COLEMAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING AND
KILLING AN AUTO MECHANIC
Idabel man Robert Don Coleman, 47, was
arrested after he allegedly fatally stabbed a
man over a $300 auto repair on May 1.
According to the police report, Idabel police officers were dispatched to an auto repair shop in the 1300 block of SW Jackson
to investigate a stabbing. When they arrived,
they found the victim with a stab wound in his
chest. The man was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police that a “white guy”
had pulled up to the shop, jumped out of his
truck and stabbed the victim.
One of the witnesses said he had gone to
school with both the victim and Coleman. He
was out driving around when he stopped by the auto repair shop to talk
with the victim. While he was there, Coleman pulled up to the scene and
approached the victim. The witness said Coleman told the victim he wanted
his $300 back because his truck wasn’t fixed. The witness couldn’t hear everything that was being said, but he heard the victim asked Coleman why he
waited two weeks to say something about the vehicle.
While the two men were speaking, the witness said Coleman pulled out a
knife and started swinging it back and forth at the victim. The victim backed
away from the man and picked up a short pipe to defend himself. Coleman
stabbed the victim, then got in his truck and left the scene.
Coleman is being charged with murder in the first degree. His bond was set
at $1M, and he was scheduled to appear in court on May 14, 2018.

Broken Bow man locked up for
pointing gun at hospital staff
A Broken Bow man is behind bars after he allegedly
pointed a gun at staff at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital on May 6.
The affidavit states McCurtain County deputies were
dispatched to the hospital at approximately 12:43 a.m.
due to a man threatening nurses with a gun. When a
deputy arrived on scene, he was directed to a room
where he found 54-year-old David Allen Gibson lying on
a bed holding what appeared to be a semi-automatic
to his head. A security officer was in the room with the
man.
Gibson told the deputy that he had a headache that
was so bad that he wanted to end his life. The deputy
told him to put the gun down, and he would try to get
him some medication for his head. Gibson refused to
lower the gun or move his finger from the trigger. At one point, Gibson said he had recently been involved in a standoff with Broken Bow police and was just released from
a mental hospital. He said he was tired of living.
The deputy again tried to get the man to put the gun down so he could get some
meds. Gibson replied that he had just taken $100 of meth, and he wasn’t going to
waste the high by taking medication that could make him fall asleep.
Another deputy jumped on the man. Officers wrestled the gun away from Gibson
and put him in handcuffs. The gun was identified as a loaded BB gun.
One of the nurses told a deputy that Gibson was brought to the hospital for low
blood sugar. While she was releasing him, he asked her how fast she could run and
if he had ever been mean to her. He then told her he wasn’t leaving the hospital and
lifted up his shirt to reveal the BB gun tucked into his pants. He then pulled out the
gun, pointed it at the nurse and told her, “I’m going to give you a choice to run now.”
She fled the room and called the police.
A radiology technician went into the room with a security officer and found Gibson
with the gun pointed at his neck. Gibson also allegedly threatened the security officer
and pointed the gun at a doctor.
Gibson is being charged with feloniously pointing firearm. His bond was set at $1M,
and he was scheduled to appear in court on May 15, 2018.

jailer jailed on rape charge
On May 15, the Pushmataha County
Sheriff BJ Hedgecock requested OSBI
investigative assistance due to allegations of a Pushmataha County Correctional Officer having sex with an inmate.
After OSBI investigation, Ashley Elizabeth
Parra, 29, was arrested for 2nd Degree
Rape.
In a Facebook post, Pushmataha
County BJ Sheriff Hedgecock stated:
“Undersheriff Quentin Lee was informed of a female jailer, Ashley Parra,
having intercourse with a male inmate.
After reviewing the jail video, I requested
the OSBI to do an investigation on the incident. After interviews and a confession of the jail inmates, the jailer
was arrested and charged, and transported to another jail. As I have
always said, I am 100% responsible for actions of the employees of
the sheriff’s office, and strive to do a thorough background check on
all employees before hiring. I apologize for the action of this employee
and will alway be transparent on actions of the sheriff’s office. As I have
said, the sheriff’s office belongs to the people of Pushmataha County,
and I assure you, as in the past, the employee will be held accountable
for their actions by the court.”
Parra was charged May 15 in Pushmataha County District Court
with one court of felony rape. Her bond was set at $25,000.

This is a great conversation to have with
your friend’s treatment provider. Different
patients need different levels of support. If
there are difficult dynamics in a family group
or set of friends, the counselor may recommend little contact for a while. It is important
to tell friends struggling with addiction that
you admire their courage for tackling this
medical problem directly through treatment
and that as long as they stick with the treatment plan, you will offer encouragement
and support. When residential treatment is over, your friend will have to re-enter
the community and it will be a difficult time. There will be triggers everywhere that
could promote a relapse—such as driving by places where the person once took
drugs, or seeing friends who provided those drugs. You can encourage your friend
to avoid these triggers, and you can make an effort to ask him or her what those
triggers are. However, people addicted to drugs have to fight much of this struggle
on their own, without the help and advice of friends, using the knowledge and
skills learned in treatment. Offer as much love and support you can as long as your
friend continues to follow the treatment plan. If your he or she relapses, you should
encourage additional treatment.
If my friend does go into treatment,
how can I offer support?

