We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

You would drink too if you were
under the same amount of stress as
Whitesboro woman Amie Eugenia
Pugh, 29.
At least, that’s what she claimed
when she was arrested on May 16 for
driving under the influence.
According to the police report, a Leflore County deputy was dispatched
to the area around the ball fields in
Whitesboro due to reports of a white
vehicle driving recklessly around the
area.
He located the vehicle and initiated
a traffic stop as it pulled into a residence on Highway 63.
He made contact with Pugh, the driver, and noticed that she smelled
like alcohol and appeared to be under the influence of something.
He asked her if she had been drinking, and she allegedly replied, “I
had a drink. Maybe one.”
The deputy wasn’t satisfied with her “maybe,” and he asked her to
step out of the vehicle.
While doing so, he noticed that there were three children in the
backseat of the car.
Pugh performed poorly on the sobriety tests, and finally broke
down while begging the deputy not to take her to jail.
According to the arresting officer, she told him that she “only drank
because she was under so much stress,” and that “anyone would drink
if they were under as much stress as me.”
The deputy placed her under arrest. Under the driver’s side floorboard in Pugh’s car, he found an opened bottle of whiskey.
Pugh is being charged with child endangerment while driving under the influence and transporting an open bottle or container of liquor. She was released on a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear
in court on June 2, 2014.

Duncan man Harold Brant Gentry, 53, tried to conceal the fact that he was in
possession of marijuana by hiding the drugs the best way he knew how: eating it.
This gives “high munchies” a whole new meaning.
On May 5, a Stephens County deputy pulled over Gentry at Highway 7 and
Hummingbird Lane due to a defective headlight.
According to the affidavit, when he made contact with Gentry, he noticed the
odor of marijuana.
The deputy asked Gentry to step outside in an attempt to see if the smell of
weed was coming from the vehicle or Gentry’s person.
The deputy returned to his patrol vehicle and wrote Gentry a warning for the
headlight. When he gave Gentry the warning, he could still smell marijuana, but he noticed that
the smell appeared to be stronger.
He asked Gentry when he had last smoked marijuana. Gentry told him just before he left work.
Gentry then told the arresting officer, “There is no marijuana in my truck — you can look. I
smoked it before I left work.”
The deputy started to search Gentry’s truck, noting that the smell of marijuana wasn’t as strong
as it had been when he was talking to Gentry.
While he was searching, another deputy that had been speaking to Gentry yelled at him. He
told him that the reason the stench of weed was so strong around Gentry was because Gentry had
eaten the marijuana.
The deputy told Gentry to stick his tongue out. When he did, the deputy saw what appeared to
be chewed up marijuana. He asked Gentry how much he had eaten. Gentry told him “just a joint.”
Gentry is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. He was
released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 18, 2014.

Hugo man Parker Alexander Bills, 27, learned that it’s not OK
to threaten people, even if you do claim that you’re just “joking
around.”
According to the affidavit, a Choctaw Nation Tribal police officer
was advised that there was a possible robbery that had occurred at
the travel plaza on May 23. He spoke to a woman who claimed that
Bills had asked her if she would give him five dollars. When she
told him no, she said Bills told her repeatedly that he was going to
rob her. Obviously, the threat scared her.
The officer located Bills and told him what the victim had
claimed. Bills admitted to making the threat, but told the officer
that he was “joking around.”
The officer then asked permission to search Bills’s person. Bills
granted consent. Bad idea.
The officer found that making threats wasn’t the only thing Bills was fond of doing.
In Bills’s front pocket, the officer found a rolled up sock that smelled like marijuana. In the
sock, there was a pipe, an empty container that smelled like weed, two small clear bags and
“miscellaneous paper.”
The officer, who clearly wasn’t joking around, advised Bills that he was under arrest before
transporting him to jail.
Bills is being charged with threatening to perform an act of violence and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on an OR bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on June 30, 2014.

June’s Officer of the Month Award goes to…
Athena • Pushmataha County
Athena
Officer of the Month
Athena is a K-9 Officer with the Pushmataha
County Sheriff’s Office. She was nominated for
her loyalty and quick action when a deputy
was being assaulted by a suspect. She is one of
three K-9 officers the county has on the street.
On April 8, Antlers dispatch radioed that an
officer needed help on NE A Street in Antlers.
The suspect, Barney Sutterfield, was being
placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant
when he ran from police. After a Pushmahata
deputy later located Satterfield, Satterfield
again resisted arrest and tried to escape. Several times Satterfield was warned to stop resisting or the deputy would release his K-9,
Athena, and he would be bitten. Satterfield did
not heed the warning and began kicking the officer. On her own, Athena bit Sattefield on the
leg. Athena’s actions forced Satterfield to stop assaulting the deputy and taken into custody.
Because of Athena’s quick action, she has been named OK Jailbird’s Top Cop for June, 2014.

