after a clerk wouldn’t sell him beer
that he broke an antique gum ball machine before leaving the store.
A McIntosh County deputy was dispatched to a store in Stidham on May 31
about a drunk man causing problems, the
affidavit states.
According to a woman who worked
at the store, 53-year-old Ronald Lee
Hawkins had walked into the store and
started harassing and cussing at customers.
The employee said he threw his hands
up at her, broke an antique gum ball machine and became angry
when she wouldn’t sell him any beer.
She said Hawkins left the store, and started walking in the direction of his home.
The deputy saw Hawkins sitting on a storm drain north of the
store. He asked if he had been at the store, and Hawkins told him
they wouldn’t sell him any beer, so he got mad and left.
Hawkins stood up, and the deputy noticed that he was unsteady on
his feet and smelled like alcohol. He asked Hawkins if he had been
drinking, but Hawkins told the deputy he was heading home and to
leave him alone.
The deputy asked him if he had any trouble at the store, and
Hawkins again stated that she wouldn’t sell him beer so he got mad
and walked out. When the deputy asked about the gum ball machine,
Hawkins started to walk away.
The deputy told him to place his hands behind his back because he
was under arrest, but Hawkins pulled away from him and told him
no. The deputy was eventually able to get Hawkins in cuffs.
When police asked him if he needed medical attention, he told
them he just wanted his beer.
Hawkins is being charged with obstructing an officer and public
intoxication. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on August 15, 2014.
He just wanted his beer!

An Arizona man arrested for unlawfully discharging a
firearm told authorities that he was trying to shoot the
moon.
Prescott Valley police responded to the home after a
woman reported that her boyfriend had fired several
shots from a handgun and still was armed.
The woman and her teenage son told police that
39-year-old Cameron Read was talking about seeing
Halley’s Comet and fired a round out of the window.
They heard several more shots before fleeing.
Police say Read has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on suspicion
of felony counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest, disorderly

Keota man Roger Dale Ball, 48, told an officer he just wanted to take a nap when his truck ran out of gas on June 2.
Unfortunately for Ball, he was drunk, had an open can of
beer and shouldn’t have been driving in the first place because
he didn’t have a driver’s license.
You can nap in jail!
According to the affidavit, a Keota police officer was dispatched to North Sixth Street because there was a suspicious
person in a truck. That suspicious person was Ball, and when
the officer found him, it was no wonder someone had called!
The officer approached Ball’s truck and noticed that the
driver’s side wing window was busted out and there was glass
on the roadway. When the officer asked what happened, Ball
told him that he busted it out because he locked his keys in
the truck.
The officer then asked Ball what he was doing. Ball had a perfectly good explanation: his
truck had run out of gas and he was about to take a nap. The officer, knowing that he didn’t
have a driver’s license, asked him how he drove his truck to town.
Ball showed his rebel side, and told the officer he drove it.
While speaking with Ball, the officer saw an unopened can of beer in the seat. Ball admitted that he had been drinking. The officer asked him to step out of the truck, but Ball once
again played the rebel. He shut the door, turned the key on and started to roll up the window.
The officer was unable to open the door, and he threatened to break (the rest of) the window if Ball didn’t open it. Ball opened the door, but refused to step out. The officer physically
took him out of the truck and placed him in handcuffs.
The officer explained why he was being arrested, but Ball’s speech was so slurred that the
officer couldn’t understand what he was saying.
While doing an inventory of Ball’s truck, the officer found an open can of beer in the passenger floorboard.
Ball is being charged with public intoxication, driving with license canceled/suspended/
revoked and transporting an opened container of beer. He was released on a $1,500 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2014.

A Broken Bow man was caught red-handed stealing metal racks
from a grocery store and selling them to a recycling place on June 7.
According to the affidavit, a grocery store employee told Broken
Bow police that a man had driven up to the back of the store, loaded
up some racks, then drove off.
An officer located the suspect vehicle loading up more metal behind a building on First Street and North Park. He made contact
with John Wesley Harden, 42, and told him that a vehicle matching the description of his had just left the grocery store with stolen
racks.
Harden said he had been given permission to take the racks. Multiple employees at the store said no one had given the man permission to take them.
Police placed Harden and the female under arrest, and transported them to the police department for questioning.
While inventorying the vehicle, an officer found a backpack that had two syringes and recycling receipts. The syringes tested positive for meth.
Harden’s girlfriend told police he had woken her up earlier that morning and told her he
wanted to load scrap iron. When she told him she didn’t feel like it, Harden told her she was
his girl and she needed to be with him.
She said she went with him to avoid an argument. She said they went to the store, loaded
up the racks and took them to the recycling place. She added that Harden had taken racks
from the store twice.
Harden told police he had inquired about the racks two weeks prior. He said an employee
told him he could take them because they had been there for a long time.
As for the backpack? Harden said the syringes were in the bag when he found it in a dumpster.
He told police that the bag should also have a porn magazine inside of it.
All of the employees Harden said he spoke to denied giving Harden permission to take the
racks.
Harden is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, petit larceny
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $12,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2014.
