GUILTY CONSCIENCE
Stillwater man Michael Anthony Schmidt, 31, is
being charged with lewd molestation for allegedly
molesting a 14-year-old earlier this year.
According to reports, Schmidt was staying with
the victim’s family in rural Payne County when he
allegedly molested the victim between February 1
and March 8.
A Payne County sheriff’s investigator arrested
the man on March 11.
When the investigator asked Schmidt if he knew why he was in the sheriff’s
office, Schmidt told the investigator that he had asked the 14-year-old if he could
“mess with” the victim. He also said he had known the victim for about seven
years.
Schmidt said that sometimes he slept on the couch and sometimes he slept
in the bed with the victim. He also admitted to performing a sexual act on the
victim. Schmidt said he told the victim that he wanted to stop because he knew
it was wrong. He said he wanted to get back in the church.
Schmidt is being charged with lewd molestation. His bond was set at $75,000,
and he was scheduled to appear in court on April 3, 2024.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

RESOURCE
A former school resource officer for Mannford
Public Schools has pleaded not guilty to rape
charges after being accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a student.
James Matthew Waltman, 42, of Mannford,
was charged March 12 with rape by instrumentation, forcible sodomy, indecent exposure, and
two counts of furnishing alcoholic beverage to a
person under 21, in Creek County District Court.
According to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), on March 5, the
Mannford Police Department requested OSBI to assist with a sexual abuse case.
Special agents completed a comprehensive report and identified the suspect as
Waltman, who is a Mannford Police Officer. It was determined that Waltman was
also employed by Mannford Public Schools as a school resource officer.
During the investigation, it was learned that Waltman engaged inappropriately
with a student, including providing alcohol to a minor, while employed at the
school.
Based on the information gathered from the case, OSBI special agents arrested Waltman on the evening of March 5. Waltman was booked into the Creek
County Jail; bond was set at $92,000.
Waltman pleaded not guilty to the charges at his initial arraignment on March
19 and his next appearance is schedule for May 1.
Anyone with additional information can contact the OSBI at [email protected].

Ice Cream, You Scream
Last month while we were all sleeping safe and sound in our
beds, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Florida, East Precinct
Deputies were out peacekeeping, when around 3:00 in the morning they came across a suspicious vehicle parked at the BP Gas
Station, on the Merritt Island Causeway. As the deputy got out of
the vehicle and approached the driver, he observed Tara Kidder
sound asleep, like a bug in a rug behind the wheel, with a container
of ice cream in her lap!!
Now first of all, who falls asleep with half eaten ice cream, as
that seems like a crime in itself, but things got even worse for
Kidder after the deputy woke her up from her little nap, as she decided that right then was all of a sudden
a great time to clean up her car and throw away her trash in a nearby garbage can, including her Taco Bell
bag and a few other items as well!!
I guess she thought this was their first rodeo and that we wouldn’t be wise to her little attempt to hide
her drugs in the garbage can, however that little plan was foiled when other deputies arrived on scene and
retrieved the “trash” Kidder had thrown away. On top of the Taco Bell bag was a clear baggie that contained
approximately 11.3 grams of mushrooms and actually hidden inside the bag was another clear baggie that
contained 5.5 grams of a white substance that field tested positive for meth!!
When deputies subsequently searched the vehicle, they also found two additional bags in the console,
one with 0.7 grams of meth and another with 0.4 grams of cocaine base. And then, the most concerning find was in Kidder’s backpack where deputies found 7.8 grams of
Fentanyl, which is enough to kill 3,900 people if put into a lethal dose.
Kidder later admitted to throwing the drugs in the trash can, but said
she didn’t know there was Fentanyl in the backpack… man, don’t you
hate it when that happens?!! Ultimately Kidder enjoyed a ride in the
courtesy shuttle to jail where she is being held on a “No Bond” status for
Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Mushrooms, Tampering with Evidence, and
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia!!
On a more positive note, the food at the Brevard County Jail can
sometimes have the same effects as Taco Bell, but it in no way tastes
as good!!

SNACK ATTACK
An 18-year-old Wellston man was arrested after
officers caught him stealing some snacks and drinks
from the local Dollar General on March 9.
According to the affidavit, Wellston police officers
were dispatched to the store located in the 500
block of E. Highway 66 at approximately 11:50 p.m.
to investigate a burglary alarm. When they arrived at
the location, they saw that a door on the west side
of the building was slightly open. The officers noticed
that the door appeared to have been forced open as
they walked into the building.
One of the officers walked toward the front of store and saw a person wearing a
black hoodie taking things off the shelf. The officer told them man, “Show me your
hands!”
The man took off running to the back of the store. He ran down an aisle, but some
carts blocked his path. Officers stopped the man and placed him in handcuffs.
When an officer asked the man his name, he identified himself as Brandon Rose.
An officer searched the man and found some store items in his sweatshirt pocket
and a pocketknife in his pants pocket. He then searched the man’s backpack and
he found nine bags of beef jerky, a bag of Cheetos, four bags of pepperoni pizza
crackers, five Kit Kat candy packages, a bag of gummy worms, seven bags of Air
Heads, a can of Scorchin’ Hot Pringles, and three Monster energy drinks.
An officer also found another knife and a black metal bar near the door that had
been forced open.
Officers later found another Monster and a Starbucks coffee drink in the area
where Rose was placed in handcuffs.
Rose is being charged with burglary in the second degree. His bond was set at
$3,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 11, 2024.

DRUG DEALING FOR DUMMIES:
CHAPTER 1
In This Chapter You Will Learn:
• Rule Number One: Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Two: No Matter What, Don’t Be A Drug Dealer
• Rule Number Three: If You Are Gonna Deal Drugs Don’t Fall Asleep Behind The Wheel
• Rule Number Four: Even If You Hide Drugs In Your Butt The Cops Will Still Find Them
To truly understand the importance of the four basic rules listed above, let’s look to what happened last year to Katrina Workman, of Brevard County, Florida, who not only forget basic rule
number one, but apparently didn’t follow any of the basic rules!!
Not only did Workman totally ignore rules one and two, but then she decided to fall asleep behind
the wheel of her car while parked in the parking lot of the Raceway in Mims. As is often the case
when you violate this rule, the Deputies show up and then things most often take a turn for the worst
for the drug dealer. In this classic example of ignoring the rules, Deputies arrived on scene and observed Workman trying to hide a baggy that contained multiple types of illegal drugs.
Workman was actually trying to conceal approximately 2 grams of Methamphetamine, approximately 2.6 grams of Fentanyl, approximately 1.8 grams of Buprenorphine, and approximately 6.4
grams of Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine. As a result of not following the basic rules, especially
numbers one and two, which clearly state don’t sell drugs, Workman was arrested and taken into
custody!!
Now here is where Workman completely ignored rule number four as she was warned to disclose
to the Deputies if she had any other contraband hidden on her person to which she of course responded, “no”!! Even after being warned that if she did, additional charges would be forthcoming,
Workman still blatantly ignored rule number four and carried another baggie of fentanyl into our jail
which she had hidden in her buttocks. Well, as we clearly point out in Drug Dealing For Dummies,
“even if you hide drugs in your butt the cops will still find it” and that is exactly what happened as
our Corrections Deputies seized the additional baggie of fentanyl, while Workman was changing into
her nice new prison attire!!
Workman was subsequently booked into our jail on a
total bond of $13,000 for Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Two Counts of Possession of a
Controlled Substance, and Introduction of Contraband Into
a Correctional Facility.
So students, what have we learned from this classic example of what happens if you don’t follow the basic rules
covered in chapter one of Drug Dealing For Dummies? Well
it’s simple…if you deal drugs, you are going to jail, if you fall
asleep behind the wheel of your car in the parking lot you
help the cops put you in jail, and lastly, if you hide drugs
in your butt the cops will still find them and then you get
another felony charge for bringing contraband into our jail!!

DREADFUL
DREADLOCKS
A desperate man, who was identified by multiple victims by his hairstyle choice, was arrested
on the evening on March 10 after a manhunt that
spanned over 12 hours.
According to reports, the ordeal started that
morning around 10 a.m.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a
black man with dreads wearing a blue shirt and
jeans ran from a trooper. The trooper had stopped the man on I-35 because the
man was in a vehicle that was reported stolen.
The man was identified as Detron Cortez James.
A Logan County deputy later spotted the suspect in a wooded area near
Westminster and County Road 72 northeast of Guthrie, but he lost sight of the
man.
Around 7:30 p.m., a Logan County resident called 911 and reported that
a man had just walked into their home. The resident said the black man had
dreads and was wearing jeans and a white shirt with a flannel. The resident also
told 911 that they heard gunshots.
Another man said he pulled into his driveway and when he stepped out of his
vehicle, a black man started shooting at him from inside his own home. The man
then ran out of the home and fled the area.
Investigators later found a shell casing from a .45 caliber firearm in the home.
Logan County deputies and other law enforcement agencies started searching for the man. Shortly after 10 p.m., deputies received reports that a black man
was throwing rocks at vehicles traveling on I-35.
A deputy found the suspect, who was positively identified as James, and he
placed the man under arrest.
James is being charged with two counts of shooting with intent to kill, three
counts of burglary in the second degree, and possession of a firearm, all after
the former conviction of a felony. His bond was set at $100,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on April 18, 2024.
