males.
Within one to one and a half hours after the shooting,
both the vehicle and suspects were reported in Campo and
Springfi eld, Colorado, convenience stores approaching

A Broken Bow man was arrested after yelling racial slurs at a group of people
and injuring a man with a crow bar.
On July 21, Broken Bow police responded to a fight in progress with weapons. According to the police report, when they arrived, a large group of people
ran to the patrol car. The police made contact with a man who had a large gash
on his forehead. EMS was called to take the man to the hospital.
A witness told police that a man had just hit the victim in the head with a crow
bar. As the witness took police toward the man’s house, the subject, 22-yearold Brantley Kyle Barrick, walked toward them, smoking a cigarette.
Barrick was placed into handcuffs for safety until police could obtain more
information about the situation.
Witnesses told police that Barrick had run into an upstairs apartment,
grabbed a long crow bar and threw the crow bar into a group of people while
yelling racial slurs. Some witnesses said that Barrick went back into his apartment and retrieved a gun right before police arrived.
While an officer was interviewing witnesses, Barrick continued to call people derogatory names.
Barrick was placed under arrest and was transported to McCurtain County Jail. On the way to the jail, he
started hitting his head on the cage of the patrol car. The officer asked him to stop and Barrick replied, “Stop
the car, mother (expletive) and make me.”
Barrick continued to hit his head on the car and spout off expletives and vulgar statements to the officer. He
began kicking the passenger window on the patrol car and separated the window frame from the door.
Two male jailers assisted in removing Barrick from the vehicle and the angry man was placed in a restraint
chair.
The officer went to speak to the victim at the hospital. The victim told the officer he was outside when he saw
Barrick arguing with another man. Barrick ran upstairs, grabbed a crow bar and threw it into the crowd, hitting
the victim in the forehead and knocking him to the ground.
Barrick is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, use of language to cause breach
of peace, injure or molest a motor vehicle and public intoxication. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug.
26, 2013. Bond information was not available at time of publication.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt’s Victim Services Unit reminds
crime victims in Oklahoma to register with the Victim Information
and Notification Everyday (VINE) program to receive inmate
alerts.
The reminder comes after concerns related to media reports
of possible inmate releases due to a recent court decision on the
state’s sex offender registry.
“Victims of crime can be impacted by hearing stories of even
possible release of offenders, and they need instant access to
information to determine their location,” Pruitt said. “Victims of
crime don’t deserve to be victimized twice.”
The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE)
program is a free and anonymous service that allows Oklahomans
to register and be notified about changes in the status of Oklahoma
inmates. The service notifies participants with inmates’ current
status information such as general release date, escape, returns
from escape, death, out to court and unsupervised custody. VINE
offers multiple ways to receive notifications.
The newest way to receive VINE notifications is through the
Attorney General’s VINEmobile app, which allows victims of crime
and the public to use smart phones or tablets to receive alerts.
The AG’s VINE notification program provides free instant access
to information 24 hours a day year-round. VINE transfers data
every 15 minutes from county jails. Data from the state Department
of Corrections and probation and parole is processed each evening.
To sign up for the VINE program, Oklahomans can log onto
www.vinelink.com or call (877) OK4-VINE.

CRAPPY WAY TO GO TO JAIL
A woman taking her 7-year-old daughter to the restroom at a
Keystone Lake park saw a man looking up at her from inside a
public toilet. The man, 52-year-old Kenneth Webster Enlow, was
arrested on a Peeping Tom complaint.
Tulsa County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to White Water
Park women’s bathroom July 7 by a park ranger. The park, on the
southeast side of Keystone Dam, has toilet facilities that include a
septic tank under a cement slab. A plastic toilet seat sets over the
hole that allows access for septic service, according to an arrest
report.
Deputy Brian Osman said in his arrest report that he saw Enlow
standing in the septic tank. Keystone Fire and Rescue helped Enlow climb out of the
toilet and used a fire hose to clean him off.
Enlow first told authorities his girlfriend “Angel” hit him in the head with a tire iron
and dumped him in the toilet. Enlow did not have any fresh injuries that backed up his
story.
Enlow was taken to Tulsa County Jail where he was booked on a Peeping Tom
complaint and on outstanding warrants from Okmulgee County.

