RESISTING ARREST
A Siloam Springs, Arkansas, man was arrested for marijuana on his way
home from attending the Choctaw Labor Day Festival.
Jonathan Scott Davis, 19, had several small bags of weed, but he said he
bought it that way and he wasn’t trying to sell it.
The officer didn’t believe him.
On September 5 at approximately 9:43 p.m., a Leflore County deputy saw
a green SUV traveling north on US 59. He saw what appeared to be a lit
cigarette thrown from the passenger side window. There was also a black
film on the back of the vehicle that made it difficult to see the rear tail lights.
He stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver.
While speaking to the driver, the deputy noticed the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver told the deputy they were
heading home from the Labor Day festival.
Another officer arrived on scene and he agreed with the deputy -- the vehicle reeked of weed.
The driver told police his vehicle probably smelled like that because people were smoking it around
him at the concert. The officers asked for consent to search the vehicle -- the driver agreed.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a Pringles can containing six small baggies containing a
green leafy substance. The substance field-tested positive for marijuana. Another bag was found in the
rear passenger floorboard where Davis was sitting.
Davis told police the marijuana they found was his. He said he bought it in the individual packages,
and he didn’t intend to sell it.
Davis told the deputy he was going to go to prison, because he was on probation in Arkansas for
similar offenses.
More marijuana and some paraphernalia was found in a purse in the front floorboard. A juvenile girl
told the deputy a juvenile male in the vehicle had given her the items to hold. The juvenile male told
the deputy she was telling the truth.
Davis is being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. His bond was set at
$10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on September 14, 2015.

JOHNSTON
A Wilburton man totally disregarded brotherly love when
he allegedly waved a gun in his brother’s face and threatened
to kill him on September 6.
Darryl Brent Johnston, 54, was arrested after a spat got a
little too out of hand.
According to the police report, a Latimer County deputy
was dispatched to the 700 block of SE Highway 2 around 10
a.m. due to a man with a gun. When she arrived, he spoke to
a couple who told her the man with the gun went back to his
house.
The female deputy asked them where his house was. The
woman replied, “Two houses down, but don’t you go over
there -- you send a man!”
The deputy disregarded the woman and went to Johnston’s
house to see what was going on. Johnston walked outside,
and she asked him where the gun was. He said inside.
She then asked who else was in the house. He told her his wife and a friend.
When the deputy told Johnston she was going to speak to them, Johnston completely lost
it.
He started screaming and told the deputy, “This is my f------ house, and you’re not talking
to anyone.”
She told him to calm down. He replied, “You’re not going to tell me what the f--- I can do.”
The deputy told Johnston to stand where he was until she talked with everyone inside.
Instead, he started walking to his brother’s house, so the deputy placed him in handcuffs.
More officers arrived to assist, and the deputy when back to the victim’s home. They told
her Johnston came to their home, and the brothers started fighting. The fight became physical and Johnston allegedly told his brother he was going to get his gun and kill him. He later
returned to the residence with a pistol. He pointed it at his sister-in-law’s face and said, “I’ll
kill him, I’ll kill you, bitch.”
Johnston admitted that he took the gun to his brother’s house. He said after the altercation, he walked home and became “more mad” about the fight, so he grabbed his gun and
went back over there.
Johnston is being charged with assault with deadly weapon, feloniously pointing firearm
and disturbing the peace. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on October 6, 2015.

A family hangout turned violent when a Coalgate man allegedly attacked his uncle and hit
his father’s girlfriend, busting both of their lips.
20-year-old Colt Donovan Cagle was arrested for the assault on September 6.
According to the police report, Cagle told police they were just “chilling” when his uncle
started to fight him, so he fought back.
Witnesses and victims at the scene told officers a different story.
Coalgate police were dispatched to the 800 block of Frey Street in Coalgate at approximately 7:50 pm. due to a domestic dispute in progress. When they arrived, they were greeted
by a woman, who told them that her boyfriend’s son, Cagle, became violent and started tearing stuff up in the house for no apparent reason. He also hit her on the face. She had a busted
lip and marks on her face from the altercation.
A man at the residence said he was also a victim of Cagle’s violent rampage -- he also had a busted lip and a swollen spot by his eye.
Police went into the residence and escorted Cagle outside so they could get his side of the story. He told police the
altercation wasn’t his fault. He said they were just chilling and his uncle started to fight him, so he fought back.
Due to witness statements and the victims’ injuries, police placed Cagle under arrest and transported him to jail.
Cagle is being charged with assault and battery. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 29, 2015.

