An angry Talihina man was taken to jail after he allegedly
hit his wife and her daughter, and threated to kill them before being tased by an officer.
Leflore County deputies were dispatched to a residence on
Highway 82 on April 14 in reference to a possible domestic
dispute involving Darrel Dewayne Tallant, 31.
Tallant’s wife told police that an intoxicated Tallant started yelling and cussing at her about a dog before slapping her
face and telling her to get out of his house.
She said her husband was acting strangely and throwing
around televisions and tables. He also allegedly spit in her
daughter’s face and pushed her.
The women said Tallant threatened to kill them, so they
left the residence in fear for their lives.
The deputies made contact with Tallant, who had felony
warrants through Leflore County. They saw him standing on the back porch of the residence
holding a broom. A deputy told him to step from the porch because he was under arrest for
warrants.
Tallant gave a nice “F you” to the deputies before running east of the residence. A deputy
pursued Tallant on foot and ordered him to stop. Tallant refused and kept digging in his
pocket as he ran.
After warning Tallant that he would tase him if he didn’t comply, the deputy deployed his
taser, hitting Tallant. Tallant fell to the ground but continued to resist arrest by placing his
hand in his pocket.
Tallant eventually complied after the deputy threatened to tase him again.
During a pat search of Tallant, the deputy found three pill bottles in his right pocket.
Tallant is being charged with two counts of domestic abuse – assault and battery, and
possession of a controlled dangerous substance. His bond was set at $7,500, and he was
scheduled to appear in court on April 28, 2014.

FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE
An Antlers man wearing a skirt was arrested in Choctaw County
after police suspected he was getting in touch with more than just
his feminine side.
Hugo police were dispatched to a parking lot of a business in the
1900 block of E. Jackson April 9 due to a man who appeared to be
sitting in a van without any pants on, the affidavit states.
When police arrived, they approached the suspect van; the driver’s side door of the van was open.
They saw a man inside the van, who appeared to be moving
around frantically, reaching for something on the passenger’s side
floorboard.
An officer verbally commanded the driver to keep his hands where
he could see them. As the officer progressed closer to the van, he could see that the man’s
testicles and butt were exposed.
He shut the door of the van and asked the man what he was doing with his genitals exposed
in public.
The man, identified as Randy Eugene Whisenhunt, 57, simply said he was wearing a skirt
and didn’t think he was doing anything wrong, because he had heard of women wearing
skirts with nothing on underneath.
The officer explained that even though Whisenhunt was wearing a skirt, it was no excuse
for his junk to be on display for the world to see.
Whisenhunt went on a frantic rant, telling the officer that he thought he was doing better
by wearing a skirt and Dallas police told him it would be OK.
The officer asked him if he had a history of exposing himself; Whisenhunt admitted that
he was a sex offender.
As he was speaking with Whisenhunt, the officer noticed a pair of shorts and an open jar of
petroleum jelly in the passenger floorboard.
He told Whisenhunt to put the shorts on, and the officer placed him under arrest.
Whisenhunt continued to argue with the officer, stating that he wasn’t doing anything
wrong, and he thought that wearing a skirt with nothing on underneath was OK. He said he
was sorry people could see his genitals because he thought he was trying to do better.
Whisenhunt is being charged with indecent exposure. His bond was set at $20,000, and he
is scheduled to appear in court on May 27, 2014.

Every neighborhood has a crazy lady
— Jo Ann Cantrell might just be the crazy one on her street.
Apparently, Cantrell isn’t too fond of
people mowing their yards. The 52-yearold Wilburton woman was arrested April
11 after she allegedly pointed a gun at
people mowing their grass.
According to the affidavit, a Wilburton
police officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1800 block of Pahlon Lane
in reference to someone shooting a gun.
When he arrived, a man told him that
he was mowing the lawn when Cantrell
walked out her door, looked at him and shook her head before going
back inside her house.
The man said he went back to mowing, but he soon heard a gunshot in his direction.
Another resident of the neighborhood told the officer that Cantrell
had pointed a gun at his daughter while she had been mowing the
day before. He said he heard his daughter screaming and pointing
at Cantrell. He looked and saw Cantrell retreat into her home while
holding a rifle.
The juvenile female told the officer that Cantrell walked outside
and shook her head at the girl, before going inside and returning with
a gun and pointing it straight at her.
When the officer spoke to Cantrell, he asked her if she had a gun
in her residence. She told him she did and that she had shot it once
that day.
She advised him that he wasn’t getting her gun.
Cantrell is being charged with feloniously pointing a firearm and
reckless conduct with a firearm. She was released on a $2,500 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on May 6, 2014.

