Broken Bow man Sheric Antonique Johnson,
28, was locked up after he allegedly stole $59
from a local convenience store on February 18.
According to the police report, Broken Bow
officers were dispatched to the EZ-Mart in the
300 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard at
approximately 10:30 p.m. to investigate the
robbery.
A cashier told police a man walked into the
store holding a brown hoodie over his face and
what she believed to be a taser in his hand. He
demanded that she give him money.
She handed over the cash, and he left the
store.
On February 19, the officer spoke with another woman who also worked
at EZ-Mart. She told him she had watched the video of the robbery, and
she recognized the voice of the suspect. She said the voice belonged to
Johnson.
The officer also viewed the security footage from the day before. It appeared Johnson entered the store at approximately 6:43 p.m. prior to the
robbery. He was wearing the same clothes as the suspect.
Officers headed toward Johnson’s residence on Dierks Street at approximately 11:50 a.m. The suspect’s mother answered the door. She
told officers she wasn’t sure if her son was home, but she gave them
permission to search the residence. They found him hiding in a bedroom
closet.
An officer informed the man he was under arrest, and he placed him in
handcuffs. He asked Johnson if he had used a weapon or a taser during
the robbery. Johnson said he had used a remote control, not a weapon.
He also told the officer he had stolen about $59 from the store, but the
money was already gone.
Johnson is being charged with robbery in the first degree. His bond was
set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 11, 2017.

We here at Jailbirds realize the importance of child support to working families. We also realize it’s a real problem
in Oklahoma that custodial parents aren’t getting the money owed to them. Too many deadbeat parents are getting
away with not supporting their children and our “powers
that be” continue to turn a blind eye to it. So, Jailbirds taking a different approach in helping find deadbeat parents. In
the past, we’ve relied on the DHS website to get info, but
it is pretty lame, as you may have noticed. If you are owed
money from a non-custodial parent, it was court-ordered,
they haven’t paid, and they have a warrant for their arrest, please email news@okjailbirds.
com with the name of the parent in arrears, how much they owe, and what county the
money is owed through. We will try our hardest to confirm the warrant and feature them on
our expanded Deadbeat Parents page. The key here is that they MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE
WARRANT so we can confirm the charge. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE PERSON’S NAME

Nicole R: Moms who can’t or won’t financially support her children get reduced
housing, food stamps, insurance , educational grants, TANF etc.... dads who can’t or
won’t financially support his children get jail, liens on property, tax returns intercepted,
licenses and permits suspended , and a nice picture on jailbirds. Biased much?
Jailbirds: No, we are not biased. We don’t make the rules. But we do know the rules
and laws need to be changed. It’s not working now. Wouldn’t you agree? If you don’t like
the way things are done now, pick up your phone and call your representative. Put pressure on them. We are.
David S: You are absolutely correct. Sure glad I’m not the only one who sees that. My
ex owes over 50K to her first kids father. She receives food stamps, insurance, etc. Yet,
if I get one month behind they threaten me with suspension on my DL. Oh did I mention
we have 50/50 custody and my child is with me half the time!!! Oh I can tell so much more
about how the child support system sucks. BTW in Oklahoma the child support is handled
by a third party who claims to be with the state. Such a crock.
Nicole R: it’s most definitely not working. 50/50 custody when possible , between 2
fit parents, could alleviate financial burdens on both sides. Jailbirds, done, done and done!
The Father’s Rights Movement page is a great support page for fathers dealing with these
issues.
Jailbirds : *smh* This is NOT about us or even you! It’s about your children! Who
ever said life was fair? Do what’s right and don’t let your kids go without basic things, even
if the other parent is not doing their part. Children need to grow up in a relatively healthy
environment. They need BOTH parents’ support, but can still thrive with only one! I grew
up with an alcoholic father who never paid my mom one dime of child support!! Each one
of us five kids grew up to go to vo-tech or college because we had at least one parent who
thought of us instead of herself. She paid a heavy price for us, and if my dad hadn’t been
a deadbeat, we would have had a much easier time putting food on the table. Growing up
on Rice-a-roni is crap. So don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about because I’m a
“victim” of our system too. Only thing is, I chose NOT TO BE A VICTIM!

and enforced differently based on gender.

I’m glad to hear you and your siblings grew up right. Gives me inspiration while I’m raising
my kids.
Jason P: I am from Arkansas and have wilfully paid my child support for 17 years
without missing a single payment. 3 years ago I remarried and my wife is from Oklahoma
she brought her 2 young daughters and I was appalled that the State of Oklahoma Child
Support Services were so out of touch enforcing noncustodial to pay their support. The
individual that owes his children is over $5k in arrears and has never made an effort in
the 3 years to wilfully pay. They seem to allow the deadbeats to slip through the system
unscathed. I and their mother support the children 100%. It doesn’t seem right that a
deadbeat of this magnitude should be allowed to keep getting away with it but I’m convinced that Oklahomas Child Support Services are,lacking a backbone or they are to lazy
to enforce the court orders. This guy has been threatened to loose his license have his
bank account froze and so forth but OCSE let’s him pay a one time payment of $50 and
all is good in their books and they drop the hearings on the matter. It’s sad that an agency
that is supposed to support the custodial parent and child support the deadbeats instead.
All I can say to Oklahoma OSCE is your lucky that the custodial parent and step parent
pick up your slack.

Keith G: Child support is a joke in Oklahoma. The ones who need the child support
can’t get it and the people who completely ruin there ex’s life over it don’t need as much
as they claim they need because that person makes good money. To base child support
off of ones income is complete bullshit.
David S: That’s absolutely correct. Based on your income is BS. I have 50/50 custody. My child is with me at least 50 percent of the time. Yet I still have to pay child support? That’s BS. I also provide transportation to his school which is about 30 miles away
from my home. Such BS.
Keith G: The Oklahoma court system definitely favors the women, I was lucky and my
ex never even asked showed up in my case. Hasn’t been in the picture for almost 5 years
and never have I seen any child support money. Never even showed up*
Jenn H: I beg to differ, in my case it came down to who had the most money for the
best attorney.
Keith G: Sounds like you got a fair deal then, just good it should be, right? Just how*
Christina H: I don’t see Oklahoma favoring woman.....That’s just not true...I was in
a abusive relationship for years all his charges were dropped at court...I fight back once I
go to jail.. Have to pay him(my abuser) 5000 dollars and loose my kids....I pay child support...Have no problem doing that....But he never payed me a dime when I had the kids
so where is the favoritism?
David S: I’m glad you have stepped up and are showing not all us fathers are deadbeat. Keep up the great work. The kid(s) are what matters. Well Christina there are some
circumstances that it may go in another direction, but on a majority the women are favored. Though I’m sure there is much more to the story, and the violence certainly changes
things.
Christina H: Yes...I also think the county has a lot to do with it....Here the men are
definitely favored...No matter what the situation is....
Keith G: I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I based my comment off of opinion and circumstances that I’ve seen my good friends (male) go through. I hate to see anyone who
really wants to be there for their kids go through the process of it all. I hope eventually
everything works out for you Christina Horne. David, I appreciate the thanks, I couldn’t do
it without the support of my family and girlfriend. They stepped up when I needed them
the most and it has helped tremendously. Keep doing what your doing for your kids buddy.
One day these kids are going to be old enough to realize the the shit you had to go through
to see them and what you did for them.
Charley E: The DHS child-enforcement division is full if idiots who don’t know their
head from a hole in the ground. It would do the state a great service to remove Jeff Lake
(the director), and fire every corrupt employee they have. Start from scratch on the rebuild
with people who really do want to help.

Becky M: I’ve been waiting for over 20 years and it being across state lines makes
it more difficult. Child support division here can’t seem to find him to serve him....and he
won’t work unless it’s cash under the table. And he has had more kids with other women
since we divorced.
Betty S: Wow...I hate that Child Support Enforcement isn’t working well for all of you.
They got me ALL of my back support. TWICE. And this was on a dad that didn’t work the
type of job where his check could be garnished.
Kimberly M: Iv got a dad who owes his children since one was 2 and the other 4.
Never paid a dime, went to the system ever time and was told oh were sorry he gets paid
under the table . I’m glade you had a worker who word for you.
Betty S: Don’t get me wrong... It did have to get all the way past $10,000 each time
and to the point of issuing a warrant for him to get it paid. But it did work each time.
Jerry J: Problem is if someone owes back child support and they have a warrant they
know they can go down and pay say 50 bucks and the warrant will be withdrawn. That
should be fixed once a warrant is taken out arrest them set thier bail for the full amount of
back support with it going to the custodial parent
Jenn H: My ex owes way too much to do that. I’d be happy if he had to pay say $300
and agree to start paying monthly or they’d pick him up again. Maybe it should be you pay
a percentage or if it’s under a certain amount you pay in full. But if it’s to the point of being
arrested it’s going to be such a large amount that it won’t be possible.

A jealous Coalgate man was locked up after
he allegedly rammed his vehicle into another
man’s truck on March 7.
36-year-old Jackie Wayne Rutherford, a
convicted felon, was angry that his ex was
with the other man because the man had recently gotten into some trouble in Texas.
According to the affidavit, an Atoka County
deputy was dispatched to a residence in the
400 block of North Coal Creek Road due to
an assault and battery. He met with a woman,
who said she and Rutherford used to be in a
relationship. They had been at the casino in
Stringtown with some friends, and her friends
left her there with Rutherford. She didn’t want
to ride with him, so she called another man to come pick her up. When she
and the other man left the casino, Rutherford followed them.
When the woman and her friend arrived at her residence, Rutherford was
there, and he wasn’t happy. He rammed the other man’s truck and shot at
the vehicle.
A deputy noticed a place on the victim’s fender where it had been hit by
a bullet.
A man who left the casino with Rutherford said Rutherford followed the
truck the woman was riding in, swerving at it several times. Rutherford
drove to the woman’s residence, and they waited for the woman and other
man for approximately 1 ½ hours. When they finally showed up, Rutherford
started arguing with them and attempted to ram his car into the man’s
truck. He then jumped out of his car and shot at the other man’s truck. The
other man then rammed his truck into Rutherford’s car.
Rutherford attempted to flee the area, but he was later arrested in Lehigh. He told police he didn’t want his ex to leave the casino with the other
man, because the other man had just gotten into trouble in Texas for drug
charges, and she didn’t need to be with him.
When she left with him anyway, he followed them to her residence. They
started arguing, so he attempted to ram his car into the man’s truck. The
other man then rammed his car numerous times.
Rutherford is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon,
possession of firearm after former felony conviction and malicious injury to
property under $1,000. His bond was set at $250,000, and he is scheduled
to appear in court on March 22, 2017.

Checotah man Jess William Reynolds, 52, and
51-year-old Doniece Carol Shaw from Coalgate
were arrested after police located drugs in their
vehicle on March 8.
According to the affidavit, Tupelo officers were
dispatched to the Tupelo Travel Stop at approximately 2:30 p.m. due to two intoxicated individuals at the store. When officers arrived, they met
with store employees who directed them to a tan
SUV parked out back.
Officers made contact with the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Shaw and Reynolds.
Shaw immediately started yelling obscenities at
the officers. One of the officers advised Shaw that
they had dispatched to the location due to “suspicious persons.”
While they were speaking, Shaw kept raising
her voice and yelling at the officer. She demanded
that he let her make some phone calls.
The officer warned her that if she didn’t calm
down, he was going to place her under arrest for
obstruction. She didn’t.
In addition to her belligerent behavior, the woman had slurred speech, she was unsteady on her
feet and her mood kept changing rapidly from angry to calm. She was
abusive toward officers and refused to answer questions, so an officer
told her to place her arms behind her back. When he went to grab her
right arm, she pulled away and attempted to resist getting arrested.
After a brief struggle, the officer placed her in handcuffs.
While an officer was speaking with Reynolds, he noticed that the man’s
eyes were dilated and bloodshot, and his speech was slurred.
Before taking the couple to jail, officers conducted an inventory of their
vehicle. They found a spoon with a white residue, a crystal substance, a
“scrape” spoon, clear baggies, and a digital scale.
They also located a maroon jacket, which Reynolds said belonged to
him. In the jacket pocket, an officer located two large meth rocks.
The couple refused to speak to officers about the drugs.
Reynolds is being charged with unlawful possession of controlled
drug with intent to distribute and public intoxication. His bond was set
at $50,000.
Shaw is being charged with obstructing an officer, public intoxication,
resisting an officer and unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent
to distribute. Her bond was set at $54,000.
They are both scheduled to appear in court on March 30, 2017.

A Hugo man was locked up after he
threatened to burn down a man’s wrecker
service and home because he couldn’t get
his truck back.
On February 16 at approximately 3:30
p.m., the victim went the the Choctaw
County Sheriff’s Office and advised that
30-year-old Michael Lee Ross had been
calling and threatening him all day. The
victim said he had tried to handle the situation on his own, but Ross continued to
call him and make verbal threats.
While they were speaking, Ross called
the victim several times. The victim answered the phone and advised the man
that he was at the sheriff’s office filing a report regarding the threats. Ross
made several statements such as he was going to burn down the sheriff’s
office and all the bitches in there, f--- you all, and he was going to burn
down the victim’s wrecker service, his home, and everyone in it.
The victim warned the man that if he didn’t stop calling and making
threats, the sheriff’s office was going to intervene.
Ross replied that he would kill anyone who came to his residence.
After the victim finished giving his statement, the deputy headed to
Ross’s house in the 400 block of South Fourth Street. When he arrived,
the front door was wide open and Ross was standing in the doorway.
The deputy asked the man to step outside.
Ross told him to go f--- himself before slamming the door. The deputy
heard what appeared to be a weapon being chambered.
A short time later, Ross walked out of the house and he was immediately placed under arrest.
The man told the officer that his truck was at the victim’s wrecker service business and he was upset because he couldn’t get his vehicle back
and he was being accused of grand larceny of an automobile.
Officers later obtained a search warrant for the man’s home, and they
located narcotics and paraphernalia.
Ross is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and placing
obscene/threatening/harassing phone call. He was released on a $12,000
bond, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 28, 2017.
