November 2 wasn’t a great day for Pocola man Christopher Archie,
25. After he allegedly stole a game console, he was punched by a woman and taken to jail.
According to the police report, a Pocola police officer was dispatched
to the 800 block of Morris around 12:10 p.m. due to a fight with a knife.
When he arrived, he saw Archie leaving the yard. When the officer got
out of his vehicle, people started yelling for him to “get Chris!”
The officer took Archie into custody and found a knife in his left front
pocket. He asked Archie what was going on. The man replied, “They hit
my dad so I had to get them.”
A woman told the officer that Archie had stolen her game console the
day before, and his father had brought it back to her house that day. She said Archie then
came to her house and started threatening her and her boyfriend while they were on their
porch. When he pulled out a knife and started swinging it around, she said she punched him.
The woman’s boyfriend told the officer Archie’s father brought the stolen game console
back without games or controllers. He said he told the man Archie needed to bring those
items back too. That’s when he said Archie showed up with a knife.
A witness told the officer she saw Archie walk up to the house yelling, “I’m going to kill two
bitches!” She said she then saw the woman hit Archie in self-defense.
Archie is being charged with burglary in the second degree and assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
December 2, 2014.

OSBI agents have arrested a Guthrie man for sexually assaulting
and beating an 85-year-old woman December 25, 1997. David
Jerome Stephens, II, 35, was arrested Oct. 23, at his home located
at 11775 Red Cedar Road in Guthrie.
An OSBI DNA analyst alerted the OSBI case agent of a DNA hit
on the case from the Combined DNA Index System. Days before
the statute of limitations would have run out, that agent filed a
John Doe warrant based off a DNA profile collected from the rape
victim. The warrant allowed the case to legally remain active.
Moena House was beaten with a pipe and sexually assaulted
Christmas morning inside her Guthrie home after giving in to her
attacker’s demands for money. House died in 2008.
DNA was collected from Stephens for a 2013 conviction of
possession of a controlled dangerous drug within 1000 feet of a school/park/child. Stephens has a
lengthy arrest record starting in 1997.

When a Hugo man crashed into the rock wall surrounding
Mt. Olivet Cemetery on November 4, he told police that his
brakes weren’t working.
Evidence at the scene and the discovery of drugs told a difference story.
According to the police report, a Hugo police officer was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of S.
Eighth and E. Trice Street at 10:50 p.m. When he arrived, he
observed that it appeared a truck had been traveling eastbound
on Trice Street before hitting the rock wall at the cemetery.
He made contact with 47-year-old Robert Wayne Maxwell.
Maxwell told the officer his truck brakes didn’t work when he
tried to stop at the stop sign.
The officer later discovered that Maxwell’s vehicle had skidded for about 49 feet from where it came to rest, indicating that he had been traveling much
faster than the posted limit of 25 mph.
Maxwell’s movements were overly exaggerated, and when the officer walked near the man’s
vehicle, he noticed the smell of beer. He also saw a large amount of foamy liquid on the driver’s side floorboard. He asked Maxwell if he had been drinking. Maxwell told him no.
The officer administered standard field sobriety tests to Maxwell, and it was soon clear that
Maxwell was under the influence of multiple intoxicants.
The officer placed Maxwell under arrest and searched his person. He found two baggies
containing a white crystalline substance and $32 in Maxwell’s coveralls pocket. Maxwell told
him, “These aren’t my coveralls. There are my friend’s, and he’s got an ass whooping coming.”
But the officer, observing the coveralls fit Maxwell perfectly, asked him who the coveralls
belonged to. Maxwell refused to answer.
The officer found several busted cans of beer inside the cemetery, indicating someone had
thrown them over the wall. He found the same type of beer can in the bed of Maxwell’s truck.
He also found a lid to a beer can inside the truck, and the can matching it near the truck.
Maxwell is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent
to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park or school, actual physical control of vehicle while under the influence and reckless driving. He was released on a $35,000 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on December 16, 2014.

