DRUG DEALERS DONE
Two LeFlore County drug dealers are off the
streets- at least for a little while- after a judge
handed down their sentences earlier this month.
Shauna Raye Henderson, 46, of Poteau, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 24 months each for one
count of distribution of fentanyl and one count of
distribution of methamphetamine. The terms are
set to be served concurrently.
The charges arose from an investigation by the
Drug Enforcement Administration, the Oklahoma
Bureau of Narcotics, the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, and the District 16 Drug Task Force.
On March 12, 2024, Henderson pleaded guilty
to the charges.
According to investigators, on March 9, 2023,
Henderson sold pills containing approximately 5
grams of fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance. On June 22, 2023, Henderson sold approximately 55 grams of methamphetamine, a
Schedule II controlled substance.
Henderson will remain in the custody of the U.S.
Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons
facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.
Presley Edward Lawson, 50, of Spiro, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for
one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office,
and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Trails Task Force.
On October 3, 2023, Lawson pleaded guilty to Distribution of Methamphetamine. According to investigators, on June 8, 2022, Lawson sold over 222
grams—approximately one half-pound—of methamphetamine, a Schedule II
controlled substance.
Lawson will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation
to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

AROUND THE NATION
Foiled again
During the early morning hours of November 7, A
Brevard County (Florida) sheriff’s deputy was out on a
leisurely patrol in a wooded area when he came upon
Matthew Korecky who quickly grabbed a piece of aluminum foil, along with a bag containing a green powdery substance that he retrieved from a yellow box near
his feet.
As soon as the confronted Korecky, he tried to hide
the items under his body, hoping the deputy hadn’t seen his actions. Unfortunately for
him, he wasn’t quick enough and the deputy detained Korecky and collected the unknown items. As things progressed, it didn’t take long before the deputy located not only
the drugs he was trying to hide, but more drugs and a firearm that had been reported
stolen out of a nearby police station’s jurisdiction.
In total, Korecky had 17.4g of methamphetamine, 4 pills identified as muscle relaxers,
and approximately 8.3 grams of Fentanyl, which if put into a lethal dose would be enough
to kill just over 4,000 people.
To top it all off, Korecky is a convicted felon and is unable to legally possess firearms,
but clearly he doesn’t obey the law.
The good news is that Korecky is now residing in the big house on no bond, as he was
arrested for Trafficking in Fentanyl, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession
of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Use/
Display Firearm or Carry Conceal Firearm
During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. JACKIE

DISCOVERYLAND
Two people are facing murder charges after an
extensive investigation, two years after the body
of their victim was identified.
According to OSBI, on September 28, 2012,
the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office requested the
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the suspicious disappearance of 54-year-old
Barbara Durant.
Durant had not been seen or heard from since
July 9, 2012. Several investigative measures were
performed by OSBI special agents and Pittsburg
County deputies; however, Durant could not be
located.
On February 1, 2020, the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office requested the OSBI to investigate skeletal remains located in rural Wilburton. Those remains were transported to the Office of the Chief
Medical Examiner for identification and to determine a cause and manner of death.
On February 4, 2020, the Medical Examiner’s
Office positively identified the remains as Durant.
Her cause of death was determined to be from a gunshot wound. As the investigation continued, OSBI special agents and Pittsburg County investigators
identified two suspects: 68-year-old Mary Ballard (Brochu) and 49-year-old Billy Thomason. Based on the information and evidence obtained, Ballard and
Thomason were both charged on October 25, 2024, with First-Degree Murder
through the Pittsburg County District Attorney’s Office.
On October 28, Ballard was arrested by the United States Marshals Service
and the Natchitoches Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana. Thomason was already in
custody through the Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. This is still
an ongoing investigation at this time.
The OSBI would like to thank the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, United
States Marshals Service, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pittsburg County
District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for their
assistance.

AROUND THE STATE
Can you shoot at a drone? – Nope, and here is a
recent incident about it.
On Nov. 6, around 5:15 p.m., Officers responded to a call about shots fired behind a church at
9120 E. Broken Arrow Expressway.
Security at the church said they saw a man
walking near their building, then heard a gunshot
ring out from the suspect’s location.
Officers arrived and quickly found the suspect, Blake Butler, on a nearby trail.
Butler admitted to having a gun concealed in his waistband. Blake surrendered
without incident, and police were able to recover the semi-automatic pistol.
While determining if Butler was just randomly firing a pistol or if he had a specific target, Officers located a man who said he was flying his drone in preparation
of a nearby event. The man said Butler pulled out a pistol and fired at the drone.
When we questioned Butler about it, he told officers that he thought the drone
was following him, so he shot at it.
Blake Butler was arrested for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Possession
of a Firearm AFCF. No one was injured in this incident, including the UAS.

