BERBERETTE
Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, woman Lana Jean Berberette, 38, was arrested in Atoka after she allegedly tried
to hide a stolen car from her home state on September
30.
According to the affidavit, an Atoka officer was dispatched to a car wash at the corner of West Third and
Highway 69 at approximately 4:51 p.m. Dispatch advised that a woman at the location was trying to escape her ex-husband.
The officer made contact with the woman, identified as Berberette. She told him her ex-husband was
in Texas and was trying to kill her. She also said she
didn’t have a phone because people told her to break
it in case her ex was using it to track her.
Berberette said she had just left the woman’s shelter in Durant, and she was
trying to get to Ardmore. She said she hitchhiked to Atoka.
The officer told the woman he could get her a hotel room for the night. While
she was loading her things into the patrol car, another woman told the officer Berberette drove up to the car wash, unloaded her things, drove off to the west, and
then walked back to the location.
Berberette said that someone had stolen the car from her. When an officer
asked her who took it, she said he would soon find out.
The officer located the car parked near West Second where the old elementary
school was located. He asked if that was her car. She told him that all of the evidence was inside, and the car would come back as stolen.
The officer ran the vehicle’s Minnesota tags, and the woman was right -- it was
stolen.
Berberette denied driving it.
The officer told her a witness saw her driving it, and he could review the security
footage from the car wash to see if she was lying. She did admit to driving it from
the car wash, because that’s what the people at the women’s shelter told her to
do with it. She said they told her it was stolen, and she needed to get rid of it.
Berberette is being charged with unauthorized use of motor vehicle. Her bond
was set at $25,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on October 12, 2016.

Tulsa man Ross Matthew Warren, 30, wasn’t too
pleased when he walked into a business in Albion on
September 13 and saw his girlfriend talking to another man.
He allegedly cut the man’s tires while the man was
inside the store.
According to the affidavit, a Pushmataha County deputy was dispatched to a business in Albion
shortly after 5 p.m. to investigate the incident. When
the deputy arrived, he met with the victim, who said
someone cut all four of his tires while he was inside
the business visiting.
The man said he was inside talking to Warren’s girlfriend, when Warren
stormed in and became angry when he saw the man talking to his woman.
The victim said Warren told him to leave, but Warren’s girlfriend told him to
stay.
This pissed off Warren even more, and he walked out of the building, yelling and cussing about how he was going to mess up the victim’s vehicle.
After about an hour, the victim said he walked outside and noticed his
tires had been cut. He told the deputy Warren called him and admitted to
cutting the tires. The victim said Warren told him he had four tires to replace
the ones he had damaged.
The deputy was unable to immediately locate the suspect and get his side
of the story.
According to the officer, Warren was hiding out because he had warrants
for his arrest.
The deputy asked Warren’s girlfriend about the incident, but she told him
that she didn’t know anything.
Warren is being charged with malicious destruction of property of another.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
November 9, 2016.

