PEEVy
A Wright City man allegedly attacked his cousin
with a machete on June 21.
It seems as though 42-year-old Allen Dale Peevy
became angry when the victim told him to leave his
house.
According to the affidavit, McCurtain County deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block
of Bunn Lane shortly after 3 p.m. The victim was
bleeding from a cut on his head. He told officers that
Peevy hit him with a machete.
A deputy found the suspect riding a bike down the
road. When he stopped the man, he noticed Peevy
smelled strongly like alcohol. He had a deep gash on his head -- he told the
officer that the victim attacked him with a machete. Peevy said he was trying
to defend himself from the victim and at one point, he hit the victim in the head
with a machete.
The victim told police he asked Peevy to leave his residence earlier that day.
This pissed Peevy off, and he allegedly grabbed a baseball bat and threatened to kill the victim and his dogs. During the altercation, Peevy tried to stab
the victim with a pocketknife. The victim said he grabbed a machete and told
Peevy that he wasn’t going to let him kill him or his dogs.
Peevy grabbed the man and placed him in a chokehold, almost making
the victim pass out. The two men kept struggling back and forth with the
machete. The victim said Peevy hit him in the head twice with the weapon.
He said he couldn’t breathe or talk. He was scared Peevy was going to choke
him to death, so he grabbed the machete and hit Peevy in the head with it. He
bit the man’s arm to make him loosen his grip.
A witness told police the same account of events as the victim told them.
Later that day, an officer went to the hospital and placed Peevy under arrest.
When they arrived at the jail, he pulled a small glass bottle out of his pocket
that contained a white residue. The substance tested positive for meth.
Peevy is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and threaten to perform act of violence. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on August 4, 2016.

State Park is home

trout fisheries in the
Southeastern United
States. It is also one of
the busiest state parks
in the state. Park
Rangers and Game
Wardens work side
by side enforcing bag
limits, license requirements, and park rules.
Saturday, July 9, was no different. Park Ranger Gary Hawkins was making a round near Spillway Creek when he noticed a trio of anglers "acting
suspicious". He observed them with several trout already in their possession.
Hawkins knew the daily limit is 6 per person and that these anglers looked as
they were already over the limit.
Hawkins alerted Oklahoma Game Warden Jim Gillham and Warden Supervisor Lieutenant Joe Young, who were working in the park Saturday. The
wardens watched the anglers and decided that a more thorough investigation was required. Gillham discovered the first subject he encountered, was
over limit by 22 rainbow trout.
After speaking to the three Texas anglers, the wardens determined that the
trio were in possession of 50 trout. The legal daily limit for the three anglers
was 18. The subjects were cited for exceeding the daily limit of rainbow trout,
and exceeding the two day possession limit of rainbow trout. The three subjects elected to plead guilty in the field and paid administrative fines of $700.

For a trio of drug thieves, it was their lucky day. They broke into a home in
Silver Springs, Florida, and discovered three jars of cocaine. They took it home
and snorted the contents. That’s when they discovered that the jars were in
fact urns, and that they were snorting the cremains of the victim’s husband
and two dogs.
When an attempted robbery at a Lowes Home Improvement store went
awry, Milton J. Hodges fled across the street and jumped a fence … right into
the Cypress Cove Nudist Resort & Spa. As the Orlando Sentinel pointed out,
“As one of the only folks wearing clothing,” Hodges was easily spotted by
police.
It’s the worst possible time to faint—in the middle of robbing a bank. But
that’s what happened to a Beavercreek, Ohio, thief. The teller called 911 and
asked for medics. But you have to applaud the man’s stick-to-it-iveness. While
the ambulance was en route, the suspect handed a note to the teller demanding all her cash.