DECEMBER IS NATIONAL IMPAIRED
DRIVING PREVENTION MONTH
Two of the most celebrated dates in December –
Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve – are also among
the most dangerous. In 2018, drunk driving crashes
claimed 108 lives in those two days alone, accounting
for nearly half of total traffic deaths.
That is why Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD)
is teaming up with law enforcement agencies across
the country throughout the month of December, which
has been recognized as National Impaired Driving Prevention Month for the 39th consecutive year.
During December 2018, 839 people died in alcohol-related crashes, according to the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While drunk driving deaths typically represent around a third of all traffic fatalities, that increased to nearly 50 percent on Dec. 24
and Dec. 31.
On Dec. 25, 2018, 35 people died in drunk driving crashes.
This is staggering.
The pain caused by one person’s choice to drive impaired is often permanent. Every
single death left a permanent empty seat at the table and turned a time of celebration
into tragedy.
And every single death was 100 percent preventable.
We’re asking everyone to take personal responsibility this holiday season by making
a plan for a safe ride home before your celebrations begin. Designate a non-drinking,
unimpaired driver. Take a taxi, a bus, or a train. Use a rideshare app like Uber. If you’re a
host, provide an alternative to your guests, such as festive, non-alcoholic drinks offered
by our partner Mocktail Beverages.
You can also show your commitment to drive sober by displaying one of our Tie One
On for Safety red ribbons or magnetic decals on your vehicle, which are available at our
local MADD offices around the country.
Drunk driving crashes increase throughout the month of December as more people
travel and attend events where alcohol is served. That is why every U.S. President since
Ronald Reagan has proclaimed December National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.
President Donald Trump continued in that tradition this month, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to prevent tragedies by making the decision to drive sober.
The proclamation also remembers victims of impaired driving, offers prayers for grieving families impacted by these tragedies and honors law enforcement who are on the
front lines of the violent, preventable crime of impaired driving. AARON

THAT'S METHED UP!
Officers recently found and seized almost $6 million worth of methamphetamine in less than two weeks at the United States-Mexico
border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced. Officials
said the drug hauls were discovered in two separate incidents, hidden
inside a shipment of celery and wrapped in packaging designed to resemble watermelons.
The first seizure happened on the evening of August 9, when border agents at the Otay Mesa
Commercial Facility, an inspection port just over the southern border in San Diego, found 629
pounds of methamphetamine in a grocery shipping crate filled with celery. Border Patrol said that
agents discovered the narcotics while performing an inspection on a commercial tractor-trailer, driven by a 34-year-old man with a legitimate border crossing card who entered the U.S. from Mexico
with cargo on board his truck. The driver was transporting a shipment that had been declared as
celery, according to the federal authorities.
Agents used a K-9 unit to do the inspection, which revealed 508 packages that testing later
confirmed contained methamphetamine. Border Patrol said the haul had an estimated street value
of $755,000.
“Our officers’ vigilance and expertise once again thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics disguised as everyday produce,” said Rosa Hernandez, the port director for Otay Mesa, in a statement.
As San Diego County contends with a well-documented crisis over methamphetamine abuse that
has run rampant for decades and is linked to smuggling, Hernandez noted in that statement the
agency’s “commitment to protecting our communities from the perils of drug trafficking.”
Less than two weeks after the celery seizure, agents at the same inspection facility in Otay Mesa
discovered an even larger haul of methamphetamine. This time, the produce meant to conceal the
drugs was fake.
Another commercial tractor-trailer, driven by a 29-year-old man said to be transporting watermelons from Mexico into the U.S., was found to contain 1,220 packages of methamphetamine,
according to the Border Patrol. The drugs were wrapped inside packaging that might be mistaken
for watermelon from a distance. But closer inspection revealed the packages were actually filled with
4,587 pounds of meth, a haul with a street value exceeding $5 million, according to the agency.
Both of these seizures came as part of Operation Apollo, an ongoing project to combat trafficking
of fentanyl, a synthetic drug that the U.S. government has declared as a leading source of the current
opioid overdose epidemic in this country. It’s focused in California and Arizona.
The discoveries in California bookended a third, similar incident in Georgia, where agents found more than 2,300 pounds
of meth hidden inside a truck carrying celery at a farmer’s market outside of Atlanta. Earlier this year, six tons of meth were
discovered inside a shipment of squash in California, after
3,000 pounds of the narcotic and cocaine were found
last year in bins of jalapeño
paste that were being transported over the border. Traffickers have also stashed
drugs inside shipments of
green beans, sugar, flour and
candy.
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless
