The Idabel Police Department and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) requested the Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation (OSBI) assist with a homicide investigation
that occurred around 4:30 a.m. on December 31, 2022. A
fight between two teenagers in a group of teenagers took
place at 2501 Southeast Washington Street in Idabel. One
of the teens involved in the altercation was reported to
have retrieved a long gun and fired off shots into the air. A
group of teenagers then got into a truck and as they were leaving, the juvenile
with the long gun fired into the truck striking three teens.
One teenager was killed. A second teenager was hit and is being treated
at a Tyler, TX, hospital; that teen has since died. A third teenager had a graze
wound.
The suspect is in custody. Due to the fact all involved are minors, no names
are being released at this time.
The investigation involves Native Americans and falls under the McGirt Supreme Court decision. The OSBI is working together with the FBI, Idabel Police
Department and the Choctaw Nation. Once the investigation is complete, a report will be forwarded to the appropriate prosecuting attorney to file charges.
There is no additional information to release at this time.

“‘Girls Gone Wild’ hot tub party”
Patrol officer Maegan Hall, who is married, was
fired last month for engaging ‘in a sexual relationship’ with multiple men on the La Vergne police force
Four police officers from the Nashville suburb of
La Vergne were fired for allegedly having sex on duty
with a female cop, who was also fired and accused
of taking off her top at what the local mayor called a
‘Girls Gone Wild’ hot tub party.
Patrol officer Maegan Hall of La Vergne Police Department is at the forefront of the investigation after
it was revealed in December that she ‘engaged in a
sexual relationship’ with at least four male officers.
Fellow patrol officers Juan Lugo-Perez, Lewis Powell, detective Seneca
Shields and Sgt. Henry Ty McGowan admitted to the accusations, according
to the report, with Shields claiming he had oral sex with Hall in the department’s gym while on duty.
It’s unclear if any of the officers will appeal.

6 | FEBRUARY 2023 PUSHMATAHA COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
A 23-year-old inmate at the Pushmataha County Jail is facing more charges after he allegedly
sprayed bleach on a jailer in December.
According to reports, Connor Dax Willis was
cleaning and sanitizing a jail cell when the attack
occurred. While he was cleaning the jail cell, he
allegedly took the bottle of bleach and sprayed a
jailer in the face.
Fortunately, the jailer is okay.
Willis, however, is facing more charges. He was
already being held on at least 10 other charges,
including firearms violations, concealing stolen
property, drug possession, and burglary.
Willis is being charged with a biochemical assault act after the former conviction of a felony and assault and battery
on a corrections officer. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 8,
2023.

PICK YOUR POISON
An inmate at the Bryan County Jail allegedly attacked an officer after he told the officer
his food was being poisoned.
The officer simply asked the man if he had
been seen by the medical staff.
On January 4, a deputy was dispatched to
the jail at approximately 11:25 p.m. to investigate an assault. When he arrived, he saw an
inmate, 30-year-old Michael David Kernodle,
talking to some officers.
According to the police report, he told the
officers that he believed his food was being
poisoned. When one of the officers asked the
man if he had been seen by medical staff,
Kernodle became aggressive and charged
toward the officer.
An officer grabbed Kernodle around the upper torso in an attempt to put
him on the floor so he could be handcuffed, but Kernodle resisted, and both
of the men fell to the floor.
Kernodle hit the officer with his fist under the officer’s left eye.
The men continued to struggle.
Officers eventually subdued the man and placed him in handcuffs.
According to court records, Kernodle was already behind bars for battery/
assault and battery on a police officer, obstructing an officer, and disturbing
the peace.
Kernodle is being charged with assault and battery on a corrections officer.
His bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
February 23, 2023.

A 41-year-old Hugo man is behind bars after he
allegedly beat a woman so badly that she ended
up in the hospital.
According to reports, Delbert O’Neal Coffelt
beat the victim on December 28 in a shed on the
corner of Bois D’Arc and Dodd Street in Grant. He
kicked her, punched her, and used a blunt object
to assault the woman.
He beat her so badly that she was care-flighted
to a trauma center to be treated for her injuries.
Investigators say the woman had injuries on her
legs, arms, back, face, and head. She also had
bite marks on her body. She also suffered a collapsed lung when Coffelt allegedly beat her.
Coffelt is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon, aggravated assault and battery, and domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on January 31, 2023.

AROUND THE STATE
ROBBERY ARREST -- Suspect bites clerk,
steals cigarettes, then tries to outrun Officers
on a bicycle.
On Jan. 9, around 1:55 a.m., Officers responded to a larceny in progress at a convenience store near 71st and Riverside.
The caller said a man, later identified as
Jeremiah Wooten, was behind the counter
stealing cigarettes and assaulting a clerk.
Video of the incident showed Jeremiah
Wooten walk behind the counter and grab
multiple packs of cigarettes attempting to
steal them.
The clerk tried to stop Wooten, and the two
got into a fight where Wooten struck the clerk
multiple times and bit him in the chest. Eventually, Wooten got away and left
with a tote bag filled with stolen cigarettes.
Officers swarmed the area and found Wooten riding a bicycle near 6800 S.
Rockford. When Officers tried to stop Wooten, he began to pedal faster and
started weaving between the patrol cars.
Eventually, Wooten turned down a dead end street and ran on foot. He
climbed a fence and ran into a backyard where he was taken into custody.
The tote bag with 15 packs of cigarettes was recovered and returned to
the store.
The clerk had multiple injuries, including a possible broken nose.
Jeremiah Wooten was arrested for:
- Robbery by Force or Fear
- Obstructing a Police Officer