Christopher Wallace may share a name with the Notorious B.I.G., but any
similarities end there. The 22-year-old was arrested in March while Snapchatting his whereabouts (he was currently hiding in a cupboard from police, who
were searching his home at the time). That was actually his second incriminating post to the platform – his first was kind enough to inform police that he was
at home in the first place.
John Mogan already made the poor decision of getting face and neck tattoos, which aren’t the most helpful accessories for bank robbers, but he also
posed for numerous photos with the loot from his alleged haul, along with his
girlfriend, Ashley Duboe. Needless to say, they were arrested shortly after his
pictures hit the web.
Renaud ‘Junior’ Plaisir broke into John Terrell’s New Hampshire home with
the intent of robbing it. At some point, he found the refrigerator, which held
some leftover chicken wings. He ate those, and then promptly fell asleep in
the guest bedroom, where he was discovered and detained by Terrell until the
police arrived.
Devin Gesell and two accomplices broke into a Missouri home in March
and took, among other things, a box containing what they thought was cocaine. Turns out, it was the homeowner’s father’s ashes. And even worse,
the woman, Debora Matthews, claims that two of the unnamed teens were
the deceased man’s grandchildren. That’s gonna make for an awkward family
reunion.
Frank E. Blake Jr. was already incarcerated in a Virginia jail when he was
visited by his second and third wives. Turns out, he was still married to his
second wife, whom he’d married before his divorce from his first wife was
finalized. These developments complicated things considerably: Blake was
charged with bigamy, which increased the length of his sentence by a year and
a half. Maybe he just really liked weddings?
Patrick Rempe, 24, drove his 2002 Toyota through the front door of Indian
River County Jail’s Building C. That didn’t work, so he backed out and then
tried to go through the fence. That also didn’t work, so he tried to climb the
fence, where he got stuck on the razor wire. What was Rempe trying to accomplish? He told police he wanted to visit friends who were currently incarcerated, a decision he’d reached after getting high on “flakka,” a synthetic
stimulant.
Reliford Cooper, III, fled from police one Wednesday evening in October,
leading them on a high-speed chase that involved running through a stop sign
and two ditches before crashing into a house. “I wasn’t driving that car,” he
told police when he was being handcuffed. “My dog was driving that car.” No
dog was found at the scene.
Police in Anchorage, Alaska, spent at least some of August searching for
a man in a “fairly realistic” bear costume who was caught harassing several
actual bears in the Chilkoot River. “This is not the first time we’ve encountered
a man in a bear suit,” Fish and Game spokeswoman Megan Peters told the
Associated Press, though the experience apparently did not help them make
an arrest.

Coalgate man Joshua Dean Ingram, 23,
was arrested on September 24 after he allegedly stole a chainsaw, a bow and various
other items from his neighbors’ residence.
According to the police report, Coal
County deputies went to Ingram’s residence
on Derwood Drive around 3 p.m. on with a
search warrant in hand. The man’s neighbors had reported that some items had
gone missing from their home. The items
missing included a chainsaw, bow, tackle
box, and rod and reels.
Police suspected suspected Ingram might
be the culprit.
The deputies met with the landowner
where Ingram lived and presented him with
the search warrant. They informed him they
were there concerning some items that were stolen from the residence next
to his property.
The homeowner gave them permission to search his home.
Deputies searched two buildings on the property -- one was the main
house, and the other was a smaller building located in front of the main
house referred to as “the cabin.” Inside the home, officers located the
chainsaw and bow.
Officers also found some rod and reels and a tackle box in the cabin that
had also been reported stolen.
During the search, Ingram was identified as the guilty party. He was
placed under arrest and transported to the Coal County Jail.
Ingram is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property. His
bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 20, 2016.

18-year-old Durant men Kade Lynn Robertson and Zachary Ryan McCullar were arrested
on September 17 after an apparent drug deal
gone wrong.
According to the affidavit, a Bryan County
deputy was dispatched to Leavenworth Trail
South Highway 70 for a dispute. Witnesses told
him they heard gunfire right before seeing a man
run from the area and two men drive off.
The deputy spoke to the victim who was at the
hospital. He told the officer he was riding with
some friends to Kingston when they started arguing. He said the driver jumped into the backseat and started biting him.
The deputy located the two suspects and
brought them back to the sheriff’s office. They
told the deputy they were leaving Leavenworth
to sell weed to the victim. They said the victim
pulled a gun on them. Robertson tried to take
the gun away, but the victim fought back. At
some point, the gun fired a bullet.
The next day, two men contacted the officer
with more information. They said they drove
the victim to buy some weed. A truck pulled in
behind them. The victim exited the vehicle and
jumped in the truck.
After a few moments, the victim started fighting with two men in the truck. During the fight, the men heard a gunshot,
so they drove away from the location. They later returned, but then noticed
that the truck was following them again. The men pulled into a local convenience store in an attempt to lose the truck. They said someone in the
truck shot at them.
On September 21, the deputy was advised that Robertson had been
arrested, along with a .40 pistol. He allegedly told officer he used the gun
during the September 17 shooting.
The man said he and McCullar were trying to sell some weed to the suspect. When the man got into the backseat of their truck, he informed them
that he was handing over any cash for the pot.
Robertson said the guy then pulled out his gun and pointed it at McCullar.
Both men are being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon with use of motor vehicle. Robertson’s bond was set at $10,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2016. McCullar’s
bond was set at$100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 11, 2016.