Tupelo man Kevin Carter Kieckhefer, 24, was taken to
jail April 21 after he went on an alcohol-fueled rampage that
scared his wife and prompted her to call police.
When Coal County deputies arrived at the couple’s home
on County Road 3690, the victim told them that her husband was extremely intoxicated, very angry, and he told her
that he wanted to hurt himself.
The witness said she and her husband became involved
in an altercation earlier that day because he flattened a
tire and broke a tail light on their rental vehicle, and threw
things at her while she was holding their daughter.
She further advised that Kieckhefer had gotten in the
shower to avoid police and told her that if they came in the
house, he would kill himself.
Police told Kieckhefer to exit the house. He eventually
complied, and a deputy placed him in handcuffs. He admitted to police that he had consumed “about 10 beers.”
When the arresting officer asked him what had taken place, Kieckhefer responded, “We
had an argument, but I didn’t do anything wrong. She’s just mad at me because I’ve been
drinking and threw all that stuff in the yard and tore up our rental vehicle.”
Inside the residence, police observed that Kieckhefer had kicked a door off the hinges and
broken a few items in the home.
Kieckhefer allegedly told an officer that he had flipped a bed on its end because he was
looking for ammunition for his guns.
There was also blood on the dining room floor; the victim told police Kieckhefer had sliced
his hand during his rampage. She also advised that he had broken the window of their tractor.
The deputy asked Kieckhefer about the accusations, and he allegedly said, “I didn’t do any
of that! She’d just mad at me for no reason. I can break whatever I want to, but I did throw
a few things at her.”
Kieckhefer is being charged with domestic abuse assault and battery. His bond was set at
$5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 14, 2014.

Antlers woman Loretta Lynn Cottrell, 49, was arrested April 19 after
police found drugs and paraphernalia
in her vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a Pushmataha County deputy pulled Cottrell
over after she failed to properly signal
when pulling in front of him on State
Highway 3. When the deputy made
contact with Cottrell and her passenger, he noticed a faint smell of alcohol
coming from inside her vehicle. He
asked her to exit her vehicle and when
she did, a small liquor bottle that was
¾ empty fell out of the car. She admitted that the liquor was hers and told him there was another bottle in
the car. She denied, however, that there was anything else illegal in
the car.
She was wrong.
The deputy started searching the car for the other bottle when
he noticed a jacket lying in the front driver’s seat. He retrieved the
jacket from the vehicle, and Cottrell told him there was coffee in the
front part of the jacket. When the deputy pulled out the coffee from
the pocket, he found two cigarette packages. One contained a glass
smoking device and the other contained a baggie with residue and a
cellophane wrapper with a rock-like substance that later field-tested
positive for methamphetamine.
Cottrell told the deputy that everything in the vehicle was hers and
the passenger didn’t know the illegal items were in the car.
Cottrell is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with
license suspended and failure to carry insurance verification form.
She was released on an OR bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on May 21, 2014.

A Hartshorne man’s plans of a sexual
encounter were thwarted when he ran into
a light pole on his way to get a hand job.
On April 12, a Hartshorne police officer
responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of Eighth Street and Pennsylvania
Avenue. According to the affidavit, someone had crashed into a light pole. When he
arrived, he saw a car with damage to the
front bumper in front of a residence in the
800 block of Pennsylvania and man staggering into the house. He knocked on the
door, and 71-year-old Gilbert Lee Grigsby
opened the door.
Grigsby smelled of alcohol, and his eyes were red and watery.
The officer asked Grigsby to step outside to talk. He agreed but
had to hold on to the officer’s arm to walk. The officer asked Grigsby
if he lived at the residence, but the man told him no, he was there to
get a hand job.
When the officer asked him if he had been drinking, Grigsby admitted to drinking “quite a few.”
A witness told the officer she had seen Grigsby’s vehicle hit the
light pole and had called the police.
The officer shined a flashlight in Grigsby’s vehicle and saw a grinder commonly used with marijuana in the front seat. He opened the
door and picked up the grinder; it had small pieces of green leaves
inside and smelled of marijuana.
He searched the rest of the vehicle and found other illegal items,
including: hand-rolled cigarettes with a green leafy substance,
a burnt light bulb, a glass smoking device that tested positive for
meth, a baggie containing a green leafy substance and some pills.
Grigsby is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on May 8, 2014.