BICKNELL
McAlester man Corey Lee Bicknell, 25, was arrested
after he lost his cool when he caught his ex-girlfriend
baby mama in a car with another man. He allegedly
chased down the couple and destroyed his former
flame’s new man’s truck.
According to the police report, McAlester police were
dispatched to Highway 69 shortly after 10 p.m. The
reporting party said his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend was
chasing them. Apparently, the ex found the couple at
the cinema, damaged the new man’s vehicle and started
chasing them.
The caller said they were unable to exit into town because Bicknell kept cutting them off from exiting.
Bicknell forced the man to drive northbound onto the southbound exit ramp
from Highway 69 to Coal Creek Road. Police found the vehicles driving side by
side. Bicknell was removed from his vehicle by gunpoint and placed under arrest.
The victim told police that Bicknell and the woman have a child together, but
she and the victim were starting a relationship. They were sitting in the woman’s
car at the movie theater when Bicknell drove up. When he started to approach
the car, the man drove off. He looked back and saw Bicknell getting into his truck.
Bicknell then followed them and wouldn’t let them exit. He also tried to run them
off the road. The victim said he was afraid to stop.
When the couple went back to the movie theater, they discovered the man’s
truck stereo was busted, the center console was broken and the shifter was pulled
down and hanging. The truck wouldn’t turn on, and the man said the steering
column was destroyed.
Bicknell is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and burglary
in the second degree. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on October 1, 2015.

Street, he failed to come to a complete
stop and use a turn signal, so the deputy pulled him over.
The driver was identified as Sinyard -- he told the deputy he understood why he was stopped.
The deputy asked the man where he was coming from.
Sinyard said a friend’s house.
The deputy then asked the man if he had anything illegal in the
vehicle.
Sinyard said no and consented to a search. Before the deputy
started searching, however, Sinyard told him he had a marijuana
stem in his car.
On the ground outside the passenger side of the vehicle, officers
found a baggy containing a green leafy substance that smelled like
marijuana. The passenger denied throwing it out of the window.
Sinyard told police he threw the marijuana out of the car and it
was his. He said he “bought” it from his friend. The deputy placed
the man under arrest and transported him to jail.
Sinyard is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on September 29, 2015.

Soper man Isaac Wayne Howser, 42, was arrested for
transporting loaded firearms after an evening of hunting
hogs with his wife. He told a deputy it was okay because he
had a CLEET card; the deputy told him it wasn’t.
A Choctaw County deputy pulled the couple’s vehicle over
at approximately 8:45 p.m. on September 9 because they
failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle tag was also expired.
Before coming to a stop, the deputy saw Howser stick his
hand out of the passenger side window and smash a brown
tobacco substance in this fingers.
Howser’s wife was driving and she knew exactly why she
had been pulled over.
While speaking to the woman, the deputy noticed a rifle
sitting between her and the passenger. There was also a dead
hog on the hood of the car.
He asked them if there were any loaded guns in the car. Howser told him there were at
least two loaded pistols, but the rifle should be empty since they used the last round to shoot
the hog.
The deputy noticed rifle rounds near the center console, as if they had just been ejected
out of the rifle.
The deputy asked the couple to step out of the vehicle. Howser told him he didn’t need a
handgun permit because he had a CLEET card. The deputy said that didn’t mean he could
travel with loaded firearms.
When the deputy asked him what he threw out of the window, Howser at first denied
throwing anything out of the window. He then told the officer it was mud because the vehicle
was muddy.
Two loaded pistols were found in the vehicle -- Howser said they were both his.
The couple told police they had been legally hunting domesticated loose hogs on Howard
McLeod Correctional Facility land. Howser said he had a lifetime hunting license and he
could shoot hogs night and day. The couple said they shot the hog just before dark.
The deputy checked with the correctional facility -- they confirmed the couple checked out
at 8:19 p.m.
The deputy told Howser he was under arrest for transporting the loaded firearms.
Howser is being charged with two counts of transporting loaded firearm in motor vehicle.
He was released on a $392 bond.

An Antlers woman learned the
hard way that you should never
drink and drive, but especially in
the morning.
36-year-old Annalynn Jenette Taylor was arrested after she
drunkenly ran into a school bus
shortly after 8:30 a.m. on September 2. Thankfully, no kids were
harmed during Taylor’s alcoholfueled drive.
According to the police report,
an Antlers officer was dispatched to
the scene of the accident because the woman hit a school bus, then
ran off the road. When he made contact with Taylor, he noticed she
smelled like alcohol, her eyes were red and watery, her speech was
slurred, and she was unsteady on her feet.
The officer tried to administer sobriety tests, but he had to stop
for safety reasons. A preliminary breath test revealed the woman’s
alcohol level was .18, more than twice the legal limit.
During the investigation, the officer learned Taylor didn’t have a
valid driver’s license. She was placed under arrest and transported
to jail.
Taylor is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under
the influence of alcohol and driving without a driver’s license. She
was released on a $1,800 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on October 14, 2015.
School daze Crime fighting technology has progressed substantially, especially in the area of fingerprinting.
Since the late 1800s, fingerprints were cataloged
by Henry Classification System. A fingerprint
technician would search through thousands of
print files to maybe find a match. Today, automation allows fingerprint analysts to load prints
into the Automated Fingerprint Identification
System (AFIS). AFIS then runs the prints against
hundreds of thousands of prints in the system to
find a match. If a match is made by AFIS, a fingerprint analyst then studies the prints to confirm the match. What used to take months now
takes hours, and sometimes a matter of minutes.