It’s a well-known fact that if you’re
a felon, you shouldn’t have a firearm.
Yet, some felons fail to grasp this
concept.
On July 30, an officer with the
Atoka Police Department found a
loaded shotgun behind the backseat
of a convicted felon’s vehicle after
conducting a traffic stop. According
to the police report, the officer pulled
the man over after watching him
travel westbound approaching an intersection, begin to turn north, then
stop and turn on his left turn signal
before continuing his turn.
He asked the driver, 33-year-old James Heath Gibson of Atoka,
for his driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Gibson told the officer that he had insurance, but did not possess
a driver’s license.
The officer asked him if his license was suspended and Gibson admitted that it was. After confirming the suspension, the officer also
found out that Gibson’s insurance was unconfirmed. Gibson was
placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license and failure
to carry a current security verification form.
The officer located the shotgun, with the stock missing and a round
of ammunition in the chamber, behind the back seats while conducting an inventory of the vehicle.
Gibson was transported to the Atoka County Jail.
Gibson is being charged with possession of firearm after former
felony conviction. His bond was set at $11,000 and he is scheduled
to appear in court on Aug. 21, 2013.

Phillip Williams was an unhappy consumer.
So he stopped two Tampa, Florida, police offi -
cers, handed over his crack pipe, and asked if they
wouldn’t mind testing the crack cocaine that he’d
bought earlier, just to make sure it was the real
deal. Good news! It was. Bad news! They arrested
him.
A 17-year-old suspected arsonist approached a
car in Lambertville, Michigan, intending to siphon
gas from it. What he forgot to do was ask permission from the detective sitting in the front seat.
When Sheboygan, Wisconsin, police pulled over
a car for not having proper registration, a passenger did what many criminals do — he supplied the
cops with an alias. Bad move. Turns out, that particular alias was wanted for vehicular homicide.
Alexander D. Smith walked into an Augusta,
Georgia, bank and tried to open an account with a
$1 million bill. Great idea — except there is no such
thing as a $1 million bill.
Two machete-wielding men barged into a Sydney, Australia, bar demanding money. Because
they didn’t know the club was hosting a bikers’
meeting, one ended up in the hospital, the other
hog-tied with electrical wire.
Convicted of receiving stolen property, James
Wombles, 37, had to wear an ankle bracelet as
part of his parole. The bracelet came complete
with a GPS monitoring system that let cops track
his every move. Over the course of a few weeks,
the Riverside, Ohio, man allegedly broke into six
homes. You know where this is going — just as the
cops knew where Wombles was going. Following
the signals from his bracelet, they tracked him to
his car, where they found him sitting on the stolen
booty.
When Ellis Cleveland was arrested in Honolulu,
a detective informed him he was suspected of robbing four banks. “Four?” responded Cleveland,
according to the detective’s affi davit. “I didn’t do
four; I only robbed three banks.”

A 22-year-old Coalgate man faces felony charges after a
police officer spotted him trying to trade a stolen gun for a
4-wheeler.
Henary Bayles, 21, was charged August 5 with knowingly
concealing stolen property in Coal County District Court.
According to the affidavit, Coalgate Assistant Police Chief
Steven Jett said he was on routine patrol when he noticed two
men parked on the side of the street. When he got out to see
what was up, he noticed a revolver in one of the men’s hand.
The case was laying on the floorboard beside Bayles.
Bayles explained to Jett that he was trading the gun for a
4-wheeler or dirt bike. Jett ran a serial check on the revolver
and discovered it was stolen out of Noble County. During the
check, the other man asked Bayles several times if the gun was
stolen, of which Bayles had replied yes once and no twice.
At first, Bayles told Jett he had gotten the gun for his birthday, but then said he had bought
it for $250 from another man.
Jett also discovered had an active protective order against him.
Bayles was taken to jail and booked in.

