Woman arrested after threatening
to kill ex-husband at work
A 45-year-old Valliant woman was put behind bars after she allegedly showed up at
her ex-husband’s work with a fully loaded
handgun, violating a protective order, on October 29.
According to the affidavit, a concerned
friend contacted the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Department after Kelly Gale Compton told
him that she intended to kill her ex-husband
and then herself.
A deputy tried to contact the woman, but
she didn’t answer her phone. The deputy
then drove to International Paper, where
Compton’s ex-husband is an employee. He
found the woman in the parking lot. She was
parked straight across from her ex’s vehicle. She had a fully loaded handgun
in her possession.
The victim was already off work, but he was stopped by a security guard
as he was walking to his vehicle. The security guard, recognizing Compton
as the man’s ex-wife, asked the employee to wait in the guard shack for his
safety.
Compton was placed under arrest and transported to jail. She denied trying
to hurt herself or her ex-husband.
According to police, the man and his current wife had recently won a custody battle involving his and his ex’s children.
Compton is being charged with a protective order violation. Her bond was
set at $2,500, and she is scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2019.

Nicholson found guilty
In October of 2017, the McCurtain County
Sheriff’s Office was made aware of allegations
against Bryan Nicholson for criminal sexual
assault on several victims. The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division
(CID) Crimes Against Persons Section of the
sheriff’s office. Sheriff Investigators obtained
probable cause for the execution of a search
warrant for evidence. During the evidence
collection significant evidence was gathered
to support the allegations.
In addition to interviews conducted by
Sheriff’s Investigators and Forensic Sexual
Assault personnel, a case was submitted to
DA Mark Matloff’s office where Nicholson was
charged with Child Sexual Abuse (AFC), Lewd or Indecent Acts to a Child
Under 16, and Possession of Child Pornography.
The sheriff’s office continued to investigate and collect evidence in support
of the criminal prosecution. On October 18, Nicholson was convicted of the
above stated charges and the jury recommended a sentence of Two Life
sentences plus 40 years.
“Today is a victory for the Nicholson victims. My office will aggressively investigate all allegations of sexual assault”, said Sheriff Kevin Clardy.
“I would like to commend Sheriff’s Investigator Larry Hendrix, Sheriff’s Investigator Alicia Manning and the staff inside DA Matloff’s office for the tremendous effort put forth on this case”, said Sheriff Clardy.

Driver of SUV with 11 Illegal Immigrants Pleads
Guilty to Federal Charge
A Mexican citizen pleaded guilty November 6
to unlawfully driving himself and 10 other illegal
aliens from Arizona to Kansas, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.
Alex They Maya-Dimas, 37, a citizen of Mexico,
pleaded guilty to one count of transporting illegal aliens. In his plea, he admitted he was driving
a 2002 GMC Yukon when a Ford County deputy
stopped him. Maya-Dimas and 10 other occupants of the vehicle were Mexican citizens who
were in the United States illegally. The passengers
told investigators Maya-Dimas drove them from Arizona to Kansas City
through Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 24. He faces up to five years in federal prison
and a fine up to $250,000. McAllister commended the Ford County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations and Assistant U.S. Attorney
David Lind for their work on the case.

DECEMBER IS NATIONAL DRUNK AND
DRUGGED DRIVING PREVENTION MONTH
Deaths in crashes involving
drunk drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08+
dropped in 2010, but despite
this decrease, there were still
10,228 lives lost – that’s one
person every 51 minutes. That
makes it everyone’s problem.
It seems that many people
were doing their part to put a stop to this completely preventable epidemic.
Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s. Research
also indicates that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends
Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened to stop
someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90’s, alcohol-related driving deaths have been
steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many
thought the messages to be targeted at overtly drunk drivers, and not them.
When decision time came, they would consider themselves merely “buzzed”
and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December
2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the dangers of
“buzzed” driving and subsequently, to motivate people to stop driving buzzed.
The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed driving and
drunk driving and demonstrating the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of buzzed driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate
people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed
Driving is Drunk Driving.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Durant Man Sentenced To 120 Months
For Possession Of Firearm, Amm unition
Derik Wayne Frazier, 35, of Durant, was
sentenced to 120 months imprisonment and
3 years supervised release for Felon In Possession Of Firearm & Ammunition. The charges arose from an investigation by the Durant
Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Indictment alleged that on or about
November 24, 2017, Frazier, having been
convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year knowingly possessed in and affecting commerce
a firearm and ammunition which have been
shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce.
United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester said, “Enforcing federal firearms
statutes against defendants that have proven themselves to be violent is an
effective tool this office utilizes to help district attorneys and their state and
local law enforcement partners make their communities safer. This case is a
great example of how collaboration between agencies from different jurisdictions results in a community that is safer.”
The Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided
over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Harrington represented the United States. Frazier will remain in custody pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which the non-paroleable sentence
will be served.

