We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!
Medical marijuana has been approved by the people
of Oklahoma, yet our governmental officials and people
who think they know what’s best for us have once
again decided to rewrite what we voted on. What’s
your opinion on this issue?
These comments are only just a fraction we had on our Facebook Page. Read
more by going to our page.
___________________________________________________________________
Ryan S: This was a very badly written bill, and no one wanted to
acknowledge it. So you got what you voted for.
Robert S: I want everything I voted for, no changes just what I
voted for. Go after Meth if you want to help Oklahoma
Matthew M: I knew exactly what I voted for and, if they would’ve
left it alone, there wouldn’t be any problems.
Chris D: Actually Ryan Scott what we voted for was a medication
that had no regulations nor profit margin for big pharma. A natural
solution to the chemicals we have been forced to take. It defined
that we were able to have both smokable and edible forms.
Chris R: The bill was written quite intelligently. The “reefer
madness” stigma is a load of hogwash. Cannabis is far from
dangerous and for the inexperienced the concentrates and edibles
may well be far too potent.
Kris C: Only people who claim 788 was poorly written are
brainwashed with government propaganda. You people are
partially responsible for the opioid epidemic FYI
Rich C: It wasnt written to ban the smoking of the medication. It
was a very broad explanation of how it would be presented to the
public that ill agree with. But making it on the terms they now are
presenting is way off of the presentation that most understood.
Richard J: ...the state effectively kept mmj illegal with their rules,
and that goes 100% against what was voted in. A pharmacist will
lose their license if they dispense, and it would shoot the cost up
dramatically.
Darci T: It’s very simple. The people voted for a policy that gives
the patient and their doctor the power to decide about dosage
and the best method to take the medicine. The patient and their
doctor. The state ruled against the will and the vote of the people.
Whether you’re for mmj or against it, the state has gone against the
vote. It’s wrong and brings the legitimacy of the state government
in question. Mmj is a medicine and people have a right to use it.
Will it be mis-used? Yes. Most good things are misused but we
don’t outlaw them bc of misuse, examples: opioids, food stamps,
welfare, unemployment, SS disability, Medicare, etc.
Erica V: Agree! Well said.
JC J: Actually, we voted for a law that allowed the state Health
Dept. to enact bureaucratic regulations, which is what they are
doing.
Rich C: Bingo
Howard C: And all medicines are regulated which, was called for
in your ballot question
Dylan M: The reason we live in a democracy is to allow those
to vote for their own freedoms, as we should be governed by the
people- not by unelected officials on boards who have ties with the
lawmakers. They knew it would pass, but this is exactly why Mary
Fallin didn’t want to allow a special session in the house, she knew
they would put extreme measures in place.
Mike G: We live in a constitutional Republic ..
Dorothy T: She knew exactly what she was doing when she
appointed the panel she did. She knew what she was going to do
the moment she decided not to hold a special session. I can’t even
put on Facebook what I think of her!

bank robbery suspect indicted
A Sapulpa man is currently behind bars in
the Tulsa County Jail after he allegedly robbed
a Tulsa bank and led police on a high-speed
chase on July 6.
According to reports, 36-year-old Mark
Nicholas Jones allegedly robbed a Commerce Bank at a gunpoint in the Utica
Square area. He then fled the area, leading
state troopers and Tulsa officers on a pursuit
through the city.
The high-speed chase eventually came to
an end when a state trooper used his vehicle
to stop the suspect’s car on I-44 near Sapulpa.
Body-cam footage showed an officer slowly approach Jones’s overturned vehicle with his gun drawn. Jones leaned out
of the vehicle with his hands raised. Realizing the man was stuck, officers
pulled him out of the car and placed him in handcuffs. Jones told officers,
“I’m so sorry.”
Jones was indicted in federal court on July 17 on charges of Bank Robbery
With a Dangerous Weapon; Use, Carry and Brandish a Firearm During and in
Relation to a Crime of Violence. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of
25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the bank robbery with a dangerous
weapon charge; and a statutory mandatory minimum penalty of 7 consecutive years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the use, carry and brandish a
firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence charge.

what nightmares are made of
Four members of a Meeker family were arrested after
officers found a 15-year-old nearly starved to death and
living in a barn on July 12.
According to the affidavit, officers were send to a residence on S. 3740 Road to conduct a welfare check on
a minor. They were approached by a child who had injuries on his head and weighed less than 80 pounds.
During the investigation, officers discovered the boy
had been forced to live in a barn next to the family’s
home. The injury on his head was from a previous
wound that his father, 34-year-old Jimmy Lee Jones,
Sr., had superglued shut. The teen also had multiple
broken bones and several pellets of gunshot birdshot in
one of his legs – he told officers his father had shot him.
The boy’s father worked as a correctional officer at a
private prison in Cushing.
Doctors told police the victim would likely have died
within the next week if he hadn’t been removed from the
property.
The boy’s father, along with his stepmother, Amy Adkins Jones, 46, and stepbrothers, 24-year-old Tyler Joe
Adkins and 20-year-old Johnathan Luke Plank, were arrested for the child abuse and neglect.
The family’s home had fully stocked pantries, while
the victim’s stomach was full of twigs, leaves and grass
– a passerby had called officials after he saw the malnourished teen eating berries outside the home.
Investigators say they aren’t sure why the family
abused the victim, but said they accused him of being a “manipulative liar.” The victim was homeschooled
and told police he hadn’t been allowed to leave the residence for nearly two years. He also said he hadn’t been
to a doctor, because they were “too expensive.”
Every other member of the family, including a 4-yearold living at the home, appeared to be healthy and wellfed. The 15-year-old was also the only child who wasn’t
related by blood to Amy Jones.
Adkins and Plank are being charged with child neglect. Their bonds were set at $25,000. Amy Jones is
being charged with enabling child abuse by injury and
child neglect. Her bond was set at $75,000.
Jones Sr. is being charged with child abuse by injury and child neglect. His
bond was set at $125,000.
They are all scheduled to appear in court on August 6, 2018.