Deaths in
crashes involving drunk drivers with a blood
alcohol concentration (BAC) of
.08+ dropped
in 2010, but
despite this decrease, there
were still 10,228
lives lost – that’s
one person every 51 minutes. That makes it everyone's problem.
It seems that many people were doing their part to put a stop to
this completely preventable epidemic. Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s. Research also indicates
that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends Don't Let
Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened to stop
someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90's, alcohol-related driving deaths have
been steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was
very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many thought the messages to be targeted at overtly
drunk drivers, and not them. When decision time came, they would
consider themselves merely "buzzed" and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December 2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the
dangers of "buzzed" driving and subsequently, to motivate people
to stop driving buzzed. The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed driving and drunk driving and demonstrating
the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of buzzed
driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed Driving is
Drunk Driving.

Stigler woman Kristin N. Baker,
24, was arrested October 30 after
an officer pulled her over for driving
erratically down state Highway 9.
She claimed she was tired, but that
wasn’t what got her arrested -- the
drugs were.
According to the affidavit, a deputy was traveling west on S.H. 9
behind a silver SUV. He watched as
the SUV swerved to the right, nearly
hitting the guardrail, and veered left
of center when turning. The deputy
pulled the vehicle over and made
contact with the driver, Baker.
He noticed that she had slurred speech and appeared to be having trouble keeping her eyes open. He asked her if she had been
drinking; she said no.
She told him she takes prescription medication, but she doesn’t
take it until she gets home. The deputy asked her what was making her drive so badly. She told him she was just tired.
The deputy asked her if she had any open containers in the vehicle. She told him no.
When he asked her if there was anything else illegal in the vehicle, she admitted that she had some weed in the vehicle and a
pipe in her purse. Baker gave the deputy permission to search
her vehicle.
During the search, he opened the console and noticed the smell
of raw marijuana. He found a plastic bag containing a green substance and a small container used for cutting up marijuana.
The deputy placed Baker under arrest and took her to jail.
Baker is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
November 18, 2014.

A 67-year-old man was arrested at the Talihina Veterans Affair
Hospital on November 7 for living it up.
According to the affidavit, he was drinking vodka, smoking cigarettes, and fighting with hospital staff.
Aw, to be young again.
A Latimer County deputy was dispatched to the VA hospital in reference to a belligerent intoxicated subject around 9 p.m. When he
arrived, nursing staff told him Jimmy Randolph Cox was drinking
vodka and had become violent toward them. A nurse told the deputy
Cox was smoking in his room.
When nurses confronted him and told him he couldn’t smoke cigarettes in the hospital, he refused to put the cigarette out. Cox was
also cursing and trying to hit the staff. Another nurse told the deputy when she tried to take
Cox’s cigarette from him, he hit her in the side.
The entire time the deputy was speaking to the staff, he could hear Cox yelling and acting
belligerently.
When the deputy made contact with Cox, he noticed the man smelled strongly of alcohol.
His eyes were also bloodshot, and he had slurred speech. He told the deputy he had consumed almost an entire pint of vodka.
The officer placed him under arrest and transported him to the Latimer County Jail.
Cox is being charged with assault and battery on emergency medical personnel, public intoxication, public nuisance and smoking in a no smoking area. He was released on a personal
recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 18, 2014.

A Krebs woman with a warrant for her arrest told an officer the
pants she was wearing weren’t hers when he arrested her on November 4.
The reason she denied the britches? There were drugs and paraphernalia in the pockets.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., a Krebs police officer was dispatched
to the 200 block of Katy-5 to check on the welfare of some children,
according to the affidavit. When he arrived, he saw the children’s
mother, 28-year-old Adrienne Dae Clifton, sitting in a chair near
the front door. When he knocked on the door, the children’s grandmother answered. She let him inside the house, and he checked on
the kids and could see that they were doing fine.
He then asked Clifton if he could speak to her outside. He told her she had a warrant for
her arrest, and he was going to take her to jail.
Once they were at the jail, the officer asked her if she had anything illegal on her person.
She reached into her front left pocket and started walking toward the trashcan. The officer
stopped her and asked what she had in her hand. She told him the pants she was wearing
weren’t hers.
In her hand was a baggy containing a white powdery residue that field-tested positive for
methamphetamine and a red and white straw containing a residue.
Clifton is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $15,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on November 21, 2014.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

An Antlers woman who claimed to be chasing another vehicle to
confront its occupants was arrested November 11 for driving when she
had been drinking a little too much.
According to the affidavit, an Antlers police officer was on patrol
around 1:59 a.m. when he saw a vehicle speeding westbound on E.
Main Street. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign or use a turn
signal, and it was following too closely to another vehicle. The officer
pulled over the vehicle in the 400 block of N.E. Second Street, and recognized the driver, 34-year-old Amanda Kirk, from a 2013 DUI arrest.
Kirk told him she was chasing the vehicle in front of her because the
occupants tried to assault her. She said they had flashed their lights
at her, and she pulled over because she thought it was a police vehicle. After she realized it
wasn’t, she said she became angry, so she was chasing the truck to confront the occupants.
While she was speaking, the officer could smell alcohol coming from her person. She said
she had only had one beer.
After standard field sobriety tests hinted she might be intoxicated, a portable breath test
was administered. Kirk’s breath alcohol level was .12, and the officer transported her to jail.
According to her driving record, Kirk was arrested in 2010 and 2013 for driving under the
influence.
Kirk is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and
failure to carry insurance/security verification form. Her bond was set at $5,000, and she is
scheduled to appear in court on December 10, 2014.

A Coalgate man with no driver’s license tried in vain to get away from
a police officer on November 3. His unsuccessful escape attempt resulted in him being removed from his vehicle at gunpoint and taken to jail;
it wasn’t his first time being caught without a valid license.
On November 3, a Coal County deputy was on patrol when he saw
38-year-old Franklin Wayne Park driving a vehicle on Old Highway 3
at approximately 12:56 p.m. According to the affidavit, the deputy knew
that Park didn’t have a valid driver’s license. He turned his vehicle
around to pull over Park, but Park apparently had other ideas. It soon
became apparent to the deputy that Park wasn’t going to pull over -- he
was trying to get away.
Park was driving very erratically, despite the deputy’s siren and flashing lights. He turned
south onto 3710 and drove approximately a mile and a half before coming to a stop.
Park and his female companion were removed from the vehicle at gunpoint and handcuffed. The deputy let the female passenger leave after he determined she wasn’t a willing
participant in the chase.
Park was transported to the Coal County Jail.
Park is being charged with failure to comply with compulsory insurance law, driving under
suspension (second and subsequent), operating vehicle in which all taxes due state have not
been paid and attempting to elude a police officer. He was released on a $1,943 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on December 12, 2014.

When a Calera man called police to
report a robbery, he probably wasn’t
expecting to be the one who was placed
in handcuffs.
But he was.
On November 4, a Calera officer
was dispatched to the 600 block of
Beshears Street. When he arrived, he
was met by 54-year-old Rick Glover
Selby. The man told him that while he
was sleeping, his friend came into his
house and stole five Xbox games, $160
in cash….and an ashtray.
While Selby was speaking, the officer noticed a syringe in a nearby trashcan. He asked him if he or his
friend had ever used any type of illegal drug. Selby told the officer he
had just kicked his friend out of his house for selling methamphetamine, but his friend had been selling drugs at the house for about
two weeks.
The officer put the syringe in a bag. Selby handed him a marker to
write on the bag with, but the marker wouldn’t write.
The officer soon discovered why. He noticed the marker had been
cut, and he saw a plastic corner sticking out from the bag. He took
it apart and found 12 clear plastic baggies containing a clear crystal
substance. The substance field-tested positive for meth.
The officer placed Selby under arrest and searched his person. He
found a container with a clear crystal substance that also field-tested
positive for meth. Selby told the officer his friend had set him up, and
he was going to make him pay.
Selby is being charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and maintaining a dwelling where
drugs are sold or kept. He was released on a $20,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on December 4, 2014.

When Atoka County deputies went
to serve an arrest warrant to Atoka man
Charles Douglas Lee Hyatt, 27, on November 6, they found evidence the man was
selling drugs out of his residence.
According to the affidavit, deputies went
to Hyatt’s residence in the 1900 block of
Haskell Street to serve Hyatt with a warrant. The back door was open, a deputy
could see someone’s foot in a bed in the
north bedroom. He yelled into the residence three times that he was with the
sheriff’s office. When no one answered, the
deputy stepped into the house to make sure the person on the bed
was OK.
The man on the bed was Hyatt; when he saw the officer, he jumped
off the bed and tried to hide in a bathroom. It didn’t work. The deputy
placed him under arrest.
While searching the residence for more people, the deputy saw a
glass pipe with a white and burnt residue in plain sight on a chair,
within reach of where Hyatt had been. He then noticed a spoon with
a white substance and a can containing five baggies on the bathroom
counter. There was a set of digital scales on a desk in the bedroom
and two TV monitors that showed two different views of the residence.
There was also a .22 caliber rifle leaning next to the bedroom door.
Police secured a search warrant and search Hyatt’s residence. They
found numerous baggies containing residue, empty baggies, syringes
and a glass pipe with residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Hyatt is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, possession of firearms after conviction or during probation and unlawful use of surveillance equipment. He is being held
in lieu of a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
November 19, 2014.