Atoka woman Malissa Marie Suchan, 27,
allegedly started a fight, trashed a motel
door, and assaulted an officer on July 1.
She did all this while reportedly under the
influence of drugs.
According to the police report, Atoka police were dispatched to the motel in the 300
block of W. Sixth Street to investigate a fight
in progress. When they arrived, the motel
manager told them a woman started arguing with a man, and the altercation became
physical.
The officers searched the motel for the
suspect. One officer found a trio standing
outside.
While speaking to them about the incident, he saw Suchan run outside
the building. He told her to stop, but she just kept running.
The officer caught up to her and tried to put her in handcuffs. She struggled and resisted and told the officer, “I’ll kick your ass!”
The officer was eventually able to detain the woman. In response, she
started kicking his legs.
The officer tried to escort the woman to his patrol car, but she kept pulling
away and throwing herself to the ground.
Due to the woman’s behavior, he believed that she was under the influence of some kind of drug. He told her to calm down and stop resisting,
but things only became worse. She tried to bite the officer’s finger, but when
that didn’t work, she grabbed his penis and testicles and tried to pull.
The officer was able to get out of the woman’s grip. When he told her not
to do that again, she replied, “F--- you!”
Another officer assisted, and the men were able to put the woman in the
backseat of the car. She continued to resist and yell obscenities when they
arrived at the jail.
After the woman was placed in a cell, an officer went back to the hotel
and spoke with the manager again. The manager showed him some damage Suchan allegedly caused. He estimated that she did approximately
$250 in damage to a door during the altercation.
Suchan is being charged with assault and battery on police officer, public
intoxication, malicious injury to property under $1,000 and obstructing officer. Her bond was set at $25,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court
on July 13, 2016.
Go down fighting

An Antlers man was locked up in the Pushmataha County Jail after he allegedly collided with
another vehicle, then tried to fight an officer.
On June 17, a state trooper was dispatched
to a county road west of Antlers to investigate a
2-car collision with no injuries. When he arrived, a
deputy was already on scene. He told the trooper
one of the drivers appeared to be intoxicated.
The trooper made contact with the man, who
was identified as 43-year-old Kurtis W. Huffman.
He found the man slumped over in his vehicle --
he smelled strongly like alcohol.
Huffman told the trooper in slurred speech that
he didn’t know where he was and he wasn’t sure
what had happened. When the trooper asked the man how many alcoholic
beverages he consumed, he was unable to give the trooper a number and
just said “several.”
Huffman wasn’t able to stand up without falling over, so the trooper left him
in his car with the deputy watching over him so he could gather information
about the incident. While he was in his patrol car, a person on scene advised
him of a situation with the drunk man. Huffman had reportedly exited his
vehicle and started peeing on the ground in front of a group of bystanders.
When the deputy tried to control him, Huffman became combative and
fought back. The officers placed the man in handcuffs.
Due to Huffman’s level of intoxication and his fight with the deputy, the
trooper didn’t issue standard field sobriety tests. Instead, he asked the man
to submit a breath sample. Huffman agreed, and he blew a 0.22 BAC, nearly
three times the legal limit.
The trooper placed him under arrest and transported him to jail.

Mansel
Atoka man Clinton Dean Mansel, 31, was
arrested in Coal County for allegedly stealing
a Polaris SideXSide from a Stringtown residence on June 17.
According to the police report, a Coal
County deputy was advised shortly after 7
a.m. on June 18 that the stolen vehicle was
parked behind a house in Lehigh. He spoke to
the homeowner and asked if he could look at
it. The homeowner agreed and told the deputy he had no idea that it was stolen. He said
Mansell had left it there.
The deputy contacted the owner of the stolen vehicle. He told the deputy that the description of the vehicle parked at the house
matched the one what was stolen from him.
The deputy went back to the residence where the vehicle was. The
homeowner told him that Mansell came to his house on June 16 and
asked if he could park it there. When the man told him yes, Mansell
brought the vehicle over the next day.
The deputy also spoke to a woman who said she and Mansell were
staying at a house in Stringtown. On the morning of June 17, he disappeared from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. When he returned, he told her he stole the
vehicle from a nearby residence.
The deputy tracked down the suspect and asked for his side of the
story. He admitted to stealing the vehicle and driving it to his friend’s
house.
Mansell added, “I done it. That’s everything you need to know.”
Mansell is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property.
His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
July 14, 2016.
Side by side
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep someone out of our
publication. The short answer to that question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never
accepted money or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the
jail told them all they have to do is pay us money and we will not publish their
photo. This is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such, should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our
paper, it is only because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we could
match up.
Thank you and God Bless