Child porn suspect pleads guilty
Attorney General Mike Hunter announced
a Guthrie man has pleaded guilty to a host of
charges filed by his office in April 2017 that
include aggravated possession of child pornography.
At sentencing in September, Enrique Segura faces up to life in prison after pleading
guilty to two counts of aggravated child pornography, two counts of possession of child
pornography and one count of violating the
computer crimes act.
An undercover investigation by the Attorney General’s Office, Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation (OSBI) and Guthrie Police
Department led to the original charges.
Investigators found Segura in possession of over 10,000 videos and images of suspected child pornography, including over 1,800 images and videos of known underage victims. Images and videos depicted abuse of male
victims as young as infants and toddlers.
Attorney General Hunter applauded the efforts of agents, officers and attorneys with his office, the OSBI and Guthrie Police Department for conducting the undercover investigation that led to the charges and plea.
“Crimes against children are abhorrent and despicable and receive zero
tolerance from this office,” Attorney General Hunter said. “I appreciate the
work put into this case by individuals in my office as well as the OSBI and
Guthrie Police Department, who successfully collaborated to hold this individual accountable for his disturbing actions. We remain committed to working with our law enforcement partners to ensure individuals who engage in
this reprehensible conduct are put away so they cannot prey on innocent
children.”

Phillip Williams was an unhappy consumer. So he stopped two Tampa, Florida, police officers, handed over his crack pipe, and asked if they
wouldn’t mind testing the crack cocaine that he’d bought earlier, just to
make sure it was the real deal. Good news! It was. Bad news! They arrested him.
A 17-year-old suspected arsonist approached a car in Lambertville,
Michigan, intending to siphon gas from it. What he forgot to do was ask
permission from the detective sitting in the front seat.
When Sheboygan, Wisconsin, police pulled over a car for not having
proper registration, a passenger did what many criminals do — he supplied the cops with an alias. Bad move. Turns out, that particular alias was
wanted for vehicular homicide.
Alexander D. Smith walked into an Augusta, Georgia, bank and tried
to open an account with a $1 million bill. Great idea — except there is no
such thing as a $1 million bill.
Two machete-wielding men barged into a Sydney, Australia, bar demanding money. Because they didn’t know the club was hosting a bikers’
meeting, one ended up in the hospital, the other hog-tied with electrical
wire.
Convicted of receiving stolen property, James Wombles, 37, had to
wear an ankle bracelet as part of his parole. The bracelet came complete
with a GPS monitoring system that let cops track his every move. Over
the course of a few weeks, the Riverside, Ohio, man allegedly broke into
six homes. You know where this is going — just as the cops knew where
Wombles was going. Following the signals from his bracelet, they tracked
him to his car, where they found him sitting on the stolen booty.
When Ellis Cleveland was arrested in Honolulu, a detective informed him
he was suspected of robbing four banks. “Four?” responded Cleveland,
according to the detective’s affidavit. “I didn’t do four; I only robbed three
banks.”

get your goat
District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas filed
charges July 11 on Cody Joseph Porter, 32,
following his arrest by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture agents.
Porter was charged in a six-count information with Larceny of Implements of Husbandry, Larceny of Livestock, Burglary in the
Second Degree, Cruelty to Animals, Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property and Pattern
of Criminal Activity all after former felony convictions in the District Court of Logan County
and his bond was set by Judge Louis Duel on
the arrest warrant at $100,000.
Investigators allege that Porter and Michael
Demaro took a 1998 Chevrolet farm truck,
a 24 foot stock trailer, 38 Angora goats and
2 sheep on July 3, 2018, from the Langston
University internationally acclaimed Goat Research Center. Porter and Demaro were located by officers in Pottawatomie County on July 5 where Demaro
was arrested. Agents pursued Porter after he fled from Pottawatomie County
deputies and arrested him July 10 in Owasso. One of the orphan goats that
the pair stole died from lack of proper nutrition.
District Attorney Thomas said her office is committed to prosecute persons
who take property of others, including those who steal farm equipment and
livestock.
“Victims of property crimes are entitled to the full protection of our laws just
as victim of violent crime,” said Thomas. “The monetary loss to victims can be
devastating and I will vigorously prosecute persons who commit such crimes.
This sends the correct message to others who engage in this type of activity
that there are consequences for their actions.”
Thomas also said that she appreciates the commitment of the Department
of Agriculture and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association in
their pursuit of these types of thefts.
