THAT'S METHED UP!
TSA detects methamphetamine concealed in traveler’s groin at Philadelphia International Airport
When a Transportation Security Administration
checkpoint scanner at Philadelphia International Airport
alarmed in the groin area of a Columbia County, Pa.,
man yesterday (September 30), a shotgun shell that appeared to be tampered with was
removed from beneath the man’s clothing.
A closer inspection of the altered shotgun shell determined that the white powder that
had been concealed inside of the shell was not an explosive. Philadelphia Police determined that the shell contained methamphetamine and arrested the man, a resident of
Orangeville, Pa., on a state charge.
Shotgun shells as well as any caliber of ammunition are prohibited from being carried
through a security checkpoint.
“Our focus is in ensuring that nobody attempts to bring explosives onto a flight,” said
Gerardo Spero, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport. “We use technology and
the skills of our officers and explosives experts to help ensure that explosives do not get
past our checkpoints.
“In this instance, our explosives experts conducted a test to determine what the mysterious white powdered substance
was and fortunately it was determined not to be an explosive. It
is disappointing to see individuals
attempt to hide items on their person or among their carry-on items
in an attempt to conceal them.
We are not looking for drugs,
but when we come across them,
we alert law enforcement and let
them handle the situation.”
Spero commended his officers
and explosives specialist for their
expert handling of the situation.
“It was a good catch and a job
well done by all involved, including our law enforcement partners,” he said.
Shotgun shells as well as any
caliber of ammunition is prohibited from being carried through a
security checkpoint.

FACING THE
CONSEQUENCES
A Kansas man and a runaway juvenile were
taken into custody September 21 after they led
police on a high-speed chase throughout three
counties.
Caden Jay Swisher, 18, of Concordia, Kansas,
was charged September 23 with felony endangering others by eluding /attempting to elude police officer, possession of stolen vehicle, and running roadblock, in Bryan County District Court. He was also charged in Atoka
County for felony running a roadblock.
According to a press release by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, on September 21, a Calera police officer attempted to stop a stolen vehicle traveling north
on Highway 75. The driver of the stolen vehicle failed to stop for the officer and
continued to attempt and elude officers, deputies and State Troopers in Bryan,
Atoka and Johnston Counties.
The pair, while running 70-80 mph through stop signs without slowing down
and running road blocks with no intent to face the consequences of their actions, placed numerous citizens and officers in danger.
Thanks to the team work and communication with many different law enforcement agencies during this pursuit, law enforcement were able to get the vehicle
stopped in Johnston County, in the town of Wapanuka.
Swisher and the juvenile, who was reported as a runaway, were taken into
custody.
This was the second vehicle the pair had stolen that week, beginning their
crime spree in Kansas, then stealing a second car from Oklahoma City, according to the press release.
Bond for Swisher was set at $50,000 in Bryan County and $25,000 in Atoka
County. He is currently being held in the Atoka County jail.

AROUND THE NATION
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Miami Beach Corvette owner faced an unusual situation when he discovered an
intruder trapped inside his car and asked him for help
to get out.
“My brother, this is not your car, this is my car,” Julio
Solano, the owner of the car told 33-year-old Ravesh
Rabindranauth.
“Can I get out?” Rabindranauth was heard asking
Solano while being recorded on the victim’s cellphone.
“No, you can’t get out. We’re calling the cops,” Solano replied.
Solano told a local news station that he was stunned when he returned to his car after
breakfast and found Rabindranauth sitting inside, pleading for help.
The incident unfolded at a parking garage on Washington Avenue and 16th Street in
Miami Beach.
Miami Beach police arrived on the scene and arrested Rabindranauth, who now faces
burglary charges.
Julio Solano believes that while Rabindranauth managed to break into the vehicle, he
was unable to start it or escape due to the car’s security system.
“The car’s electrical components don’t function without the keys, and fortunately, he
didn’t know about the manual door release under the seat,” said Solano.
Investigators said Solano had notified the owner of Premiere Auto Miami 1, an exotic
car rental company that stores its vehicles in the garage.
Authorities said Rabindranauth was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with
the officers. A routine records check revealed no local criminal history or outstanding
warrants.
Jail records show he is facing one count of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.
He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was
set at $2,500.

HUGO RESIDENT PLEADS
GUILTY TO DRUG CONSPIRACY
A Hugo man had pleaded guilty to federal charges after
he was caught dealing drugs in Durant.
Jerry Lana Freeman, 33, of Hugo, entered a guilty plea to
one count of Drug Conspiracy.
The Indictment alleged that beginning on or about June
16, 2023, and continuing until on or about July 17, 2024, in
the Eastern District of Oklahoma and elsewhere, Freeman
willfully and knowingly conspired with other individuals to
distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 50 grams
or more (actual) of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Durant Police Department.
The Honorable Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson, sitting in the United States District Court
for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. Freeman will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal
Service pending sentencing.

Gotta give kudos to a Jennings man who was
so determined to get to his court date on time in
Pawnee that he “borrowed” a LifeNet truck to get
there. But, alas, it was all for nothing.
Kody Ray Adams, 28, was charged September
25 with larceny of a motor vehicle, in Payne County District Court.
According to OHP, Adams was at a gas station
in Stillwater on September 24 asking people for a ride to Pawnee County for his
court date. When he couldn’t find a ride, he decided to hop in an unoccupied
LifeNet ambulance supervisor vehicle that had been left running.
OHP Ryan Trooper Long caught Adams at the courthouse walking in after
Adams had ditched the vehicle. Trooper Long arrested him after he admitted to
“borrowing” the vehicle, took him up to his court date, and then took him right
back to Payne County.
And guess what the court date was for??? Possession of a stolen vehicle.
Adams’ next court date was set for October 1, which he missed because
he was still in Payne County jail, and bond for the Pawnee County charge was
revoked.

FALSE COMPLAINT
22 | NOVEMBER 2024 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty CHOCTAW COUNTY
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless
