let it go
A Haworth woman allegedly stabbed her exboyfriend on November 28 because she didn’t
want him to be with any one else.
Sounds like she’s definitely an ex for a reason!
According to the police report, Haworth officers arrested 25-year-old Havana Shayn Kegley shortly after the incident and put her in jail.
A McCurtain County deputy was advised of the
stabbing around 5:29 p.m. He tried to speak to
Kegley about the incident, but she refused and
told him she wanted a lawyer.
The deputy then went to the hospital and
spoke with the victim. The victim said he dated Kegley for about 5 years,
and they had been broken up for 3 months. He said he left her because
they had an abusive relationship. Since then, Kegley had been stalking him
and trying to get back together with him. He said she told him that if she
couldn’t be with him, no one else could. He initially thought she was joking,
but now he wasn’t so sure.
Earlier that day, he saw the woman run away from his current girlfriend’s
house. He found a note on the air conditioner, but he tore it up and threw
it away. He and his girlfriend went to see his son at school. They ran into
Kegley, who told them she had burned down the girlfriend’s house.
Kegley then hit the man, and he pushed her away. He then noticed that
she was holding a knife in her hand. She told him, “I got you and it ain’t
over, ‘cause I’m a keep doin’ it.”
The man had puncture wounds on his left forearm and upper arm.
His girlfriend and another man told the officer they witnessed the assault, but they didn’t see the knife.
Officers located the knife sheath in the 300 block of Styles Street. Kegley’s aunt said she drove Kegley around after the incident, and Kegley had
thrown the knife from the vehicle.
Officers were unable to immediately located the knife.
Kegley is being charged with assault and/or battery with a dangerous
weapon. Her bond was set at $75,000, and she is scheduled to appear in
court on December 21, 2017.

jailer charged with rape
after having sex with inmate
Antlers man Timothy Richard Eugene
Byers, 22, is facing charges of rape after he
was caught in a compromising position with
a female inmate on November 14.
According to reports, Byers, a former Marine, had recently been hired as a jailer at the
Pushmataha County Jail after completing
month-long training for the job. When the alleged event happened, he was scheduled to
work a shift by himself.
The morning of the incident, the sheriff
was advised that Byers had been caught in a
compromising position with a female inmate.
He said the jailer had been caught performing a sexual act with the inmate in the wash
room.
After reviewing the allegations, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation
was contacted and brought in to review the incident. They spoke to the victim
and some of the other inmates about what had happened.
Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage from the jail, according to
reports.
The sheriff later apologized for the incident on his Facebook page, stating
that he takes “one hundred percent responsibility” for his employees’ actions.
He assured his constituents that “actions such as this will not be tolerated
during this administration” and “all inappropriate actions will be handled to the
full extent of the law every time.”
Byers was immediately terminated from his job and was arrested for his
actions on November 15.
He is being charged with second-degree rape. His bond was set at $50,000,
and he was scheduled to appear in court on December 13, 2017.

WHAT IS SUBSTANCE
ABUSE TREATMENT LIKE?
Everyone entering treatment
for a substance use disorder is
unique. That is why the patient
and the treatment staff work
together to develop an individualized treatment plan. It may
include some type of behavioral treatment (“talk therapy”)
designed to engage the patient in the treatment process, alter destructive
attitudes and behaviors related to drug use, and increase healthy life skills.
Behavioral treatment can also enhance the effectiveness of medications that
might be available and help patients stay in treatment longer.
Treatment for substance use disorders can be delivered in many different
settings using a variety of different approaches. The following treatments are
a few of many:
• detoxification (the process by which the body rids itself of a drug)
• behavioral counseling
• medication (for opioid, tobacco, or alcohol addiction)
• evaluation and treatment for co-occurring mental health issues such as
depression and anxiety
• long-term follow-up to prevent relapse
A range of care with a tailored treatment program and follow-up options
can be crucial to success. Treatment should include both medical and mental
health services as needed. Follow-up care may include community- or family-based recovery support systems.