Red Oak man Kevin Dale Dugger, 44, was arrested on
May 26 after he couldn’t seem to follow simple traffic laws.
According to the affidavit, a Latimer County deputy
pulled Dugger over after he failed to stop at a stop sign
while traveling eastbound on Highway 82. He also wasn’t
wearing his seatbelt.
When the deputy made contact with Dugger, he noticed
that the man’s pupils were constricted and that he could
not stop moving. Dugger apologized in slurred speech for
not wearing his seatbelt, and begged the deputy not to write
him a ticket.
After getting Dugger’s information, the deputy asked him
to sit in his patrol truck. Dugger agreed, but couldn’t maintain his balance while walking back to the vehicle.
The deputy asked Dugger if he was taking any medications. Dugger told him he takes about 10 meds a day, but he
denied using anything illegal. He told the deputy to search
his vehicle if he didn’t believe him.
When the deputy asked Dugger what he took that would make his eyes constrict so much,
Dugger replied, “Nothing, but they are a little glossy.”
Sadly, the deputy also noticed fresh track marks down both of Dugger’s arms that were
consistent with recent drug use.
Dugger performed poorly on the field sobriety tests. The deputy placed him under arrest.
Dugger then told police that he was a “speed head” and couldn’t stay still if he tried. He
said he hadn’t taken anything illegal in a month and a half. Not soon after, he told another
officer that he had not done meth in three or four days.
The deputy asked him why he lied about his drug use, but Dugger said he didn’t lie — it had
been about a week since he had last used meth.
Dugger asked the deputy if they could have his brother bring them his medication. His
brother brought the meds, but the deputy noticed that a recently filled bottle was already
empty, even though it shouldn’t have been, according to the dosage amount on the bottle.
Dugger told the deputy it was because he eats more than he is supposed to, so he just takes
all of the pills when he can get them.
Dugger is being charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He was released on a
$1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 5, 2014.

A Hodgen woman was caught camping out where she wasn’t supposed to
be with items she wasn’t supposed to
have.
A Clayton police officer arrested
38-year-old Heather Ladon Franklin
for being in an abandoned house at
Eighth and Vanhorn that she didn’t
have permission to be in.
According to the affidavit, the officer
was on routine patrol May 24 when
he drove by the abandoned home.
He knew from past incidents that the
owner of the home had requested extra patrol around the house because
people had been breaking into it.
The officer noticed that there was a window opened on the house,
and he stopped to investigate.
When he looked in the window, he saw Franklin lying on a bed. He
identified himself and told her to put her hands up. She asked him
what he was doing. He told her to climb out the window. She did,
and the officer detained her while he figured out what was going on.
The owner of the property advised him that Franklin did not have
permission to be inside the house. The officer arrested Franklin and
went back into the house to get Franklin’s items she left in the room.
He found three bags. Franklin told him they were hers, and she admitted that there was some meth in one of the bags.
The officer transported her to jail and inventoried her items.
He found several items that have residue from methamphetamine,
including a pen, a straw and tin foil. He also found a marijuana leaf.
All of the items tested positive for drugs.
Franklin is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and breaking and entering dwelling without permission. She is
being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on June 11, 2014.

A McAlester man was arrested for allegedly attacking his
wife because he said she didn’t fix dinner and he was pissed
off.
On May 21, a Pittsburg County deputy was dispatched to a
residence in the 300 block of the Highway 69 bypass for a domestic assault.
When he arrived, he saw what appeared to be a very angry
man get out of a car behind the residence. According to the affidavit, the deputy told the man that he wanted to talk to him.
The man, identified as Ricky Darrell Southard, 46, told the
deputy to get the hell off his property, and that he was going
into his house to eat.
The deputy approached Southard to keep him from going
into the house. Southard acting as though he was going to fight
the deputy, so the deputy pulled out his Taser. He told Southard he would tase him if he tried
to go into the house.
Southard replied, “If you do, there’s going to be big trouble here.”
The deputy asked Southard what happened. Southard said his wife didn’t fix dinner and he
was pissed off. Southard admitted that he told his wife he was going to drive her car into the
pond. He also allegedly said he knocked off the door to their bedroom.
The deputy entered the home to speak to the victim. She had a cut on her eye and marks on
her neck and arms. She said when Southard came home and saw that dinner wasn’t ready,
he hit her with the spatula. She said he also hit her with his fist and started choking her. She
added that he threatened to drive her car into the pond so she couldn’t leave.
The deputy arrested Southard and took him to jail, but Southard’s troubles weren’t over
yet! The jailer found two bags containing a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine on Southard’s person.
Let’s hope he enjoys his meals in jail!
Southard is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and assault
and battery in presence of minor. He was released on a $15,000 bond.
Enjoy your
dinner in jail