TIPS FROM A TROOPER REWIND
This month’s Tips is less of a tip
than it is a serious request for help
from you, the motoring public. I
would like to make a personal appeal
to each and every reader who sees
this to help us Troopers try to eliminate one of the toughest jobs that we
ever have to do. It is something that
everyone who drives can have an impact on.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is
tasked with the investigation of motor vehicle accidents on the public roadways outside the city limits in the State
of Oklahoma. In the course of this, we investigate a huge number of fatalities. For each fatality victim, it is the duty of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol
to personally notify the next of kin. For each life lost, there is a knock on a
door somewhere, where an OHP Trooper has to deliver news that will forever
change the lives of the person or persons on the other side. Sadly, these
knocks on the door could have been prevented by somebody involved in the
accident. Sometimes it’s the person who died whose unsafe or unlawful action caused the accident that took their life. Often times it is not.
Each and every Trooper you see working the roads every day has had to
knock on that door. I think if you asked, every single one would tell you this
is the worst aspect of our job. Trying to prevent this is one of the reasons
we do what we do. We know if we work hard, we can stop some of these
knocks. We also know the motoring public can help us stop some of these
knocks as well. The following are just a few ways for you to do your part to
help.
First and foremost, obey the law. It really doesn’t matter if your personal
opinion of the rules of the road don’t make sense, or shouldn’t apply in certain situations. Each one of them is designed for us to travel safely on the
road. Slow down, and give your full, undivided attention to the road. Watch
out for the other driver. When you see something happening ahead of you,
slow down! “I was late”, or “I was texting” just doesn’t cut it as responses to
a grieving family when they ask why this happened. Is it something you could
live with if it was your reason for taking a life?
The people on the other side of that knock aren’t the only ones affected by
the experience. We Troopers have all held strangers as the initial horror and
shock of the news takes hold of them. We have all prayed with families we
just met, and asked if we could have done more to prevent it. Each and every
day we are trying to stop The Knock. Now I’m asking you to help us. Thanks
for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

OBSTRUCTION POLICE OFFICER
19-year-old Hugo man Deounta Laqualin Lennox was arrested after he allegedly
conducted a drug deal and then tried to
escape police on October 4.
According to the affidavit, a Choctaw
County deputy was traveling eastbound
on Jackson Street at approximately 8:30
p.m. when he saw what he believed to
be a drug deal between two men. He
pulled into the convenience store parking
lot where the men were, but both vehicles
left the scene.
The deputy noticed that one of the vehicles failed to signal a left hand turn.
The vehicle then accelerated and sped
down the road, running multiple stop
signs. The driver accelerated to more than 80 mph before coming to
a stop in the middle of Rosewood Drive, causing the deputy to hit his
vehicle.
The driver, later identified as Lennox, kept on driving despite the deputy’s commands to stop. He kept on going westbound and crashed into
an apartment.
Lennox then jumped out of the car and took off running. Two children
at the scene needed medical attention due to the collision.
The deputy inventoried the suspect’s car, and he found a set of digital
scales, small baggies and a bag containing a green leafy substance that
later tested positive for marijuana.
The deputy went back to the convenience store and asked the employees if anyone knew who drove the white car. One of the employees
admitted Lennox was the father of her child, but she said he wasn’t driving the car at the time of the incident. She said he didn’t have a car.
During the conversation, she appeared to be very nervous.
After reviewing book-in photos, the deputy positively identified the driver as Lennox.
The deputy then went to the woman’s house in the 800 block of W.
Finley and made contact with her. Officers found the man hiding in a back
bedroom.
The woman later admitted to police that she had seen the man flee
with scene in the white car.
Lennox is being charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police officer, possession of controlled dangerous substance, leaving scene of accident involving