The victim’s jewelry was missing, the electronics were gone, and a window
was smashed. No wonder she was hysterical when officer Charanjit Meharu of
the Calgary police arrived. Then her French-speaking father called. Speaking
in French, she explained that it was all a scam in order to get the insurance
money. What she didn’t suspect was that Officer Meharu speaks six languages, including French.
A 12-year-old boy adamantly denied having stolen an iPhone when questioned by police at his home. And then the iPhone rang in his closet. Okay, yes,
he stole that. But as for the Blackberry he was also accused of stealing, he
double-adamantly denied… *RING!!*
Don’t you hate it when you suffer a heart attack and think you’re going to die,
so you confess to a 17-year-old murder, only to find out you’re not going to
die and then get sentenced to life in prison as a result? Yeah, so does James
Washington, of Nashville, because it happened to him.
Following a dispute, Craig Aylesworth, of Bithlo, Florida, allegedly tossed a
Molotov Cocktail at his neighbor’s trailer home … just as the winds shifted,
sending embers on to his own trailer. Luckily, he was arrested, since he no
longer had a home of his own to return to.
A San Francisco thief pedaled his bike up to a woman on the sidewalk,
snatched the iPhone out of her hands, and rode away. Unknown to him, the
woman was in the middle of demonstrating the iPhone’s new GPS tracking
device, which worked—the thief was captured minutes later.
Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni was impersonating a police officer when
he pulled over another car for speeding. The driver quickly sussed out that
Mastrogiovanni was fibbing since he, too, was a cop, but in his case, the kind
of cop who doesn’t have to pretend he’s a cop because he really is a cop.
Mastrogiovanni was arrested for impersonating a police officer.
How convenient! Only a few months earlier, an Iowa City, Iowa, man had his
driver’s license stolen. Then who should show up at the bar where he worked
as a bouncer, but the thief brandishing the bouncer’s very own license as his
form of ID.
Is there no honor among thieves? While two suspects were being questioned by Ogden, Utah, police about shoplifting from a store, someone broke
into their car and stole a stereo and several other items.
An El Paso, Texas, man busted into a church and absconded with the safe.
Safes are heavy, so he only got a few yards before dropping it on a neighbor’s
lawn, where he tried to crack it open. That’s when he was confronted by the
home’s occupant—a police officer.

Hugo man Michael Daniel Mixon, 34, allegedly
tried to run over a man at a Soper convenience
store on June 19.
He told a deputy he didn’t leave his house that
day.
According to the affidavit, a Choctaw County
deputy was dispatched to the 400 block of Paris
Avenue at noon to meet with the victim. The victim said the night before, Mixon tried to hit his
vehicle head on with his truck. He said he reported it the the sheriff’s office.
Mixon didn’t succeed then, but that didn’t
stop him from trying again.
The victim said he was at a store located in the 300 block of Williams
earlier that day. He was in the parking lot when Mixon’s truck pulled in
and roared toward him again. The victim jumped out of the way, but
he told the deputy he would have been hit if he hadn’t moved.
The deputy went to the store and asked an employee if the store
had video surveillance. She told him yes, but the owner would have
to get it for him.
The clerk then asked him if he was investigating the incident that
happened earlier. He said yes. She told him that she saw the victim
walking in the parking lot. All of a sudden, a black truck pulled into the
lot and tried to hit the victim. She said the victim was able to get out
of the way, but the vehicle moved toward him again.
The deputy went to the suspect’s residence at the corner of A Avenue and Main. He found the man walking from the back of the residence. Mixon appeared “agitated” when he saw the deputy.
The deputy told him to place his hands behind his back because he
was under arrest. Mixon said, “I was home all day. Check my truck.”
He then asked his girlfriend to remove the ignition interlock device
from his truck and take it to the sheriff’s officer.
Mixon is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. His
bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
July 26, 2016.