An Atoka man was taken into custody after he
allegedly shot and killed his father.
Wyatt Arp, 20, was charged December 5 with
murder in the first degree- deliberate intent, and
burglary in the first degree, in Atoka County District Court.
According to OSBI, on November 30, the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI assistance with a shooting death at 522 S. Bentley
Road, Atoka. When OSBI special agents arrived
at the scene, Douglas Arp, 55, had died from his
injuries. His son, Wyatt Arp, admitted to investigators he had dropped the gun, causing the weapon
to fire a round, striking his father.
On December 4, an OSBI special agent tracked down Wyatt outside an
Atoka County hospital. There, the agent questioned Wyatt more about the
shooting. After the interview, the agent arrested Wyatt on a complaint of
murder in the first degree. Wyatt was booked into the Atoka County jail
and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Booze, guns and drugs
Convicted felon Carlton Ashley Deloney,
36, was arrested on November 26 after police discovered he had warrants for his arrest
in multiple counties.
The Davis man was also transporting alcohol, guns and drugs in his vehicle.
According to the police report, a Coalgate
officer stopped Deloney at the intersection of
Queen and Newell around 1:36 a.m. because
the man’s vehicle had no working tag lights.
The officer checked the man’s information
and was advised the man had warrants out of Beckham, Pittsburg and Payne
counties. He told the man he was under arrest for the warrants and asked if
there was anything illegal in the vehicle.
Deloney said he had a pistol and rifle behind the seat.
The officer placed the man in handcuffs conducted an inventory of the vehicle. He located the rifle and loaded pistol. He checked the serial numbers on
the firearms and was advised the pistol had been reported stolen from Tuttle.
The officer also found an open bottle of liquor, a pill bottle containing Tramadol and a bag containing marijuana and marijuana seeds.
When they arrived at the jail, the officer ran a criminal history record check
on the man. Deloney was also a convicted felon.
Deloney is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled substance, transporting loaded firearm in motor vehicle, transporting open bottle
or container of liquor, knowingly concealing stolen property and possession
of firearm in commission of felony. His bond was set at $18,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on January 18, 2017.
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Falling on deaf ears
Durant man John Diaz Carrey, 72, is having
his bond revoked for contacting nurses after he
was ordered not to because he allegedly assaulted one on November 20.
According to the affidavit, a Durant officer
was dispatched to a hospital in the 1800 block
of University shortly after midnight due to an
unwanted guest. When he arrived, he spoke
to hospital security, who advised him that Carrey was yelling at nurses in the ICU. The security officer said he tried to get the man to calm
down, but Carrey refused. He even slammed a
door on one of the nurses.
The security officer said he took the man to the ground. Carrey then
complained about his back hurting, so he was taken to the emergency
room. The officer spoke with the nurse, who said Carrey yelled and cursed
at the nurses. She called security, but the man kept on being rude to hospital staff. She told the officer Carrey demanded that she go to his wife’s
room to answer his questions.
At one point, the woman said Carrey slammed her arm in the doorway.
She advised she wanted to press charges. The nurse said she felt like
Carrey was intentionally trying to hurt her and lock her in the room when
he slammed the door. She said she felt uncomfortable around the man.
Another nurse on duty told the deputy the same story.
The officer spoke with a nurse in the emergency room, who said he tried
to treat Carrey, but the man started yelling and cussing at him.
When the officer asked Carrey to calm down so hospital staff could
make sure he was OK, Carrey replied that he didn’t want any doctors
around him. He finally calmed down, and a doctor evaluated his x-ray.
When the doctor said he was good to go, the officer advised Carrey he
was under arrest. Carrey yelled, “Take me to f------ jail!”
Carrey is being charged with assault and battery upon a care provider.
His bond was set at $15,000, but it is now being revoked because he was
ordered not to contact the victims again, and he called the hospital on
November 21. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 19, 2017.