family feud
Two shootings and intentionally ramming
into a police car landed William Wisener in jail
on November 10.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the shootings, but officers still aren’t sure why the
23-year-old Hugo man targeted his own family members.
According to reports, a man contacted
the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office and said
someone shot at him while he was standing
at his front door. A deputy went to the residence to get more information.
During the investigation, he found that
someone had shot into the home from the
road, barely missing a couple and their sleeping child. The homeowner wasn’t sure who
shot at him, but he was able to give the deputy a description of the suspect’s vehicle.
Hugo officers located the vehicle and tried to stop Wisener. The man sped
off, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph during the pursuit, which police
say lasted more than 15 minutes.
During the chase, Wisener pulled into the front yard of a house. As officers
approached him, the man turned his attention toward a deputy. He allegedly
accelerated toward the deputy in an attempt to run him over. Thankfully, he
rammed into a patrol vehicle instead.
Wisener then drove off, striking another patrol car that was being driven by
a Hugo detective. The suspect was placed under arrest.
Officers learned that the man was related to the people he had shot at.
The next day, they were informed by another family member that Wisener
had also fired into his home from the road. A bullet went through the window
and into the victim’s room, passing through his pillow. The man wasn’t lying
down at the time of the shooting.
Wisener is currently being held at the Choctaw County Jail without bond.

Police out helping keep the streets clean arrested a man suspected of
stealing a street sweeper.
According to Sacramento Police, officers out on patrol near Truxel
Road and Brewerton Drive saw a street sweeper truck peel out of a
parking lot and onto the street.
The truck promptly ran a red light – and didn’t have its headlights on –
prompting the officers to try and pull the street sweeper over. However,
police note, the driver pushed on and didn’t stop until he had hit three
parked cars. The driver then bolted from the truck.
A police perimeter was set up in the area, but the suspected driver –
18-year-old Lavonn Dill – eventually surrendered himself to a K-9 officer.
Dill now faces charges of fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and
hit-and-run charges.
A Florida man who was doing a mean-spirited Santa Claus impression
might be spending Christmas behind bars after getting caught in the
chimney of a Naples, Fla., home during an attempted burglary.
Richard Tyler Brandon, 25, got trapped in a chimney after running out
of cash during a night out. His friend, Derek Grenfell, alerted two Naples
police officers about the situation after it became apparent Brandon was
stuck.
A team of police officers and local fire department officials broke into
the home and saw Brandon’s foot hanging in the fireplace.
“I said, ‘Dude, you’re not Santa Claus, what are you doing?’” Grenfell
reportedly said to the police.
It took two hours, but Brandon was freed from the chimney and taken to the hospital for treatment of issues including leg pain and trouble
breathing. It could have been worse.
“There is a chance he could have died,” said Naples Detective Robert
Young. “That space he was jammed into was really tight. He couldn’t
move.”
Brandon was hit with two burglary charges and Grenfell was charged
as an accessory to the crime after the fact.
A Vero Beach, Fla., man who was angry with his wife left a phony bomb
on a kitchen counter, an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Randolph Smith, 51, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault
with a deadly weapon, planting a hoax bomb and resisting arrest without
violence.
Deputies received a call from a woman who said her husband left a
gray pipe with a wire protruding from one end on the kitchen counter.
There were several hand-written notes on the counter, including one that
read, “This is (an) explosive. (It’s) a bomb.”
Smith’s wife told deputies she is in the process of getting a divorce.
The bomb squad was called and determined that the device didn’t
contain any explosives.
Deputies tracked Smith down at a Burger King and arrested him.
During questioning, Smith tried to leave the interview room and had to
be handcuffed, according to the arrest report.
Smith told detectives that he left the hoax bomb on the counter because his wife “pissed him off.”