OCSO SEEKS HELP FRO M PUB LIC FOR
HISTORY PRO JECT
(Oklahoma City) The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is making a plea to anyone who
might have historic pictures, or artifacts related to our agency to share them with us.
“The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is working on a history project. If you, your family, friends or acquaintances have any old photos or artifacts related to OCSO would love to
have them or a digital copy”, said Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office has been in existence since the 1890’s well before
Oklahoma became a state in 1907, and we have very few items in house to document our
history. “These items we are looking for could be from the 1890s, the 1900s, during the
Oklahoma City Bombing – just historical photos involving the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s
Office including people, vehicles, etcetera”, said Whetsel.
If you have pictures, documents, or any artifacts which we could include in our archives,
and displays please scan and email them to [email protected] or direct message them
through our Facebook page. You can also contact Public Information Director Mark Myers
at (405) 713-1029.
Thank you in advance for assisting us with this project.

Clothes weren’t the only thing
hanging out to dry at a Durant laundromat on April 13.
A Sherman, Texas, man was arrested for allegedly airing his “dirty
laundry,” much to the dismay of an
innocent employee.
According to the affidavit, a Durant
police officer was dispatched to the
business in the 1000 block of W. Main
Street in reference to a man exposing his genitals to an employee. The
employee told police that the suspect
walked up to the window, knocked on
it to get her attention and dropped his
pants.
It’s gonna take a lot more than bleach to erase that image!
When the officer arrived on scene, he saw a man walking down
the street that matched the description of the junk-flashin’ suspect.
He made contact with the man, who identified himself as Boe Dean
Webster, 30.
The officer observed that Webster smelled strongly of alcohol. He
also had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his
feet. Webster admitted to drinking two beers.
The officer asked Webster if he had exposed himself to the lady
working at the Laundromat.
Webster denied showing the woman his manhood (or lack thereof), but the officer placed him in handcuffs and took him back to the
laundromat.
The employee verified that Webster was the man that had flashed
his genitals at her.
Webster is being charged with indecent exposure and public intoxication. His bond was set at $10,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 14, 2014.

Life is just a
game to some
Luis Matienzo, a 19-year-old Illinois
man, was jailed after he allegedly
played a video game for hours while
his 2-year-old stepson cried out in
pain from a broken leg.
According to police, Matienzo was
watching his 2-year-old stepson when
the child suffered a broken right femur
while playing inside a playpen at the
home.
Matienzo allegedly played the
video game “Grand Theft Auto V” for two and a half hours “while
knowing that the child was injured with a leg injury, later found to
be a broken right leg,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Investigators say Matienzo later admitted to knowing that the
child was injured, but left the boy in his play pen crying because he
didn’t want to stop playing the video game.
He eventually stopped playing when it was time to pick up his
wife. That’s when the child was brought to a local hospital for
medical care.
Matienzo was booked into jail and charged with misdemeanor
child endangerment.

Jesus said, “You have heard the law
that says the punishment must match the
injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for
a tooth.’ But I say, do not resist an evil
person! If someone slaps you on the right
cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you
are sued in court and your shirt is taken
from you, give your coat, too.” (Matthew
5:38-40)
God’s purpose behind this law was an expression of mercy. The
law was given to judges and said, in effect, “Make the punishment fit
the crime.” It was not a guide for personal revenge. These laws were
given to limit vengeance and help the court administer punishment
that was neither to strict nor too lenient. Some people, however, were
using this phrase to justify their vendettas against others. People still
try to excuse their acts of revenge by saying, “I was just doing to him
what he did to me.”
Bible Says:
Doesn’t the Bible Say “An Eye for an
Eye, and a Tooth for a Tooth”? Atoka woman Cheryl Ann Rice
Lang, 45, was taken to jail after
she allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a pitchfork because
she didn’t want him to leave.
That’s probably not the best
way to keep a man.
The victim told Tushka police
that on the morning of April 13,
he and Lang became involved in
an altercation and he wanted to
leave, according to the affidavit.
She apparently didn’t want
that, because he said she told him
that he was not going to leave.
She allegedly picked up a pitchfork and when he asked her what
she was going to do with it, he
said she told him, “You’ll see if you try to leave.”
The victim must have thought the odds were in his favor that day,
because he turned around to leave. He said she then hit him with the
pitchfork, and the pitchfork went through his hand into his chest.
When he spoke to police on April 14, he had a bandage on his hand.
Police went to Lang’s residence in the 500 block of Ogle Street
and made contact with the pitchfork-wielding woman. The officers
informed Lang that she was under arrest for domestic violence, but
she told them that she was not going to jail for the victim’s lies.
According to the arresting officer, she stated, “You’ll have to beat
me and drag me.”
The officers were able to get Lang to the jail unharmed, and she
is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
She is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 30, 2014.

