Two Bokoshe men were taken to jail after a drunken car
crash on April 25.
Christopher Wayne Beam, 19, and Curtis Beam, 20, allegedly left the scene of the accident and fought with a police
officer in an attempt to get out of being arrested.
He was able to take them both down.
According to the affidavit, a LeFlore County deputy was dispatched to McCullar Loop in Bokoshe shortly after 4 a.m. due
to the accident. Dispatch advised that the two men involved in
the accident had left the scene.
The deputy found the men walking down Bokoshe Mountain Road. They both smelled like alcohol, and they didn’t try
to lie about what happened.
Curtis admitted to drinking and said, “Yes, I have been
drinking and I was driving the car when we wrecked.”
The deputy asked the driver to take a PBT to see how much alcohol he had consumed, but
when the deputy started to get out of his patrol car, Curtis slammed the door shut and yelled,
“F--- no!”
When the deputy again tried to get out of the car, this time Christopher shut his door,
slamming it onto the deputy’s foot.
He told both men to get on the ground, but of course they didn’t listen. A struggle ensued
and the men started hitting and choking the deputy.
Eventually, the deputy took out his gun. Curtis reluctantly got on the ground.
An open bottle of liquor was later found in Curtis’s car.
The man was transported to the hospital for injuries. According to the officer, he was “belligerent to the staff and [used] profanity...for multiple hours.”
Curtis Beam is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police officer, driving
a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving without a driver’s license and
transporting open bottle of container of liquor. Bond and court date were unknown at time
of print.
Christopher Beam is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police officer. His
bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 11, 2015.

RESISTING ARREST
On Tuesday, May 5, 2015, OSBI agents traveled to Texas to arrest a suspect in a 2006 homicide case. Agents located Howard
Shelton Mason, Jr., 55, in El Paso and arrested him for killing
77-year-old Burney Ray Bounds.
On October 15, 2006, Bounds’ body was discovered by a friend
at Bounds’ residence, 10569 214th Street, Blanchard, Oklahoma. The McClain County Sheriff requested OSBI investigative
and crime scene assistance.
The investigation revealed Bounds’ house was ransacked and
the victim was tied up. The medical examiner reported Bounds’
cause of death was traumatic asphyxia and the manner of death
was homicide.
During the course of the investigation, leads became sparse and the case went cold.
In the past 18 months, OSBI has hired more agents allowing an increase in investigative
resources.
In January 2015, a new agent was assigned Bounds’ case and was able to act on information provided by fingerprint evidence worked by the OSBI Latent Evidence Unit
that pointed to Mason. With the assistance of the Texas Rangers, agents arrested Mason
at a halfway house in El Paso. Mason was on parole in Texas for failure to register as a
sex offender. He was booked into the El Paso County jail where he awaits extradition to
Oklahoma.

Poss of controlled drug
Kenneth Bee Dodd Jr., 48, gave
people quite a scare when he decided to ride his lawn mower into
oncoming traffic in front of the
Choctaw Travel Plaza on May 4.
The extremely intoxicated Wilburton man tried to fight customers and also kicked officers after
he was arrested for his alcoholfueled joyride.
According to the police report,
Wilburton police were dispatched
to the store in the 900 block of
West Main Street at approximately 4:39 p.m. to see why someone
would want to ride a lawn mower into oncoming traffic.
The answer was soon clear.
Dodd smelled like alcohol, his eyes were bloodshot, and his speech
was slurred. When he went to get off the lawn mower, he couldn’t
stand up. He also refused to take a preliminary breath test.
A security guard at the travel plaza told officers Dodd had been
trying to fight customers. Police eventually got the man to get off his
vehicle, but he jerked away from officers and they had to forcibly put
the handcuffs on him.
When they arrived at the jail, Dodd couldn’t stand up on his own,
but that didn’t stop him from being a pain for the officers.
As officers worked to get the man booked into jail, he started yelling at them. At one point, he jumped up from the chair he was sitting
in and tried to fight police. Officers put the man in a restraint chair,
but that didn’t stop Dodd from kicking one of them. He only stopped
fighting once he was forced to by being completely strapped into the
chair.
Dodd is being charged with public intoxication, assault and battery
on police officer, resisting an officer and disturbing the peace. His
bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
May 19, 2015.

A Hugo man was arrested May 3 after a Choctaw County deputy caught him
riding a bike around town with a gun
sticking out of his pants.
The deputy was on patrol when he was
advised that there was a man riding a
bike in Grant with a gun sticking out of
his pants around 7:30 p.m., according to
the affidavit.
The deputy located the man, who he
recognized to be 51-year-old Robert Don
Lindamood. When Lindamood saw the
deputy, he stopped near a residence on
Maple Drive and got off his bike.
The deputy asked him if he had a gun. He nodded his head and
said yes.
The deputy placed him in handcuffs and asked where the gun was
at. Lindamood told him it was under the the back of his shirt. The
deputy found a loaded revolver and a knife with a 5-inch blade.
After retrieving the items, he noticed there was gunpowder on his
hands. He told Lindamood, “I can see the gun was recently fired.”
Lindamood replied, “Yes, sir.”
In the man’s right jean pocket, the deputy found five unfired cartridges, 10 unfired blank cartridges, a fired cartridge that contained a
piece of rolled paper and a burnt brown substance and a silver knife.
In his left pocket, there was a small bag containing items Lindamood
said were rolling papers and tobacco.
The deputy asked him if he had any drugs. Lindamood said no.
The man was transported to jail. During booking, a round container filled with a white crystal substance fell out of Lindamood’s pants.
The substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
Lindamood is being charged with possession of firearm after former felony conviction, possession of controlled dangerous substance,
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying weapons.
His bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on June 30, 2015.

Lehigh man Harold Albert Latham Jr., 48, was arrested after a deputy found
quite an assortment of paraphernalia and drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop
on April 24.
The man also happened to be on probation.
According to the police report, a Coal County deputy was traveling westbound on
old State Highway 3 toward Centrahoma when he saw a vehicle backed into a gate
with no lights on at approximately 8:48 p.m. He stopped to see what was going on.
The driver, identified as Latham, told the officer, “I’m trying to get the internet
working on my phone.”
The deputy noticed the man seemed very nervous and his pupils were restricted. He also knew the
man was on probation.
The deputy asked Latham is there was anything in the vehicle he needed to be aware of.
Latham said no.
The deputy asked if he could check. Latham told the deputy, “It’s not my car, so I can’t let you look
in it.”
The deputy then contacted Latham’s probation officer, who told him to go ahead and look. And it
was no wonder Latham didn’t want the deputy in the car! He found drug-related items including multiple clear plastic baggies, four pipes with a burnt white residue that tested positive for meth, a razor
blade holder, a clear baggy containing meth, a lighter with Latham’s initials on it, an ink pen with
residue in it and two straws with meth residue on them.
Latham is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $21,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
May 21, 2015.

DOMESTIC ABUSE
A Clayton man was arrested after he climbed into bed with another man, naked, and told the man
he needed help because he had worms in his ass.
Talk about a rude awakening!
On April 24 shortly after 2 a.m., a Pushmataha County deputy was dispatched to a residence on State
Highway 2 due to a man holding another person on the ground at gunpoint. When he arrived, he saw
Robert Wesley James, 47, lying on the ground naked. Another man was standing near him with a rifle.
The man laid down his gun and told police why he was pointing a rifle at a naked man. He said he
was sleeping when he felt someone get in bed with him. When he looked to see who it was, he saw a
naked man lying beside him. The man then told him he had worms in his ass, and he needed help.
The man gave him some help, alright. He grabbed his gun and helped the naked James right out of
his house. When they stepped outside, James took off running, and the man said he fired a warning
shot and James stopped. He told the man to get on the ground.
A couple of his neighbors came over to see what was going on, and the man asked them to watch James so he could put
some clothes on. When the man went back inside his house, he found James’s pants and socks strewn about in his house. He
didn’t find a shirt or any shoes.
When the deputy placed James under arrest and put him in the patrol car, James asked the deputy what they looked like.
The deputy asked him what he was talking about -- he probably regretted that question. James told him, “The worms in my
ass.”
The deputy told James he didn’t know what he was talking about, and the man told him that he had worms in his ass and
they were biting ones and it hurt like hell.
James is being charged with burglary in the first degree. His bond was set at $1,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on May 20, 2015.

LOVELACE
After Michael Tyler Lovelace, 22, was found sleeping in a
car with a gun in his lap, he tried to hide from police underneath a house.
The McAlester man also told police hadn’t used drugs recently, because “there haven’t been any drugs for [him] to
use.”
Hmm.
According to the police report, a McAlester officer was dispatched to the 200 block of East Tyler on April 28 to check
on Lovelace, who was sleeping in the driver’s seat of a car
with a gun in his lap. When he arrived, he found the man sleeping with the window open. He reached in and grabbed the gun, waking up Lovelace. The man
reached in the area where the gun had been.
The officer asked him what he was doing. He said he was just sleeping. The officer then asked why he was sleeping with a loaded gun. Lovelace asked, “What
gun?”
Lovelace continued to act like he didn’t know what the officer was talking about.
He also denied any alcohol or drug use.
During the conversation, he started gagging like he was going to throw up. He
got out of the car and gagged his way over to some grass -- he then took off running. The officer yelled at him to stop, but Lovelace kept on going.
Another officer saw the man crawl underneath a house in the 200 block of East
Polk. Police were eventually able to get the man to crawl out of his hiding place.
An officer searched the man, and he found a knife and a glass pipe.
Lovelace was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
The gun found on Lovelace’s lap? It was report stolen out of Hominy.
Lovelace is being charged with possession of firearm after former felony conviction, knowingly concealing stolen property, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing an officer and unlawful carrying weapon. His bond was set
at $10,000, and he was scheduled to appear in court on May 8, 2015.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A couple caught squatting in a Stigler
residence was taken to jail after police
found methamphetamine in the house.
On April 19, a woman called the Stigler
police department and told an officer
that she had recently moved to Florida
and that no one was supposed to be at her
old house, located in the 800 block of SE
A Street. The officer then called the property owner who backed up the woman’s
story and said no one was supposed to
be there. She said she would go and put a
padlock on the door the next day.
On April 20, two officers accompanied
the woman to the residence. When an
officer knocked on the door, no one answered. The officer kept knocking, however, and Stigler woman Lori Jean Jenkins, 36, eventually came to the front
door.
40-year-old Brock Alan Morrison of
Van Buren, Arkansas, was also in the
house.
Police told them that the landlord said
no one was supposed to be there, and they
needed to leave the residence. While conducting a walk-through of the residence,
an officer found a bag containing a crystal substance in the kitchen.
The couple was swiftly evicted from the residence by way of handcuffs and transported to the Haskell County Jail.
The substance found at the house tested positive for methamphetamine.
Both Jenkins and Morrison are being charged with possession of
controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia. Their bonds were set at $20,000, and they are scheduled to appear in court on May 26, 2015.

Durant man William Franklin Brown, 37, was
arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman and threatened to kill her on May 4.
According to the police report, a Bryan County
deputy was dispatched to North Sawmill Road to
investigate shots fired. When police arrived, they
were advised the man with the gun was still on the
property.
After searching for the man, police were eventually able to coax Brown out of his trailer.
Brown told the deputies he didn’t have any guns.
They asked if they could go into his trailer to look;
he said he didn’t want them to go inside.
Brown told police “some woman” sped up into the driveway almost hitting him.
He said she then pulled out a knife and said she was going to kill everyone there.
Brown said he went back inside his trailer until the cops showed up.
While on scene, a deputy found a shotgun shell on the ground.
A witness said she “didn’t know anything about a gun.”
An officer told Brown, “If what you’re saying is true, that she came here saying
that and you were protecting yourself, let me help to clear that up.”
Brown then admitted to having a gun. He said he fired one shot into the ground
to make the woman leave. The man told police where the gun was hidden.
An officer found the gun -- there were three live shells in the chamber.
The victim said she came to the area to check on her daughter, who she was
afraid was getting beat by her husband. When she pulled into the area, she said
Brown immediately approached her and started yelling and cussing at her. When
she told him she was there to see her daughter, he went to his camper, grabbed a
gun and told her, “I’m not putting up with any s---.”
The victim said Brown then shot at the ground in front of her. He then pointed
the gun at her. When she told him she was going to call the cops, he allegedly told
her, “You do and I’ll kill you.”
Dispatch advised the officer that Brown was a felon.
Brown is being charged with feloniously pointing firearm and possession of
firearm after former felony conviction. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on June 10, 2015.

What you’re saying
about this on...
The bill is called the “Trooper Nicholas Dees and Keith Burch
Act of 2015,” in honor of the troopers who were involved in a
crash in January east of Shawnee.
A driver, who was allegedly updating social media while driving, hit the troopers, killing Dees and seriously injuring Burch.
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, texting while driving makes drivers 23 times more
likely to be involved in a traffic accident.
Governor Fallin was joined by members of the troopers’ families as she signed the bill into law.
She says she hopes the law will save lives.
“My hope is that this bill does more than just change the law,” Fallin said. “As a state, we need to
change the way we think about texting while driving. The fact is it’s dangerous. If we can get people
to think about it that way, we can drive more responsibly, save a lot of lives and make our roads much
safer.”
The law makes texting while driving a primary offense, meaning police can pull anyone who does it
over and give them a $100 ticket.
Senator Ervin Yen says that making texting and driving a primary offense will have a big impact.
“States with primary-enforcement laws saw an overall reduction of three percent in traffic fatalities,”
he says. “For young drivers between 15 and 21, there was an 11 percent reduction in fatalities. That’s
huge.”
He says research shows states that only had secondary enforcement saw virtually no change.
“Primary enforcement saves lives,” says Yen.
Oklahoma is the 46th state to have a law banning texting while driving.
It has exceptions for certain emergency situations and specifies it will not apply to devices operated in
a voice-activated mode in which a driver’s hands would not be needed to write, send or read a text message.
The law goes into effect Nov. 1.
KFOR.COM
Gov. Mary Fallin signed HB 1965 into law
Tuesday afternoon, making texting while
driving illegal in Oklahoma
David C: Should be a felony
Phillip R: think this was a waste of time. when
distracted driving laws already existed and the police didnt enforce them. shoot they were often just
as guilty as the rest of us. yet this gives them immuity and lets them be above the law
Cale R: Because that will make them stop.
Christina B: Little late isn’t it?! Way behind
as usual. Other countries do not allow any phone
use whatsoever while driving.
Jon N: I like the idea! But just a feel good law
that they can’t enforce!
Amanda K: YES YES YES!!!!
Anita G: Its a shame we had to wait til an officer was killed, should have been a number of lifes
saved including his!
Todd K: Previous law was a secondary law
meaning the police could not stop someone for doing the offense, the new law is a primary law meaning you can be pulled over for only texting now.
Michael L: Still ain’t going to stop folks from
texting and driving, no matter how stiff the penalty.
Brad B: I hope they find someone to enforce
it. Was on my bike yesterday. Seven striaght drivers passed me, all texting or looking at phones.
This was in the Arbuckles where there are so many
wrecks.
Keith S: This won’t help anything. Especially
with speech to text software in most phones. Technology has already out paced this new law.
Bryan W: So lame, I hope they actually apply
this to themselves I see cops on their phones more
than anyone else
Ken W: About time
Sarah H: Nice idea, but we have distracted
driving laws in effect and that has changed nothing
same with drunk driving....laws in place but people
still break it and still somehow manage to continue
to break it till they kill someone or themselves
Winnie B: I wonder if it will apply to cops that
are using their MDT’s while driving?
William D: Can’t keep implementing new
laws, all the laws in the world wont make up for
common sense! Pretty soon we won’t be able to
leave the house without knowingly or unknowingly
breaking some law. Land of the free, really?
Dorothy E: I totally approve
Chris S: I’m glad there is a law for drinking
and driving cause no one does that either. Against
the law or not, prolly wouldn’t of saved that officer.

An Idabel man was arrested May 5 for allegedly
stealing a man’s struck
because he was mad the
man kicked him out of
his house.
Lewis Charles Moore,
52, then sold the truck to
a local scrapyard.
On May 4 shortly after 6 p.m., a McCurtain County deputy was dispatched to Tyson’s food to take a report of the stolen vehicle.
The victim said he had just gotten off work, and when he walked
outside, he noticed his truck was missing. He said the vehicle didn’t
need a key to start because the ignition was “messed up.”
According to the police report, the man said he believed Moore took
his vehicle, because he had just kicked the man out of his house because he found narcotics in his room.
The next day, an officer located the stolen truck at a local scrapyard.
An employee told the officer Moore sold him the truck. He handed
over a bill of sale, which had Moore’s photo ID on it.
Police spoke to Moore’s girlfriend at a local apartment. She told
them she hadn’t seen her man since he left their hotel room around 3
a.m. that morning. She said he was walking toward Tom the last time
she talked to him.
Police left, but they later returned to the apartment after a confidential informant told them Moore was there. They found the man
lying underneath some clothes inside the bedroom closet.
An officer interviewed Moore, who admitted to taking the truck. He
said the victim had kicked him out of the house “for no reason.” He
said after taking the truck, he drove it to Foreman, Arkansas, before
returning and selling it to the scrapyard.
Moore told police he had been hiding in the closet when they spoke
to his girlfriend earlier that day.
Moore is being charged with larceny of an automobile.

Would-be burglar Dillon Shane Gage, 21, knew he
was busted when an officer caught him at a pawn shop
after hours on May 6.
When he saw the police car, the Atoka man immediately put his heads behind his head and dropped to his
knees. The officer found burglary tools nearby.
According to the police report, an Atoka officer was
checking on the business in the 800 block of S. Mississippi shortly after 2 a.m. when he saw a man standing
“motionless” next to a rear door.
The officer put a spotlight on the man, and that’s
when he immediately dropped to his knees.
The officer approached Gage and noticed that he had a black bandana around
his neck. There was also a black duffel bag near the man, which contained a red
handle claw hammer.
Gage admitted the bag was his and he was trying to break into the business. He
said he was going to use the hammer to break the padlock on the back door, but
he stopped when he saw the patrol car.
The officer then asked him if he had a cellphone. When Gage handed it over, the
officer noticed the flashlight was on. Gage said he was planning to use the flashlight once he was inside the building.
Gage was placed under arrested and transported to jail.
This wasn’t the first time Gage had tried to take something that was his -- according to a records check, the man had previously pled guilty to a burglary in
Coal County.
Gage is being charged with attempted burglary in the second degree. His bond
was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 13, 2015.

Computer interconnectivity has produced enormous
benefits, but has also enabled criminal activity that
exploits this interconnectivity for financial gain and
other malicious purposes,
such as internet fraud, child
exploitation, identity theft,
and terrorism. The Internet
can give identity thieves,
hackers, and scammers online access to your computer,
financial and personal information and more. Additionally, today's mobile devices
are well integrated with the
internet and have far more functionality than mobile phones of the past. They are increasingly used in the same way as personal computers, potentially making them susceptible to
similar threats affecting computers connected to the Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful arena for socializing and
learning. However, the use of the internet also brings about risks to their safety, including
the dangers of sexual solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal
content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating, parents -- regardless of
whether they are technologically savvy -- can help their kids make better decisions about
online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated with protecting networks and
information, detecting criminal activity, investigating crime, and prosecuting criminals,
. The Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America against cyber
threats and has developed a pragmatic and focused cyber-security legislative proposal for
Congress to consider. The proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for
the American people, our Nation's critical infrastructure, and the Federal Government's own
networks and computers.

Checotah man Jimmy Lee Minnick, 40, was arrested after
he allegedly knocked a man’s teeth out at a local bar on April
27.
Checotah police were dispatched to the bar in the 1200 block
of W. Gentry Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. When they arrived,
it was easy to see who the victim was. According to the affidavit, his face was “severely swollen,” and he was having a hard
time speaking due to his injuries.
The victim told police he was playing pool with two men, and
the men started fighting. He tried to break them up, but they
turned on him and “stomped on his face.” He showed the officer that he was holding two of his teeth in his hand.
The bartender told police the same story. She said she told
the men to calm down or they would have to leave, and they
told her to get behind the bar. The victim told them not to
speak to her like that. A fight broke out, and she said Minnick also punched a woman during
the scuffle.
Police went to Minnick’s residence, where his mom opened the door. She told them he was
asleep, but an officer asked if he could speak to her son.
An alcohol-smellin’ Minnick shuffled to the door. He had blood on his shirt and pants. He
denied being at the bar earlier that night. The officer asked him whose blood was on his shirt
-- he replied he had been in bed all night.
During the conversation, the officer noticed Minnick was hiding something in one of his
hands.
When an officer asked to see what he was hiding, Minnick told him no and tried to shut the
door.
The officer grabbed the door and told Minnick he was under arrest. The man told the officer
he wasn’t going anywhere.
Minnick continued to struggle with officers; one of them threatened to tase him, but Minnick didn’t seem to care, so, he got tased.
He seemed like the jolt of electricity had stunned him into submission, but while they were
walking to the patrol car, he tried one last time to get away from police.
He didn’t succeed.
Minnick is being charged with aggravated assault and battery. He was released on a $5,000
bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 24, 2015.