DEPUTIES SIT DOWN FOR LUNCH, FIND
FUGITIVE EATING NEXT TO THEM
AROUND THE NATION
While deputies with the Perry County (Tennessee) Sheriff’s Office were out to lunch,
they noticed something that turned a lunch
break into deputies making an arrest.
“We finally slowed down enough to eat
lunch, me and several other of the guys. And
while we were eating, we noticed a known
fugitive that we’ve actually been looking for,”
said Tony Eversole, the Perry County Sherriff’s Office chief deputy.
Eversole said Neil Martin was eating lunch
at the Captain D’s in Hazard, Kentucky right
across from him. He said that Martin is wanted in multiple states for fraudulent business
reasons.
“We had been actively looking for him for several months,” said Eversole.
“He’s wanted by four or five states.”
Eversole said that they did not know how Martin would react, so they let
him finish his meal and waited for him to leave the building.
“We let him eat so we wouldn’t cause any trouble inside the restaurant, and
then we got up as he left and followed him outside and made the arrest in the
parking lot,” said Eversole.
Deputies say that although it was a serious situation, they made a little light
of it after the arrest.
“We wanted to know if he was going to order his dessert to go,” said Eversole.
Martin is being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Mohammad Ashan, believed to be a low-level member of the Taliban, turned himself
in in order to collect the reward for his own capture. The reward was apparently about
$100.
Michael Fuller went to Walmart and tried to buy a vacuum, a microwave and a few
other items. The cashier knew that Fuller was up to no good when he attempted to
pay for his purchases with a $1 million bill.
Lukasz Chojnowski reportedly broke into an elderly couple’s home while they were
away on vacation. When the couple returned home, they found Lukasz sleeping in
their bed, earning him the nickname “Goldilocks” in the press. Reportedly, Lukasz did
such a good job of tidying up the house and reorganizing it that the couple offered to
hire him as their butler.
Logan James decided to play a game of cat and mouse with the local police department, posting “catch me if you can” on the department’s Facebook page. Well,
shortly after James posted his poorly thought out comment, the police did just that;
they caught him and booked him.
Klaus Schmidt tried to rob a bank. Unfortunately, Klaus is deaf and couldn’t hear the
alarm blaring as he attempted to clean out the place. He didn’t hear the police coming,
and the whole thing was an epic fail.
John Pearce was attempting to burglarize a home when he got his foot caught
in a bay window. He was left dangling there for about 30 minutes before police and
paramedics arrived.
Tiffany Campbell and John Arwood were apparently on a lot of meth when they
wound up hiding in a janitor’s college at Daytona State College in Florida. Apparently,
Campbell and Arwood thought they were locked in the closet, so they stayed there for
two days before finally calling the police. As it turns out, the closet was unlocked the
entire time. Apparently, meth makes things very confusing.
Joey Miller and Matthew McNeilly reportedly broke into several apartments while in
deep disguise. Evidently, when the police pulled them over, they still had their permanent-marker disguises scribbled on their faces.
Gary Rough held up a bookmaker’s in Scotland with what the clerk believed to be a
firearm. As it turns out, it was a cucumber with a sock on it. Rough earned a 40-month
sentence for his produce-related crime.
A lady in Costa Rica attempted to steal a flat screen TV by putting it up her dress,
between her legs. Apparently, store employees noticed that something about the
woman looked off.
Dorian Walker-Gaines and Dillan Thompson stole an iPad and some other belongings from a man’s truck in Houston. The two then posted some celebratory selfies,
which made it easy for police to apprehend them, thanks to the owner’s iCloud.
Darren Kimpton reportedly attempted to rob a house that was full of police. He had
reportedly just robbed the home, and investigators were still at the premises when
Kimpton decided to strike again.
Andrew Hennells posted on Facebook that he was planning to rob a Tesco store.
A few minutes later, he did exactly that. He certainly made things easier for the police.

The other guy
Hugo man Shermar N. Freeman, 21, allegedly broke into a home and assaulted his
ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend on November
12. He also smashed in a window on the
woman’s car before leaving the property.
According to the affidavit, a Choctaw County deputy was dispatched to a residence in
the 300 block of Pyron Street in Fort Towson
to investigate the incident. A man told him
that Freeman used to date his son’s current
girlfriend. Shortly after midnight on November
12, Freeman and another man kicked in the
front door of the man’s house and attacked
his son. He estimated the damage to the
door was around $1,200.
His son told police Freeman and the other
man knocked on the front door, and Freeman advised he wanted to talk to
him. The victim said he went to put on some clothes so he could go outside
to talk to the man, but Freeman instead kicked open the door, ran into the
victim’s bedroom and slammed him on the floor. The victim’s girlfriend and
Freeman’s accomplice pulled Freeman off the victim.
The victim said he tried to leave the room, but Freeman grabbed him and
hit him again. Freeman then pulled out a revolver and pointed it at the victim
and his girlfriend. Freeman took the woman’s keys and tried to steal her car,
but she was able to get the keys away from him. He did, however, break one
of her vehicle’s windows.
Shermar is being charged with first-degree burglary, feloniously pointing
firearm, assault and battery, and malicious injury to property under $1,000.
His bond was set at $15,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 30, 2018.