It’s not what you think.
While looking to serve a warrant on
an individual, police ran across another wanted person hiding in the backseat of a car.
On May 26, Coal County deputies
went to a residence in Centrahoma
while trying to locate a wanted man.
According to the affidavit, as they were
trying to locate him, they noticed a
vehicle parked at the residence. The
hood of the car was very warm, indicating that it had recently been in
operation. While looking at the car,
police noticed that there was a person
who was trying in vain to hide in the backseat of the car.
They opened the car to make sure that it wasn’t the wanted person — it wasn’t. It was, however, Coalgate woman Carol Lynn Jones,
32, who police knew had an active warrant of $100,000 in Atoka
County.
After some resistance from Jones, a deputy was able to secure
her in handcuffs. In the backseat, he located a purple bag. When
he asked Jones whom the bag belonged to, she replied, “It is mine.”
Inside the bag, the deputy located syringes, baggies containing a
crystal-like substance that tested positive for meth and a silver pipe
with a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana. More
baggies and multiple items of paraphernalia were also located in the
bag.
As if Jones wasn’t already in enough trouble with her warrant!
Jones is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting
an officer. Her bond was set at $23,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on June 5, 2014.

IMPERSONATION
Apparently, some people just
don’t like people near their homes
— or something like that.
A Bokchito man was arrested for
assault and battery after he allegedly attacked another man with a
knife for no apparent reason, other than the man was walking in an
alley near his residence.
According to the police report, a
Bokchito police officer was advised
in the early morning hours of May
21 that a stabbing had occurred,
and the stabbing victim was in the
200 block of North Albright.
When the officer arrived, the
stabbing victim told him that he
had been walking in an alley in the 200 block of Brackett earlier that
night when a man confronted him. The victim said the man, identified as 35-year-old J.D. Driggers, started cussing at him and threatening him.
During the confrontation, the victim said Driggers pulled out a
knife and sliced his chin, resulting in a one-and-a-half inch-long cut
that required five stitches. The victim said that he attempted to walk
away from Driggers, but Driggers apparently wasn’t done with him
yet. According to the victim, Driggers went into his house, but he
soon walked back outside with a pistol.
The victim said at no time during his walk or the confrontation was
he on Driggers’s property.
The officer went to the address, located Driggers and placed him
under arrest before transporting him to jail.
Driggers is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was released on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on June 5, 2014.

Just because you built it doesn’t
mean you can burn it!
Boswell man William Wayne Wilson, 40, was taken to jail after he admitted to burning down a shed that he
claimed he built.
Problem was, it wasn’t his shed to
burn. The arsonist didn’t see it that
way, however.
According to the affidavit, an Atoka
County officer was dispatched to a
business in Boswell due to a shed being set on fire. A witness told him that
he saw the victim’s son enter the shed
and stay in there for a few minutes before leaving.
The witness said he then took a shower, but when he got out, he
noticed that it was bright outside. It wasn’t the sun — the shed was
on fire!
Later that day, the officer was advised that Wilson was hanging
around the area of the burnt shed. While searching for Wilson, the
officer saw his truck and turned around to initiate a traffic stop. Wilson had already pulled over and was waiting for the officer.
Wilson denied starting the fire, but after the officer told him a witness had seen him enter the building, he confessed.
He allegedly told the officer, “Yeah, I built the shed so I went up
there and burnt the damn thing.”
The officer arrested Wilson for arson and asked him what he started the fire with. Wilson told him he started the fire with diesel that
was in a garden sprayer in the back of his truck.
During an inventory of the truck, the officer also located a blue
lighter on the dash. Wilson admitted that the lighter was used in the
fire.
Wilson is being charged with third-degree arson. His bond was set
at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 4, 2014.

Checotah man George Franklin Miller, 47, was arrested on
May 20 after he allegedly shot his neighbor’s dog from the
window of his truck.
According to the affidavit, McIntosh County deputies were
dispatched to a residence on Apex Road west of Checotah due
to a shooting.
A man told them that he heard five gunshots fired in the
front of his residence.
When he went to investigate, he saw that his dog had been
shot. The victim said that a truck driven by Miller pulled into
his driveway three houses down.
The owners insisted that their dog never left the yard and
was not vicious.
At the reporting party’s house, there was blood covering the
steps and porch.
Fortunately for the owner, the dog was treated by a vet and survived the shooting.
Unfortunately for Miller, he stupidly shot a dog.
A deputy made contact with Miller and asked him what he had done that day, and if he
had had any problems with his neighbor’s dog.
Miller said no. The deputy told him his neighbor’s dog had been shot, and asked him if
he knew anything about it. Miller once again said no, but he admitted that he had a rifle
in the home.
The deputy asked to see it, and noticed that the bullets inside the gun matched those
found at the victim’s home. The deputy asked him again if he had problems with the
neighbor’s dog.
Miller said yes, and told the deputy that he shot the dog because it was on his property.
The deputy asked to see where he shot the dog, but there was no blood or shell casings
near the spot. Miller then admitted that he shot the dog from his truck while driving in
front of the neighbor’s house.
While speaking to Miller, the deputy noticed an odor of alcohol. He asked Miller if he
wanted to complete a statement. Miller told him he would, but he didn’t want to.
According to the police report, Miller was a convicted felon and not eligible to possess
a firearm.
Miller is being charged with cruelty to animals and possession of firearm after former
felony conviction. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
July 23, 2014.