A Durant man’s 911 call wound up putting him behind bars
on September 4. He said he called police because he thought
his life was in danger, but he was somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be.
According to the affidavit, dispatch received the man’s call
shortly after 10 p.m. He said someone was chasing him and
caused him to wreck in a ditch in the area of Cooper School
Road and North Lone Oak. He also said someone broke out
his window and tried to tase him.
When the deputy arrived, he found 20-year-old Justin Tyler Long Jr. and his red car stuck in a ditch.
Also on scene were two women who said Long wasn’t even supposed to be in the
area. They told the deputy they were at one of their houses with a woman who had
a protective order against Long.
This had also happened the night before -- police had already spoken to Long
about being in the area.
One of the women said they followed Long, and she got out of the vehicle to
confront the man. When she told him he needed to wait for the sheriff’s office, he
told her, “F--- you bitch!” He also threw a rock at her face.
While speaking with the women, Long approached the deputy and gave him his
account of events. He said he wanted to be honest about what happened. He was
just driving the backroads around one of the women’s houses and was smoking
marijuana. He said when he passed by the woman’s house, several vehicles began
chasing him and that’s why he called 911 -- he thought his life was in danger.
When the deputy asked him why he was in the area in the first place, he initially
refused to answer. He then told the deputy he was just used to driving in the area.
The deputy asked him if he had any friends or family in the area -- Long said no.
Long is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and
protective order violation. His bond was set at $9,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 22, 2015.

Fresno, Texas, woman Shayla Renee Bell, 26, was taken to jail September 2 after she jacked an old lady’s purse at an Atoka supermarket.
According to the affidavit, Atoka
police were dispatched to the grocery store shortly after 1 p.m. because someone took a purse from an
elderly woman. Police found one of
the suspects walking on South Mississippi. She told police her friend,
identified as Bell, left her at the grocery store.
Another officer found Bell and
stopped her vehicle. During the stop,
an officer advised him he was at the
supermarket and watched video surveillance of the theft. Bell had
one purse in her possession, but she claimed it was hers.
When the officer on scene described the purse Bell was carrying,
the officer at the grocery store said it was the same purse she was
carrying when she took the victim’s handbag.
Their culprit was caught!
Bell was placed under arrest. During the arrest, officers were
advised the purse nabbin’ woman also had a warrant out of Tulsa
County.
The victim later told police that she was shopping in the produce
department, and she briefly turned around from her shopping cart.
When she turned back, she noticed a woman moving past her in a
“hurried” manner. She then looked in her cart and noticed her purse
was missing.
Video surveillance showed Bell walking up to the victim and grabbing her purse, before running out of the store.
Bell is being charged with grand larceny from the person of another. She was released on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear
in court on September 16, 2015.

A Checotah couple told police they
saw a John Deere mower on the side of
the road, so they pulled over and loaded
it up.
Tiffany Michele Nimitz, 34, and Scott
Allen Lane, 35, were arrested after police found the stolen mower at Lane’s
brother’s house.
According to the affidavit, Checotah
police were advised of the stolen mower
on September 8. They were told Lane
possibly had it. An officer knew Lane
from previous incidents, so he headed to
the man’s home to check it out.
While looking for the mower, the officer saw one that matched the description of the stolen John Deere at Lane’s
brother’s residence in the 200 block of
Shady Grove Road. He pulled into the
driveway. Lane’s sister-in-law came outside. When the officer asked her about
the mower, she told him Lane dropped
it off.
While they were speaking, Nimitz
pulled up. She told the officer she and
her husband picked it up off the side
of the highway -- she said it was on the
northbound ramp to 69 by Atwood’s. Nimitz said they drove by and
saw it, so they pulled up and loaded it into the back of their truck.
Lane arrived at the residence while they were speaking, and he told
them the same story. He said he and his wife found the mower on the
highway and they took it home. When his mom told him police were
looking for him, he took the mower to his brother’s house.
Nimitz and Lane are being charged with knowingly concealing
stolen property. They were both released on $5,000 bonds and are
scheduled to appear in court on November 18, 2015.

A Valliant woman was arrested September 3 after police caught
her driving around Wright City under the influence of a lot of pills.
She denied taking pills that day, but her poor driving and witnesses
said otherwise.
According to the police report, a Wright City officer contacted a
state trooper and said “an intoxicated person who had taken a lot
of prescription meds” was driving around in a black truck. Shortly after, they found the person, 41-year-old Alisha Deann Young,
slumped over her steering wheel on 10th Street. The vehicle was
running and in gear -- Young’s foot was on the brake.
Young had droopy eyelids and her pupils looked constricted. The
trooper tried speaking to her, but Young’s speech was slurred and
she seemed to be disoriented. She told police she had taken several
Hydrocodone pills and several other narcotics the day before. She denied taking anything that
day.
The Wright City officer told the trooper witnesses reported that they saw Young take 10
Hydrocodone pills earlier that day.
The trooper conducted standard field sobriety tests and it was obvious the woman was under the influence of something. A preliminary breath test revealed it wasn’t alcohol.
The trooper placed the woman under arrest and took her to the hospital for treatment. After
she was released, he took her to jail.
Young is being charged with actual physical control of vehicle while under the influence. She
was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 30, 2015.