10 | JUNE 2018 ATOKA COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
A man in Minneapolis was caught walking along the intersection of a road…
wearing a pair of high heels. And. Nothing. Else. To sicken your mental picture
even further, he’s 63 years old. He ran through the snow and hopped in his car
when he saw the police following. Luckily, they tracked him down and arrested
him before he showed up on the cover of Vogue.
A man in Houston was caught on camera while trying to cash a stolen check.
His identity is unknown, and is therefore known as the “Have You Seen My
Zombie?” Dude, because of what’s written on his t-shirt. According to witnesses, he also has glasses, and interesting red facial hair. No word yet on where
the zombie is.
A man in Miami, tripping out on bath salts (a new faux-cocaine trend), starting
knocking on neighbors’ doors saying he needed an ambulance. He was frustrated when the police showed up, and caused even more trouble. He scraped
his teeth across the hood of a police car after being handcuffed. It surprisingly
made quite a scratch.
A woman in Indiana came home one night to find a man seated in one of
her chairs. He refused to leave, even after the police were called, apparently
believing that this was his home. He had even done some household chores.
The laundry was folded, floors were vacuumed, and there was some chicken
cooking on the stove. I bet this is one crime most of us wouldn’t mind being
victims of.
A rather large man decided he was in desperate need of some socks. So
desperate, in fact, that he entered Wal-Mart at night to steal them. Wearing…
absolutely nothing. Maybe it was a political statement, maybe he was trying
to do a Red Hot Chili Peppers type-thing….who knows? To make matters
stranger, he refused to comply with police officers until they subdued him with
a stun gun.
Two grown brothers in Pennsylvania were sharing a McDonald’s brownie when apparently one became enraged. He picked up three (three?) steak
knives, and began to slash and stab his shocked brother. This is not his first
stabbing incident. The other probably involved a McFlurry.
A man was convicted of using paper clips instead of the usual stainless steel
posts when treating root canals. Ouch. He was sentenced to a year in jail,
having already been fined for assault, battery, defraud, illegal prescriptions, and
witness intimidation. Not exactly the kind of man you want sticking his fingers
down your throat. Then again, who is?
STUPID CRIMINALS
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Calera Woman Sentenced To 6 Months,
$70,000 Restitution For Wire Fraud
Regina Lynn Trent, age 46, of Calera, was
sentenced to six months imprisonment, six
months home detention, and three years
supervised release for three counts of Wire
Fraud. The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Trent was also ordered to pay $70,328.72 in
restitution and the court entered an order imposing a money judgment in the amount of
$70,328.72.
The Information alleged that on three separate occasions in 2015, Trent unlawfully and
for the purpose of executing a fraudulent
scheme, caused to be transmitted by means of wire communication in interstate commerce writings, signs, signals, pictures, and sounds, ACH debits in
various amounts, paid from Parity Trucking Company’s First Texoma National
Bank checking account ending in xxx0886 and transferred to Comdata’s
bank account ending in xxx1506 at Regions Bank in Nashville, Tennessee.
“The defendant’s fraudulent scheme deprived a small business owner of a
significant amount of money,” said United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester.
“Because of the hard work of the FBI and members of this office, the defendant’s crimes were thoroughly investigated, she was prosecuted, and will be
held accountable. This office will make every effort to ensure that the defendant pays the restitution the Court has ordered to make the victim whole.”
Trent will remain in custody pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which the non-paroleable sentence will be served.

June is Internet Safety Month
Computer interconnectivity
has produced enormous benefits, but has also enabled criminal activity that exploits this interconnectivity for financial gain
and other malicious purposes,
such as internet fraud, child
exploitation, identity theft, and
terrorism. The Internet can give
identity thieves, hackers, and
scammers online access to your computer, financial and personal information
and more. Additionally, today’s mobile devices are well integrated with the
internet and have far more functionality than mobile phones of the past. They
are increasingly used in the same way as personal computers, potentially
making them susceptible to similar threats affecting computers connected to
the Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful arena for
socializing and learning. However, the use of the internet also brings about
risks to their safety, including the dangers of sexual solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating, parents -- regardless of whether they
are technologically savvy -- can help their kids make better decisions about
online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated with protecting
networks and information, detecting criminal activity, investigating crime, and
prosecuting criminals, . The Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America against cyber threats and has developed a pragmatic
and focused cyber-security legislative proposal for Congress to consider. The
proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for the American
people, our Nation’s critical infrastructure, and the Federal Government’s own
networks and computers.