death row
Anthony Rozelle Banks
An Oklahoma death row inmate set to die
in September has waived his right to seek
clemency from the state Pardon and Parole
Board.
Anthony Rozelle Banks is set to be executed
on Sept. 10. He was convicted in the 1979
rape and murder of Sun I. Kim Travis in
Tulsa County. The conviction came 20 years
after the crime because of newly discovered
DNA evidence. Banks had been serving a noparole life sentence for an unrelated killing
in which he originally had been sentenced to
death. An appeal reversed that conviction,
and he made a plea bargain to avoid death.
A co-defendant, Allen Wayne Nelson, received a life sentence.
Banks and Nelson were charged in August 1997 when the DNA of both
men was detected in evidence found on the victim.
Banks has been on death row since November 14, 1999.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

An Antlers man wanted by police got himself into
more trouble after he resisted arrest and broke a bone
in a deputy’s hand.
Eddie Minton, 27, was charged July 10 with aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, assault
and battery on a police officer, two counts of possession of CDS, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and resisting arrest in Pushmataha County District Court.
According to the affidavit, deputies were sent to do a
welfare check on a man at the Sportsman Inn in Antlers and discovered Minton trying to hide behind the
door. There was an outstanding warrant on Minton,
so deputies tried to arrest him, but he pulled away and
took off running. While resisting arrest, he fractured a
bone in one of the deputy’s hands.
Minton was eventually caught, and when searched, deputies found a marijuana
roach and meth in his pants pocket.
Minton was booked into the Pushmataha County Jail where he later posted a
$15,000 bond.

CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A Bennington couple was taken into custody July 23 after an witness alerted police to a vehicle involved in the theft of copper wire
from a SEEC utility pole on Midway Road.
The tip led deputies to the home in Bokchito. The person there
told the deputies he hadn’t wanted anything to do with the theft because he was on probation, and that two of his friends, James Bragg,
47, and Erin Gerisch, 33, had talked him into it.
Deputies located the man’s two friends at their house at the intersection of Rawls and Durant Streets in Bennington. When asked
about the copper theft, Braggs denied knowing anything and said he
wasn’t talking to them.
As the deputies prodded the couple more, both of them kept commenting about how their friend had “sold them out” and “threw
them under the bus.” They then turned the situation back onto their
friend and said it was all his idea.
Bragg and Gerisch were placed in cuffs and put into a patrol car.
On the way to jail, the two argued the whole way until another car
was called to separate them and transport Gerisch on to jail.
Both Bragg and Gerisch were charged with entering to steal copper and possession of burglary tools. Bond was set at $5000 each.
What are friends for?

Reports of crime in the
neighborhood can make
one feel uneasy. The
affected community may
work to rebuild its sense
of security by hiring more
police, improving street
lighting, and imposing
strict curfews. In addition
to this, community efforts
to reduce poverty and
provide better educational
opportunities for all community members can help eliminate
crimes of desperation and strengthen the fiber of the community.
To eliminate crime entirely, wouldn’t we also need to address
other issues that cause criminal behavior? Wouldn’t we need to
address things such as dishonesty, disrespect, greed, and hatred
that seem to come from within individuals? As Jesus pointed
out, “Evil thoughts come out of the heart” (Matthew 15:19 New
International Reader’s Version). To end criminal behavior, we
need to reach the heart of people with the healing touch of divine
Love.
Jesus’ life, recorded in the Bible, shows us how to love as God
loves. This spiritual love changes people’s hearts. Knowing that
God is only good and is the true Father and Mother, the governing
Principle, of all humanity, Jesus looked beyond the erring human
personality to discern the pure and perfect spiritual identity of an
individual. Jesus loved – deeply appreciated and acknowledged –
this true identity. When he met Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector,
Jesus loved him as God had created him, looking beyond his
corrupt behavior to perceive reality – Zacchaeus’ honesty and
uprightness (see Luke 19:2-8). This perfect love reached the heart
of Zacchaeus and changed his behavior. He pledged to return the
money he had taken unlawfully, recompense for the wrong he had
done, and reestablish his life on an honest foundation.
The Bible says:

I’ve touched on this subject
before, but it never hurts to revisit important topics, and with the
warm weather we are experiencing
right now, motorcycles are back out in force on the roadways. I’m
going to talk about some more ways to share the road and make
things safe from both the motorcyclist’s point of view as well as the
more common four wheeled motorists!
First, for those of you who are out riding your motorcycles,
always watch the other person, and assume they are not watching
you! Leave yourself an out and be prepared for any situation. Make
yourself seen! Try to make eye contact with other drivers, and use
your turn signals every time you change lanes or turn. “Cover”
your brakes! This does not mean to ride your brakes, just have
your hand or foot on them in case you need them. Make this a
habit and you will greatly increase your chances of getting out of a
bad situation. The acceleration capabilities of a motorcycle allow
them to gain speed much quicker than cars. Just remember that
this acceleration can carry you into a dangerous situation quicker
as well. At 60 miles per hour, you are covering over 80 feet of
roadway per second. Concentrate on the road in front of you and
avoid daydreaming. Road debris are not your friend and can get you
in trouble quickly!
Wear protective clothing! Use gloves, long sleeve shirts and
pants, and always wear boots! Skin and asphalt do not go well
together! Wear your helmet, it’s a choice in Oklahoma, but look
at the choice professional riders make...they wear them every
time! There are a lot of options out there as far as leathers,
reinforced jackets, etc. that are out there that will protect you in
case of an accident. Last, obey all laws of the state, and look into
taking a safety course designed for motorcycles. These are relatively
inexpensive and can enhance your operator skills a great deal. You
will be amazed at what you learn and you will be eager to pass this
information on to fellow riders.
Now for the four or more wheeled motorists. Be a defensive
driver. Check mirrors and blind spots before entering or leaving a
lane of traffic and at intersections. Signal your intentions before
changing lanes or merging with traffic. Allow 3 to 4 seconds when
following a motorcycle so they have time to maneuver. Road
conditions which are minor annoyances to vehicles pose major
hazards to motorcycles! Make eye contact with motorcyclists, it lets
them know you see them! Finally allow the motorcyclist a full lane
width.
Finally, these are only a few tips and suggestions to help keep
everyone safe. Most of this information comes from brochures from
the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, which is a great resource for
educational materials and information. Thanks for reading, buckle
up, and be safe!

A Mesquite, Texas, man was arrested in Hugo after an Oklahoma
Highway Patrol trooper found counterfeit prescription in the man’s
vehicle.
According to the affidavit, the trooper pulled over a vehicle traveling 92 mph in a 65 mph zone. He asked the driver, 35-year-old
Edward Shamane Williams, to step out of the vehicle.
The trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana on Williams and
asked him if he had a driver’s license. Another trooper arrived to
assist on the stop.
The other trooper made contact with the passenger, Samuel Deyoun Wade, 38, of Dallas, and also noticed the smell of marijuana.
The troopers asked if there was any marijuana in the vehicle and
Wade told them no, but that they could look if they wanted to.
Inside the truck, the troopers found a black ashtray containing a
seed and a green, leafy substance inside. The green, leafy substance
field-tested positive for marijuana.
They also found eight prescriptions that were written out on a
medical pad. Each prescription had a different name and each had
their own ID card to go with the prescriptions.
Both men were placed under arrest for marijuana. Williams was
also placed under arrest for not having a valid driver’s license.
The men were transported to the Choctaw County Jail.
At the jail, a trooper called the phone numbers on the prescriptions and was directed to a voicemail on someone’s personal cellphone. Williams said that he received the prescriptions from a doctor’s office in Dallas and
that the doctor’s wife transfers the office phone to her personal call.
After talking with the Dallas Police Department, troopers were informed that there was no
doctor’s office at the address on the prescription pad.
Wade is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances and his bond
was set at $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26, 2013.
Williams is being charged with unlawful creation/deliverance/possession of prescription
forms, possession of controlled dangerous substances, speeding 92 mph in 65 mph zone and
driving without a valid driver’s license. His original bond was set at $10,000, but he failed to
make his first court appearance. A warrant for his arrest was issued and his bond was set at
$20,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 27, 2013.
