Stillwater man Tyrell Duvonn Celestine, 22, allegedly shot a man in the leg during an argument on
July 14. Celestine is still on the lamb.
According to the police report, Stillwater police
were dispatched to the 1400 block of S. Lewis to assist medical personnel with a gunshot victim. They
found the victim lying in the floor of the house – he
had been shot in his upper right inner thigh.
The resident of the home said he and some friends
were watching a movie when two vehicles pulled up
in front of his house. A group of people, including
Celestine, walked into his home and started arguing
with the people inside.
At one point, Celestine and the victim started arguing.
The witness said he tried to get between the men to calm down the fight, but
Celestine pulled out a black automatic pistol and shot the victim in the leg.
The suspect and his group ran out the door. The witness said he heard another
gunshot come from the driveway, but he wasn’t sure if Celestine had fired his gun
again or not.
Police spoke to the victim at the hospital. The man said he was watching a
movie at his cousin’s house when Celestine and a group of people walked inside.
They started to argue with a man about money. The victim said he started arguing
with Celestine, and Celestine pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg.
Celestine was arrested July 28 and is being charged with assault and battery
with a dangerous weapon. His bond was set at $35,000.

Well, it took long enough, and I’m not
complaining about that, but the heat has finally
arrived!
Whether its at the lake, pool, or any of
the numerous other activities to be found
throughout this great state, there are plenty of
ways to beat the heat! Since summertime travel
is a big part of this I thought I would touch on the way heat can affect your
traveling plans, and some tips to help you!
First, be prepared. Cars suffer in the heat just like we do. If and when
they break down, you’ll want to be ready. Be familiar with your emergency
equipment in your vehicle. This means learn where your jack, spare tire, and
tire tool are. Learn how to use them. Figuring that out on the side of the road
at 102 degrees is no fun at all. The owner’s manual of your vehicle has a section
on roadside emergencies that can help you figure out where the emergency
equipment is stored, and tips on how to use it. Learn the steps to change a
flat! Although we will be happy to help you if you are broken down, we aren’t
always close, and may not be able to get to you for a long period of time. If you
know how to get yourself out of a roadside emergency, that’s less time you’ll
spend in the heat.
Take lots of water with you if you are going on a trip, especially if it’s a long
one. Have a cell phone with you so you can call for help if you need it. Be aware
of your surroundings when driving, so you can give the person you call for help
an accurate location for where you are. Also, if you can get your car to a place of
shade, do so. Temperatures can be up to 20 degrees cooler in a place of shade
such as an overpass or large trees.
Lastly, make sure your car is maintained properly. Ever notice how many
pieces of tires you see on the roadway during the summer? The heat is hard
on tires, so make sure they are properly inflated and have good tread. If your
tread is worn, get them replaced! The pavement those tires are rolling on is even
hotter than the thermometer is showing! Visually check your belts, and make
sure all your fluids are filled up. That ounce of prevention can keep you from
being stuck on the side of the road in 100 plus temperatures.
Preparing for roadside emergencies in the heat is just as important as it is in
the winter, but it seems like we just don’t prepare the same for it. Just a few
minutes of learning how to change a flat, packing in a case of water, and being
aware of your surroundings can keep a bad day from being a whole lot worse!

When a woman told Bristow man Bryan Keith
Gore, 48, he could have the items left over from her
yard sale, he allegedly decided he would help himself
to the inside of her husband’s truck also.
On July 14, a Bristow officer was dispatched to a
residence in the 200 block of W. Sixth shortly after
8 a.m. When he arrived, a woman told him she had
a yard sale over the weekend. A man, later identified
as Gore, bought a few items. When the yard sale was
over, the woman set some items on her curb for people to take. Gore asked if he could have them. She
told the man yes.
Gore said he would be back later to get the stuff
because he was on foot and needed a vehicle to take the items back to his home.
Around midnight, the woman said Gore returned to her residence and started
loading up the yard sale leftovers. The woman and her husband were sitting outside, so they went to help him.
Gore seemed surprised to see them, and he acted like he was in a hurry. The
couple told the officer this was weird to them, because he had been so nice earlier
that day.
As the woman’s husband was helping Gore, he thought he saw his fishing bag
in the man’s vehicle. He dismissed it, because he knew the bag was in his truck.
The next morning, the man discovered that the back passenger side door on his
truck was open, and his fishing bag and wallet were missing. The couple told the
officer Gore lived in the 300 block of W. Ninth, because they had delivered some
items to him.
The officer went to the location. He immediately spotted the missing fishing
bag in the front yard. Gore told the officer he didn’t know anything about a stolen
wallet.
When the officer pointed out the stolen bag, Gore admitted to taking that, but
he still denied stealing the wallet.
Gore is being charged with burglary in the second degree and knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2015.

When an intoxicated Guthrie man was caught stumbling around town with a gun, he told police he was carrying it because there were coyotes roaming around.
On July 19, a Guthrie officer was dispatched to Prairie
Grove and Davis Road shortly after 2 a.m. due to reports
of a man passed out in the roadway. When he arrived at
the location, he saw a man walking his dog. When the man
saw the officer, he took off running.
The officer stopped the man, 30-year-old Thomas Wesley Higgins, and asked him what was going on. Higgins
said he was fine and wasn’t passed out. He told the officer
his dog had gotten loose, and he went outside to get her.
He kept asking the officer just to let him walk home.
Higgins couldn’t walk straight, and he was having trouble answering the officer’s questions. He kept pointing north and told the officer he lived just up the
road.
The officer looked where he was pointing and asked, “Is that your house?” Higgins said yes. But, the problem was, Higgins’s “house” was actually a pumping
station.
The officer placed the man under arrest. Higgins advised the officer he had a
gun in his pocket. The officer retrieved the gun; Dispatch advised the man did not
have a concealed weapon permit.
Higgins told the officer he was carrying the gun because he was in the country,
and there are coyotes out there.
Higgins’s mother came to the scene to get the man’s dog. She denied that she
and her son lived at the pumping station. In fact, she said they lived in the opposite direction.
Higgins is being charged with carrying firearm while under the influence and
public intoxication. His bond was set at $1,500, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on September 10, 2015.

officer with him didn’t say anything during the incident, but confronted him when they left
the room. He checked the papers and saw they weren’t signed. Came back the next day to
apologize and told their boss about the incident. I filed a report but nothing ever happened
to the officer. That was a horrible situation! A moment that should have been filled with
joy, completely shattered by nonsense.

Oklahoma City man Luis Vaca, 22, allegedly stole
a vehicle – and then went to sleep in it on the side of
the road in Lincoln County. He was arrested after the
owner of the vehicle found him snoozing away.
According to the affidavit, a state trooper was dispatched to the 170 mile marker on the Turner Turnpike shortly after 8 a.m. on July 10. The reporting
party said he was there with his vehicle that had been
stolen from his shop in Sapulpa, and there was a man
sleeping in the car.
The sleeping man was later identified as Vaca.
When the trooper arrived, he saw the car parked on
the westbound shoulder. The trooper approached the vehicle and placed Vaca in
handcuffs. He asked the man what he was doing in the vehicle.
Vaca said he had just climbed inside the vehicle because he needed a place to
sleep. When the trooper told the man there were numerous cameras outside the
shop where the vehicle was stolen, Vaca replied, “You got me then.”
The alleged car thief said he took the vehicle because a friend left in stranded
in Sapulpa, and he needed to get back to the city.
Vaca also asked the trooper which prison he was going to, because he was on
probation for stealing another car.
Vaca is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without
a driver’s license. His bond was set at $15,000 and he is scheduled to appear in
court on August 6, 2015.