Oh, to be young again…
Police have arrested a high school sophomore after they learned she gave them a false
name and is actually 31 years old.
KLTV reported the Longview, Texas, investigation found Charity Anne Johnson is 31.
Johnson was enrolled at New Life Christian
School as “Charity Stevens.”
School officials said a person claiming to be
her guardian brought her to enroll.
She gave the school a fake birth date that
would have made her 15.
The school discovered her false identity Tuesday.
She has been at student at the school since October 2013.
Resident Tamica Lincoln said Charity told her she was 15 and needed a place to stay back in March.
“I sympathized with her and invited her into my home,” Lincoln told
KLTV. “I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes.”
Lincoln said Charity claimed she was abused by her biological father
and that her mother was dead.
Lincoln told KLTV she acted as Charity’s guardian and even met
with Charity’s 10th grade teachers at New Life Christian School.
“I just don’t know why she did it,” Lincoln said. “Why put yourself
and others at risk to do something like this? I have deep concerns
about her being who, we don’t know she is, and then she’s out there
at the school.”
Lincoln said she called police and went straight to the school as soon
as soon as she realized Charity was using a fake identity.
“Teachers were crying and students were crying and her best friend
just couldn’t believe it,” Lincoln said.
Johnson was arrested for failure to identify/giving false, fictitious
information.
KLTV said she is in the Gregg County Jail on $500 bond.

Police say a Stigler man, who apparently becomes angry when drinking, was arrested in the early morning
hours of May 22. He allegedly started
a fight, and hit his brother and sister
during a drunken rampage.
So much for brotherly love!
According to the affidavit, a Stigler
police officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of SE Eighth.
When he arrived, he observed a male
and female standing in the front yard.
The woman told the officer that her
brother, 20-year-old Dustin Bidwell,
had come home earlier that night
drunk as a skunk. She said the he started fighting with her and hit
her. Their younger brother stepped in and tried to protect her.
The younger man told the officer the same account, and said that
he saw Bidwell start a fight with his sister and hit her. The man had
scratch marks on his neck and shoulder and a bite mark on his calf.
The officer entered the residence to speak with Bidwell about the
incident. Bidwell appeared to be very intoxicated. He had a bloody
nose and several scratched on his shoulders.
When the officer asked him what happened, Bidwell said he was
just trying to go to bed and had not been fighting with anyone.
Yeah, that totally explains the bloody nose.
The officer placed him under arrest and transported him to the
Haskell County Jail.
Bidwell is being charged with two counts of domestic abuse. His
bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
June 2, 2014.

For the love of God, let her have her teeth!
An Idabel man was arrested because he refused to return
a pair of dentures to a woman he claimed was doing drugs in
his house.
An Idabel police officer was dispatched to a residence in the
100 block of SE Avenue A on May 23.
The reason? A man would not give a woman her dentures.
According to the affidavit, a woman told him that she had
been staying with William Ray Austin, 38, and earlier that
morning, Austin had woken her up when he was screaming
and yelling at his wife.
The victim said Austin then pulled her hair, hit her and
dragged her out of his house. When she asked him for her
property, the woman said he continued to scream and curse
at her so she called police.
Austin was less than pleased to see the officer, and he kept
yelling and screaming despite the officer’s multiple warnings that he could be arrested for
disturbing the peace.
Austin didn’t seem to care. The officer told the victim to retrieve her property and dentures
that were in a trashcan on Austin’s curb.
Austin continued to yell at the victim, and he told the officer that he believed the woman
was doing drugs and he wanted her to take her dentures and get out of his house.
The officer continued to warn Austin to calm down, and he went to speak with him about
the allegations. Austin slammed the front door in the officer’s face and told him a few choice
words.
The officer attempted to use his Taser to subdue Austin, but a violent physical altercation
ensued inside of the home. Items were broken, all of the officer’s metals and decorations
were ripped off and things fell off the walls due to the fight.
During the altercation, Austin allegedly had a crazy look in his eyes and told the officer that
he was going to kill him. The officer was eventually able to get control of Austin and make
him exclaim, “Ok! Ok! I quit! I quit!”
Austin was arrested and transported to jail, all over a pair of dentures.
Austin is being charged with battery and assault on police officer and disturbing the peace.
His bond was set at $7,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 1, 2014.