Two Hanna women were arrested during a traffic stop on April
14 when police found drugs and paraphernalia in their vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a Eufaula police officer pulled over
a vehicle on Fourth Street because the vehicle didn’t have a current tag. He made contact with the driver, Jamie C. Merhige,
and passenger, Terra Jean Marshall, 33, and asked them for
identification.
The officer wrote Merhige a citation for the expired tag and
asked her if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. She told
him no and gave him permission to perform a search.
He searched her person and found a small baggie containing a
crystal-like substance that later tested positive for meth. She told
police that she had last used a month ago, but when presented
with the baggie, she admitted to using earlier that night. The
officer placed her under arrest and put her in the patrol vehicle.
Birds of a feather must truly flock together, because Merhige’s
passenger would soon join her.
In Marshall’s purse, the officer found a glass pipe and a cigarette wrapper containing a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana.
In the glove box of the car, the officer found a pipe with a burnt
substance; he also found a cold can of beer under the passenger
seat and another pipe behind the passenger seat.
Marshall admitted that the marijuana and pipe in the glove
box were hers.
Merhige admitted that the beer and glass pipe behind the passenger seat belonged to her.
On the way to jail, the officer asked the women if they had anything on their person that
the police failed to find. Marshall admitted to having a baggie of meth hidden in her bra.
During booking, a jailer searched Marshall and found a baggie containing a crystal substance that tested positive for meth.
They are both being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Merhige and Marshall were released on
$10,000 bonds, and they are scheduled to appear in court on June 11, 2014.

Quinton man Jesse Danyel, 26, allegedly broke into a
home on April 18, changed clothes and took a shower before
being arrested for burglary.
According to the affidavit, a Haskell County deputy was
made aware of Zaldana’s activities after he responded to a
possible burglary in the 100 block of W. Brooken Mountain
Road. A Quinton officer assisted.
The reporting party told police that he had just told a man
to leave his property. He said that a screen cover on a back
window had been removed, but he was unsure if anyone had
gone into his home.
After police verified no one was in the home, the RP told
them he had seen the suspect by his neighbor’s truck.
Police went to the residence and noticed that the door
leading into the garage was not shut completely. The deputy checked the door and found that it was unlocked. He
stepped back and the door opened up. The suspect, whom the deputy recognized as Zaldana, was standing in the doorway. The deputy told him to get on the ground, and he placed
Zaldana in handcuffs.
Zaldana told police that his name was the homeowner’s and he lived at the residence.
Zaldana was strangely dressed; he wasn’t wearing shoes, and he had a button-up shirt on
over a polo shirt. In his pocket, the deputy found a Kubota key chain and key, and a garage
door opener.
The deputy placed him in the patrol car and transported him to jail.
Zaldana kept trying to convince the deputy that he owned the home he had broken into,
but the deputy told Zaldana that he wasn’t the homeowner because he had arrested Zaldana
before.
Zaldana finally admitted that his name was indeed Jesse Zaldana.
The next day, a man filed a report that he was missing a Kubota tractor key from his vehicle.
On April 20, the deputy returned to the home to speak with the homeowners. They told
him that there were clothes and shoes in their home that didn’t belong to them, and that it
appeared one of the showers in their home had recently been used.
Quinton is being charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and falsely personating another to create liability. His bond was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear in
court on May 13, 2014.

If you’re trying to impersonate someone,
it’s probably best not to acknowledge when
someone says your real name.
Haworth man Donnie Lee Keeton, 45,
didn’t get that memo. He was arrested for
trying to use his brother’s name during a
traffic stop on April 17.
According to the affidavit, an Idabel police
officer pulled over Keeton’s vehicle on Highway 3 because the car didn’t have a working
license plate light or right brake light.
The officer approached the vehicle and
made contact with the driver, who identified himself as his brother.
At first, the driver couldn’t remember when he was born, but he finally gave the officer a birth date.
The officer returned to his vehicle and checked Keeton for warrants. He also had dispatch check Donnie Keeton’s information. According to the officer, he had had previous law enforcement contact
with the brother and had taken a report on Donnie, and he knew the
driver wasn’t the brother.
His suspicion proved to be true.
The officer went back to the Keeton’s vehicle. He looked at the
driver and said, “Hey Donnie.”
The driver simply replied, “Yes sir.”
He admitted to the officer that his real name was actually Donnie
Keeton. The officer placed him under arrest. Dispatch advised that
Keeton had one city and three county warrants.
During inventory of Keeton’s vehicle, the officer found a baggie
containing a clear crystalline residue that field-tested positive for
methamphetamine.
Keeton is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, obstructing an officer and driving with license revoked.
His bond was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court
on May 2, 2014.