On Nov. 5, OSBI agents, McClain County Sheriff deputies, a forensic
anthropologist with Offi ce of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the head
of OU’s Crime Scene Archeology Recovery Group are combing an area
of McClain County searching for Troy Neidhart’s remains. Neidhart was
reported missing a dozen years ago.
On September 2002, the Oklahoma City Police Department received a
report that Troy Neidhart, 37, was missing. Neidhart was a local bounty
hunter. As OCPD detectives worked the case, they gathered information
that Neidhart may have been murdered.
On March 15, 2004, skeletal remains were found in McClain County.
The sheriff ’s offi ce requested OSBI investigative assistance. During the
scene investigation, less than half the remains were located. However,
the medical examiner’s offi ce did determine the person died of gunshot
wounds to the back and head.
In 2006, the medical examiner’s offi ce identifi ed the remains found in McClain County to be
Neidhart’s. For the next several years, agents ran numerous leads. Ultimately, the case became
cold.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is off ering up to a $5,000 reward for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who killed Troy Neidhart more than
12 years ago. If anyone has information about what happened to Troy Neidhart, please call the
OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.

Rowdy Levi Roberts, 29, was arrested
October 31 after he allegedly hit his wife
in the head with a baseball bat.
According to the affidavit, a Checotah
police officer was advised by dispatched
that a woman had been assaulted by her
husband, and she was walking toward
the police station.
The officer found the victim walking
on N. Broadway. She told him Roberts
hit her in the head with a baseball bat.
The officer felt of the woman’s head and
felt a large knot.
After taking the victim to the police department, he went to a residence in the 200 block of N.W. Third Street in an attempt to locate
Roberts. When he arrived, a man told him Rowdy ran out the backdoor. That wasn’t true -- the officer found him hiding in a bedroom,
trying to hold the door shut.
Roberts told the officer that he didn’t hurt his wife. He said she was
just trying to get him in trouble.
The officer took Roberts to jail.
He spoke to a witness, who said he was in the bathroom when he
heard the victim screaming. When he walked out of the bathroom,
he saw the woman lying on the floor and Roberts standing over her,
holding a baseball bat.
The victim said that before this incident took place, Roberts was
holding a large butcher’s knife and wouldn’t let her leave the house.
Roberts is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on November 20, 2014.

Idabel man Devonte Theo Ja’rell Lawton, 21, was locked up
after he allegedly fired a gun at his mother and led police on a
high-speed chase through the city.
Kids these days.
On November 9, Idabel police were advised that a woman
had called the police department and told them her son, identified as Lawton, had just shot at her.
According to the affidavit, an officer that was traveling east
on Highway 70 saw a vehicle matching that of the suspect
heading west. He turned around and followed the vehicle, but
he was having trouble catching up to the car. The car kept increasing speed and at one point, the officer was traveling 120
mph and was still unable to catch up to the vehicle.
Just west of the Idabel city limits sign, the car began to slow
down, and it swerved all over the road and across the median, almost hitting a log truck. The
car eventually came to a stop when it crashed into a ditch.
The officer approached the vehicle and ordered Lawton to show him his hands. Once Lawton exited the vehicle and laid face down on the ground, officers placed him under arrest.
While searching Lawton’s person, the officer found a syringe of a liquid that later fieldtested positive for methamphetamine.
In Lawton’s left pocket, a McCurtain County deputy found a box of 12-gauge shotgun
shells. When officers searched the man’s vehicle, they found a spent shotgun casing matching the shells found in the man’s pocket. About 6 feet away from the car, officers found a
shotgun loaded with the same shells as those found in Lawton’s pocket.
The victim’s description of the gun Lawton used to shoot at her matched the gun found at
the scene.
Lawton is being charged with use of vehicle in discharge of weapon, eluding/attempting
to elude police officer, possession of firearm after former felony conviction and possession
of a controlled dangerous substance. His bond was set at $250,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on December 11, 2014.
